00:01:05.020
Well, you can ask, but you won't get an answer.
00:01:42.900
just to come and maybe take pictures with the kids and just...
00:01:49.420
It creates a bit of fun for everybody, you know?
00:02:01.460
Well, I certainly would think that any Santa Claus would believe in God.
00:02:05.140
I think it's based, as you may know, on St. Nicholas.
00:02:09.680
I think he was from Turkey, if I'm not mistaken.
00:02:23.100
...giving out presents to children and things like that.
00:02:35.320
Well, I'm loathe to label myself, if you know what I mean.
00:02:44.460
But certainly I believe in God, there's no question about that.
00:02:49.160
There are these various stories, and I'm sure you'll not be unfamiliar here.
00:02:54.160
You've got people like Christians, Muslims, and a few Jews as well.
00:02:58.020
And they'll all say, I'm right, no, no, you're right.
00:03:05.180
So you've got to, you know, it's hard to know which stories are true, which stories are not true.
00:03:12.340
So let me tell you, as a Muslim, our perspective.
00:03:15.080
And then we can decide what is your belief system.
00:03:26.080
No, I've always had the belief that there is a God.
00:03:36.220
Because everything that we see around us is created in intricate design.
00:03:43.640
And as we all know, that if we take some sand or whatever, throw it on the floor, it will scatter into nothing.
00:03:52.400
Maybe if we get that same sand and we can mold it into a shape of an animal and we can present something.
00:03:58.360
But we had to have an intelligent thought to make that happen.
00:04:02.260
The sand wouldn't form itself into like a rabbit.
00:04:13.580
You're speaking the truth and you've got intelligence.
00:04:16.420
I've spoken here to atheists who will come and tell me that the universe came from nothing.
00:04:25.420
And for you to come and just say simply what you said is as Muslims, we 100% agree with that.
00:04:39.900
Well, I would be inclined to think, number one, why would he be a man?
00:04:49.820
And also, I would reason that if God were to be a man, he is lacking something.
00:04:58.660
Because I'm lacking something, I'm a man, but I don't have the attributes of a woman.
00:05:13.760
So, I don't think he would, again, like labelling, I don't think God would label himself with this or that.
00:05:20.220
I mean, I think probably people get the idea that God is a man because they think that, well, you know, the masculine side of the world is, it dominates and gets things done.
00:05:35.000
And I think, well, that must be what God is, you know.
00:05:37.740
But, okay, look, you're getting more intelligent as you're speaking.
00:05:44.640
Because you're speaking from reason and rationality and logic.
00:05:47.860
And as Muslims, we believe that every person is born a Muslim.
00:05:57.040
Because nobody had to come and tell you that God is not a man.
00:06:01.540
Like, I don't need to come here and tell you, by the way, Ed, God is not a man.
00:06:04.980
You'd be like, well, duh, of course I know that.
00:06:10.840
Or if I said there is God, you're going to say, of course there is God.
00:06:13.240
What you're doing is we call the fitra in Islam.
00:06:18.660
What the fitra means is you are innately programmed to acknowledge God exists, to acknowledge he is one, to acknowledge he is not the creation, but rather the creator.
00:06:30.020
The stuff you've just said to me is things a Muslim says.
00:06:38.540
So, Ed, jokes aside, you are uttering the words a Muslim would say.
00:06:49.880
This is the definition that we give to God Almighty.
00:06:54.320
Like, I'll recite a verse in the Quran for you.
00:07:12.960
He does not beget, nor is he begotten, and there is nothing like him.
00:07:27.640
Yes, our perception of God is that we believe God has attributes.
00:07:35.080
He has a will that he will the universe and us to come be.
00:07:39.300
Now, what God Almighty wants as Muslims from us is what?
00:07:50.500
So, is there anything about Islam that you don't know?
00:07:54.540
Because you already believe in the fundamental, which is who God is.
00:07:58.200
Would you accept that God has to be all-knowing?
00:08:04.740
So, there's certain things that you believe in.
00:08:06.620
Now, is there anything you don't know about Islam that you had a question mark about?
00:08:10.360
Well, like I say, there are so many things in stories.
00:08:16.060
People put one perspective and the other side put, oh, that's wrong.
00:08:20.420
It's very hard to really, I mean, you will appreciate the Christians.
00:08:29.040
They will say that, you know, Jesus is, and I know that you regard Jesus as a prophet.
00:08:36.640
But the Christians will say that Jesus is actually the son of Christ.
00:08:48.320
But you, as a person who's not a Christian or a Muslim, logically, does that make sense?
00:08:54.260
From one perspective, you could argue that it doesn't make sense.
00:09:00.260
From another perspective, you can argue that it does make sense if you are prepared to accept these steps that you'll be presented with.
00:09:11.480
Now, putting faith aside and using logic and rationality, you said God cannot be a man.
00:09:19.460
Well, I can't say that God can't be a man, but logically, it wouldn't...
00:09:26.520
I'm sure God could be whatever God wants to be.
00:09:29.500
So if God wants to be a man, I can't say, you know...
00:09:43.100
The only way I can answer that is, um, surely God could do whatever God wants to do.
00:09:49.440
Okay, we say God does whatever befits his majesty.
00:09:52.940
For example, can we say God can cease to exist?
00:09:57.300
Well, I suppose only by God's own will could that happen.
00:10:01.480
Okay, so we say he can't die because if he dies, then that would be against his nature because he's the ever-living.
00:10:06.500
So what we say is God cannot lie because lying is something that is not righteous.
00:10:15.800
That's why we say God will never be a man and cannot be a man.
00:10:24.080
No more, really, than little touches here and there in the...
00:10:48.200
So I'll hear, and what I've done throughout growing up as a child, you know, you'll hear stories and so on.
00:10:55.580
You know, I've got a good thing from the Bible I can say.
00:11:00.760
And, you know, I can tell you, you're probably aware of it, in the fact that I think that Jesus, I think, said that, you know, on the last day or whatever, God will turn to you and say, you know, you did these bad things.
00:11:26.420
And people will say, no, God, I didn't do these things to you.
00:11:30.080
And God will say to you, whenever you did these things to anyone, you did it to me.
00:11:39.500
God, you're talking about the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad, he said that when I was not well, you didn't visit me.
00:11:46.560
And he said, oh, God, you are the, you will never be unwell.
00:11:49.580
So he's talking about a person who was, my servant was ill.
00:11:57.840
Can you maybe just do this like on a random chapter and a random verse and may, let's see if there's a message in the Quran for you.
00:13:21.720
Now, whether you endure it patiently or impatiently, it is all the same for you.
00:13:26.400
You are merrily rewarded for what you used to do.
00:13:29.340
Of course, the God-fearing will be in gardens of bliss, enjoying what their Lord will have given to them,
00:13:35.220
and their Lord will have saved them from the punishment of hell.
00:13:42.000
It will be said to them, eat, drink pleasantly because of what you used to do.
00:13:45.820
Now, this is talking about the people of hellfire, the people of paradise.
00:13:52.620
And we say that that could only happen with our relationship with God Almighty.
00:14:05.160
13 years ago, I was embarking on my journey of finding the true faith.
00:14:21.220
I found Islam, not only does the Quran preserve, hasn't been changed.
00:14:27.080
Historical miracles, linguistic miracles, the prophecies.
00:14:30.240
So I would just ask you, pray to God and ask Him and say,
00:14:37.020
Because in the Quran, it's talking about the people of the fire who denied the hell fire.
00:14:41.340
You must accept that if God exists, there must be a reason He put us here.
00:14:48.120
Why would God just put us here and leave us on our own?
00:14:53.280
So, therefore, I want to, inshallah, see you in paradise.
00:14:55.920
So, I would say, when you get home, just do a prayer and say,
00:15:04.600
If you have any other questions for me, anything else?
00:15:12.620
And I ask God Almighty to guide you and myself.
00:15:25.100
It was very interesting speaking to Santa Claus.
00:15:27.540
I've been looking for him for the past 15 years.
00:15:33.360
My sisters, may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala guide him to Islam.
00:15:38.580
And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will guide those who have good heart, inshallah.
00:15:43.940
As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
