00:00:00.000 What do you want to fix them to do?
00:00:02.000 Ask you some simple...
00:00:05.000 You're not going to be laughing, Barlow.
00:00:07.000 Every time this happens, you make me laugh.
00:00:08.000 You're the one sitting on this.
00:00:09.000 We've got a good Monica Lewinsky joke if you want to hear it.
00:00:11.000 Well, you want to hear it.
00:00:12.000 We're here with Lieutenant Beck, Commander of the Travis County SWAT Team and his offices on the fourth floor of the Travis County Command Center.
00:00:19.000 Sir?
00:00:21.000 County SWAT team commander, Lieutenant Beck, fourth floor of the Travis County Sheriff's Department.
00:00:29.000 How are you doing today, sir?
00:00:30.000 Just fine.
00:00:31.000 How are y'all?
00:00:32.000 We appreciate you stopping and talking with us.
00:00:34.000 When we walked in, we had the camera off.
00:00:35.000 One of your men was telling us about training with the Delta Force, but she wouldn't let us turn the camera on.
00:00:40.000 They were bullshitting you.
00:00:43.000 They were bullshitting you.
00:00:44.000 They are?
00:00:45.000 Well, you told us in the past that you were in contact with Delta.
00:00:48.000 That's right.
00:00:49.000 They've been contacting you?
00:00:50.000 No.
00:00:50.000 That was a one-time deal.
00:00:53.000 Just around the time we were talking about it, they just happened to call you and give you the...
00:00:57.000 No, no, no, no.
00:00:58.000 They had contacted me.
00:01:01.000 I think I explained it to you.
00:01:02.000 Once they had contacted me about training up here, and then after the San Antonio incident, they never did.
00:01:10.000 The San Antonio incident?
00:01:11.000 Yeah.
00:01:12.000 You mean when they endangered public safety?
00:01:14.000 I don't believe that they...
00:01:16.000 I don't think they did anything in San Antonio.
00:01:18.000 The police chief said they tried to bribe him down there.
00:01:20.000 Ali Philippus?
00:01:23.000 Did they try anything like that with you?
00:01:24.000 No.
00:01:25.000 Now, basically, I do appreciate you taking this time with us on such short notice.
00:01:29.000 You are a great member of the community, and we do appreciate your service, Lieutenant Beck.
00:01:35.000 But we've been told that the FEMA preparedness forces are here.
00:01:42.000 Federal Emergency Management Agency are now in Austin.
00:01:44.000 We just saw a news report this week about it, but we've been unable to find out exactly what type of training and where they're doing their training.
00:01:51.000 I'm not aware of that.
00:01:53.000 Seriously?
00:01:57.000 If I am correct on this, they were going...
00:02:09.000 I think the purpose was to familiarize and train emergency response crews on...
00:02:21.000 Like chemical and biological hazards.
00:02:24.000 That's this month.
00:02:26.000 We're told that in January they're going to have a full-scale simulation.
00:02:29.000 Have you heard anything about the full-scale simulation?
00:02:31.000 I haven't heard that.
00:02:32.000 The ones to talk to would be probably your firefighters and emergency medical service.
00:02:42.000 So the military training has been called off here in Austin.
00:02:47.000 For who?
00:02:48.000 For Delta?
00:02:49.000 When you first raised this issue that they had contacted you.
00:02:52.000 One of their front guys came to me and told me their plans.
00:03:02.000 Mostly it was not to train us.
00:03:06.000 It was not to train any people in this area.
00:03:10.000 There was a site that they wanted to train at and it was to notify us that they would be here.
00:03:20.000 Was that site the new drainage ditches, complexes they put in in East Austin?
00:03:25.000 No.
00:03:26.000 The area is east, but it is not in East Austin.
00:03:31.000 I'm not even sure if it's within the city limits.
00:03:34.000 Is it the church?
00:03:35.000 No, it was an area east of town.
00:03:38.000 It's real isolated.
00:03:43.000 Had they not notified me...
00:03:50.000 Of them coming there, no one would have even known.
00:03:53.000 They could have come and gone and no one would have known.
00:03:55.000 We're told they've already come and gone from our sources in the fire department and police department.
00:03:59.000 They never came here.
00:04:01.000 They never came here.
00:04:01.000 Our sources in the police department that cannot reveal themselves, some of them are very high level, have told us that they've actually been already training in East Austin.
00:04:08.000 No.
00:04:09.000 Why would they train in East Austin?
00:04:11.000 Well, it's funny.
00:04:12.000 I just brought up East Austin.
00:04:13.000 You said, yes, East Austin.
00:04:14.000 It was east of Austin.
00:04:16.000 I'm not even sure this area was in the...
00:04:20.000 City limits.
00:04:22.000 I'll put it this way.
00:04:23.000 I know where they were going to train at.
00:04:25.000 I'm not going to say where.
00:04:27.000 I'll just say it was a large tract of land that had some buildings on it where they were going to train at.
00:04:36.000 No one would have even noticed that they would have been there.
00:04:39.000 But don't they have large military bases and mock towns to do that?
00:04:42.000 Not necessarily.
00:04:43.000 They have mount sites.
00:04:46.000 Have you seen the television show when we played the chief police interview in San Antonio?
00:04:49.000 Yeah, I've seen that.
00:04:50.000 Where they talk about the dishonesty, the attempted bribery, the endangerment of public safety, the firing into the all-night restaurant in Miami?
00:04:56.000 I saw that.
00:04:59.000 I wasn't there.
00:05:00.000 I can't answer that.
00:05:05.000 It's only reasonable to assume.
00:05:08.000 It's like our SWAT team.
00:05:10.000 We have different training sites.
00:05:13.000 And after you train at one for so long, doing entries, you lose the value of the training because you go into an abandoned house that we might use.
00:05:24.000 Once you know the layout, your learning goes down because you know where everything's at.
00:05:32.000 Ideally, you need a different place every time.
00:05:35.000 Do you remember the conversation?
00:05:38.000 Lieutenant Beck, do you remember the conversation we had about nine months ago about federal forces wanting to train with local law enforcement and also in some cases actually engage in law enforcement with them and you said that would never happen?
00:05:53.000 Are you familiar with what's going on in the Hill Country now with the MPs riding around with the DPS?
00:05:59.000 No, I'm not familiar with that.
00:06:01.000 From my perspective, it's not the military that wants to train with law enforcement.
00:06:07.000 There are some law enforcement that train with the military.
00:06:12.000 It's kind of a misnomer.
00:06:18.000 The center of it is counter-narcotics.
00:06:24.000 And the reason the military provides the training, it all has to do with counter-narcotics.
00:06:29.000 They're not going to train you to go over and assault towns or stuff like that.
00:06:36.000 Everything has to be related to narcotic enforcement.
00:06:40.000 The military will provide the training, and it is not really the type of training that what you think it is.
00:06:47.000 It's not military per se.
00:06:49.000 It all has to do with narcotic enforcement, and it's geared towards smaller departments that can't afford training.
00:06:56.000 And our department, we've taken advantage of it, too.
00:07:02.000 You have to understand the reason that we're always so skeptical about this due to the...
00:07:08.000 San Antonio Express news articles about the helicopters coming in, the automatic weapons firing with live ammunition in the streets.
00:07:15.000 A police chief saying that they attempted to bribe him, endanger public safety.
00:07:19.000 No was never no.
00:07:20.000 They were dishonest with him.
00:07:21.000 That's the point.
00:07:22.000 What Delta tells you and what the feds tell you, Lieutenant Beck, from our experience, other departments' experiences, from newspaper accounts, they are dishonest and cannot be trusted.
00:07:34.000 Now, it's funny.
00:07:34.000 That wasn't my term.
00:07:35.000 You said you got a visit from...
00:07:37.000 Delta Forces front person?
00:07:40.000 I say it's a front man.
00:07:43.000 More properly, it's one of their advanced guys, and he came here to give me notification that they would be training in a particular area.
00:07:54.000 And it was to give us advance notice so that we would not have people calling in saying that there's a bunch of people running around with guns and stuff and having law enforcement agencies responding out there.
00:08:06.000 Did they train?
00:08:09.000 No.
00:08:10.000 Why did they not train?
00:08:11.000 I suppose the San Antonio had a lot to do with it.
00:08:15.000 But they did not come here.
00:08:19.000 And as far as training here now, no.
00:08:23.000 Our sources deep inside Fort Hood have notified us that at this time they are planning to train here in January.
00:08:32.000 I don't know why they would.
00:08:35.000 But you have to realize, Lieutenant Beck, I've been five steps ahead of this.
00:08:38.000 I tell you what's going to be happening in the future.
00:08:40.000 I assure you they plan to train here and they've been lying to you if they told you otherwise.
00:08:46.000 There's no reason for them to lie.
00:08:49.000 When they train, what's the secret of it?
00:08:52.000 Well, Congressman Lloyd Doggett, in an open letter to the Austin-American statesman several weeks ago, said that there will be a full-scale anti-terrorism simulation sometime in January and that the advance teams would be here in December.
00:09:06.000 FEMA? That's not Delta.
00:09:09.000 Well, Delta and Marine Force Recon and others, according to the Houston Chronicle and others, are attached to FEMA when they do these full-scale...
00:09:16.000 I don't know that.
00:09:17.000 I would be surprised.
00:09:18.000 If there are any military at all attached to FEMA, they're not going to be...
00:09:26.000 I would not suspect that they're special operations people.
00:09:30.000 They're more than likely the NBC, the guys who are trained in...
00:09:34.000 Nuclear, chemical, biological.
00:09:36.000 Yeah, that sort of thing.
00:09:38.000 And I do know from what I've heard here, all it is, it's reaction.
00:09:44.000 The training that they are proposing, it's all reactionary.
00:09:48.000 Mostly it's of a medical nature for victims.
00:09:52.000 If something does happen, if there's a derailment or a truck overturns, or you could have a terrorist or someone who came up with some biological weapon, how are the locals going to respond to it?
00:10:12.000 Did you see our program?
00:10:14.000 That happened September 3rd and 4th.
00:10:16.000 We actually scooped CNN News by two weeks.
00:10:20.000 We were airing it a week after the incident, about a week after September 3rd and 4th.
00:10:24.000 Marine Force Recon, 75 officers, to go back and train others, did mock gun confiscations in Hebron, Maryland.
00:10:31.000 And while they were doing it during the daytime, it was medical reasons.
00:10:35.000 They were doing mock injuries, mock chemical attacks.
00:10:39.000 And then at night, it took in their true role, which was...
00:10:42.000 Gun confiscation and the camera people were told to turn their cameras off in their own state.
00:10:47.000 I'm not familiar with that.
00:10:49.000 What do you mean by gun confiscation?
00:10:51.000 They were doing mock gun confiscation door-to-door with citizens that had agreed to go along with it.
00:10:58.000 I find that hard to bloop.
00:11:00.000 Well, you've seen the other programs.
00:11:01.000 You might have missed this one.
00:11:02.000 Perhaps I'll shoot you off a VHS copy, a half-inch copy, and bring it to you, Lieutenant.
00:11:07.000 That's fine.
00:11:08.000 I assure you I'm not exaggerating.
00:11:11.000 Well, you know, this is my day-to-day business, is SWAT. And I pretty much know what's going on, you know, in our mission.
00:11:25.000 And I assure you it is strictly law enforcement.
00:11:32.000 We don't have any military ambitions or...
00:11:40.000 Mission purview?
00:11:41.000 We don't operate along those lines.
00:11:44.000 What about the armored personnel carriers?
00:11:45.000 I know Austin has them and DPS has them.
00:11:47.000 Are you all attempting to purchase some?
00:11:50.000 Purchase?
00:11:51.000 No.
00:11:52.000 Acquire?
00:11:53.000 Yes.
00:11:53.000 Free ones from the military?
00:11:55.000 If it's possible.
00:11:59.000 Specifically, we need one.
00:12:05.000 Were any of your men or were you out?
00:12:08.000 Last Friday after the UT, Texas A&M football game when they had the Travis County helicopters going down the streets and the armored personnel carrier out there.
00:12:18.000 After the football game?
00:12:20.000 You're not?
00:12:20.000 We worked the football game.
00:12:22.000 I mean, after the football game on Guadalupe Street.
00:12:26.000 No.
00:12:27.000 That was DPS, I believe, wasn't it?
00:12:30.000 DPS and UT police.
00:12:31.000 Well, I could kick myself for missing it.
00:12:33.000 I've now talked to around 30 eyewitnesses that they had police.
00:12:36.000 Literally shutting down the road, marching down in riot gear with an armored personnel carrier rolling from behind, and the new Travis County Sabre 1 and Sabre 2 police helicopters.
00:12:45.000 We don't have any police helicopters.
00:12:49.000 We don't have any police helicopters.
00:12:52.000 Starflight has a new helicopter.
00:12:56.000 It's configured for medical missions.
00:13:01.000 There are no law enforcement helicopters.
00:13:04.000 DPS has one.
00:13:06.000 Lieutenant Beck, I think you were kind of smiling there.
00:13:10.000 Well, I am smiling about it.
00:13:12.000 And the reason I am is you know why.
00:13:15.000 I mean, the Sheriff's Department, we explored the idea of getting a helicopter for law enforcement.
00:13:25.000 And you were quite vocal over there.
00:13:31.000 I think mostly the budget is what shut us down.
00:13:34.000 But there is a need for a helicopter exclusively for law enforcement.
00:13:40.000 I would actually agree with that.
00:13:42.000 I would actually agree that when we read the purchase orders, it said Sheriff's Department Command Complex as part of the decentralization plan, which I'm sure you're familiar with.
00:13:53.000 The problem is we now have the head of EMS. What's his name?
00:13:57.000 Chubby fellow.
00:13:59.000 We actually have that on tape.
00:14:00.000 The head of EMS telling us that y'all...
00:14:03.000 The Sheriff's Department use your own crews, and then it's Sabre 1 and Sabre 2. No, no, no.
00:14:09.000 We don't have any flight crews here.
00:14:13.000 As a matter of fact, had we been able to acquire a helicopter, we were going to train some officers to be pilots, and I was asked to be one of them.
00:14:27.000 And the only reason I've got commercial...
00:14:29.000 Multi-instrument, seaplane.
00:14:32.000 I've got gobs of fixed-wing experience, and I also have years as a crew chief on a helicopter.
00:14:40.000 In Vietnam?
00:14:41.000 No.
00:14:41.000 I was in the Marines from 69 to 72, and then in the National Guard.
00:14:46.000 And the reason, it would take me about a 30-hour transition course to go over from fixed-wing to rotary-wing.
00:14:52.000 We don't have any crews.
00:14:56.000 The Sabre 1 and Sabre 2 are radio calls.
00:15:01.000 When Starflight is on a law enforcement mission, that's the radio calls that they'll go by.
00:15:08.000 Are you aware that a national magazine has picked up that story, The Three American?
00:15:14.000 We have the tower records from Simeon Tungle at Austin Aviation Department.
00:15:18.000 We also have Karen Sunlightner finally admitting it in the court.
00:15:22.000 My mother got a four-hour surveillance mission.
00:15:28.000 I see.
00:15:29.000 You had talked to me about that.
00:15:31.000 First off, I don't think...
00:15:33.000 They said it was APD piggybacking.
00:15:35.000 APD piggybacking?
00:15:37.000 What do you mean?
00:15:37.000 That's Karen Sunliner.
00:15:40.000 She said it was an Austin Police Department piggyback surveillance mission.
00:15:46.000 Now, just off what I'm guessing, it may have been the...
00:15:53.000 The Starflight helicopter, APD may have requested to use it for some reason for, I don't know...
00:16:01.000 It was a murder investigation of my parents and it was a murder investigation across town at Mike's house.
00:16:07.000 A murder investigation of your parents?
00:16:09.000 That is what, well, it was over their property for an hour straight, taking photos of my mother at above, not even 150 feet.
00:16:23.000 I can see them using a helicopter to take pictures of an area.
00:16:33.000 Now, we've done that before.
00:16:34.000 We've had homicides, especially homicides, where we want to get an overall picture of the area.
00:16:43.000 They'll use the helicopter.
00:16:44.000 That's the only thing we have.
00:16:46.000 And they have done that before.
00:16:48.000 They'll videotape it, take some stills.
00:16:51.000 That becomes evidence.
00:16:53.000 It's a helpful investigative tool for the detectives.
00:16:56.000 It's also good if, when you go to court, when you have a jury, you can say the body was found right here, here's the road, you know, the murder weapon was here.
00:17:08.000 Now, they do use that for the...
00:17:10.000 There was a murder a year and a half ago, about half a mile from where my parents live, and we would have bought that story of what happened October 9th.
00:17:19.000 But then October 10th, in the early hours, actually October 11th by then, Mike calls me at 2 in the morning and says, we have a helicopter flying over, turning on its light only when it gets here.
00:17:29.000 He got the actual video by the time he got his camera out and got it, got two more passes, where it flies over, turns its light on.
00:17:35.000 That's a separate part of Austin, 15 miles away.
00:17:37.000 Then my girlfriend calls, without even knowing about this, crying that a helicopter was shining a light into her windows at her place in central Austin.
00:17:44.000 There's only two Starflight helicopters.
00:17:47.000 We are very, when we use them, we're very picky when we use them because it costs money.
00:17:57.000 I'm just off the top of my head, is we probably pay operating costs maybe $300 an hour for the helicopters.
00:18:05.000 You know, it's fuel, maintenance, crew and all that.
00:18:08.000 So you just don't call up and say, hey, let's go take some pictures.
00:18:13.000 It better be something good.
00:18:15.000 And it better be worth the money.
00:18:18.000 But just joy riding around, no.
00:18:20.000 The law enforcement, we don't do that.
00:18:23.000 A helicopter with four hours of fuel, that's something I'm unfamiliar with.
00:18:28.000 Well, it was logged in at the tower with a four-hour surveillance mission.
00:18:31.000 The primary purpose of those two helicopters is Starflight for medical.
00:18:37.000 Matter of fact, right now, if I needed a helicopter for a law enforcement reason, And they were on a medical run or something, the medical takes priority.
00:18:48.000 And that's why the Sheriff's Department wanted a helicopter exclusively for law enforcement.
00:18:53.000 And that has happened in the past where we want to use a helicopter for a search or something.
00:18:58.000 Or up at the lake, have a boat overturned or missing kids or something.
00:19:03.000 Or something comes up where we have an escapee.
00:19:07.000 We can't get the helicopter because they're either on a medical run.
00:19:11.000 Okay, go ahead.
00:19:13.000 Don't get this off here.
00:19:16.000 Ready?
00:19:17.000 No, not the type of what we want.
00:19:21.000 Why don't you turn?
00:19:22.000 Lieutenant Beck S Commander of the Vaughan SS here in Central Texas.
00:19:26.000 Ah, yavo.
00:19:27.000 And I know that'll be on TV. Can we get a shot of your patch?
00:19:36.000 You've already got a shot of the patch.
00:19:39.000 So y'all are the Strike Cobras?
00:19:42.000 Actually this patch was stolen from the Tulsa, Oklahoma PD and if any of them were watching and they see it, they're going to say, whoa.
00:19:50.000 But no, that's a similar to a SWAT patch Tulsa PD has.
00:19:55.000 So that's your Strike Cobra?
00:20:00.000 It's not a Strike Cobra.
00:20:02.000 There's always the mongoose.
00:20:05.000 There's always the mongoose?
00:20:06.000 Always the mongoose.
00:20:08.000 Y'all gonna crush them?
00:20:09.000 No, no.
00:20:09.000 These patches, like I've told you in the past, these uniforms, we would like to change things out.
00:20:16.000 Get gray.
00:20:17.000 Go to gray.
00:20:18.000 Anything.
00:20:19.000 Well, that's the funny thing.
00:20:20.000 In the penal code, it says that for officers to give tickets or to arrest people, they have to be in proper uniform, and that's a dark gray or dark blue with a cap that matches.
00:20:30.000 It doesn't say that.
00:20:31.000 Yes, it does.
00:20:32.000 We got it in the car.
00:20:36.000 Uniforms come in all colors.
00:20:37.000 I'm talking about for SWAT, the black, get away from the black.
00:20:41.000 You don't like black?
00:20:42.000 Not particularly.
00:20:43.000 It's hot in the summer.
00:20:47.000 At nighttime, this sticks out almost like a white.
00:20:51.000 Who wanted you in black?
00:20:52.000 This goes back to years and years ago when the first SWAT teams were in black.
00:20:58.000 None of us like it.
00:20:59.000 All of us want to change to a different color.
00:21:04.000 Finances.
00:21:05.000 It always comes back to money.
00:21:06.000 Plus the fence.
00:21:09.000 Yes, Beck.
00:21:13.000 You got people making sure we were all right.
00:21:15.000 No, no.
00:21:17.000 A few other questions.
00:21:20.000 What do you think about Brady 2 and the computers not working the first few days and people not being able to purchase firearms?
00:21:27.000 Personally, it pisses me off the whole...
00:21:29.000 I have not...
00:21:32.000 We haven't used it yet, but I think the whole thing's a crock.
00:21:37.000 But won't we be safer when only criminals can have guns?
00:21:40.000 You know the answer to that.
00:21:45.000 You're going to find the staunchest supporters of citizens, their right to bear arms is going to be at the cops.
00:22:02.000 I've seen that, and I've read that in a lot of law enforcement magazines.
00:22:04.000 The problem is the people that give you your orders are trying to make it completely illegal.
00:22:09.000 Who gives us our orders?
00:22:11.000 All the federal money that comes into these areas, the people that get elected by the moron citizenry.
00:22:17.000 That's who you take your orders from.
00:22:19.000 Is it not?
00:22:23.000 I should say no, but perhaps in a roundabout way.
00:22:28.000 No, we don't get orders like that, and we never are.
00:22:31.000 I don't know about Brady, too.
00:22:33.000 The whole Brady bill is a bunch of crap.
00:22:37.000 Now, you've got, actually, the Delta Force numbers in there inside your little Rolodex, don't you?
00:22:42.000 I have a business card.
00:22:45.000 Can we see the business card, Lieutenant Vogue?
00:22:47.000 You've seen it before, Alex.
00:22:49.000 Can we see it one more time?
00:22:50.000 We'll cover up the name.
00:22:50.000 Why?
00:22:51.000 Cover up the name.
00:22:53.000 We just want to get a close-up of the symbol.
00:22:56.000 I don't think there's a symbol on it, is there?
00:23:00.000 Yes, there's a symbol.
00:23:01.000 There's a symbol.
00:23:04.000 Don't get the numbers on it, though.
00:23:06.000 The camera can't get close enough.
00:23:08.000 Oh, let us get a shot of the symbol.
00:23:10.000 It's just a typical, as far as I know, is that Department of Army symbol on it?
00:23:15.000 Yep.
00:23:18.000 There's nothing special about Delta Force.
00:23:20.000 It's a military outfit.
00:23:22.000 They're in the Army.
00:23:24.000 It's just the most elite military team out there.
00:23:27.000 That's an opinion.
00:23:28.000 Maybe the Israelis are...
00:23:30.000 Well, I'm sure in Israel, an Israeli would tell you that.
00:23:33.000 If you ask a Navy SEAL, he's going to tell you that.
00:23:35.000 Well, I think the Israelis get more practice than the real deal.
00:23:37.000 You know, if you ask a Marine Force Recon, he's going to tell you he's the most elite.
00:23:43.000 I might get a close-up of this.
00:23:44.000 I want a close-up of the symbol.
00:23:47.000 Well, there's a Delta Force.
00:23:49.000 Come on, Alan.
00:23:51.000 Don't burn us out.
00:23:53.000 It's a ten-year-old camera.
00:23:54.000 I won't even get close-ups.
00:23:55.000 How long?
00:23:56.000 Yes, I can.
00:23:56.000 I can get the picture.
00:24:01.000 Department of Defense.
00:24:05.000 Should say United Socialists of America.
00:24:12.000 There you go.
00:24:13.000 Did you get it?
00:24:14.000 Yeah, as close as you're going to get it.
00:24:15.000 We have it.
00:24:17.000 I have, let's see, what else do you want?
00:24:21.000 It'll lieutenant back nice.
00:24:24.000 You don't have any other numbers in there?
00:24:27.000 Personal stuff.
00:24:29.000 What about Marine Force Recon?
00:24:30.000 I was into Marines.
00:24:32.000 I know.
00:24:36.000 These guys got better things to do than come to Austin and mess around.
00:24:43.000 They tried to come to Austin.
00:24:45.000 Delta Force did.
00:24:46.000 Yes, but I want to ask you why.
00:24:49.000 If they're not so dangerous, why did a police chief, former military, Ali Phillips, in San Antonio, say they tried to bribe him?
00:24:58.000 I don't know what happened down there.
00:25:00.000 I mean, Delta Force, it's counter-terrorist, and it can very easily...
00:25:06.000 The United States is the most open country in the world for terrorists, and we have not yet begun to see terrorist acts.
00:25:19.000 And the only thing they're doing is training.
00:25:21.000 Are you familiar with Oklahoma City?
00:25:25.000 Somewhat.
00:25:26.000 I mean, you've got to know, being in the Marines and being a pilot and everything else, that that building was blown out, not in.
00:25:31.000 There was no crater.
00:25:32.000 I don't know.
00:25:33.000 I didn't see that.
00:25:34.000 What about the seismographs?
00:25:36.000 I don't know.
00:25:37.000 What about the BATF and the FBI being off the ninth floor?
00:25:41.000 There were ATF agents killed in that.
00:25:45.000 Huh?
00:25:46.000 I've got the Senate hearings.
00:25:47.000 It was my understanding that there were some ATF agents killed in that.
00:25:52.000 I know there were some federal law enforcement officers that perished in that.
00:25:58.000 Well, it was a federal office building.
00:26:00.000 Yeah.
00:26:01.000 So, basically, again, we're talking to Lieutenant Beck, commander of the Travis County Strike Force team.
00:26:09.000 The Strike Force team, yeah.
00:26:13.000 Again, we're here talking with Lieutenant Beck, commander of the Travis County SWAT team.
00:26:20.000 You do not know where the NBC teams are training this week in Austin.
00:26:26.000 And you haven't heard that they're here in Austin?
00:26:29.000 No.
00:26:31.000 Now, mostly from what I read on that, FEMA's come from the newspaper.
00:26:36.000 And like I told you, I don't think law enforcement...
00:26:40.000 Is that big a role player in it?
00:26:42.000 I think mostly it's for the firefighters and medical personnel.
00:26:50.000 Just to get used to working with FEMA and being friends.
00:26:55.000 Are you familiar with the Senate hearings about FEMA and the concentration camps?
00:26:59.000 No.
00:27:00.000 Are you familiar that the Manazar prison camp has been reopened, the camp in the high deserts of California that held 110,000 Japanese?
00:27:07.000 New fences are being put up.
00:27:10.000 Was it someone's private resort now?
00:27:12.000 No.
00:27:14.000 It says Department of Justice Federal Prison Camp.
00:27:17.000 I'm not aware of that.
00:27:20.000 My immediate concerns are Travis County.
00:27:26.000 We don't get involved with things.
00:27:31.000 Is that military time?
00:27:32.000 Yes, it is.
00:27:35.000 That's military time.
00:27:38.000 You're heading to New Orleans today, aren't you?
00:27:39.000 Yeah.
00:27:40.000 Well, we'll let you get out of here.
00:27:41.000 Lieutenant Beck, I appreciate the time.
00:27:43.000 What are you going to do if Delta Force tries to come back into Austin?
00:27:48.000 Try to get some training out of them or get some, you know, whatever equipment they have that's not nailed down and they're not looking.
00:27:55.000 I guess we'll take it.
00:27:57.000 Do you think exposing corruption had anything to do with the fact that Delta Force decided not to attempt to train here?
00:28:02.000 No.
00:28:03.000 I don't know why.
00:28:04.000 They said they were going to train, correct?
00:28:06.000 I do know it is...
00:28:07.000 From that point of view, I can see their point of view.
00:28:12.000 We train once a week, and if I could do it, I would change the training site every week.
00:28:20.000 It's counterproductive to go to the same place every time and train.
00:28:26.000 It serves no purpose.
00:28:31.000 And if I could move my people...
00:28:34.000 Every week to a different training site.
00:28:36.000 With a new restaurant to fire bullets into?
00:28:41.000 When they mean by live ammo...
00:28:45.000 Ceramic.
00:28:46.000 The ceramic type...
00:28:48.000 But you saw the article on my television show.
00:28:50.000 They fired into an all-out restaurant.
00:28:52.000 I'm sure that was not intentional.
00:28:54.000 What about the crash in the helicopter in Sugar Land, Texas last year?
00:28:58.000 I'm not aware of that.
00:28:59.000 That was Delta.
00:29:00.000 You also saw the article if you saw the show about them...
00:29:03.000 Doing $100,000 damage to a warehouse in New Orleans.
00:29:08.000 That's easy to do.
00:29:09.000 Now, the price figure, I don't know.
00:29:12.000 We have gone to training sites where I have had to tell the people, you know, watch what you're doing.
00:29:21.000 Don't kick this.
00:29:22.000 Don't overturn that.
00:29:23.000 It's real easy to do it during tactical operations.
00:29:26.000 When you're going in, you might want to hit a door or something like that.
00:29:29.000 And I can see where, yes, you could do some damage.
00:29:33.000 And that's something that we face all the time, too.
00:29:38.000 Well, do you share the chief of police in San Antonio's view that you don't want to endanger public safety by having these military teams ransacking areas?
00:29:50.000 No, I don't.
00:29:52.000 They're not going to endanger public safety.
00:29:56.000 That's the American military we're talking about.
00:29:59.000 They are not going to endanger...
00:30:01.000 But are they the American military?
00:30:02.000 Did you read the paper Tuesday about the German troops?
00:30:05.000 The Germans have been here for years.
00:30:07.000 Since 1991?
00:30:09.000 Prior to that.
00:30:10.000 But why now is there such a big furor?
00:30:12.000 Because what they're doing, they're doing some low-level flying in their tornadoes, the jets.
00:30:20.000 They're doing some low-level flying in West Texas and it has some of the sheep and cattle farmers out there upset.
00:30:27.000 That's been going on for years.
00:30:29.000 The German Air Force has been here for years and years.
00:30:33.000 I think they're out of Luke and Tucson.
00:30:36.000 Matter of fact...
00:30:37.000 They're also out of Holloman.
00:30:38.000 I don't know.
00:30:40.000 They actually leased the base.
00:30:41.000 Okay.
00:30:42.000 They have been here for years.
00:30:43.000 Do they have diplomatic immunity?
00:30:45.000 I don't think so.
00:30:46.000 They're claiming it.
00:30:47.000 I don't know.
00:30:48.000 Oh, they're claiming that...
00:30:50.000 Diplomatic immunity means you can run somebody over.
00:30:54.000 No, that was brought up.
00:30:57.000 Somewhat familiar with the tornado jet that they're flying is a low-level attack deal.
00:31:04.000 And I can see why they would be training here in the southwest.
00:31:08.000 There's nothing in Europe like that where they can be training.
00:31:11.000 And you can imagine that they're training for Middle East.
00:31:14.000 Where it's flat.
00:31:16.000 Yeah.
00:31:16.000 But that's been going on.
00:31:18.000 I mean, even back into the 60s, they have trained here.
00:31:23.000 What about the Russians out of Fort Hood?
00:31:25.000 I don't think there are any Russians at Fort Hood.
00:31:29.000 Have you been with the Russians?
00:31:31.000 Have I been with the Russians?
00:31:32.000 No, no.
00:31:34.000 So you haven't been in contact with the Russians at Fort Hood?
00:31:38.000 No.
00:31:39.000 This unit, we trained at Fort Hood about two months ago at one of the Mount sites.
00:31:46.000 Mount sites?
00:31:47.000 Mount, M-O-U-T. It's the complex where they have the buildings and stuff.
00:31:54.000 But you didn't...
00:31:55.000 No, it was our own team training.
00:31:59.000 You know, you can go to these army bases.
00:32:03.000 I've been to Fort McClellan over in Alabama.
00:32:06.000 And you'll see soldiers from different countries there.
00:32:11.000 You'll see English and German and British.
00:32:15.000 And Russian.
00:32:18.000 If there are Russian soldiers there...
00:32:23.000 I would imagine that they're armor, probably tank, and that there's probably, I wouldn't say there's that many, and there's probably officers over here for some exchange program or something like that.
00:32:37.000 You know, my own son, when he was in the Coast Guard here two years ago in Alaska, the Russians sent over a cutter-type ship, and they trained together.
00:32:53.000 On sea rescues.
00:32:55.000 Do you think it was a good thing that President Clinton transferred the nuclear weapons, guidance, propulsion, separation, and multiple warhead delivery system to the Chinese military?
00:33:05.000 No, obviously that's not a good idea, but I don't know if that occurred.
00:33:11.000 You haven't heard about that in the press?
00:33:13.000 No, I think I've read something about it.
00:33:16.000 How does it feel to know our military is serving under President Clinton?
00:33:20.000 I'm not a Clinton fan.
00:33:24.000 Like I said, like I told you before, Clinton's not going to be here very long.
00:33:28.000 He's not getting impeached.
00:33:30.000 Did you hear about Henry Hyde, Judiciary Committee Chairman, refusing to investigate him?
00:33:34.000 Refusing to investigate him on campaign finance?
00:33:37.000 That has the China connection under him?
00:33:40.000 Clinton is not the last one.
00:33:41.000 They say he's the Commander-in-Chief, and he may be.
00:33:45.000 But there's a lot of...
00:33:48.000 He is not the final say.
00:33:53.000 I mean, he has advisors.
00:33:55.000 Like Sandy Berger and Secretary of Defense William Cohen, who's created the new 50 teams and the other 10 teams with the FEMA. So you're saying Clinton's held back by Madeleine Albright and he wasn't born here?
00:34:09.000 I would hope so.
00:34:10.000 You know she was born in Czechoslovakia.
00:34:11.000 I have no problems with that.
00:34:13.000 Her father was a communist diplomat.
00:34:15.000 I have no problems with that.
00:34:16.000 Why are there all these communists?
00:34:18.000 Do you remember John Shelley Kashvili, Chairman and Joint Chiefs of Staff?
00:34:24.000 Yeah, he was from Poland, wasn't he?
00:34:27.000 Yeah, he was from Poland.
00:34:28.000 His father, do you remember back in 1992, the big senator hearings when Colin Powell resigned, didn't want to work under Clinton, and he put Kashvili in and the senators asking about his father running death camps for the Nazis?
00:34:38.000 Do you remember that?
00:34:41.000 There was some...
00:34:42.000 Not exactly that.
00:34:43.000 I know there was some controversy about it.
00:34:45.000 Well, my point is, this is how serious it is.
00:34:48.000 We need y'all.
00:34:49.000 I mean, this stuff is...
00:34:50.000 I know at times it seems comical, all the wild stuff we talk about, but then later you see it happen, you get the phone calls from these people.
00:34:56.000 What I'm trying to say to you, Lieutenant Beck, is y'all are the Achilles' heel in this New World Order system, which is real.
00:35:03.000 When you've got a president with Cass Vili, who can barely speak English, sitting on his daddy's knee while he was...
00:35:09.000 Putting Jews in the ovens.
00:35:11.000 You've got Madeleine Albright, Secretary of State, born in Czechoslovakia, the daughter of a communist diplomat.
00:35:18.000 You've got Secretary of Defense William Cohen of Blue Blood from the East Coast, totally selling out our nation.
00:35:24.000 You've got Sandy Berger, National Security Advisor, that talks about global regimes of power at CFR meetings on C-SPAN. You've got this whole collection of people.
00:35:34.000 Are you familiar that the Panama Canal has now been handed over to the Chinese military?
00:35:39.000 I wasn't aware of the Chinese.
00:35:40.000 Well, you know that back in 1978 and 79, Carter said by 2000 it'll be given up fully and our troops will be pulled out by 1996. That was an agreement that we had with the Panamanians.
00:35:50.000 But what you have to realize is that that was nothing but jungle and we built that.
00:35:54.000 The French weren't able to.
00:35:55.000 Do you think it's a good security arrangement to allow the Chinese military to now have four ports on the Panama Canal?
00:36:04.000 I was unaware that they had ports down there.
00:36:07.000 Panama Canal back could be done in a couple of hours, if need be.
00:36:16.000 Because it's in our hemisphere of influence?
00:36:19.000 If it played such a strategic role and the United States had to take that thing back in half a day, it would be back under our control.
00:36:31.000 Perhaps today, and perhaps when the time comes, we don't have leadership.
00:36:36.000 Like President Clinton in the White House with his collection of bloodthirsty Europeans at his side.
00:36:41.000 The point is that America is being contained.
00:36:45.000 It's being encircled.
00:36:47.000 And I think it's a dangerous trend to allow the Chinese military to have four of the main ports.
00:36:52.000 Both the entrance at the east side and the exit at the west side of the Panama Canal.
00:36:57.000 Trust them.
00:36:58.000 Trust them.
00:36:59.000 Trust Clinton?
00:37:00.000 No, I don't trust Clinton.
00:37:02.000 Who do you trust?
00:37:05.000 Very few.
00:37:07.000 Very few people.
00:37:08.000 I trust my wife.
00:37:09.000 That's about it.
00:37:11.000 You and your wife back together and everything?
00:37:12.000 Yeah, yeah.
00:37:14.000 We're trying to work things out.
00:37:15.000 I won't put that on TV. Well, Lieutenant Beck, thanks for all the time.
00:37:19.000 If Delta Force comes into town and they're ever trying to confiscate firearms, are you going to go up against them?
00:37:25.000 Delta Force is not going to come here and...
00:37:28.000 How are you going to confiscate guns?
00:37:33.000 What if they're going door to door?
00:37:34.000 How are you going to do that?
00:37:36.000 What if FEMA, during an emergency, Y2K, wants you to go, say, to 50 different houses and pick up dangerous people?
00:37:41.000 As I said before, it will never come to that.
00:37:44.000 If Clinton says, take all the guns, for the next 25 years, there will be bickering among the different agencies on which one is going to be in charge of it, who's going to do it.
00:37:59.000 It will never happen.
00:38:02.000 It's physically impossible.
00:38:05.000 Lieutenant Beck, will you protect and defend the Constitution from enemies foreign and domestic?
00:38:10.000 I have sworn to that.
00:38:13.000 I mean, that's something that we have done in the military.
00:38:16.000 That's something that we do as law enforcement.
00:38:18.000 But President Clinton gave that oath, and he gave the missile seekers to the Chinese.
00:38:22.000 Well, that's his problem.
00:38:24.000 You know, not all of us.
00:38:26.000 Clinton may be the president, but he's not our leader.
00:38:29.000 You know?
00:38:32.000 He's not...
00:38:33.000 Fortunately, he's made a lot of mistakes, and he's going to pay for them.
00:38:40.000 Do you think he's going to be impeached?
00:38:42.000 No.
00:38:43.000 Regardless if he's impeached or what, he's not going to be the next president.
00:38:48.000 Well, his term's up.
00:38:49.000 Yeah.
00:38:51.000 But you think he is going to be punished?
00:38:59.000 Who cares?
00:39:02.000 Who cares?
00:39:03.000 You're just sick of him.
00:39:06.000 I don't dislike him and I don't like him.
00:39:12.000 Who cares?
00:39:14.000 It's no, you know, you can censor this.
00:39:21.000 It's no sweat off my balls what he does, you know?
00:39:24.000 If he wants to go and do whatever, more power to him.
00:39:31.000 Just give the Chinese the Panama Canal, give them their missile secrets?
00:39:34.000 No, I'm not that.
00:39:35.000 I'm talking about his own private affairs.
00:39:38.000 We didn't even bring those up.
00:39:40.000 Now, the Panama Canal, that has been in the treaty, I don't know if it was a treaty, but we knew for years and years it was going back to the Panamanians.
00:39:52.000 That it was going back to them, and I'm sure perhaps it helps their economy.
00:39:57.000 I don't know.
00:39:59.000 But I know even though if there's Chinese down there, we still control it.
00:40:06.000 But what about 20 years from now?
00:40:08.000 They're industrializing.
00:40:10.000 It comes down, whatever country has the most money to throw around is the country that's going to rule it.
00:40:17.000 And that's the point that we're trying to make here.
00:40:20.000 If we had good leadership here...
00:40:22.000 Leadership won't cut it.
00:40:24.000 They wouldn't have...
00:40:25.000 The will to activate the troops...
00:40:28.000 To defend that canal, we're allowing the Chinese military to come in.
00:40:32.000 What happens 20 years down the road, which is a blink in real politics, when we've got another person like Clinton, perhaps worse?
00:40:38.000 Look what the American people are accepting now.
00:40:40.000 What will they accept in the future?
00:40:41.000 I have no idea.
00:40:43.000 See, I believe traitors have taken this nation over.
00:40:45.000 I believe we've been usurped.
00:40:47.000 Well, we've probably been on the road to downslide ever since the Constitution was signed.
00:40:52.000 We've probably started the downslide right then and there.
00:40:55.000 Or possibly even when the first...
00:40:59.000 European settlers came over.
00:41:01.000 I'm sure that, you know, the Indians will say, well, we started going to shit right then.
00:41:06.000 And there may be some truth in that.
00:41:10.000 You know, the United States is a very young country.
00:41:13.000 So if President Clinton, let's say, allowed foreign troops and declared a U.N. emergency, we saw a speech at the U.N. six months ago about starting bringing in U.N. forces to try to stop drugs as a new crusade.
00:41:29.000 That's a Clinton fantasy?
00:41:34.000 It's not feasible.
00:41:36.000 Number one, there are enough.
00:41:39.000 If you're going to involve the military in that, we have enough troops.
00:41:45.000 Second of all, you're talking U.N., you're talking soldiers from different countries.
00:41:51.000 Not all of them speak English.
00:41:53.000 There's language barriers, there's equipment barriers.
00:41:56.000 So they're going to need y'all's help?
00:41:58.000 Who's help?
00:41:59.000 Ours?
00:41:59.000 Yes.
00:42:01.000 Well, they would not...
00:42:04.000 It is highly unlikely that we're going to have Italian soldiers in Del Rio stopping marijuana shipments.
00:42:13.000 Yes.
00:42:16.000 What about if they put in the national grid of biometrics, thumb scanners, retina scanners?
00:42:21.000 To get a driver's license, as they've already done, and then they connect it all on a national grid on that basis.
00:42:26.000 Wouldn't that bring the jurisdiction they need, the control?
00:42:28.000 How are they going to control?
00:42:30.000 I mean, you got thumb scanned, didn't you?
00:42:33.000 Yes.
00:42:33.000 And I refused it the second time.
00:42:35.000 Have you heard about the listening devices being put up by the feds here in Austin?
00:42:40.000 I heard that from Steve.
00:42:43.000 Was it you or Steve Lane here last week?
00:42:46.000 It was on the news.
00:42:47.000 I first heard about it from Steve.
00:42:50.000 Have you heard anything else about the listening devices?
00:42:52.000 No, but it's stupid.
00:42:55.000 What purpose?
00:42:57.000 I asked Steve about it.
00:42:58.000 Why?
00:42:59.000 And he said there was something that could triangulate gunshots or something like that.
00:43:03.000 That's what you got neighbors and telephones for.
00:43:07.000 So you're saying we don't need these federal listening devices that are being put in here in Austin?
00:43:12.000 Not for that purpose.
00:43:14.000 I don't know what purpose other...
00:43:16.000 I don't know.
00:43:17.000 That's the purpose that he told me.
00:43:20.000 But they could triangulate gunshots or what else?
00:43:24.000 I don't know.
00:43:25.000 The cameras on the, where is this, Mopac or something?
00:43:32.000 I understood it was where they could occasionally, well, they would have a bank of screens, and occasionally they could monitor traffic and see if there was any tie-ups or problems.
00:43:42.000 But the new FEMA center, you heard about that?
00:43:44.000 I don't know.
00:43:45.000 I'm not real familiar with FEMA. Well, the new FEMA Center, we passed the money for it in the last bond election, last month.
00:43:55.000 My only knowledge of FEMA is the federal agency that comes in after natural disasters, like the floods, that come in and assess damage.
00:44:12.000 Help the children.
00:44:13.000 Yeah, well, help the children, help the people.
00:44:16.000 That's my knowledge of them.
00:44:18.000 As far as them, I doubt if they're involved with anything military at all.
00:44:30.000 You doubt if they're involved in anything military?
00:44:32.000 I doubt that.
00:44:33.000 I don't know.
00:44:34.000 Well, Lieutenant Beck, thanks a lot for saying that you'll protect and defend the Constitution.
00:44:38.000 I will.
00:44:40.000 Strike Force Commander, Lieutenant Beck.
00:44:46.000 Let me tell you something about Quentin, though.
00:44:49.000 He's going to wait four years and run again and his wife's going to run in 2000. Oh no!
00:44:53.000 That already came out on Larry King last night.
00:44:56.000 Did you hear Monica went to her plastic surgery?
00:45:00.000 No.
00:45:02.000 She said, I want to get my love handles removed.
00:45:06.000 He said, why?
00:45:09.000 You won't be able to hear.
00:45:12.000 Get that, get that.
00:45:13.000 You want to sit in on tape?
00:45:14.000 No.
00:45:15.000 Tell us the Monica joke.
00:45:16.000 No.
00:45:17.000 Tell us the Monica joke.
00:45:19.000 All right.
00:45:20.000 Here we go.
00:45:22.000 You going to put this on TV? I'll put it on the roll end.
00:45:25.000 Okay.
00:45:25.000 What are you going to do?
00:45:26.000 Put it on the roll end.
00:45:27.000 No, listen.
00:45:28.000 Say this is Lieutenant Beck.
00:45:29.000 I got a Clinton joke.
00:45:32.000 It's Lieutenant Beck.
00:45:33.000 I got a Clinton joke.
00:45:34.000 Lieutenant Beck.
00:45:35.000 Commander Travis County Swatch.
00:45:36.000 All right.
00:45:37.000 I have a sense of humor.
00:45:38.000 Anyways, Monica went to her...
00:45:40.000 Start over with...
00:45:41.000 This is Lieutenant Beck, Travis County.
00:45:42.000 This is Lieutenant Beck, Travis County Sheriff's Department.
00:45:45.000 We do have a sense of humor.
00:45:47.000 Monica went to her plastic surgeon.
00:45:52.000 She asked the plastic surgeon, remove my love handles.
00:45:57.000 The doctor looked and said, why?
00:45:59.000 You wouldn't be able to hear.
00:46:03.000 That's good.
00:46:04.000 Got any more important numbers here we should look at?
00:46:07.000 No, hell no.
00:46:07.000 Any more Delta Force numbers or anything?
00:46:09.000 No.
00:46:11.000 Commander?
00:46:12.000 Ah, Saddam Hussein.
00:46:14.000 He's calling me.
00:46:15.000 Calling you.
00:46:16.000 We want your...
00:46:17.000 because nobody else does.
00:46:19.000 Hey, listen!
00:46:20.000 Our band.
00:46:21.000 We're trying to get a band.
00:46:23.000 Ours went tipped up.
00:46:24.000 Who are you going to hit, Commander?
00:46:25.000 I'm going to hit up the Commissioner's Court.
00:46:28.000 What is this shit?
00:46:32.000 Oh, that's a bid.
00:46:34.000 Now, is that Delta Force?
00:46:35.000 No, no, this is...
00:46:36.000 That's a Delta Force Communique there?
00:46:37.000 No.
00:46:38.000 That's something else.
00:46:40.000 No, this is a...
00:46:42.000 Delta Force giving you a call lately?
00:46:44.000 No.
00:46:45.000 No, our van.
00:46:51.000 We used to have...
00:46:51.000 I don't know if you ever saw it.
00:46:52.000 We had a black van that we carried our equipment in.
00:46:54.000 Oh, you've got a brand new Expedition, don't you?
00:46:56.000 No.
00:46:57.000 It's last year.
00:46:58.000 Big, shiny black one?
00:47:00.000 Big, dirty black one.
00:47:03.000 You going to put a big skull on the side?
00:47:06.000 No.
00:47:07.000 Actually, I think in March, I'm getting transferred.
00:47:10.000 Where?
00:47:12.000 Patrol.
00:47:13.000 I'm going to be on this reorganization.
00:47:18.000 You've been punished?
00:47:19.000 No.
00:47:20.000 It's a reorganization.
00:47:21.000 Are you going to get paid the same?
00:47:22.000 Oh, yeah.
00:47:23.000 Are they going to put maybe a guy in a pink uniform in here?
00:47:27.000 Yeah, a tutu.
00:47:30.000 Pink tutu.
00:47:30.000 Is that the sheriff's idea?
00:47:32.000 I don't know.
00:47:33.000 No, I don't think there's going to be a SWAT lieutenant.
00:47:37.000 Al will still be here.
00:47:39.000 Basically, they're going to find somebody that does want to go door-to-door and take up their guns.
00:47:44.000 No.
00:47:45.000 No, it's a complete reorganization.
00:47:47.000 Here it is right here.
00:47:50.000 Central Command.
00:47:52.000 That's east.
00:47:54.000 Oh, you're going to be a command over patrol.
00:47:56.000 Yeah, I'll be on midnight.
00:48:00.000 I have two sergeants and 13 officers.
00:48:02.000 Two sergeants and 13 officers?
00:48:05.000 Thank you very much, General.
00:48:07.000 Anyways, listen.
00:48:11.000 Do you want off SWAT? No.
00:48:13.000 Well, put it this way.
00:48:17.000 You're a nice guy.
00:48:18.000 That's why they're throwing you off SWAT. Yeah, probably so.
00:48:20.000 Probably so.
00:48:21.000 If my job was purely SWAT, I would love to stay here.
00:48:28.000 But there's more to it.
00:48:29.000 I have, you know, narcotics, the intelligence unit.
00:48:34.000 Oh, the intelligence unit?
00:48:36.000 It's criminal intelligence.
00:48:38.000 Mostly we deal with parolees and stuff.
00:48:41.000 There's a lot of bullshit that comes with this.
00:48:44.000 We also have the warrants.
00:48:46.000 If it was purely SWAT, I'd love it.
00:48:48.000 But with the little extras, you know, they can have it.
00:48:53.000 Really?
00:48:53.000 Yeah.
00:48:54.000 So you're going to give up the black uniform?
00:48:56.000 For the brown.
00:48:58.000 Alright.
00:48:58.000 Oh, so you'll no longer be a black shirt, you'll be a brown shirt.
00:49:00.000 A brown shirt.
00:49:01.000 There we go.
00:49:02.000 You get my brown jack boots.
00:49:04.000 Thanks a lot.
00:49:05.000 I don't know if I can get a sword or not with it.
00:49:07.000 You even know, ooh, you want a sword.
00:49:10.000 Yeah, I've got to have a sword.
00:49:11.000 SS sword?
00:49:14.000 Uh, I don't know.
00:49:17.000 It's either that or a pirate.
00:49:18.000 Oh, let me ask you one more question.
00:49:20.000 I know you've been here with us for an hour, but last question of about 20. I'm serious.
00:49:24.000 You have to go.
00:49:25.000 I understand.
00:49:26.000 Tell us real fast, Lieutenant Beck, before you head out of town, I know you've been working hard all week.
00:49:30.000 How come y'all are so cowardly that you won't have a shooting contest with me when I'll defeat you up and down the street?
00:49:36.000 No one backed out.
00:49:39.000 Sheriff Frazier determined that it would probably be in the best interest not to do it.
00:49:48.000 Some people would take it in good light and support it.
00:49:53.000 And I'm sure there were other people who would take it the wrong way and give us all a hard time about it.
00:50:00.000 We saw some Marines when we first came in.
00:50:01.000 What were they doing here in the building?
00:50:02.000 The Marines?
00:50:04.000 Were they in uniform?
00:50:06.000 We didn't have our cameras on.
00:50:07.000 No, they're recruiters.
00:50:08.000 The Marines are here recruiting officers?
00:50:11.000 No, no, no, no.
00:50:14.000 Our central records is located on this floor.
00:50:18.000 And up here you'll see the Army recruiters, Air Force, Navy, Marines.
00:50:22.000 They come up.
00:50:23.000 They're doing background checks on recruits to see if they have a calendar out of one of them.
00:50:29.000 They just come up and visit?
00:50:30.000 No, they don't visit.
00:50:31.000 They don't come to SWAT. They go to Central Records.
00:50:34.000 They're checking to see if the applicant has an arrest record.
00:50:38.000 Just tell us they're coming to take over.
00:50:40.000 No, no, no, no.
00:50:41.000 These young guys now in the service, nah.
00:50:44.000 They're just up visiting?
00:50:45.000 No, they're working.
00:50:48.000 I mean, they're doing the background checks on their little recruits that they're taking in.
00:50:53.000 Gotcha.
00:50:53.000 Well, thank you very much, General.
00:50:54.000 All right.
00:50:56.000 This is Jesse Mariah Andrews, and I love Hanson Archives.
00:51:05.000 Is that who's gotten the most arrests personally?
00:51:07.000 No.
00:51:08.000 These guys, they go out and they make 200 or 300 arrests a year.
00:51:13.000 Hold on, hold on, hold on.
00:51:14.000 You're saying...
00:51:16.000 We're here talking to Strike Force Commander, Lieutenant Beck.
00:51:18.000 No.
00:51:20.000 Lucky Strike Force.
00:51:22.000 I quit smoking.
00:51:24.000 We're here talking to Lieutenant Beck, Commander Travis County squad team.
00:51:27.000 And right here we have Team 1, huh?
00:51:31.000 We have Team 2. And you can see I'm running out of time.
00:51:39.000 I made three and a half arrests, and he's ahead of me by...
00:51:42.000 This is for Saturday night live.
00:51:44.000 What, two and eight and nine or something?
00:51:47.000 No, we don't see...
00:51:49.000 These guys, they make a hundred arrests a month.
00:51:53.000 We don't do that.
00:51:54.000 These are just little...
00:51:54.000 Oh, let me ask you a question.
00:51:55.000 What did you think of Kirk Watson, the mayor of Austin, giving all the legislators zero parking tickets?
00:52:00.000 I don't get that.
00:52:01.000 Do you get that?
00:52:02.000 No.
00:52:03.000 Why did Kirk Watson do that?
00:52:06.000 I don't know.
00:52:07.000 Good question.
00:52:08.000 Can you get me one?
00:52:10.000 I hear that.
00:52:10.000 I need to have immunity from parking tickets.
00:52:16.000 What's he doing?
00:52:17.000 Letting all the legislators?
00:52:18.000 What did I say?
00:52:19.000 I forgot what I said.
00:52:20.000 What did you say?
00:52:21.000 You sure wish you had one, too?
00:52:23.000 No.
00:52:24.000 Yes, sir.
00:52:26.000 What do you think of Mayor Kirk Watson coming out and saying that state legislators in Austin don't get tickets?
00:52:34.000 They're immune from it.
00:52:35.000 I think they ought to all get tickets.
00:52:37.000 They ought to all get tickets?
00:52:39.000 No favoritism.
00:52:40.000 But Kirk Watson?
00:52:42.000 They're not better than anybody else.
00:52:45.000 No better than anybody else.
00:52:48.000 If they do something wrong, they deserve a ticket.
00:52:50.000 And what did you say Kirk Watson's doing to them?
00:52:53.000 Favoritism.
00:52:53.000 But you had a different word.
00:52:55.000 Scratching their back.
00:52:56.000 Well, the other one.
00:53:00.000 Oh, there he goes.
00:53:06.000 And we'll get right back to your classic video here on Hanson Archives or if you're watching Mike Hanson Archives on YouTube.
00:53:17.000 Just want to remind you, you'll see the address pop up, our phone number.
00:53:24.000 I want to invite you to buy my book here.
00:53:27.000 It's when Alex and I snuck into the Bohemia Grove.
00:53:33.000 The book is called Bohemia Grove, Cult of Conspiracy.
00:53:38.000 If you send $25 to that address, I'll sign it.
00:53:42.000 And what will happen with the money is something good.
00:53:46.000 We're taking all the hundreds and hundreds of VCR tapes, which we used to use in the old days, and transferring them over to computer and putting them up on the internet, which is...
00:54:04.000 Very hard job, believe it or not.
00:54:06.000 And very expensive job.
00:54:09.000 So, if you get a chance, and Tex Morris just actually just passed away.
00:54:15.000 He's the one that forwarded the book.
00:54:19.000 And he just barely passed away a month or two ago.
00:54:23.000 And there's Alex and I when we were younger.
00:54:28.000 We both looked pretty good there then.
00:54:33.000 It's 25 years later now.
00:54:36.000 But go ahead and if you can.
00:54:40.000 Also, if you want to call that number, we also got a credit card machine.
00:54:44.000 We can charge it if you need to.
00:54:48.000 I know a lot of people don't like to send a money order or a check or anything like that, but we'll get it right back out to you.
00:54:55.000 $25 for the book and it will go for a good cause.
00:55:01.000 God bless, and now we're going to get back to your classic video.
00:55:06.000 Now you're going to get this here, Mises in here scratching.
00:55:09.000 Here we are.
00:55:10.000 We're in Death Command Central, going down with the lieutenant.
00:55:14.000 The slowest elevator in Austin.
00:55:16.000 Notice it's black to cover up the bloodstains from us beating on the doors when we get stuck in it.
00:55:24.000 Seriously.
00:55:29.000 Where would y'all park your APC? Downstairs?
00:55:32.000 It wouldn't be used, maybe.
00:55:36.000 So you're saying Delta Force rode right up on this elevator?
00:55:41.000 One guy?
00:55:43.000 But the front man, as you call him.
00:55:46.000 So the Delta Force front man rode up this elevator.
00:55:50.000 Yeah, I think we're going to put a plaque up here that you give them guys...
00:55:59.000 Don't let the special ops...
00:56:02.000 You could deal with special ops, couldn't you?
00:56:08.000 Yeah.
00:56:08.000 We're going to need your help when they come into town.
00:56:10.000 Oh, yeah.
00:56:10.000 You going to join up with the forces to smash them?
00:56:13.000 The highest paid, I guess, would take me.
00:56:16.000 The highest paid, huh?
