00:31:50.000 DeWine announced the veto in a press conference on Friday, the last day he could have vetoed the bill.

00:31:58.000 Bill would have also barred so-called hormone therapy and prohibited boys claiming to be girls from competing in state-sanctioned athletics.

00:38:40.000 Because they don't have access to these resources, they wait until the very end to hopefully receive some care and by then it's too late and we shouldn't have to have people, you know, waiting until they're feeling ill to go to the doctor.

00:38:52.000 We should have preventative care and that's why this is so important.

00:38:55.000 Those who are eligible will be able to qualify for Medi-Cal, the state's health insurance program for low-income individuals.

00:39:01.000 Medi-Cal offers access to primary and preventative care, specialists, prescription medicine and more.

00:39:07.000 They also deserve a right to have access to primary needs that they don't generally have access to.

00:39:13.000 Undocumented people between the ages of 26 and 49 will be eligible for Medi-Cal.

00:39:18.000 Valeska says having access to health care is a necessity the immigrant community shouldn't have to put on hold.

00:39:24.000 I do think a lot of people for so long have literally been neglecting their health because it just hasn't been accessible to them.

00:39:30.000 California Republicans have argued that the state's Medi-Cal system could overload the state's budget.

00:39:35.000 Velasquez says she thinks the state is moving in the right direction, but believes there's still more work to be done.

00:39:40.000 That's because many undocumented Californians will still remain ineligible for Medi-Cal because they make too much money to qualify, but not enough to afford private insurance.

00:39:50.000 We really have to continue including more folks and to not kind of forget about the ones who just make a little bit over.

00:40:55.000 So she's like, I'm gonna go to the urgent care.

00:40:59.000 I gave her Tamiflu and something else.

00:41:08.000 Last week, guess how much they charged for her visit to the urgent care?
