In this episode, we visit a flower shop to get some flowers in memory of the victims of the blast in Christchurch, Sri Lanka. We also write a nice message to them and send them a message on behalf of the Muslim community.
00:04:01.820No, it's okay. So, we just wanted to say, you know, to show our support and that these people are not going to divide us.
00:04:08.180I know they're trying to do that and it happened in Christchurch.
00:04:11.780And sadly, these crazy people have done it as supposedly a revenge attack on their behalf because the Muslim community doesn't represent them and they don't represent us.
00:04:21.720So, we just wanted to say, you know, just to take a time out. We came inside, we had a look, we was in there.
00:04:35.780Well, this is actually an act of kindness that we are, because of the attacks in Sri Lanka against the churches.
00:04:46.400So, we are YouTubers online and what we do is, we happen to be Muslims, but we felt like, we felt compelled, in fact, to come to an community that is attached to the church to give our condolences.
00:05:11.060So, we are in a Catholic church. This is, was built in the 1900s. These are all the church girls, as you can see. That's Anadha with the flowers.
00:05:21.240Yeah. So, we're here. We've got three more churches, not masjids, to go to.
00:05:28.980So, the reason we're doing this, obviously, you know, there was a Christchurch attack, and we, the Christian, the Jewish community as a whole, you know, there's short support to the Muslims.
00:05:45.840And we want to do the same, because we know in Sri Lanka, attacks happen towards the churches in Nista. So, we found the need, because we come from an organization called Salaam, Sharing, Affection, Love and Mercy.
00:05:55.280We just wanted to give these flowers, obviously, to you guys, but we'll leave it there. But after, you can hopefully smell them and put them somewhere there.
00:06:02.360But we just wanted to thank you and just say that, you know, we're really sorry for what's happened, and hopefully this will not divide us, you know, and bring this course together.
00:06:09.420Because these people's aims and objectives, they just want us to hate each other, and that's not going to happen. And we just want to say thank you for your time, and hopefully, if you can just, well, just go and put it, yeah, probably on the hope, you know, it says hope.
00:06:22.420I'll probably put it on there, because it'll have more meaning there.
00:06:24.320We need to dialogue with Christians, Jews, Sikhs, Hindus, whatever, whoever it may be. Yes, we have our differences, but also, that we have things that are in common as well.
00:06:34.920And also, if I may add to this, if there's a video, whether the person is real or not, claiming to be from ISIS, using Nasheed and Quran in the background, and then putting his finger in the air and saying,
00:06:48.460and then after saying, we're going to kill all of you, what is out there to counter that? Because it's almost become like, oh, but the Christians should know.
00:06:58.560Majority of Christians know, but you know what, sometimes the action speaks louder than words, and it really touches people.
00:07:04.700When we go out of our way to do these things, it's symbolic, I get it, but nevertheless, it has to happen.
00:07:11.100Shall I tell you why? I'll give you a very fine example. When the Prophet, peace be upon him, when he passed away, Umar ibn Qattab, what did he say? He was very angry.
00:07:19.280And listen carefully. Abu Bakr radiallahu anhu said, anyone that worshiped Muhammad, know that he is dead.
00:07:24.900And those who have passed away, and know that whoever is worshipping Allah, he is the ever-living.
00:07:30.820And he quoted a verse from the Quran, yeah, that messengers before that passed away, are you going to turn back on your heels?
00:07:36.020Do you know what's more profound about this? When the Sahaba heard this, Abdul ibn Abbas, if I'm not mistaken, said that all of them acted like they never heard this verse, ever.
00:07:46.080Because reminder benefits a believer. So like you said, oh, the Christians, they might think, no, reminder benefits a believer.
00:07:51.460Yeah, you have to remind them, you have to remind them, sure.
00:07:54.000Yeah. So yes, we're going to leave this here. As you can see, the words hope, and hopefully we can, hopefully we can have hope in humanity and one another, and not let people divide us.
00:08:12.840The doors open, that's always a good sign. Open door is a welcoming home, they say. I just made that up.
00:08:25.400I think that's how they, wow, it's a service.
00:08:35.520So we are here to give our condolences to what happened in Sri Lanka, and it was Christians, our brothers in humanity, who got attacked.
00:08:49.360We're from the Muslim community, and we felt like compelled to increase our interaction with our Christian brothers in humanity,
00:08:57.200I think, just because of, there's a small group of people, who are causing a lot of division, and taking harmony away, so we're here on behalf of the Muslims, to say.
00:09:13.760Brothers and sisters, we have gone to five different churches, give them flowers, had discussions with them, it was amazing.
00:09:20.800I want to recite Surah Imran, verse 113, where Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says,
00:09:25.040That not all of them are alike. Among the people of the book there are those who are steadfast,
00:09:53.920they recite the verses of Allah in the right hours, and they prostrate themselves.
00:09:58.320Now, we cannot compare the Christians, what happened at Christ Church, a man who claimed he was a Christian,
00:10:08.400to people who are peaceful Christians. We cannot. And Allah is telling us,
00:10:13.360Yes, these people, they are not the same. They are some who worship Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
00:10:18.240Now, by doing this, we wanted to show people as well, also, that as Muslims, there are good and bad.
00:10:24.560We do not come and say, okay, black people are all gangsters. Yeah?
00:10:30.480Christians are all paedophiles. Muslims are all terrorists. Yeah?
00:10:34.880We do not go and generalize. We just want to show the importance of coming together and conveying the message.
00:10:41.360And we have to. Now, we are not in no way, shape or form saying that we found a solution now.
00:10:44.720We've given some flowers. Hooray! Put us on the back. Yep, well done. No, no, no, no, no.
00:10:49.280We've made a solution. No. But it is a step in the right direction.
00:10:52.800And this is what we have to do. We need to carry on giving da'ala.
00:10:55.920Because if we don't, and we're just quiet, and we're just like robots, we don't do nothing, what's going to happen is people's misconceptions are going to grow.
00:11:02.880Yeah. And also, what I wanted to say is, especially as someone who has grown around Christian culture,
00:11:13.200I understand that, you know, when you don't engage, when there's no engagement at all.
00:11:20.960Yeah. And like you were saying before, there are certain people who are going to say, oh, look at these Kumbaya type of Muslims.
00:12:03.860Yeah, but it was not as much in the media, people were like, not shared, like, it was not a topic like Notre Dame.
00:12:10.780For example, I saw like, there was a statistic that when Notre Dame happened in Sri Lanka, that the churches online were seven times higher, seven to one, to the searches about what happened in Sri Lanka.
00:12:24.200And it shows you where the relevancy is.
00:12:26.540So I think people, basically, were quite surprised that we came, and it really hit them, you know, emotionally and spiritually.
00:12:35.400And I think that's very important to do these things, even these small things, it's important, like, to do them.
00:12:44.200There has to be an anticipation that these things are continuing to happen.
00:12:49.840So people, Muslims, Muslim female, women, especially Christians, we have to be very vigilant.
00:12:57.760And being vigilant does not mean only in terms of you being protected, but vigilant being also in terms of having your ear out.
00:13:06.740Because there are small fractions of people who are causing these divisions, and you don't need millions of extremists on both sides to cause damage.
00:13:16.860So being vigilant also means to reject extremist talks from the far right, for example, who will exploit this situation and say, well, look, again, the Muslims, that's why the Christchurch guy was justified to do it.
00:13:31.480And I understand that it's a lot of angry white male or angry Westerners and have resentment for what happened in the West.
00:13:39.320But I think tit for that and eye for an eye, in this case, it's not going to solve the issue.
00:13:45.060You have to be more introspective and proactive.
00:13:48.960And I feel like this, yeah, I don't know.
00:13:52.040And I just want to wrap up, brothers and sisters.
00:13:54.480Thank you guys for watching, inshaAllah.
00:13:56.200This is from Salaam, inshaAllah, sharing affection, love and mercy.
00:13:59.040To support our organisation, there's going to be a link at the description box.
00:14:01.380Below, inshaAllah, do help us however you can, inshaAllah, share this with your friends and family, inshaAllah, and hate is not going to divide us.
00:14:09.400And you're going to see this, inshaAllah, for yourself.
