00:00:00.000 nation. That's not fair. You want to criticize Islam and the Prophet Muhammad
00:00:04.160 for Islamic law and warfare and governance? Fine. But what's your brilliant alternative? 1.00
00:00:09.820 Look, it's easy for Christians to criticize Muhammad for violence and intolerance because
00:00:14.700 the reality of setting up laws and establishing governance is never a peaceful process. No matter
00:00:18.900 how good and pure a person you are, there's always evil people that are going to oppose and fight you.
00:00:23.860 So what are you going to do? Are you going to give up establishing just laws on earth and allow
00:00:28.000 evil satanic forces to rule? Or are you going to fight back, which means resorting to violence?
00:00:32.960 Because those are the only two options. What's so bizarre from Christians is that they criticize 1.00
00:00:37.500 the Prophet Muhammad for this. They criticize him for violence, but that violence is inevitable 1.00
00:00:41.860 for anyone who wants to establish a just society in the vision of God Almighty.
00:00:45.800 long. And the guy thinks he's deep. His first impression of his revelations was that they
00:01:01.180 were demonic. He has to be talked out of that by his wife and her cousin. He tried repeatedly
00:01:05.840 to commit suicide. Whenever something was going wrong, he would try to kill. He would try to hurl 0.79
00:01:10.780 himself off a mountain to delivering revelations, promoting polytheism. I mean, where do you see
00:01:17.000 that in the prophet? Someone delivers a revelation, promotes polytheism, comes back later and says,
00:01:20.480 the devil made me do it. Towards them. In Matthew 5, Jesus says, you have heard that it was said,
00:01:28.820 you shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those
00:01:34.600 who persecute you so that you may be sons of your father who is in heaven. We can see how this command
00:01:40.720 to love even our enemies, combined with the biblical teaching that all human beings are created in the
00:01:46.320 image of God, influenced early Christian thought. In Romans 12, the apostle Paul says, if possible,
00:01:52.940 so far as it depends on you, be at peace with everyone. If your enemy is hungry, feed him. And if he is
00:01:59.500 thirsty, give him a drink. In 1 Corinthians 16, he says, let all that you do be done in love. In 1 Thessalonians
00:02:08.800 3, he says, may the Lord cause you to increase and abound in love for one another and for all people. The author
00:02:16.360 of Hebrews in Hebrews 12 says, pursue peace with all people. In 1 Peter 2, the apostle Peter tells us to honor
00:02:24.160 all people. So whether you are Christian, Muslim, Jew, Hindu, Buddhist, atheist, agnostic, young,
00:02:33.960 old, white, black, straight, gay, trans, whatever, you are created in the image of God. And Christians
00:02:40.600 are commanded to love and respect you based on our shared nature and the love of God.
00:02:46.800 That yes, Islam has violence and Islam is not tolerant of every belief and way of life. And 1.00
00:02:54.280 that's a good thing, as I'll explain. Instead, this is what we read in the Bible about Moses.
00:02:58.580 In Numbers 31, verse 14 to 18 of the Bible, we read, and Moses was angry with the officers of the
00:03:04.420 army. Moses said to them, have you let all the women live? Now kill every male among the little ones 1.00
00:03:10.180 and kill every woman who has known man by lying with him. But all the young girls who have not known 1.00
00:03:16.040 man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves. Kill all the women and children, but keep the 1.00
00:03:21.860 virgin girls for yourselves as sex slaves. That's what the Bible claims Moses said. So I want to ask 1.00
00:03:27.640 David Wood, do you think that Moses was an evil, bloodthirsty man? Are you going to denounce Moses in
00:03:33.660 this debate? Because I don't want to see how, because I don't see how you can denounce the prophet
00:03:39.320 Muhammad when you have the example of Moses getting angry because his soldiers are not killing enough 0.95
00:03:44.720 women and children. There's nothing like that in the Quran or Hadith or in the Islamic tradition more
00:03:49.760 broadly. The fact of the matter is when we look at the content of Mosaic law in the Old Testament, it
00:03:55.460 contains stoning, it contains expansionist war, it contains destroying the idols of pagan religions, it 0.91
00:04:01.120 contains slavery, it contains all the things that Christians criticize Islam for, and it even goes beyond 0.96
00:04:07.180 Islam in advocating killing women and children. So if Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran are evil because of these 1.00
00:04:13.800 practices, then Mosaic law, Moses, and the Old Testament are at least as evil. Standard. But the
00:04:20.840 problem gets even worse for Christians. This is because obviously Moses didn't just make up the
00:04:26.900 law, he was only conveying the commandments of God Almighty. You could just say, well don't you
00:04:32.320 Christians believe that God revealed those things in the past? Yes, yes we do. So if stoning,
00:04:38.920 expansionist war and slavery are evil, then the God of the Old Testament was evil. War and slavery are
00:04:45.120 evil, then the God of the Old Testament was evil. Killing women, children, and infants. There's nothing
00:04:51.960 like that in the Quran and Hadith. So isn't this the most outrageous double standard? David Wood, please
00:04:57.980 explain this. Explain how you can criticize Islam and smear the Prophet Muhammad ï·º as a violent,
00:05:04.440 bloodthirsty, warmonger, when according to your own theology, your God, Jesus Christ, also commanded
00:05:10.360 and approved of all these things and more. So David Wood, you're extremely dishonest when you 0.91
00:05:15.660 criticize Islam and in fact Christians should really hate you for what you're doing because 0.95
00:05:19.120 you're essentially training your fellow Christians to reject the Bible and hate Moses and Jesus. 0.87
00:05:23.060 Because when you tell a personal Messiah for individual salvation, on this point, Jesus is not
00:05:30.880 concerned with criticizing the Roman pagan regime. You could just say, well don't you Christians 1.00
00:05:37.180 believe that God revealed those things in the past? Yes, yes we do and so did your prophet. In fact,
00:05:45.040 according to your prophet Daniel, Allah revealed the Torah that you're criticizing and calling, 0.89
00:05:52.100 saying that it calls for genocide. So you and your followers are attacking your own God and your
00:05:58.720 own prophet here. Interesting debate tactic. Mocking your own God and prophet is sure to catch us off
00:06:04.200 guard.
00:06:12.940 ...kinds of acts of violence and intolerance. I'm not saying that everything that's in the Old Testament
00:06:18.360 is exactly true because as Muslims we believe in Tahrif basically that the older revelations have been
00:06:26.900 modified and distorted and corrupted. And by the way, this is the view that is corroborated by Western
00:06:32.780 scholarship. But I'm not going to affirm or deny these things that are attributed to Moses. I'm just
00:06:40.040 saying you explain them. You explain how you cannot, you consider Muhammad ï·º as an evil warmonger,
00:06:46.800 bloodthirsty, bloodthirsty. But Moses, you don't seem to have the same position.
00:06:56.340 ...aware of these miracles too. So they knew who they were rebelling against if they went after Israel.
00:07:02.480 By contrast, the Quran repeatedly denies that Muhammad's revelations were accompanied by any
00:07:09.200 miracle other than the Quran itself. 0.98
00:07:11.280 Well, let me just respond to the miracles point.
00:07:15.660 There are entire books written about the miracles of the Prophet Muhammad ï·º.
00:07:20.340 It's a whole genre.
00:07:21.980 ...
00:07:22.820 ...
00:07:23.820 ...
00:07:24.820 ...
00:07:25.820 ...
00:07:26.820 ...
00:07:27.820 ...
00:07:28.820 ...
00:07:30.820 ...
00:07:48.360 ...
00:07:49.360 There it is.
00:07:51.960 More stocks.
00:07:52.900 And you'd say this.
00:07:54.900 ...
00:07:55.240 !"
00:07:57.840 feel free of documentary,
00:07:57.900 but the livrobe and the Amalek witness, where's their proof that those aren't fabrications?
00:08:02.380 So I think this is kind of a weak argument.
00:08:02.900 The Exodus was accompanied by constant, miraculous intervention.
00:08:04.300 God is raining food from heaven.
00:08:06.820 He is reigning food from heaven.
00:08:09.180 He is parting the Red Sea.
00:08:10.760 He is parting the Red Sea, and he's literally going around as a pillar of cloud by day and
00:08:19.180 a pillar of fire by night.
00:08:21.740 So here again, if there were a pillar of fire or a pillar of cloud giving us orders right
00:08:28.760 now, and you say, I don't have to listen to you, or if you're not one of the people
00:08:34.260 who were actually following him, you're someone else and you're saying, I don't care what
00:08:38.520 that pillar of fire says.
00:08:39.880 I don't care about these people who are just led through the sea.
00:08:43.160 I say God has the right to give life or to take life.
00:08:46.460 You need to address the points that I'm making.
00:08:49.220 It seems like the argument that you're making is that Moses had miracles, and therefore it
00:08:54.460 was okay to wipe out the Canaanites and the Amalekites and the other tribes. 1.00
00:08:59.240 But how does that argument make sense? 0.97
00:09:01.200 Because the order in the Old Testament is to kill babies as well and children. 0.56
00:09:06.280 Do the babies understand miracles? 0.85
00:09:08.200 Do the children, like, are they responsible for recognizing the truth of Moses's message?
00:09:13.960 Again, I'm not claiming that this is actually what Moses did.
00:09:17.460 This is what is attributed to him in the Old Testament.
00:09:20.340 So I want you as a Christian who accepts the Old Testament and thinks that Moses was given 0.99
00:09:25.780 commands by God, who, by the way, is Jesus Christ, part of the Triune God, explain how you would
00:09:33.320 not be forced to denounce Moses's policies and Jesus's policies if you're using those kinds
00:09:39.300 of criticisms against Muhammad, say la Salaam.
00:09:50.660 Again,
