Summary

Summaries generated with gmurro/bart-large-finetuned-filtered-spotify-podcast-summ .

Brother Ishmael had a reputation among the Quraysh as being a person of excellent character. Before he received the wahi, he had the reputation of being someone who was soft in speech, good manners, a soft spoken person, and someone who took care of others. I saw these traits in him before he received his wahi. In this video, I share three lessons from his life that we can all take from.

00:00:00.000 As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh
00:00:02.000 Brothers and sisters and dear friends
00:00:04.000 I've been meaning to do this video for the past two weeks
00:00:06.000 Since Prophet Ishmael passed away
00:00:08.000 But due to a few other reasons, I didn't get a chance to do it
00:00:10.000 SubhanAllah
00:00:12.000 But anyways, I want to share three things from Prophet Ishmael's life
00:00:14.000 That we all can take an amazing lesson from
00:00:16.000 Number one, one thing that I saw in him
00:00:18.000 I've never met him in person
00:00:20.000 Never met him in person
00:00:22.000 But when I saw him, it's as if
00:00:24.000 I feel like I can vouch for him
00:00:26.000 Like, usually Umar ibn Khattab 0.78
00:00:28.000 Don't vouch for anyone unless you've travelled with them
00:00:30.000 You've done business with them
00:00:32.000 And you've lived with them
00:00:34.000 But with brother Ishmael, it's as if I could vouch for him
00:00:36.000 I could say, you know what brother, yeah, you know
00:00:38.000 I vouch for this brother, where did that come from? I don't know
00:00:40.000 What I do know is from the videos that I saw
00:00:42.000 Of him, be it videos that he's done before
00:00:44.000 Before his cancer
00:00:46.000 After, that you can see
00:00:48.000 The guy has truly internalised
00:00:50.000 Islam, and this
00:00:52.000 Reminds me of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
00:00:54.000 Why? Because before he received
00:00:56.000 The Wahi, he had a reputation 1.00
00:00:58.000 Amongst the Quraysh 1.00
00:01:00.000 What was his reputation?
00:01:02.000 Trustworthy, truthful
00:01:04.000 Loyal
00:01:06.000 Somebody of excellent character
00:01:08.000 I mean, good manners, soft in speech
00:01:10.000 Not backbiting others
00:01:12.000 Not talking about others
00:01:14.000 This was something he embodied
00:01:16.000 This is before
00:01:18.000 He received the Wahi
00:01:20.000 Imagine, how much more beautiful in character
00:01:22.000 Did the Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
00:01:24.000 Increasing when the Wahi was given to him
00:01:26.000 And brothers and sisters, Wallahi, sometimes
00:01:28.000 We look at people who are non-Muslim and we'll be like 1.00
00:01:30.000 Wow, if this person came to Islam, it would be amazing 0.96
00:01:32.000 I saw this in Ishmael
00:01:34.000 Even though I didn't know him, I saw his excellent character
00:01:36.000 The question I want to ask is
00:01:38.000 How many of us could come and say, you know what
00:01:40.000 I am known as not being a backbiter
00:01:42.000 Or I am known as not being someone that's oppressed others
00:01:45.000 Wallahi, I believe
00:01:46.000 I don't think anyone can come and say
00:01:48.000 Ishmael wronged me 1.00
00:01:49.000 Or Ishmael came and, you know, really trying to arrest me
00:01:52.000 Never
00:01:53.000 I truly believe this
00:01:54.000 Looking at his character
00:01:55.000 The way he carries himself in conduct
00:01:57.000 We judge
00:01:58.000 Like Umar Abu Khattab said
00:01:59.000 Before we used to judge by Wahi
00:02:01.000 What used to come down
00:02:02.000 Now we judge from what's apparent
00:02:03.000 We look, how can we think
00:02:05.000 That a brother like Ishmael
00:02:07.000 Would be someone that is wronging others
00:02:08.000 No
00:02:09.000 That's one thing that I saw in his adab
00:02:11.000 And that is the reason why when you look at the salaf 1.00
00:02:13.000 That they will spend tremendous amount
00:02:15.000 In akhlaq and adab
00:02:16.000 Before they studied knowledge
00:02:18.000 Yeah?
00:02:19.000 They will truly internalize what good adab is
00:02:21.000 That's why the prophet peace be upon him said
00:02:22.000 Two of the things that are going to be heavy on their judgment
00:02:24.000 Is Tawheed
00:02:26.000 La ilaha illallah
00:02:27.000 And one's good akhlaq 0.99
00:02:28.000 And he said
00:02:29.000 I came for nothing but to perfect good character
00:02:31.000 Good character
00:02:32.000 I saw that brother Ishmael
00:02:33.000 And that's one lesson that I take from his life
00:02:35.000 Number two
00:02:36.000 I want you guys to watch this video inshallah
00:02:38.000 In this video
00:02:39.000 He's done a podcast with brother Facebook
00:02:41.000 Look what he says
00:02:42.000 If somebody's faced with a life threatening disease right
00:02:45.000 Your priorities change
00:02:47.000 Sure
00:02:48.000 In a heartbeat
00:02:49.000 I mean I've always tried to be somebody striving for paradise
00:02:51.000 But I'm on overdrive right now
00:02:53.000 And often times people don't understand that
00:02:55.000 I'm trying to get to paradise
00:02:57.000 I don't know the next time I'm going to get the call to say
00:02:59.000 It's spread
00:03:00.000 It's in your lymph nodes now
00:03:01.000 It's spread to your lungs
00:03:03.000 It's spread to your kidneys
00:03:04.000 It's spread to this part
00:03:05.000 That's the cloud that I've got over my head
00:03:07.000 So I could choose to be like
00:03:09.000 Oh gosh
00:03:10.000 Or I can say
00:03:11.000 You know what
00:03:12.000 If Allah wills for it to happen
00:03:13.000 It's going to happen
00:03:14.000 I can't control that
00:03:15.000 Let me just focus on those aspects of my life
00:03:17.000 That I can control
00:03:18.000 If I'm going to pass away Faisal 1.00
00:03:20.000 It's going to happen
00:03:21.000 Just like it's going to happen to you
00:03:22.000 Just like it's going to happen to every single one of them
00:03:24.000 So that's not nothing that I need to be over concerned about
00:03:27.000 What I need to be overly concerned about
00:03:29.000 Is how I pass away
00:03:31.000 In what state I pass away
00:03:32.000 And what legacy did I leave on this earth
00:03:34.000 Why Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala gave me the ability to be here 0.99
00:03:37.000 Now, from that video
00:03:38.000 Do you know what I take guys?
00:03:39.000 If you look at Prophet Ishmael
00:03:40.000 Like a lot of people
00:03:41.000 Usually death is
00:03:42.000 And if Allah blesses you
00:03:44.000 And I'm going to say blesses you
00:03:45.000 Blesses you with an illness
00:03:47.000 That you know
00:03:48.000 Okay, you haven't got much time left
00:03:49.000 And you know what's really funny?
00:03:51.000 That we might look to ourselves
00:03:53.000 And if you think about it
00:03:54.000 Somebody like brother Ishmael
00:03:56.000 Who's been told that he has cancer
00:03:57.000 He is in more certainty
00:04:00.000 We sometimes look at him and think
00:04:02.000 Okay, people like that are more certain that are going to die
00:04:04.000 And whereas we think like our death is uncertain
00:04:06.000 Wallahi, we are more in uncertainty
00:04:10.000 We should be more in uncertainty than brother Ishmael
00:04:12.000 Why?
00:04:13.000 Because brother you can die in a second of anything
00:04:16.000 At least brother Ishmael
00:04:17.000 Has been told that he has a disease
00:04:20.000 Yes?
00:04:21.000 That might kill him 0.63
00:04:22.000 Which he already knows he was going to die 0.73
00:04:23.000 Like generally
00:04:24.000 Even if he didn't have the disease
00:04:25.000 He already acknowledged that
00:04:26.000 Every soul is going to taste death
00:04:27.000 But for him
00:04:28.000 Now he knows it can happen
00:04:29.000 Yeah?
00:04:30.000 But we as individuals who might be healthy now
00:04:32.000 You do not know
00:04:33.000 You should be more uncertain
00:04:35.000 When can I die?
00:04:36.000 You should be more prepared for that day
00:04:37.000 Now what's amazing about Ishmael
00:04:39.000 The second point which I learned from his life
00:04:40.000 Is that
00:04:41.000 He is basically
00:04:42.000 When he first
00:04:43.000 He didn't need death
00:04:45.000 As a reminder to turn back to Allah 0.99
00:04:47.000 Because brother Ishmael was working in the path of Allah
00:04:49.000 And seeking knowledge
00:04:50.000 Way before this
00:04:51.000 Way before this
00:04:52.000 To show sincerity
00:04:53.000 And I'm not saying
00:04:54.000 Those who get afflicted with illness
00:04:55.000 And turn to Allah
00:04:56.000 Are less
00:04:57.000 I'm not saying that
00:04:58.000 But I'm saying that he turned to his Lord
00:04:59.000 Knowing that death can come anytime
00:05:01.000 Way before cancer came to him
00:05:02.000 Way before cancer came to him
00:05:04.000 That's why his attitude when cancer came to him
00:05:06.000 Was profound
00:05:08.000 He acknowledged
00:05:09.000 He said look
00:05:10.000 What is meant to be?
00:05:11.000 Yes
00:05:12.000 Any of us can die 0.52
00:05:13.000 We are going to die
00:05:14.000 But he said the priority is what?
00:05:16.000 In what state I die
00:05:17.000 How many people who are diagnosed with an illness
00:05:20.000 Life-lessing illness
00:05:21.000 They go into this realm of
00:05:22.000 Why me?
00:05:23.000 Why is this happening?
00:05:24.000 But I wish this
00:05:25.000 I wish I could live
00:05:26.000 Which takes me on to the next video
00:05:27.000 In the next video
00:05:28.000 Look what brother Ishmael says
00:05:30.000 Ultimately right now
00:05:31.000 All I want is Allah to be happy with me
00:05:34.000 That's my
00:05:35.000 Like
00:05:36.000 If I had like
00:05:37.000 A million things going through my mind
00:05:39.000 That will be at the top of the list
00:05:41.000 I just want Allah to be happy with me
00:05:45.000 I want Allah to be happy with me
00:05:49.000 And I want forgiveness
00:05:50.000 That's it
00:05:51.000 Two things
00:05:52.000 Happiness and forgiveness
00:05:55.000 This is like my advice to you guys
00:05:59.000 Allahu A'lam 0.70
00:06:00.000 Some of you people that
00:06:01.000 You might be in my situation
00:06:02.000 And I just don't know
00:06:04.000 Some of you might be fit and healthy
00:06:07.000 Some of you might be practicing
00:06:08.000 Some of you might not be practicing
00:06:10.000 As much as you probably
00:06:11.000 Wish you would
00:06:14.000 Whether you're older than me
00:06:15.000 Or whether you're younger than me
00:06:18.000 Take this advice from your brother
00:06:19.000 Whether I'm your little brother
00:06:20.000 Or whether I'm your older brother
00:06:23.000 Take this advice
00:06:24.000 From your brother
00:06:26.000 Right now
00:06:27.000 How I feel
00:06:28.000 I want Allah to be pleased with me
00:06:30.000 And I want Allah to forgive me
00:06:33.000 Wallahi
00:06:34.000 Look at his priorities
00:06:36.000 He goes there's only two things that I want
00:06:38.000 Allah to be happy with me
00:06:39.000 And to forgive me
00:06:41.000 How could someone like brother Ishmael
00:06:44.000 How could Allah
00:06:45.000 Not have mercy
00:06:46.000 And forgiveness for someone like brother Ishmael
00:06:48.000 May Allah give him the best
00:06:49.000 Wallahi
00:06:50.000 Wallahi
00:06:51.000 I have no doubt
00:06:52.000 He's probably looking at our state
00:06:54.000 And thinking cry for yourself
00:06:56.000 Wallahi
00:06:57.000 We think when someone passes away
00:06:59.000 Yani
00:07:00.000 Oh sad poor you
00:07:02.000 Wallahi
00:07:03.000 Somebody that truly embodies
00:07:05.000 And truly understands
00:07:07.000 The reality of this dunya 0.99
00:07:08.000 And the akhira 0.78
00:07:10.000 Wallahi
00:07:11.000 They will truly understand
00:07:12.000 That death
00:07:13.000 And being tested
00:07:14.000 And all this kind of stuff
00:07:15.000 Is nothing but glad tidings
00:07:16.000 And in this post
00:07:18.000 To Muslim Bilal
00:07:19.000 Where he's saying
00:07:20.000 Ya Aki
00:07:21.000 Are you not jealous of me?
00:07:22.000 Who?
00:07:23.000 Tell me somebody
00:07:24.000 Who hasn't embodied
00:07:25.000 The level of a mu'min 1.00
00:07:27.000 Inshallah
00:07:28.000 How could anyone else say the statement?
00:07:30.000 How could somebody
00:07:31.000 Who's on his deathbed
00:07:32.000 Has got cancer
00:07:33.000 Who is slowly
00:07:34.000 Gradually deteriorating
00:07:36.000 Come and say to a healthy person
00:07:38.000 Ya Aki
00:07:39.000 Are you not jealous of me?
00:07:41.000 That I might see Allah's promise before you
00:07:44.000 Wallahi
00:07:45.000 That if that is not a true believer
00:07:47.000 I don't know what a believer is
00:07:48.000 That someone on his deathbed
00:07:49.000 Can come and say
00:07:50.000 Are you not jealous of me?
00:07:51.000 And this is the reality
00:07:52.000 You know why?
00:07:53.000 Because when we look at a person
00:07:55.000 Who is dying
00:07:56.000 What do we use?
00:07:57.000 Our aql
00:07:58.000 Again
00:07:59.000 I mention this again
00:08:00.000 Because this is the main problem
00:08:01.000 That we face
00:08:02.000 Which is what?
00:08:03.000 We look and be like
00:08:05.000 I would never want to be in this situation
00:08:07.000 But when we follow the naql 0.95
00:08:08.000 What Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has promised 0.99
00:08:11.000 And Allah says for the believing person
00:08:13.000 Yes?
00:08:14.000 Who even if
00:08:15.000 The Prophet peace be upon him said
00:08:16.000 A prick
00:08:17.000 Being touched
00:08:18.000 Hit by a prick
00:08:19.000 Yeah?
00:08:20.000 Being pricked by a thorn
00:08:21.000 Yeah?
00:08:22.000 It expires your sins
00:08:24.000 Only a true believer understands
00:08:25.000 And that's why the Prophet peace be upon him said
00:08:27.000 Strange is the affair of the believer 1.00
00:08:30.000 For when a calamity touches him
00:08:31.000 He is patient
00:08:33.000 And when good touches him
00:08:34.000 He is grateful to his Lord
00:08:36.000 For a man to come and say 0.93
00:08:37.000 Are you not jealous of me?
00:08:38.000 Wallahi
00:08:39.000 Wallahi
00:08:40.000 It shows me
00:08:41.000 That he is truly embodied
00:08:42.000 And understood the hereafter
00:08:43.000 Because what Allah in his message has promised
00:08:45.000 Is true 1.00
00:08:46.000 And he genuinely believes that in his heart
00:08:48.000 That's what Allah says
00:08:49.000 Do not think for the martyrs
00:08:51.000 That they are dead
00:08:53.000 They are not dead
00:08:54.000 They are not dead
00:08:55.000 Rather they are alive with their Lord
00:08:57.000 May Allah make us amongst
00:08:59.000 People
00:09:00.000 Like brother Ishmael
00:09:01.000 Who not only served Allah's religion
00:09:03.000 Who not only had
00:09:04.000 Good adab akhlaq 0.99
00:09:06.000 Who is not only known in his community
00:09:08.000 To be helping people
00:09:09.000 Rather than being known
00:09:10.000 As somebody who oppressed
00:09:11.000 And backbited
00:09:12.000 And slandered people
00:09:13.000 Wallahi
00:09:14.000 I look up to him
