00:00:00.000 After a few months of email exchanges, one day, Martha invited me to their home in Ohio.
00:00:08.840 She said, hey, we know you like America.
00:00:12.460 Why don't you come and visit us for one month and we will take care of all your expenses.
00:00:19.400 This video isn't about me.
00:00:22.440 It's about opportunity.
00:00:24.540 This video isn't about us.
00:00:27.160 It's about opportunity.
00:00:30.000 From a juvenile, where my clothes had holes in the roof, and my afro was picky, to them 90s, Moschino and Versace, no laces in Arachis, new millennium.
00:00:45.380 Let me take this off so I can be more cool for people.
00:00:55.080 Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh, brothers and sisters and dear friends.
00:00:58.280 Welcome.
00:00:59.480 And many times you've seen on this couch, hijab sitting on this side, I'm sitting on the right side, doing separate videos.
00:01:05.540 Well, today this couch has brought us together.
00:01:07.840 Not in a literal sense.
00:01:09.320 Well, in a literal sense, but you know, I'm sure Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
00:01:11.280 Stop laughing.
00:01:15.640 Now, today I've got a very interesting video.
00:01:18.140 And it was actually recommended to me, because I think you've done a video about Brother Nas.
00:01:23.580 Yeah?
00:01:24.060 So he has a YouTube channel called Nas Daily.
00:01:25.620 He started on Facebook.
00:01:26.500 He moved on to the YouTube scene.
00:01:28.100 I came across a very interesting video, because I've kind of...
00:01:30.820 I didn't know who he was.
00:01:31.800 But he was brought to our attention in a WhatsApp group.
00:01:35.840 And there was a discussion about, is he a Muslim or not?
00:01:37.520 And I was thinking, I don't know, hijab done a video on the Dean show.
00:01:40.480 And there were some points that he brought that you clarified for him.
00:01:45.160 But I was curious, is he a Muslim or not?
00:01:46.940 So then I went on to YouTube, and I wrote Nas Daily, Muslim.
00:01:50.820 And then I came across a few of his videos, and he said people think I'm a bad Muslim.
00:01:54.600 I was going to do a reaction video to that, but then I thought, I found a very interesting video.
00:01:57.560 And this video is called Opportunities.
00:02:00.060 Yeah?
00:02:00.760 I haven't seen this.
00:02:01.860 You haven't seen it, but I've seen it.
00:02:04.120 And it's worth watching and reacting to it.
00:02:07.020 Because if Brother Nas, I'm sure he's going to be watching this.
00:02:09.360 If he can watch this with an open heart.
00:02:11.040 Genuinely, Brother, if you're watching this, please.
00:02:13.100 Do you not see this as we're criticizing you?
00:02:14.280 Do you not see this as we're pointing fingers?
00:02:15.260 We genuinely want you to just watch it with an open mind.
00:02:17.680 Because I found that very video of Opportunity inspiring.
00:02:20.860 But we want to look at it from another angle.
00:02:23.220 You ready?
00:02:23.640 Yeah.
00:02:24.120 Okay.
00:02:28.880 Almost 11 years ago, I got that help.
00:02:31.960 An American woman from Ohio named Martha was invited by my English teacher to come to our classroom and teach us English.
00:02:43.340 And when she walked through that door, she was the first American I met in my life.
00:02:57.300 Immediately, I fell in love with her and her family.
00:03:01.220 Immediately, I connected with her son and we became email buddies.
00:03:06.980 Pen pal friends.
00:03:07.860 After a few months of email exchanges, one day, Martha invited me to their home in Ohio.
00:03:16.660 She said, hey, we know you like America.
00:03:20.740 Why don't you come and visit us for one month and we will take care of all your expenses.
00:03:27.320 This was the first opportunity in my life to go and explore the United States.
00:03:36.480 I jumped on that opportunity.
00:03:39.920 Now, I want to just pick up on a few things.
00:03:42.180 He talks about opportunity.
00:03:43.280 He talks about how happy he is that a human being gave him an opportunity to go to America or even maybe apply at Harvard University.
00:03:52.780 Now, he's over the moon with us.
00:03:54.900 Now, from his videos, he seems like he's a YouTuber that travels around the world.
00:03:58.120 And he's called Nas Daily.
00:04:00.120 Now, I want to use this name that I use it for itself and say, Nas Daily, you have an opportunity every single day given to you by Allah, by God.
00:04:11.480 Now, before you say, oh, here we go again, religion, just hear us out.
00:04:14.580 Because what I wanted to touch upon is like, as human beings, when somebody does something for us, we're over the moon.
00:04:19.840 How can we pay that guy back?
00:04:21.540 You know, he did this for me and he did that for me or that sister to a sister or brother to a brother.
00:04:25.720 You know, you get overwhelmed that you want to show your utmost gratitude and be ready to on the call if they need you, etc.
00:04:33.560 You know, and he's talking about that opportunity.
00:04:37.200 Now, if you've noticed on his shirt, yeah, he has a T-shirt, right?
00:04:41.480 On his T-shirt, he's got 36%.
00:04:43.980 Do you know what that is?
00:04:46.400 So that's, he believes that's 36% of his life gone.
00:04:50.160 Yeah.
00:04:50.680 So what I wanted to highlight is, brother Nas, you travel around the world.
00:04:55.740 Yeah.
00:04:57.520 Showing gratitude to a human being is good.
00:04:59.880 Because what does Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala say?
00:05:01.360 Or is it Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam who said that?
00:05:03.000 The one who doesn't...
00:05:05.080 Men lemme yashkul, and nas lemme yashkul Allah.
00:05:06.920 Whoever doesn't thank the people doesn't thank Allah.
00:05:08.940 Yes.
00:05:09.880 That's fine.
00:05:11.040 But if somebody is thanking human beings and has the human beings greater interest, and that is good.
00:05:16.880 And that's something that Islam promotes.
00:05:18.660 But if he's neglecting his Lord, because let's think about it.
00:05:21.500 Nas daily, we do daily vlogs.
00:05:23.280 Daily Allah has given you an opportunity.
00:05:25.160 And if you think about it, everything that you are being offered is through him.
00:05:32.260 But if your gratitude is more to the human beings than Allah, do you not think that's a point of reflection?
00:05:38.560 Yeah, I mean, the first thing that Allah says in the Quran is Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alameen, which is praise and thanks belongs to Allah, Lord of the world.
00:05:49.260 And because if...
00:05:50.960 And actually, the alif al-lam here, the alif al-lam istagraqiyya, it means all praise and all thanks ultimately goes back to Allah.
00:05:59.100 Because the ultimate reason for everything's existence and for your provision with anything that you may have is the creator that created everything that does exist, that puts into existence everything that exists.
00:06:15.620 So our livelihoods, our life, I mean, like Hamza's also says, I mean, there's certain things that are happening to us on a minute basis that we don't even think about.
00:06:26.300 How many times does the heart beat and we don't even know about it, you know, and we can all be grateful for at least the heart beating because there's no human being that will be walking on the face of the earth, lest their heart had to beat.
00:06:40.980 So from that perspective, there's always something to be grateful for.
00:06:44.460 And there's something beautiful that the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said.
00:06:46.980 He said,
00:06:54.240 It says, wondrous is the affair of the believer, that all of his affair is good.
00:06:59.040 And this is not the case for anyone except for the believer.
00:07:02.200 He says,
00:07:02.700 إِنْ أَصَابَتُهُ صَرَّى شَكَرٌ
00:07:04.740 If good things happen to him, he's thankful.
00:07:08.040 وَإِنْ أَصَابَتُهُ ضَرَّى صَبَرًا وَشَكَرٌ
00:07:10.440 If bad things happen to him, he's also thankful.
00:07:13.520 He's patient and he's thankful.
00:07:15.380 So thanking is disposition or something that we do naturally.
00:07:21.140 And this is the fitrah, actually.
00:07:23.160 This is the innate predisposition that we innately want to thank our Lord,
00:07:31.000 the one who we recognize automatically, right?
00:07:34.020 Exactly.
00:07:34.640 For all of those things that we have in our life.
00:07:37.220 And so he was able to recognize it with Mafa, who is, I'm sure, a very generous person.
00:07:42.460 But who is more generous than the most generous one, which is Allah.
00:07:45.400 Exactly.
00:07:45.940 And if you think about it, the word hamd is that when someone buys you a gift,
00:07:49.720 you thank them for what they did for you.
00:07:51.200 But we thank Allah because of him deserving the thank and of who he is,
00:07:55.360 not because of the things that he's done for us.
00:07:57.380 That's besides the point.
00:07:58.420 If Allah was to do nothing for us, he's still deserving of praise of who he is.
00:08:02.360 Now, Nassim might come and say,
00:08:04.660 I'm far away from religion.
00:08:05.720 He's got a religion where it says people are picking on him, he's bad, he's drunk, etc.
00:08:09.320 I just want to make a connection with this statement here.
00:08:11.700 One day, Martha gave me another opportunity.
00:08:15.400 She said I should go and visit Harvard.
00:08:18.760 I didn't know what Harvard was.
00:08:20.880 I thought it was a place that only smart people go.
00:08:24.500 Look, we can stop that and say, look, you can say the same about the Quran.
00:08:27.920 You can say something like we're telling you, okay, read the Quran.
00:08:31.100 Give Islam a chance.
00:08:31.740 You can say, brothers, I don't know.
00:08:34.460 I might be far away from the religion.
00:08:36.400 I don't know what it is.
00:08:37.280 Maybe it's for righteous people.
00:08:38.580 Look what it said next.
00:08:40.060 Look what he goes.
00:08:40.680 He goes, that's only for smart people.
00:08:43.080 Is Jannah only, or is Islam only for the righteous people?
00:08:47.700 No.
00:08:49.260 Islam is submission to one God, right?
00:08:52.240 And so Allah says in the Quran,
00:08:55.520 You know,
00:08:55.780 Be completely submissive to Allah.
00:09:01.440 Basically, go into submission fully.
00:09:03.660 That's what it says.
00:09:04.420 Go into submission fully.
00:09:06.340 And only when you submit yourself wholeheartedly to the one who created you and is sustaining you,
00:09:11.860 will you really feel the purpose of life.
00:09:14.520 This is the point, really.
00:09:16.020 And this is open access.
00:09:17.440 Because Allah says in the Quran,
00:09:18.960 وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي فَإِنِّي قَرِيبُ
00:09:22.680 أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّعِي إِذَا دَعَمْ
00:09:24.760 And if my slave asks you about me,
00:09:28.420 then I am near.
00:09:30.020 I answer the caller of the caller when he calls.
00:09:35.740 Meaning,
00:09:36.720 and you know, it's really interesting.
00:09:37.840 Because in Arabic, usually when Allah says,
00:09:39.760 when they ask about this,
00:09:41.420 قُلْ
00:09:41.740 Say this and say that.
00:09:43.300 In this construction,
00:09:45.140 he didn't even say say.
00:09:46.480 Because he wanted to make the words closer to each other.
00:09:48.560 Because he's saying,
00:09:49.600 وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي
00:09:51.720 And if they ask,
00:09:52.620 if my slave asks me about me,
00:09:54.300 then I am near.
00:09:54.900 He doesn't say,
00:09:55.880 say I am near.
00:09:56.840 To put all the words closer together.
00:09:58.840 This shows you the,
00:09:59.540 you know,
00:10:00.580 the very precise nature of the Quran.
00:10:02.760 You know,
00:10:03.060 I answer the caller of the,
00:10:04.660 I answer the call of the caller when he calls.
00:10:06.660 So if anybody asks Allah for guidance,
00:10:11.300 whether they are Muslim or not,
00:10:13.460 whoever they are,
00:10:14.960 Allah will answer that.
00:10:16.400 Because Allah says,
00:10:17.720 إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَى
00:10:19.380 That to us is guidance.
00:10:22.540 In other words,
00:10:23.020 if anybody comes at the door of God,
00:10:26.260 Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will answer that call.
00:10:28.740 That's a promise from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
00:10:31.000 Subhanahu wa ta'ala.
00:10:31.380 And that's so true.
00:10:32.180 And that's what I just,
00:10:32.680 I just want to carry on watching.
00:10:33.560 Thank you.
00:10:34.700 So I had nothing to do with it.
00:10:36.500 I am not smart enough.
00:10:38.220 See,
00:10:38.560 same thing.
00:10:39.220 Don't ever think I'm a sinner.
00:10:40.820 I'm not good enough.
00:10:41.660 I can,
00:10:41.980 I can never.
00:10:42.940 Don't ever.
00:10:43.360 Because we come from,
00:10:44.040 I'm a revert to Islam.
00:10:44.680 I come from Jahliya.
00:10:46.040 You know,
00:10:46.240 there's other brothers who may have come.
00:10:47.440 Don't ever say to yourself,
00:10:48.760 I'm not good enough.
00:10:49.400 Just as the way you look at Harvard and said,
00:10:50.860 I'm not smart.
00:10:51.400 They won't accept me.
00:10:52.340 I don't know.
00:10:53.080 Allah and his messenger is telling you,
00:10:54.780 Allah is the most merciful.
00:10:56.200 Anytime at your stage,
00:10:57.500 turn to him,
00:10:58.180 inshallah.
00:10:58.540 But let's carry on.
00:10:59.480 She didn't listen to me.
00:11:01.140 She flew me from Ohio to Boston
00:11:04.020 to go meet her son,
00:11:06.040 Eli,
00:11:06.700 who's a student at Harvard.
00:11:08.600 Why did you send me there?
00:11:11.020 Because I thought you were really smart
00:11:12.480 and I thought it'd be interesting for you to see it.
00:11:14.480 I didn't know that you'd end up going there.
00:11:16.640 But I thought you could apply there.
00:11:18.660 I thought you're a person perfectly capable of applying now,
00:11:21.200 possibly getting it.
00:11:22.700 And when I landed on campus as a tourist,
00:11:27.160 my world changed.
00:11:29.000 People were not as smart as we think.
00:11:31.900 They were normal people like you and me.
00:11:34.580 Well,
00:11:34.880 that's,
00:11:35.660 that's profound as well.
00:11:38.600 You know,
00:11:38.720 imagine entering Janna and you see people there
00:11:41.060 and you may know some people who were like,
00:11:42.980 yo,
00:11:43.220 that guy used to sin a lot.
00:11:45.200 You might be thinking,
00:11:45.960 what's this guy doing in paradise?
00:11:47.420 But there are people who sinned but repented,
00:11:50.540 you know?
00:11:50.980 So to think that Janna is only for the righteous,
00:11:53.380 no.
00:11:53.720 There are people who will be there sinning,
00:11:55.960 yeah?
00:11:56.700 Sinners.
00:11:57.080 And we all are.
00:11:57.700 Wallahi,
00:11:58.020 the best of sinners are those who repent.
00:11:59.840 So don't ever think to yourself,
00:12:01.060 you don't belong there.
00:12:02.100 You're far from it.
00:12:03.040 I'm gone.
00:12:03.640 Don't.
00:12:03.880 This is the works of shaitan.
00:12:05.100 So watching this video of opportunity,
00:12:07.220 we want to hand the opportunity to you
00:12:09.780 that Allah has given to us on a daily basis
00:12:11.960 to convey this message to you,
00:12:13.220 inshallah.
00:12:13.400 And let's carry on,
00:12:14.720 inshallah.
00:12:15.120 That inspired me.
00:12:17.700 I flew back home immediately
00:12:19.560 and bought many books.
00:12:21.460 I improved my English.
00:12:23.840 Salmon.
00:12:24.560 Salmon.
00:12:25.580 Salmon.
00:12:26.480 Salmon.
00:12:27.180 I love it.
00:12:27.760 Wallahi,
00:12:28.180 I can make a connection between that
00:12:30.720 is many books.
00:12:32.080 Quran.
00:12:33.040 Salmon.
00:12:33.680 Salmon.
00:12:34.220 Salmon.
00:12:34.680 Wallahi.
00:12:35.180 Tajweed.
00:12:36.180 No, no, but let's be real.
00:12:37.100 I'm just genuinely wanting to make him think,
00:12:39.020 yeah?
00:12:39.260 Like you're giving the dedication to go hard with,
00:12:41.120 to get all these books.
00:12:42.420 Wallahi.
00:12:42.780 Hey, like, and I'm not saying you're not,
00:12:44.840 maybe you are,
00:12:45.700 but if you can give,
00:12:46.400 like, just to build that dedication to Islam,
00:12:48.420 give Islam a chance,
00:12:49.100 open the Quran,
00:12:50.000 read it,
00:12:50.720 you know,
00:12:50.940 and this is a reminder to me,
00:12:51.800 Wallahi,
00:12:52.000 I'm trying to learn the Arabic language,
00:12:53.240 learn how to read the Quran.
00:12:54.680 It's never too late,
00:12:55.580 and you should do that.
00:12:56.280 I don't ever feel,
00:12:57.140 because I'm making a comparison
00:12:58.100 between your dunya life
00:12:59.400 and the hereafter.
00:13:00.380 You can do it.
00:13:01.140 One book,
00:13:01.640 not many books,
00:13:02.320 yeah?
00:13:02.740 And the Tajweed of Salmon,
00:13:03.800 Salmon,
00:13:03.960 that's not a problem.
00:13:04.760 You know,
00:13:05.000 you can even,
00:13:05.760 subhanAllah,
00:13:06.280 learn in the Quran,
00:13:07.060 the Arabic,
00:13:07.660 yeah?
00:13:07.820 I learned about Harvard admission.
00:13:10.320 I studied and studied and studied.
00:13:13.120 And a few months later,
00:13:14.740 I applied.
00:13:16.540 And to my surprise,
00:13:18.080 Harvard said yes.
00:13:20.320 I graduated with a Harvard degree.
00:13:22.860 I went to New York,
00:13:24.120 got a really good job,
00:13:25.760 and made money.
00:13:27.440 And then I started Nas Daily.
00:13:30.120 I traveled the world,
00:13:31.680 created videos,
00:13:32.860 connected with millions of people,
00:13:35.040 published a book,
00:13:35.980 and started a real company.
00:13:40.960 This video isn't about me.
00:13:44.260 It's about opportunity.
00:13:46.340 This video isn't about us.
00:13:48.920 It's about opportunity,
00:13:50.120 yeah?
00:13:50.740 And,
00:13:51.380 brother Nas,
00:13:52.200 if you're watching this,
00:13:52.840 inshaAllah,
00:13:53.200 I just want to reach out to you,
00:13:55.460 and say that you can contact me
00:13:56.900 or brother Mohamed Ijab,
00:13:57.840 inshaAllah,
00:13:58.100 if you want.
00:13:58.800 It's an opportunity.
00:13:59.680 We have an opportunity every single day
00:14:01.780 to change for the better.
00:14:03.820 And,
00:14:04.460 in your video,
00:14:05.280 you touched upon being a good,
00:14:07.240 what's,
00:14:07.620 we're not good or bad.
00:14:08.980 Brother Nas,
00:14:09.320 I just want to leave you with this,
00:14:10.660 inshaAllah.
00:14:11.400 I don't know if we're going to watch any more of that.
00:14:13.700 Is that,
00:14:14.400 look,
00:14:15.160 being good,
00:14:16.120 if you're good to the entire globe,
00:14:17.860 if you're good to everybody,
00:14:19.400 and you are bad to your parents,
00:14:21.260 are you a good person?
00:14:22.560 Of course not.
00:14:23.720 So,
00:14:23.980 brother Nas,
00:14:24.400 imagine that you're good to the entire world
00:14:26.020 and you're charitable,
00:14:26.980 but you are bad to the one who's created you.
00:14:29.340 So,
00:14:29.520 I'm just saying that
00:14:30.460 if you are grateful to the people
00:14:31.940 and opportunities that they have presented you
00:14:33.480 and you are very thankful
00:14:34.380 and that is good
00:14:35.120 and that is part of Islam,
00:14:36.660 please,
00:14:37.120 for one moment,
00:14:37.740 just reflect upon what Allah has given you
00:14:40.840 because Allah is the one
00:14:42.020 who is giving you these things
00:14:43.940 through these people,
00:14:44.660 inshaAllah.
00:14:44.920 and hopefully,
00:14:46.640 you reflect inshaAllah
00:14:47.480 and that's it.
00:14:48.640 Well,
00:14:48.720 I don't think there's anything else to watch
00:14:50.420 but yeah,
00:14:52.220 that's it.
00:14:53.200 The village kid in me
00:14:55.280 needed opportunity.
00:14:57.640 I needed someone to open the door
00:14:59.740 just a little bit
00:15:01.160 to show me the light
00:15:02.560 and I'm so lucky
00:15:04.340 that someone did that for me.
00:15:07.240 My parents gave me opportunity
00:15:09.520 to be free
00:15:10.700 and explore what I like.
00:15:12.680 My English teacher,
00:15:13.940 Jamal Asadi,
00:15:14.920 gave me opportunity
00:15:16.460 and invited Martha
00:15:18.200 to come to our English class
00:15:20.360 and Martha's family
00:15:22.240 gave me opportunity
00:15:23.960 to grow.
00:15:26.440 You know,
00:15:27.040 well,
00:15:27.720 you know,
00:15:28.060 you give people opportunities
00:15:29.420 and whether or not
00:15:30.840 they take advantage of it
00:15:32.180 or appreciate it
00:15:33.740 is up to them.
00:15:35.120 We're going to leave you on that,
00:15:36.160 but the opportunity is there
00:15:38.200 in front of you
00:15:38.940 for you to see the signs
00:15:40.020 of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
00:15:40.980 and turn to Him
00:15:42.480 because every opportunity
00:15:43.540 that you have,
00:15:44.260 it's from Him
00:15:44.920 and you believe in God
00:15:46.100 and we'll leave that
00:15:47.300 with you inshallah.
00:15:48.520 You have the choice.
00:15:49.400 Like Martha said,
00:15:50.080 she said something
00:15:50.400 very interesting
00:15:51.140 that everyone has opportunities.
00:15:53.020 It's up on them
00:15:53.720 to take it or not
00:15:55.000 and we'll leave it with that
00:15:56.080 inshallah.
00:15:56.340 Thank you for your time.
00:15:58.280 May Allah bless you guys.
00:15:59.840 Bless you inshallah.
00:16:00.900 And brother,
00:16:01.200 you can get in contact with us
00:16:02.140 inshallah.
00:16:02.420 I hope this benefited you
00:16:03.320 in a positive way.
00:16:04.600 Till next time.
00:16:05.380 Assalamu alaikum
00:16:06.060 wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
