00:00:58.000 What does the Quran tell us?

00:00:59.000 And obviously we know the mention of the hijab is mentioned for the sisters

00:01:04.000 But what is mentioned for the brothers?

00:01:06.000 What is obligatory?

00:01:08.000 What has Allah told them, ordered them to do?

00:01:12.000 Bismillah wa alhamdulillah wa salatu wa salam wa ala rasulullah

00:01:15.000 Sallallahu alayhi wa salam amma ba'd

00:01:17.000 So if you go into Surah An-Nur, right?

00:01:20.000 In those two specific ayat which speak about the men and the women

00:01:25.000 Where it talks about the men lowering their gaze and the women covering themselves

00:01:28.000 We see that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

00:01:30.000 He basically commands the men to lower their gaze

00:01:34.000 Right? But the way that's used is Ghada

00:01:36.000 Okay? And it's kind of like a soft kind of look

00:01:40.000 Right? When you're not doing a hard stare like this

00:01:42.000 Okay

00:01:43.000 You're not staring hard

00:01:44.000 The first gaze, yeah?

00:01:45.000 Yeah, it's like you know when you just like look at something and you're just like

00:01:48.000 Wow, you know, you're proper shot

00:01:49.000 You're not supposed to do that

00:01:51.000 That's the kind of look that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says that it's not nice, right?

00:01:54.000 And you should come with a more kind of soft look

00:01:56.000 And you have to look at it in context, right?

00:01:59.000 Why the ayats were revealed

00:02:01.000 Because a few ayats back Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala talks about

00:02:03.000 You know, entering into somebody's house, right?

00:02:05.000 So when you enter into somebody's house

00:02:07.000 The men are told to lower the gaze, have a soft look

00:02:09.000 Why? Because there might be women inside the room

00:02:11.000 There might be women that haven't properly dressed themselves up yet

00:02:14.000 The scarves and heads are not covered and so on and so on

00:02:17.000 So they need to be, you know, prepared and stuff

00:02:19.000 And this is a subtle kind of, if I say, clothing

00:02:23.000 Which Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has given the men, right?

00:02:26.000 Of humbleness, right?

00:02:27.000 Okay, can I just ask a quick question?

00:02:28.000 Yeah

00:02:29.000 Okay, what about some sisters come and say, for example

00:02:31.000 Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has told us to dress up

00:02:33.000 Because men can't lower their gaze

00:02:35.000 Is that the case or is that?

00:02:37.000 Okay, so a lot of the times, a lot of you, like you said

00:02:40.000 A lot of sisters will say that

00:02:41.000 Why do I have to wear a hijab just because men can't lower their gaze

00:02:43.000 Because they're just like thirsty alamos or something, right?

00:02:46.000 Why is it that I have to wear a hijab anyway?

00:03:11.000 First Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says to the men

00:03:14.000 And then He tells the women that you should cover yourself

00:03:17.000 Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells the men

00:03:19.000 Lower your gaze

00:03:20.000 And then He tells the women that you should cover yourself

00:03:22.000 Why?

00:03:23.000 Because it will give you an Iman booster, right?

00:03:26.000 Because Surah Al-Nur, a lot of the ulema say

00:03:28.000 It's all about your Iman

00:03:29.000 It's all about refixing your Iman

00:03:31.000 And that is why the women are specifically told

00:03:34.000 Not because you have to put it on because men can't control themselves

00:03:37.000 It's got nothing to do with that

00:03:39.000 If that was the case, like I said

00:03:40.000 It would have been the other way around

00:03:41.000 But Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala made it inseparable from each other, right?

00:03:46.000 They're the two separate things

00:03:47.000 Men lower their gaze for another reason

00:03:49.000 And then the women having to wear their khimar

00:03:51.000 For another specific reason for their own Iman

00:03:54.000 You see what I'm saying?

00:03:56.000 That's really true because the bit where you said it helps your Iman

00:03:58.000 It's like basically as I was watching a lecture

00:04:01.000 It basically says the Ansari woman

00:04:03.000 They were basically when they heard this verse

00:04:05.000 That it says a woman should cover their hair

00:04:07.000 They were basically ripping up their, you know

00:04:09.000 The apron

00:04:11.000 They were ripping up their garments to wear it

00:04:13.000 Just to fulfill the ayah, right?

00:04:16.000 So it just shows like you said the Iman

00:04:18.000 So okay, so we understand that basically the brothers have a big duty upon them as well

00:04:22.000 As well as sisters, you know, you have to lower your gaze

00:04:24.000 So that's really true what brother Saad just said

00:04:27.000 And this really goes for the brothers because

00:04:29.000 You know, there's some double standards within the Ummah

00:04:32.000 And it's not really nice because it's not just about sisters wearing the hijab

00:04:35.000 You know, it's just them, pinpointing them

00:04:36.000 You've got a duty upon you as well

00:04:38.000 Because obviously the Quran tells us that a man should cover his from his navel to his knee

00:04:43.000 In the hadith of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam

00:04:46.000 Above, what is between the above the knee and below the navel that should be

00:04:51.000 Below the navel should be covered up

00:04:52.000 Yeah, this is what I mean

00:04:53.000 Because what happens with some brothers is basically

00:04:55.000 Because they just think it's about sisters

00:04:57.000 Sometimes you have brothers that go on Facebook

00:04:59.000 They have a full beard, mashallah

00:05:00.000 You know, they're practicing the deen

00:05:01.000 But let's say when they go on holiday

00:05:03.000 They're topless, you know

00:05:04.000 It's like it's a duty upon you, you have to cover it, right?

00:05:07.000 Yeah, so we need to, you know

00:05:09.000 This is something you need to take heed on

00:05:10.000 You know, this is something you need to understand

00:05:12.000 You know, it's not just mentioned for the sisters

00:05:14.000 It's a duty upon you as well

00:05:15.000 And lowering your gaze

00:05:16.000 We know how hard it is

00:05:17.000 Trust me, we know how hard it is

00:05:18.000 Especially for the brothers coming to the deen

00:05:20.000 In the deen, it is really hard

00:05:21.000 You know, to lower your gaze

00:05:24.000 Lower your gaze to a point where you know where you're going

00:05:26.000 You don't need to like, look around gaze
