I used to struggle reading the Qur'an daily before you instructed me to download this app.
00:00:05.200
I never knew that this app would have such an impact on people's lives.
00:00:08.520
You can go into the description box, click the link for iOS and Android and build your habit with the Qur'an right now.
00:00:28.760
So you come from a very, very similar background to myself.
00:00:41.220
He's very close-minded when it comes to religious topics such as Islam.
00:00:46.780
Some kind of hostility towards Islam or all religions?
00:00:49.900
Yeah, I'll say hostility because of what he believes has been done to his people.
00:01:01.400
That's why he doesn't necessarily like Islam as a whole.
00:01:09.980
So my first question was, how do you objectively verify the Quran or any religious text in general?
00:01:23.060
So how would I objectively verify that to believe?
00:01:27.680
So objective truths are things that are outside the subjective...
00:01:45.440
So objective truth is outside the subjective experience of individuals.
00:01:50.860
So the thing is here is that we are looking for objective truth.
00:01:56.000
A young man who was living a lifestyle that many young people live today.
00:02:01.400
But when the truth comes to you, you have two options.
00:02:04.940
You either lie to yourself and carry on living a big lie.
00:02:08.460
But see, the thing with lying, I don't believe you can deny truth.
00:02:18.060
So once you believe in truth, you cannot deny it.
00:02:23.920
So I said, once you believe in truth, I believe you cannot deny it.
00:02:26.800
So a lot of people say, like when they see truth, they can deny it.
00:02:31.720
So can you right now for 10 seconds deny your mother never existed?
00:02:37.760
So you can never deny the belief that your mother never existed.
00:02:42.520
So if I genuinely believe this was the truth, first of all, I cannot deny it.
00:02:47.060
So when people say, yeah, when people say like they can deny truth,
00:02:51.680
the thing is they haven't even seen it as the truth yet to deny it.
00:03:03.880
So when Allah talks about a kafir, when Allah talks about a disbeliever,
00:03:10.700
The word actually means something that is covered.
00:03:14.020
You know when a farmer covers the seed for it to grow?
00:03:17.420
Now, the reason why they will enter hellfire is because they know the truth.
00:03:45.820
It's like somebody saying, I deny that I exist.
00:04:25.880
I keep saying to you, I'm denying the fact that all that exists.
00:04:34.220
Because not delusion, they are willingly denying it.
00:04:39.960
So for example, at the time of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, the Prophet stood behind a specific mountain.
00:04:53.120
He said, if I was to tell you guys, behind this mountain is an army coming to kill us, would you believe me?
00:05:01.520
They all said, of course we believe you, because we know you to be the truthful.
00:05:12.220
His own enemies would give their valuables for him to look after because they trusted him.
00:05:18.220
He said, how is it that you trust me when I say to you, there is an army behind me coming to kill us?
00:05:24.480
But when I tell you I'm the messenger of God, you say, no, we deny that.
00:05:29.160
So the point here is that the issue is with the people that's denying.
00:05:34.220
Because the one that's making the claim is showing an example, an analogy, where he's saying that if there was an army behind this mountain, yes, we believe you, we'll prepare.
00:05:42.420
But the moment I say on the messenger of God, you say, no, I don't want to hear that.
00:05:44.660
So that is the reason why they fall into disbelief.
00:05:48.920
So why you said that is very important is because it shows your sincerity.
00:05:57.300
I said to myself, if I can say that, if I know that this is the truth, I have to follow it.
00:06:08.580
The Quran within itself, it gives you criterias to see if it's true or not.
00:06:16.760
Now, the first one is that Allah says in the Quran that indeed we have sent this book and it is upon us to preserve it.
00:06:24.680
So he's talking to the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, because the Prophet, when he was receiving revelation, he was trying to utter it fast and try to memorize it.
00:06:37.320
Now, this is a kind of a prophecy, if you think about it, because what's happening here is that Allah is telling this Prophet that he will preserve this book.
00:06:46.920
Now, what's very interesting is that at the time of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, many people memorized the Quran, they knew by heart, they knew big portions of it.
00:06:55.200
They had it written down on bones and leather, but nobody actually compiled it.
00:07:01.320
This happened after the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, when he passed away, because there was the Battle of Yamaha, and in the Battle of Yamaha,
00:07:07.260
a lot of companions who knew the Quran by heart died.
00:07:10.300
So the thing is that God Almighty preserved it.
00:07:16.320
If this was from other than your Lord, Allah says you would have found many contradictions and errors in it.
00:07:21.960
So Allah is now given an open challenge, an objective challenge, saying, put emotions to a side, put your subjective things to a side.
00:07:30.760
There is no contradiction and there is no errors in this book.
00:07:36.700
Now, that was the first thing that shook me a bit.
00:07:41.900
I said, if I find one error, one contradiction, it's done.
00:07:54.560
So now, to me, it's like, whoa, hold on a second.
00:08:12.620
So the thing is, but the Quran claims it's from God, which is the difference.
00:08:16.860
So that's why I started my journey to be like, okay.
00:08:19.760
Now, there are things in here which no man can know.
00:08:42.620
So, this is a prophecy in the Quran, Chapter 30, yeah?
00:08:55.260
So, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says in the Quran,
00:09:09.660
And they, after their defeat, will be victorious.
00:09:14.360
The decision of the matter before and after the event is only with Allah.
00:09:18.260
Before the defeat of the Romans by the Persians and the defeat of the Persians by the Romans.
00:09:22.720
And on that day, the believers will rejoice at the victory given.
00:09:31.840
A promise of Allah will give victory to the Romans against the Persians.
00:09:37.660
And Allah fails not in His promise, but most men do not know.
00:09:48.200
Now, the Persian Empire and the Roman Empire, they were big empires.
00:09:52.420
The Persians, there was a war going between them.
00:09:56.700
But there was a moment of time where the Persians heavily defeated the Romans.
00:10:03.360
So much so that them coming back, let alone that, their survival, their existence is impossible for them to even be existing.
00:10:18.780
Now, when the Persians took over certain lands, they even got Heraclis.
00:10:23.620
And some historians say that they chained him up and humiliated him.
00:10:27.300
I mean, imagine taking over America and then catching Biden and handcuffing him and humiliating him.
00:10:34.720
And then imagine somebody comes and says, Americans have lost the war.
00:10:41.220
Americans in about three to nine years, they're going to come and destroy Russia.
00:10:46.800
And why on earth would you get all those odds against you when you know the situation?
00:10:52.840
That's why there's a historian called Edward Gibbon.
00:10:58.780
Why would the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, jeopardize if he was a false prophet, I would have been lab.
00:11:05.120
Why would he put all of that at risk by saying, okay, the Romans have been defeated, but the Romans are going to be victorious.
00:11:18.080
The Persians have won and the Persians will still stay victorious.
00:11:22.980
Now, the funny thing, which is very interesting, is that Allah also said that the believers will rejoice.
00:11:30.840
History shows that the Romans defeated the Persians.
00:11:35.260
They came back after a certain amount of time, within that time period, and they beat the Persians.
00:11:49.220
Why would he make that claim, number one, jeopardizing his prophethood?
00:12:01.220
So if he's a, I would have been a false prophet, why would he jeopardize it, number one?
00:12:09.500
So you said, why would he make that claim in the first place?
00:12:13.300
So the thing is, how do we know he was the one that made that claim?
00:12:20.640
But yeah, because you believe the Quran is compiled from Prophet Muhammad.
00:12:28.880
So how would you prove to me that he did say that?
00:12:33.060
So we have something called the science of hadith.
00:12:41.660
That it wasn't written, let's say, a hundred years after him.
00:12:46.480
So now we have something called the science of hadith.
00:12:50.880
The Quran, when it was sent, yeah, it will have to be a mass conspiracy for it to be what
00:12:58.220
Because number one, we have Quran's holy oaths from the time that they back, common date
00:13:04.100
back to the time of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
00:13:09.980
Meaning, for example, do you believe in testimony?
00:13:14.540
You said you believe there's Quran's like carbon date back to Prophet Muhammad, right?
00:13:21.900
Number one, verbally, oral tradition, and written.
00:13:24.740
Yeah, but you said the verbal transmission is the most, it's the purest form, right?
00:13:28.600
So, what if the written transmission is corrupt at the time?
00:13:38.280
When I read the Quran, my teachers will look at the text.
00:13:41.520
When somebody's reading, to verify is what he's pronouncing the same as what I'm reading.
00:13:46.340
But the oral transmission is the actual form of the Quran.
00:13:56.380
Like, for example, how do you know China exists?
00:14:05.320
So, now, the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, when he would recite the Quran and say,
00:14:11.880
When he utters this, he has his companions around him.
00:14:26.520
we heard the Messenger of God pronounce this just like this.
00:14:34.480
Now, that testimony, we have chains of transmission.
00:14:36.760
My Quran teacher has a chain of transmission from his teacher to his teacher going back
00:14:46.220
That's why with signs of hadith, we have a criteria.
00:14:48.580
Number one, the person in the chain has to be reliable.
00:14:53.500
Number three, the person in the chain has to have good memory.
00:15:19.820
these are the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
00:15:46.420
Those 60 people convey it to another 100 people.
00:15:51.780
The 100 people convey it to another 1,000 people.
00:15:59.420
Because there will be one person who will come and say,
00:16:16.580
go to those who write the scriptures with their own hands
