00:00:08.000Very excited to be back with you here tonight on Monday for another exciting week of America First.
00:00:16.000And tonight we've got a little bit of a different show than normal.
00:00:20.000Tonight, of course, is the first night and the beginning of the Democratic National Convention, which for the first time is going to be entirely digital.
00:00:35.000So we'll be watching the Democratic National Convention.
00:00:38.000It's not really happening in the traditional sense.
00:00:42.000They're holding it in Milwaukee, but all of the presentations are going to be remote.
00:00:47.000So it's not like it usually is, of course, because of the pandemic.
00:00:50.000But we'll be watching tonight, and the Democratic National Convention should start in about a few minutes, and it will go until 10 o'clock.
00:01:01.000So the scheduled duration is about two hours.
00:01:04.000So we'll be watching, and we'll be covering it live here.
00:01:08.000Tonight, and it looks like right now we've just got some commentary.
00:01:12.000It doesn't officially start for another three minutes, but it's going to be an eventful night.
00:01:17.000There will be speeches by Michelle Obama and Bernie Sanders tonight, are the big speakers.
00:01:25.000And the DNC will be held every day this week except for Friday.
00:01:30.000The DNC will take place at the same time and the same duration Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
00:01:37.000I don't know if we'll cover it every night.
00:01:39.000We'll see how it goes tonight if people.
00:07:18.000I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
00:10:10.000Almighty God, we confess that our nation needs you and has always needed you.
00:10:15.000We pray for your blessing upon all of us Republicans, independents, and Democrats.
00:10:21.000As we strive to form a more perfect union, we pray for your strength, guidance, and wisdom.
00:10:28.000Lord, we recognize that we are living in challenging times that call us to live up to the highest angels of our national character.
00:10:36.000As we confront the turbulent winds of a global pandemic, economic uncertainty, and civil discord, may your gracious hand lead us to the peaceful shores of love, justice, and civility.
00:10:49.000Help us, O Lord, to be ever mindful of the most vulnerable among us, from our golden generation to our youngest children, desde nuestros immigrantes to our veterans, from our healthcare workers to our school teachers.
00:11:03.000Give us a heart of compassion and grace.
00:11:07.000This nation, from Miami to Minneapolis, And from Portland to El Paso, ask you to shepherd us to a hope filled vision that does justice.
00:11:17.000Ama la misericordia and walks humbly before it.
00:11:21.000I pray this in the matchless name of Jesus.
00:11:28.000Welcome to our convention across America.
00:11:30.000We had hoped to gather in one place, but instead we figured out a safe and responsible way to come together to share our ideas and talk about the future of our country.
00:11:41.000And that's the kind of leadership we need right now.
00:11:43.000That's the kind of leadership that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will bring to the White House.
00:11:49.000So during the next four nights, we will gather safely from our homes to listen, to learn, to be inspired, to act, to vote, and to build that more perfect union.
00:12:01.000I am honored to be with you this evening.
00:12:03.000I'm here tonight as a ninth generation Texan, as a daughter of a veteran and a teacher, as a mother, as a voter, and as a patriot.
00:12:12.000I share Joe Biden's belief that the story of America is one of ordinary people coming together to do extraordinary things.
00:12:20.000And at our best, our country rewards hard work.
00:12:23.000We celebrate diversity, we look out for each other, and we lift one another up.
00:12:28.000So tonight, we're going to begin with the simple kindness we've been extending to each other a lot lately.
00:12:35.000We're going to check in with folks around the country and ask, How are you doing?
00:12:40.000As many of you know, small businesses employ half of all U.S. workers.
00:14:03.000We are the greatest nation in the world.
00:14:08.000And it just seems to me that, you know, maybe if we just came together on this one issue alone, maybe as Americans and being united, we can overcome.
00:15:04.000So I started doing virtual read alouds online, which has been so fun getting to interact and meet new kids and encourage and promote the joy that we can find in reading and in learning.
00:15:14.000It's also super fun to see teenagers like me going on social media and talking about social issues and injustices that they care about because sometimes you don't have that space in school.
00:15:24.000So I hope that a year from now, you know, when we get to go back and be safe and be protected, that we will still have these conversations and still have a new possibility in a new world.
00:18:58.000Well, thank you for taking the time to speak with us and sharing your thoughts.
00:19:03.000You are the we, and we the people, and you are who this convention is about.
00:19:09.000In 1776, the Declaration of Independence, we hold these truths to be self evident.
00:19:17.000These words, these words are the basis for the American creed equality, equity, fairness, decency.
00:19:25.000America didn't live up to that promise for most of the people at the time.
00:19:29.000A prompt to people of color, a whip for women.
00:19:32.000But we were born of an idea that every single solitary person, given half a chance, no matter where they're from, given half a chance, there's not a single thing they cannot do if they work at it.
00:19:55.000But we'll be hearing from several of Wisconsin's leaders throughout this convention, starting with Congresswoman Gwen Moore.
00:20:07.000Hi, I'm Gwen Moore, and it's my honor to represent Milwaukee in Congress and to kick off the 2020 Democratic Convention.
00:20:17.000Oh, I sure wish you all were here in the city of Milwaukee, which takes its name from the languages of the first peoples, interpreted as good land and gathering place by the waters.
00:20:30.000This is a city where blood was shed for labor rights.
00:20:34.000Where a fugitive slave was freed from prison, where women's right to vote was first ratified.
00:20:44.000However, we gather unified in spirit, unified in our values and purpose to heal divisions and together move the nation confidently into a prosperous, inclusive society.
00:24:39.000There's not a single thing we cannot do if we do it together.
00:24:43.000That's just a completely hollow message.
00:24:45.000And liberals eat that up and they think they're like intelligent for that, you know?
00:24:52.000Liberals have this superiority complex that, you know, Democratic parties for intellectuals, serious people, and you listen to their nominee and it's like, we want facts instead of lies.
00:26:32.000But tonight, we're going to talk about three specific crises we face the pandemic, an economic downturn, and an ongoing systemic racial injustice.
00:26:42.000But we're not just going to focus on what's wrong, we're going to talk about how to make it right.
00:26:47.000When peaceful protesters were tear gassed across from the White House, our next speaker stood up, stood strong, and turned that place into the Black Lives Matter Plaza in their honor.
00:28:01.000But I said enough for another reason too.
00:28:04.000I have a two year old daughter, and I want her to grow up in an America where she's not scared to walk to the store, an America where she's safe behind the doors of her own home, an America where the president doesn't fan the flames of racism and looks out for all of us.
00:28:19.000So I created Black Lives Matter Plaza right behind me as a place where we could come together to say enough.
00:28:27.000And by coming together this November to elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, We will say next because we can't just paint those words behind me.
00:35:21.000And to do this, we need community action.
00:35:23.000We need Congress that can have power to do it.
00:35:26.000And we need a president who understands that this is the moment.
00:35:33.000The moment has come for our nation to deal with systemic racism, to deal with the growing economic inequity that exists in our nation, to deal with the denial of the promise of this nation.
00:36:32.000I started doing activism when I was 15.
00:36:35.000It was at the intersection of knowing both the perpetrator and a victim.
00:36:39.000My brother Andre was shot and killed in Philadelphia.
00:36:42.000And it made me realize that I had a responsibility, almost a collective responsibility, to assure that that didn't happen to other young people.
00:36:52.000In America, right now is our collective responsibility to each other and to realize that the person down the street or around the corner, even across the country, that we have a responsibility to ensure that we're making sure that they're safe, they have access to education, and that in all, we're creating a world in which their differences are celebrated as well as protected under the law.
00:37:13.000Mayor, how are you prioritizing the many things you have to do as we try to tackle in a way that we haven't before systemic racism in the city?
00:37:22.000Really, it's about economic empowerment.
00:37:26.000Because if people are lifted out of poverty and they are given an opportunity to feel a stake in their own future, that goes a long way.
00:37:36.000We're also challenging all kinds of institutions, from corporations to community based organizations, to think about what they can do better to end systemic racism and make sure that we're uplifting the quality of life in the communities, but also the voices of people that traditionally don't have a seat at the table.
00:37:59.000The president's talking about defunding the post office and mail in voting.
00:38:04.000What do you think we should be doing, Mr. President?
00:38:06.000Well, first of all, we have to change the public discourse around voting.
00:38:12.000It should be seen as a democratic thing to do, the most patriotic thing we can do, and not a partisan exercise.
00:38:21.000Secondly, how do we open up access to voting?
00:38:27.000Not only should we reauthorize the Voting Rights Act, but we have to go further.
00:38:31.000Most importantly, voting should be seen as a constitutional right that's guaranteed, and with that level of sight, that all citizens can be assured that they can have unfeathered access without being suppressed.
00:38:47.000This is a watershed moment, and we can't lose this moment.
00:38:49.000We have got to have action at the national level, we have got to have congressional action.
00:38:54.000We cannot have 18,000 police departments, and in 2020, have police departments still allowing the use of a knee on a man's neck in George Floyd.
00:39:12.000And we're hopeful that we'll have some national standards as it relates to policing, use of force, a national database, abolishment of prohibition and a national standard in terms of chokeholds, and that we actually use the death of George Floyd and others to actually make policing take it to the next level, which is what everyone wants, including all the good cops that are out there, that thankfully there are more of them than there are bad cops.
00:39:39.000Most cops are good, but the fact is the bad ones have to be identified and prosecuted and out, period.
00:40:26.000We have to go to the politicians and we have to hold their feet to the fire because otherwise, the big uprising is not going to mean a lot.
00:40:35.000So I'm just asking that if you become the president, you make sure that we get national law as well as state.
00:40:46.000And local law, especially when it comes to police brutality, because that has been an age old problem.
00:40:55.000Well, I may be kidding myself, but I think the people are ready.
00:41:15.000Racism, structurally, individually, and systematically, is real.
00:41:20.000Black, brown, no matter what you look like, you should not ever be fearful of your life due to the color of your skin.
00:41:27.000What I want to see in the next president of the United States is someone who's fair, who believes in equal justice under the law.
00:41:34.000I want him to lead us through this revolution that we're experiencing right now.
00:41:40.000Joe Biden is a healer, and he's a unifier.
00:41:42.000He will fight for the Black Lives Matter movement, undo, remove, tear down the remnants of structural and systematic racism in this country.
00:42:34.000I'm Congressman Jim Clyburn here in historic Charleston, South Carolina.
00:42:39.000Six months ago, I stood not far from here and endorsed Joe Biden to be our 46th president.
00:42:46.000It was a decision I made with my feet firmly planted in this community.
00:42:52.000This community, where 80% of African Americans in this country can claim an ancestor who arrived on these shores in bondage, a few blocks from here over at Gaston's Wharf.
00:43:05.000This community that is still healing from the wounds we received when a white supremacist entered Emmanuel AME Church and murdered nine black parishioners as they studied the Bible together.
00:43:18.000The ground beneath our feet is seeded with pain that is both old and new.
00:43:24.000But from that soil, we always find a way to grow together.
00:43:30.000Earlier this summer, the city of Charleston removed a statute honoring John C. Calhoun, an honored advocate of slavery.
00:43:39.000And construction is underway on the International African American Museum at Gadsden's Wharf.
00:43:46.000Much like the country as a whole, we are stepping out from the shadows of our past and beginning to lay the groundwork for a more just future.
00:43:57.000We can only succeed if we move forward together.
00:44:01.000So we will need a president who sees unifying people as a requirement of the job, a president who understands the true meaning of community.
00:44:13.000And how to build it through trust and humility.
00:44:17.000And with so many families experiencing loss in this pandemic, lost jobs, lost loved ones, and lost confidence in the president to keep us safe, we need a president who understands both profound loss and what it takes to bounce back.
00:44:35.000But more important than his firsthand experience with loss and hardship is his ability to translate that perspective.
00:44:44.000Into policy and solutions, and prioritize hardworking people and persistent poverty counties over partisan politics or personal gain.
00:44:56.000That's why I stand with Joe and why he will always be an adopted son of South Carolina.
00:45:04.000Joe Biden is as good a man as he is a leader.
00:45:08.000I have said before and wish to reiterate tonight we know Joe, but more importantly, Joe knows us.
00:45:22.000I do a lot of things in life, but the thing I'm most proud of is I am a TAPS military mentor, and that's how I spend the majority of my time post Marine Corps.
00:45:34.000Building memories like the ones we build together is the single best thing I do with my time.
00:45:39.000Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives and share in the journeys for the past decade.
00:45:44.000We've got about 500 kids and family members and mentors, and we're all packed.
00:45:50.000And all of a sudden, the back door opens up and in walks Joe Biden.
00:45:56.000I had almost an out of body experience because he surprised us all.
00:46:00.000You know, I like to think I'm decent at reading people from my time in the Marine Corps, my time as an Intel officer, my time as a drill instructor, my time studying psychology.
00:47:05.000In 2014, he helped stop the spread of Ebola and brought the world together to keep it contained.
00:47:12.000And after that success, knowing this would happen again, Vice President Biden and President Obama assembled a pandemic playbook to make sure that America was prepared and protected.
00:47:24.000The Trump administration disbanded the pandemic response team that was given to them.
00:47:31.000Americans have died and lost their livelihoods because of it.
00:47:35.000We, the people, deserve a president who believes in science, that recognizes the threat of COVID, who has a plan to get us through it.
00:48:45.000And in many ways, COVID is just a metaphor.
00:48:48.000A virus attacks when the body is weak and when it cannot defend itself.
00:48:54.000Over these past few years, America's body politic has been weakened.
00:48:58.000The divisions have been growing deeper.
00:49:00.000The anti Semitism, the anti Latino, the anti immigrant fervor, the racism in Charlottesville, where the KKK didn't even bother to wear their hoods.
00:49:09.000And in Minnesota, where the life was squeezed from Mr. Floyd.
00:49:14.000Only a strong body can fight off the virus, and America's divisions weakened it.
00:49:21.000Donald Trump didn't create the initial division.
00:49:25.000The division created Trump, he only made it worse.
00:49:31.000Our collective strength is exercised through government.
00:49:33.000It is, in effect, our immune system, and our current federal government is dysfunctional and incompetent.
00:49:42.000In fact, it didn't even see it coming.
00:49:44.000The European virus infected the Northeast while the White House was still fixated on China.
00:49:50.000The virus had been attacking us for months before they even knew it was here.
00:49:56.000We saw the failure of a government that tried to deny the virus, then tried to ignore it, and then tried to politicize it.
00:50:03.000The failed federal government that watched New York get ambushed by their negligence and then watched New York suffer, but all through it learned absolutely nothing.
00:50:14.000So today, six months after it began, The nation is still unprepared.
00:50:20.000And we now face a second threat, but this time not from Mother Nature.
00:50:25.000This is a man made threat by our own negligence.
00:50:29.000We now see the virus ricocheting across the country from one state to another.
00:50:36.000Today, we trail the world in defeating COVID.
00:50:42.000Americans learned a critical lesson how vulnerable we are when we are divided, and how many lives can be lost when our government is incompetent.
00:50:53.000But we learned something else, my friends.
00:50:55.000We saw the negative, but we also saw the positive.
00:50:58.000As they prove their way failed, we prove that our way succeeded.
00:53:36.000He voted for him, listened to him, believed him and his mouthpieces when they said that coronavirus was under control and going to disappear, that it was okay to end social distancing rules before it was safe, and that if you had no underlying health conditions, you'd probably be fine.
00:53:55.000So in late May, after the stay at home order was lifted in Arizona, my dad went to a karaoke bar with his friends.
00:54:02.000A few weeks later, he was put on a ventilator, and after five agonizing days, he died alone.
00:54:10.000In the ICU with a nurse holding his hand.
00:55:00.000Donald Trump may not have caused the coronavirus, but his dishonesty and his irresponsible actions made it so much worse.
00:55:09.000We need a leader who has a national, coordinated, data driven response to stop this pandemic from claiming more lives and to safely reopen the country.
00:55:21.000We need a leader who will step in on day one.
00:55:28.000One of the last things that my father said to me was that he felt betrayed by the likes of Donald Trump.
00:55:35.000And so when I cast my vote for Joe Biden, I will do it for my dad.
00:55:42.000Thank you, Kristen, for sharing your story.
00:55:45.000Our nation grieves for your father and all those who we've lost to this virus.
00:55:51.000It's a toll that hasn't fallen equally on us.
00:55:54.000People of color have been disproportionately affected, dying at greater rates than white Americans.
00:55:59.000But we can honor all of those we've lost by giving Joe Biden and Kamala Harris the opportunity to put in place a real national plan that tests and tracks, that makes sure that access to a vaccine will be fair, and turns the full power of our government toward making sure we have the supplies and technology and people, scientists and public health officials and contact tracers.
00:56:26.000So, right now, let's hear from a champion for our frontline workers who also happens to be an Olympic champion and a World Cup champion, Megan Rapino.
00:56:54.000Chung Lee, can you tell us a little bit about how you're doing during this time?
00:56:57.000So early on, when the government was still trying to figure out proper protocols to protect frontline workers, I had unfortunately contracted COVID through a patient contact and was isolated by myself for two weeks.
00:57:29.000And I knew how that felt because for two weeks, that was me, not knowing if you were going to wake up, not knowing if you were going to make it, who you were going to talk to, if you can say goodbye.
00:57:40.000This was people's moms, dads, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, all dying alone.
00:57:46.000And we know there's a round two coming.
00:57:48.000And mentally, physically, emotionally, I don't know how many of us on front lines are going to survive that second round.
00:57:56.000Dr. Bradley, what effects are you seeing inside your hospital doors?
00:58:02.000Of the inaction of the Trump administration when it comes to this COVID response?
00:58:06.000I mean, I've left the emergency department in tears and so now a lot of my colleagues.
00:58:12.000People are exhausted, and we're looking at the tsunami that's coming this winter with COVID and influenza.
00:58:18.000And I think all of us are wondering how our system is not going to just collapse?
00:58:22.000Because if we're not there, when people come with their broken arms or they come with their heart attacks and strokes, their appendicitis, we're not going to be there.
00:58:31.000What were you seeing on the front lines?
00:59:04.000Not only have I answered thousands of calls of people that are sick, but people that are dying.
00:59:11.000Michelle, tell us a little bit about how it's been.
00:59:14.000For you on the front lines, what your specific role is.
00:59:19.000As a union nurse, I've been primarily more in the forefront on advocating that our healthcare workers and our patients get the support and the PPE that they need.
00:59:32.000You know, 10 years ago, I responded to the disaster in Haiti.
00:59:37.000We were working in a tent hospital after the earthquake.
00:59:41.000But, you know, the first time that I ever feared for my life, And my family's walking into work was in my own country.
01:00:12.000Dr. Bradley Dreyfus, Aldo Martinez, Michelle Boyle, and Chung Lee, I can't thank you enough.
01:00:20.000The American people are forever indebted to you, to your work and your sacrifice, and just you showing up every single day and giving everything you have.
01:00:28.000And thank you again for all of the work you do on the front line.
01:00:32.000There's no way we could ever repay you.
01:05:10.000Senator Bernie Sanders will take the mic in just a few moments from now.
01:05:14.000And the headliner of the evening, former First Lady Michelle Obama, she taped her remarks before tonight's event.
01:05:21.000We're also going to dip in and give you some analysis about this convention week.
01:05:25.000As well as what you, the voter, needs to know ahead of the November election.
01:05:29.000The first live speaker we're expecting in this hour is Michigan's Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
01:05:34.000She's expected to appear any moment now and will focus on one of the big themes tonight the coronavirus pandemic.
01:05:39.000Over the course of the night, the Democrats will also be talking about the tens of millions of Americans who are unemployed right now, also the racial injustice that has plagued our country.
01:05:49.000We have our team of correspondents and analysts in place to cover it all.
01:05:53.000Before Governor Whitmer takes the mic, let's check in quickly with NBC News.
01:05:56.000Political director in my last podcast, Chuck Todd.
01:05:59.000Chuck, what should we be listening and looking for this week?
01:06:03.000Well, look, Joe Biden's lead has been powered by anti Trump fervor.
01:06:09.000This week is a chance for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the campaign to provide material, to make the case of why people should be voting for their agenda.
01:06:20.000They're doing well right now by being anti Trump, and we're going to hear a lot of anti Trump.
01:06:24.000But this week, for it to be a success, they need to have people starting to think about being for Joe Biden.
01:09:37.000Not just the wealthiest among us, not a president who fights his fellow Americans rather than fight the virus that's killing us and our children.
01:09:47.000It's the people who put their own health at risk to care for the rest of us.
01:09:52.000They are the MVPs, the nurses and the doctors.
01:09:57.000The utility workers, truck drivers, and grocery clerks, the child care workers, the parents, the teachers, the mail carriers, and the auto workers.
01:10:07.000So many of these essential workers have lost their lives to COVID.
01:10:11.000Nearly a thousand health care workers, more than 170,000 people across America, including a five year old girl named Skyler from Detroit, whose mom is a police officer and dad is a firefighter.
01:10:28.000Generation after generation, our nation has been defined by what we do or what we fail to do.
01:10:36.000So, for Skyler, for her parents, and in the memory of all those we've lost, let us act.
01:10:52.000Governor Gretchen Whitmer, the first speaker of this hour, the Michigan governor has received a lot of attention, certainly for her handling of the coronavirus pandemic, also some criticism.
01:11:04.000Joining our coverage, senior Washington correspondent Andrea Mitchell.
01:11:09.000Andreas, who said she didn't want to leave Michigan, even though her name appeared on that VP list.
01:11:15.000Oh, she's got a great future in the party.
01:11:17.000And he, Joe Biden, really, really liked her and was very inclined to go with her as a running mate.
01:11:24.000But first, she has a lot of credibility for the way she handled the pandemic in Michigan.
01:11:29.000And that's what she was really aiming at today.
01:11:31.000That, tonight, that, and also trying to reach out to those Trump Democrats, the auto workers, the other union members.
01:11:39.000You know, they lost Michigan by 10,000 votes.
01:11:42.000And this is a Critical state for them to reclaim, and that's why she was given such a great platform tonight.
01:11:48.000Absolutely, and speaking of a big platform, tonight is Michelle Obama's night.
01:11:52.000She is essentially the keynote speaker.
01:11:55.000We await any moment someone you might not expect to see at a Democratic convention, former Republican governor of Ohio, John Kasich.
01:12:01.000That's coming up next as we keep our eye on that Democratic convention feed.
01:12:05.000But we want to turn now for more analysis to NBC News contributors, Senator Claire McCaskey, former senator from Missouri, and the editor of the National Review, Rich.
01:12:19.000And let's pick up on where Andrea just left off because it's no accident that Democrats are launching in Michigan with the governor of Michigan.
01:14:12.000Sometimes elections represent a real choice, a choice we make as individuals and as a nation about which path we want to take when we've come to challenging times.
01:14:25.000The stakes in this election are greater than any in modern times.
01:14:30.000Many of us have been deeply concerned about the current path we've been following for the past four years.
01:14:36.000It's a path that's led to division, dysfunction, irresponsibility, and growing vitriol between our citizens.
01:14:44.000Continuing to follow that path will have terrible consequences for America's soul because we're being taken down the wrong road by a president who is pitted one against the other.
01:14:55.000He's unlike all of our best leaders before him who worked to unite us to bridge our differences.
01:15:24.000It's the party of Lincoln, who reflected its founding principles of unity and a higher purpose.
01:15:31.000But what I have witnessed these past four years belies those principles.
01:15:36.000Many of us can't imagine four more years going down this path.
01:15:41.000And that's why I'm asking you to join with me in choosing a better way forward.
01:15:47.000I believe the best of America lies ahead, but only when we rediscovered our shared belief in the United States of America for our children's future, which can be bright, hopeful, and inspired if we choose to make it so.
01:16:06.000I know his story of profound grief that has so deeply affected his character.
01:16:12.000I know Joe is a good man, a man of faith, a unifier, someone who understands the hopes and dreams of the common man and the common woman, a man who can help us to see the humanity in each other.
01:16:26.000He knows that the path to a restored and rejuvenated America lies in respect and unity and a common purpose for everyone.
01:16:35.000Yes, there are areas where Joe and I absolutely disagree, but that's okay.
01:17:47.000America chooses the right path and pulls together like we've done so many times before.
01:17:52.000You know, we can dream big dreams and we can see the top of the mountain as a United States of America with a soul that is a beacon of freedom to the entire world.
01:18:08.000Hello, my name is Terry Williams and I've been a Republican for all of my adult life.
01:19:21.000And now, from Alabama, Senator Doug Jones.
01:19:25.000I'm Senator Doug Jones from the great state of Alabama.
01:19:28.000Growing up in the South meant growing up in the midst of stark divisions.
01:19:32.000But it was here in Alabama where Rosa Parks helped ignite a movement by refusing to give up her seat on a bus, where freedom riders of different races came together in pursuit of equality.
01:19:43.000And it was here in Alabama where John Lewis marched across a bridge toward freedom.
01:19:48.000From a young age, I knew the hope that comes from seeing good people work to heal our divisions.
01:19:54.000It's what led me to become the United States Attorney, where I convicted two Klansmen who murdered four young black girls in a 1963 Birmingham church bombing and delivered long overdue justice.
01:20:06.000I'm standing in front of an exhibit dedicated to their memory.
01:20:10.000Alabama has shown me that even our deepest divisions can be overcome because each of us want the same thing to be treated fairly and given the same opportunities and the freedom to live with dignity and respect.
01:20:22.000Now, some politicians try to pit us against each other.
01:20:26.000But I believe that Americans have more in common than what divides us.
01:20:30.000And in November, we have a chance to elect a president who believes that too.
01:20:34.000I've known Joe for more than 40 years.
01:20:37.000I met him as a wide-eyed law student, and he's been my friend and champion ever since.
01:20:42.000The Joe I know is exactly the leader our country needs right now.
01:20:46.000He can bring people together to find common ground while standing up for what he believes is right.
01:20:51.000After years of bitter partisanship, he can unite our country and get things done for working families and everyone looking for a better future.
01:21:00.000Because it's not about what side of the aisle we're on.
01:21:03.000It's about whether or not we're on the side of the people.
01:21:06.000The great John Lewis would often quote the old African proverb when you pray, move your feet, and then challenge us to do just that.
01:21:14.000As a nation, he said, if we're killed for the beloved people, we must move our feet, our hands, our resources to build and not tear down, to reconcile and not to divide, to love and not to hate, to heal and not to kill.
01:21:29.000In the final analysis, we are one people.
01:21:32.000One family, one house, the American house, the American family.
01:21:37.000Vice President Biden understands that, and he is who we need as our next president.
01:21:46.000Here we are on a Monday night in 2020, and we need to talk about the Post Office, the U.S. Postal Service.
01:21:57.000It is central to so much of our lives.
01:21:59.000Veterans count on the Post Office to get their prescriptions.
01:22:03.000Social Security beneficiaries count on the post office to get their checks.
01:22:08.000Grandparents depend on the post office to send birthday cards to their grandkids.
01:22:13.000Small businesses need the post office to do business.
01:22:33.000And here to say more is the first Latina elected to the United States Senate, Senator Catherine Cortez Masto.
01:22:46.000Hello, I'm Senator Catherine Cortez Masto from Nevada.
01:22:50.000This year, more Americans than ever before are going to vote from rooms just like this, marking their ballots at the kitchen table and exercising one of our most fundamental rights from home.
01:23:01.000But despite what the president says, voting by mail has been a secure, proven option for decades.
01:23:07.000In 2016, 33 million Americans voted by mail.
01:23:11.000Even Donald Trump has requested an absentee ballot twice this year.
01:23:16.000This fall, some Americans will choose to vote in a voting booth with a mask on, while many of us will choose to vote by mail.
01:23:24.000My home state took the advice of scientists and medical experts and listened to the people of Nevada to put in place a vote by mail system.
01:24:20.000Shared history and shared rights, including our fundamental right to vote.
01:24:26.000And this fall, we will send Joe Biden to the White House and will flip the U.S. Senate.
01:24:32.000With Mitch McConnell out of power and a Democratic majority in the Senate, we will expand voting access and protect voting rights.
01:24:41.000To do this, America, we need you on our side.
01:24:45.000So go to joebiden.com right now to chip in.
01:24:48.000And then head over to fliptesenate.com to help us take back the Senate.
01:24:54.000Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell know how to divide, but we know how to stand together and turn this country around.
01:25:05.000This year, we had an historic field of presidential candidates.
01:25:09.000An historic number of women, including our vice presidential nominee, Kamala Harris, more candidates of color than any primary ever, and the first openly gay man to win a caucus.
01:25:21.000This party, the Democratic Party, welcomes everyone.
01:25:25.000Encourages everyone to lead and invites everyone's ideas to ensure this country builds back better.
01:25:33.000This is what our next speaker believes, too, Senator Amy Klobuchar.
01:25:47.000Like my friend Catherine, I believe that the right to vote is fundamental and the post office is essential.
01:25:56.000You know, the president may hate the post office, but he's still going to have to send them a change of address card come January.
01:26:04.000Donald Trump just happens to be in my state today, trying to divide people instead of responding to the pandemic and the significant needs of our economy.
01:26:14.000But Democrats, independents, and yes, many Republicans have had enough.
01:26:21.000Tonight, my friends, in contrast, we've heard a lot about how we can unite as Americans, about our shared values, our shared dreams, how we've come together in the face of crisis.
01:26:33.000But I want to be clear unity isn't about settling, it's about striving for something more.
01:26:56.000It is the North Star for our democracy.
01:26:59.000Now more than ever, we need a president who will unite this country.
01:27:03.000We need a president who, in George Floyd's memory, instead of using the Bible as a prop, will heed its words to act justly.
01:27:14.000We need a president for the workers who've lost their jobs because this administration is selling American workers out when we need to buy American.
01:27:24.000For the farmers and manufacturers and the people of rural America who are sick and tired of reaping what he's sown.
01:27:31.000We need a president who will look out for the seniors like my dad, whose families now visit them through glass windows, never knowing if it will be the last time they see them.
01:27:43.000We need a president for all of America.
01:27:46.000I come from the middle of this country where we believe in people joining together to solve problems.
01:27:59.000He's a man of scrappy working class roots, a man whose own hardships have only made him more determined to lift up those who have been left out.
01:28:08.000He understands redemption and he knows resilience.
01:28:50.000To cross the river of our divides, to bring this nation together, to be a president for all of America.
01:28:58.000As I said the day I endorsed him, If you feel stuck in the middle of the extremes in our politics, if you are tired of the noise and the nonsense, you have a home with me and you have a home with Joe Biden.
01:29:13.000That's why I was so proud to stand with him then and to address this great country.
01:29:18.000That's why I'm now standing united behind Joe and my friend Kamala.
01:29:25.000Our nation's motto is out of many, one.
01:29:29.000And as you're about to see, it's also the story of the Democratic primary.
01:29:43.000We all ran for president motivated by the same reason.
01:29:47.000As I watched President Trump divide this country more and more, I thought to myself, what are you willing to do to stop him?
01:29:54.000You had the most destructive, hateful, racist president in the history of this country who is literally tearing apart the fabric of the United States of America.
01:30:05.000Donald Trump is a failed business person and desperately failed us as a president.
01:30:11.000I ran for president because I think it's urgent that we heal the divisions.
01:30:14.000In this nation, we are still in control of our own future, and we need to provide millions of Americans a real path forward.
01:30:21.000A green tax program, increasing the minimum wage, passing a national loan debt, mental health, starting with our costs, reproductive justice, economic justice, racial justice.
01:30:35.000And there is so much a new president can do to bring us together.
01:30:39.000It's time, yeah, yeah, I know, I know.
01:30:43.000Starting a presidential campaign is daunting.
01:31:55.000Was in the commercial break, puts his arm around me and starts telling me how good my ideas are.
01:32:02.000And next thing you know, I feel like he's giving me a pep talk and literally telling me how important it is, how really important it is that I'm on that stage.
01:32:13.000Joe called me the night I suspended and was extraordinarily gracious and comforting.
01:32:19.000And he told me I should be proud of myself, said that I did myself and my family a real service and the country a service.
01:33:20.000This is a guy that blames everyone for everything.
01:33:24.000You know, he blames the city of Baltimore, he blames the country of Denmark, he blames the Prime Minister of Canada for cutting him out of the Canadian version of Home Alone 2.
01:34:15.000If you're able to go to joebiden.com and chip in five, $10, whatever you can, to fund the change we need to save our democracy, because every bit matters.
01:34:26.000And it's going to take all of us to make this happen.
01:34:28.000And no one knows that more than our next speaker, the Biden Harris campaign's co chair, Representative Cedric Richmond from New Orleans, Louisiana.
01:34:40.000Think about the places that make your neighborhood feel like home the barbershop, where you can catch up on the latest neighborhood news while you get your hair cut.
01:34:48.000The restaurant, where they know your order by heart.
01:34:51.000Or this art studio, where a creative guy with a great idea and a ton of hustle turned an abandoned building into a second home for the entire community.
01:35:01.000You know, economists will tell you that small businesses like this one are critically important to our recovery.
01:35:07.000But they're also just plain important.
01:35:10.000Without them, the places we call home just wouldn't be the same.
01:35:14.000That's the thing Joe Biden understands that Donald Trump never has.
01:35:20.000When we talk about the economy, it's not just about the stock market.
01:35:24.000It's about whether you can find work that really means something to you instead of feeling like you're supposed to be grateful just to get a paycheck.
01:35:32.000It's about whether people who didn't inherit millions from their parents can build a business from the ground up and have a real chance to compete.
01:35:40.000And it's about whether in the richest country on earth, everyone, including women and people of color, feel included and empowered.
01:35:52.000That Joe Biden's plan to rebuild our economy will create millions of jobs.
01:35:57.000But Joe will tell you that his plan is about more than that, because he's seen the world from a different perspective than most politicians.
01:36:05.000He knows what it's like to live in a real neighborhood, not just penthouse apartments.
01:36:09.000He knows what it's like to take the train to work, not just a chauffeured limousine.
01:36:14.000That's why he looks at our economic challenges the same way working people do, and he'll solve them in a way that puts working people first.
01:36:23.000Joe Biden respects America's workers because he truly understands the dignity of work.
01:36:31.000You know, it was mostly small talk when we first met.
01:36:36.000When I would collect his ticket, and time went on, I learned more and more about him as our friendship grew.
01:36:45.000I think he's most comfortable around everyday working class people.
01:36:49.000He just always makes you feel like you belong.
01:37:00.000For more than 30 years, Joe Biden took the train to work.
01:37:06.000As a single dad, he promised to be home to kiss the boys every night and then make them breakfast in the morning.
01:38:52.000We have heroes all over this country, and a lot of the essential workers out there that we don't even see that are behind the scenes are keeping this country going.
01:39:21.000Our great nation is now living in an unprecedented moment.
01:39:26.000We're facing the worst public health crisis in a hundred years and the worst economic collapse since the Great Depression.
01:39:34.000We are confronting systemic racism and the enormous threat to our planet of climate change.
01:39:40.000And in the midst of all of this, We have a president who is not only incapable of addressing these crises, but is leading us down the path of authoritarianism.
01:39:53.000This election is the most important in the modern history of this country.
01:39:59.000In response to the unprecedented crises we face, we need an unprecedented response, a movement like never before of people who are prepared to stand up and fight for democracy and decency and against.
01:40:19.000And we need Joe Biden as our next president.
01:40:24.000Let me take this opportunity to say a word to the millions of people who supported my campaign this year and in 2016.
01:40:35.000My friends, thank you for your trust, your support, and the love you showed Jane, me, and our family.
01:40:44.000Together, we have moved this country in a bold new direction, showing that all of us.
01:40:50.000Black and white, Latino, Native American, Asian American, gay and straight, native born and immigrant, yearn for a nation based on the principles of justice, love, and compassion.
01:41:07.000Our campaign ended several months ago, but our movement continues and is getting stronger every day.
01:41:16.000Many of the ideas we fought for that just a few years ago were considered radical are now mainstream.
01:41:26.000If Donald Trump is re elected, all the progress we have made will be in jeopardy.
01:41:33.000At its most basic, this election is about preserving our democracy.
01:41:39.000During this president's term, the unthinkable has become normal.
01:41:45.000He has tried to prevent people from voting, undermined the U.S. Postal Service, deployed the military and federal agents against peaceful protesters, threatened to delay the election, and suggested.
01:41:59.000That he will not leave office if he loses.
01:42:03.000This is not normal, and we must never treat it like it is.
01:42:09.000Under this administration, authoritarianism has taken root in our country.
01:42:17.000I and my family, and many of yours, know the insidious way authoritarianism destroys democracy, decency, and humanity.
01:42:28.000As long as I am here, I will work with progressives.
01:42:33.000With moderates and yes, with conservatives to preserve this nation from a threat that so many of our heroes fought and died to defeat.
01:42:47.000This president is not just a threat to our democracy, by rejecting science, he has put our lives and health in jeopardy.
01:42:58.000Trump has attacked doctors and scientists trying to protect us from the pandemic.
01:44:03.000Instead of maintaining the $600 a week unemployment supplement that workers were receiving and the $1,200 emergency checks that many of you received, Instead of helping small businesses, Trump concocted fraudulent executive orders that do virtually nothing to address the crisis while threatening the very future of Social Security and Medicare.
01:44:31.000But the truth is that even before Trump's negligent response to this pandemic, too many hardworking families have been caught on an economic treadmill with no hope of ever getting ahead.
01:44:46.000Together, we must build a nation that is more equitable, more compassionate, and more inclusive.
01:44:55.000I know that Joe Biden will begin that fight on day one.
01:45:01.000Let me offer you just a few examples of how Joe will move us forward.
01:45:07.000Joe supports raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
01:45:11.000This will give 40 million workers a pay raise and push the wage scale up for everyone else.
01:45:19.000Joe will also make it easier for workers to join unions, create 12 weeks of paid family leave, fund universal pre K for three and four year olds, and make child care affordable for millions of families.
01:45:36.000Joe will rebuild our crumbling infrastructure and fight the threat of climate change by transitioning us to 100% clean electricity over the next 15 years.
01:45:50.000These initiatives will create millions of good paying jobs all across our country.
01:45:58.000As you know, we are the only industrialized nation not to guarantee health care for all people.
01:46:06.000While Joe and I disagree on the best path to get universal coverage, he has a plan that will greatly expand health care and cut the cost of prescription drugs.
01:46:20.000Further, he will lower the eligibility age of Medicare from 65 down to 60.
01:46:28.000To help reform our broken criminal justice system, Joe will end private prisons and detention centers, cash bail, and the school to prison pipeline.
01:46:41.000And to heal the soul of our nation, Joe Biden will end the hate and division Trump has created.
01:50:28.000All those folks who sacrificed and overcame so much in their own times because they wanted something more, something better for their kids.
01:50:39.000There's a lot of beauty in that story.
01:50:44.000A lot of struggle and injustice and work left to do.
01:50:49.000And who we choose as our president in this election will determine whether or not we honor that struggle and chip away at that injustice and keep alive the very possibility of finishing that work.
01:51:06.000I am one of a handful of people living today who have seen firsthand the immense weight.
01:51:13.000And the awesome power of the presidency.
01:51:17.000And let me once again tell you this the job is hard.
01:51:23.000It requires clear headed judgment, a mastery of complex and competing issues, a devotion to facts and history, a moral compass, and an ability to listen, and an abiding belief that each of the 330 million lives in this country has meaning.
01:53:58.000Too many are struggling to take care of basic necessities like food and rent.
01:54:05.000Too many communities have been left in the lurch to grapple with whether and how to open our schools safely.
01:54:15.000Internationally, we've turned our back not just on agreements forged by my husband, but on alliances championed by presidents like Reagan and Eisenhower.
01:54:27.000And here at home, as George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and a never ending list of innocent people, imagine if you're walking through an alley and be murdered.
01:54:38.000Floyd, Michael Brown, and Aaron Garner, all surrounding that.
01:54:42.000Is still met with derision from the nation's highest office.
01:54:48.000Because whenever we look to this White House for some leadership or consolation or any symbolism of steadiness, what we get instead is chaos, division.
01:55:08.000That's something I've been thinking a lot about lately.
01:55:12.000Mike Brown and George Floyd, they're dapping it up in hell.
01:55:16.000The recognition that someone else's experience has value too.
01:55:22.000Most of us practice this without a second thought.
01:55:26.000If we see someone suffering or struggling, we don't stand in judgment, we reach out because there, but for the grace of God, go I.
01:55:36.000It is not a hard concept to grasp, it's what we teach our children.
01:55:42.000And like so many of you, Barack and I have tried our best to instill in our girls a strong moral foundation to carry forward the values that our parents and grandparents poured into us.
01:55:56.000But right now, kids in this country are seeing what happens when we stop requiring empathy of one another.
01:56:06.000They're looking around wondering if we've been lying to them this whole time about who we are and what we truly value.
01:56:15.000They see people shouting in grocery stores, unwilling to wear a mask to keep us all safe.
01:56:30.000They see an entitlement that says only certain people belong here, that greed is good and winning is everything, because as long as you come out on top, it doesn't matter what happens to everyone else.
01:56:45.000And they see what happens when that lack of empathy. Is ginned up into outright disdain.
01:56:52.000They see our leaders labeling fellow citizens enemies of the state while emboldening the white supremacists.
01:56:59.000That's literally what you're doing to us.
01:57:02.000They watch in horror as children are torn from their families and thrown into cages, and pepper spray and rubber bullets are used on peaceful protesters for a photo op.
01:57:16.000Sadly, this is the America that is on display for the next generation.
01:57:23.000That's underperforming not simply on matters of policy, but on matters of character.
01:57:30.000And that's not just disappointing, it's downright infuriating.
01:57:37.000Because I know the goodness and the grace that is out there in households and neighborhoods all across this nation.
01:57:47.000And I know that regardless of our race, age, religion, or politics, When we close out the noise and the fear and truly open our hearts, we know that what's going on in this country is just not right.
01:58:28.000Going high is the only thing that works.
01:58:32.000Because when we go low, when we use those same tactics of degrading and dehumanizing others, we just become part of the ugly noise that's drowning out everything else.
02:03:00.000But more than that, he has never lost sight of who we are, all of us.
02:03:08.000Joe Biden wants all of our kids to go to a good school, see a doctor when they're sick, live on a healthy planet.
02:03:16.000And he's got plans to make all of that happen.
02:03:20.000Joe Biden wants all of our kids, no matter what they look like, to be able to walk out the door without worrying about being harassed or arrested or killed.
02:03:39.000He wants all our kids to grow up with leaders who won't just serve themselves and their wealthy peers, but will provide a safety net for people facing hard times.
02:03:52.000And if we want a chance to pursue any of these goals, any of these most basic requirements for a functioning society, We have to vote for Joe Biden.
02:04:35.000This is not the time to withhold our votes in protest or play games with candidates who have no chance of winning.
02:04:44.000We have got to vote like we did in 2008 and 2012.
02:04:49.000We've got to show up with the same level of passion and hope for Joe Biden.
02:04:56.000We've got to vote early, in person if we can.
02:05:00.000We've got to request our mail in ballots right now, tonight, and send them back immediately and follow up to make sure they're received and then make sure our friends and families do the same.
02:05:13.000We have got to grab our comfortable shoes, put on our masks, pack a brown bag dinner and maybe breakfast too, because we've got to be willing to stand in line all night if we have to.
02:05:28.000Look, we have already sacrificed so much this year.
02:05:33.000So many of you are already going that extra mile.
02:05:38.000Even when you're exhausted, you're mustering up unimaginable courage to put on those scrubs and give our loved ones a fighting chance.
02:05:48.000Even when you're anxious, you're delivering those packages, stocking those shelves, and doing all that essential work so that all of us can keep moving forward.
02:05:59.000Even when it all feels so overwhelming, working parents are somehow piecing it all together without childcare.
02:06:08.000Teachers are getting creative so that our kids can still learn and grow.
02:06:13.000Our young people are desperately fighting to pursue their dreams.
02:06:19.000And when the horrors of systemic racism shook our country and our consciences, millions of Americans of every age, every background rose up to march for each other, crying out, All right, already, we got it.
02:06:40.000Compassionate, resilient, resilient people whose fortunes are bound up with one another.
02:06:49.000And it is well past time for our leaders to once again reflect our truth.
02:06:56.000So it is up to us to add our voices and our votes to the course of history, echoing heroes like John Lewis, who said, When you see something that is not right, you must say something, you must do something.
02:07:34.000And if we want to keep the possibility of progress alive in our time, if we want to be able to look our children in the eye after this election, we have got to reassert our place in American history.
02:07:49.000And we have got to do everything we can to elect my friend Joe Biden.
02:07:55.000As the next President of the United States, thank you all.
02:14:06.000But I haven't read that book in a long time, so it's not really fresh in my memory.
02:14:12.000I don't really think about it that much.
02:14:16.000Jonah Broom says Hey, Nick, I've just discovered that this great girl I'm talking to online has simps messaging her and she isn't blocking them.
02:17:30.000Afghan Groyper says, What if your sister didn't give you a birthday present last year because she was testing if you got her a present just like you tested her?
02:21:00.000And then the Facebook tirade and IRL behavior, and then suddenly, if you're not going to defend the post office to the death, you're like an authoritarian fascist.
02:21:13.000I mean, that's why democracy is stupid and doesn't work because these people are, they don't have agency, they don't have the ability to govern themselves.
02:21:24.000Big Rams says, The more I see from the media, the more it looks like they're laying the groundwork for a domestic color revolution if Trump wins.
02:21:32.000They're going, I love when people say color revolution.
02:21:34.000Color revolution, it makes you sound smarter.
02:21:37.000No, it's not going to be a revolution.
02:21:41.000It's going to be a color revolution because it's a color revolution.
02:21:46.000And that's like those revolutions that they have in Eastern Europe.
02:23:45.000And then kids go in their rooms and they're on TikTok or they're on Twitter, Instagram all day and talking about their neuroses with their friends in group chats and group me's.
02:24:50.000We thought Generation Z was messed up in the head because of the proliferation of social media and smartphones, but now we've got Generation Alpha that doesn't leave the house, right?
02:25:01.000That they've got all of that, but on top of it, now they've got social distancing.
02:25:05.000I mean, we were already atomized before that, and now it's become an impossibility to have any kind of social fabric.
02:25:13.000I mean, even forget even a fabric, even a strand, you know?
02:25:50.000You know, we as Americans take it for granted that this is the exceptional number one country, but clearly it isn't.
02:25:58.000Clearly, what is permitted in this country, the incompetence, the dysfunction every day, and that is at every level and across the entire country, it just isn't present in other societies.
02:26:14.000In China, in Japan, in South Korea, we're diminished.
02:26:20.000You know, that's what that's getting at.
02:26:21.000For all the people that talk about comparing China to America, well, China doesn't have our freedom or China doesn't have our whatever.
02:26:29.000It's totally smashing this idea that the only workable model or even a workable model is liberal capitalist democracy.
02:26:39.000Because that was what a lot of people took away from the Cold War communism is defeated and the only way to go is liberalism and specifically liberal capitalist democracy.
02:26:54.000And that's just not the case because we're seeing in China, they're clearly not liberal, they're not democratic, they're not capitalist, and they've got a country that is, you know, and there are, of course, problems in China, don't get me wrong.
02:27:09.000But in spite of those problems, they're becoming a wealthy nation, and more than that, the fundamentals are there in terms of education and in terms of tradition and order and orderliness in general, compared to the, you know, just the leniency that we have for.
02:27:26.000All kinds of bad behaviors in this country.
02:28:12.000I think that he should name Cannon Hinnant.
02:28:15.000I think it would be ideal to talk about it at the convention and maybe even make campaign ads about it, about Cannon Hinnant and all these other victims.
02:28:25.000I mean, and they understand this perfectly well when it's a non white victim, when it's a black cop that gets killed in relation to BLM or.
02:28:34.000It's a black or Hispanic kid that gets killed in relation to BLM, like that Legend kid.
02:28:39.000Do you remember Operation Legend was when they deployed DHS to all those cities?
02:28:44.000It was named after, I think, some black kid whose name was Legend who died in relation to crime or riots or something.
02:28:52.000So they should do that, but with Cannon Hinnance, with somebody that looks like the demographics of the GOP.
02:30:17.000And more than that, additionally, because it's a male space, you're also talking about girls or other things.
02:30:24.000And what women introduce into that is sensitivity, distrust, competition, all kinds of problems.
02:30:31.000You know, in a male only space, for some people, they say, oh, well, why not have a woman in the group chat?
02:30:37.000Or that's gay if you don't have women in the group chat.
02:30:40.000You can talk to women, you could talk to women online, you could talk to women IRL, you know, do whatever you want.
02:30:45.000But the point of the group chat is like the fellas hanging out.
02:30:48.000It's like guys hanging out at a bar or at a card game or something like that, and the same dynamics are at work.
02:30:57.000That's a place where you cannot be sensitive.
02:31:00.000It's a place where you can give each other banter, where there's conflict resolution, like I said, where it's real, where it's guys just being guys.
02:31:08.000You introduce women in there, and all of a sudden you've got guys trying to impress girls and guys that are just going to act the same no matter what.
02:31:15.000You've got maybe there's a thing, it's complicated with.
02:32:30.000And we've had each other blocked for a long time.
02:32:33.000But it came around through the grapevine that he was having this very humiliating and embarrassing public drama because one of his ex internet girlfriends was like going to leak his identity and was causing all this trouble.
02:32:50.000And it's just time and again how many times do we have to learn this lesson?
02:32:53.000How many times do I have to teach you this lesson?
02:32:58.000It just never pays, it's never worth it.
02:33:02.000Every single time on the internet, whether you reveal your identity or you don't, whatever you say in a group chat or in DMs, it's just never worth it.
02:33:10.000And the guy says, Well, you know, we're not going to win the country if we alienate half the population.
02:33:17.000It's like, you think 100% of the population is involved in the inner circle of politics?
02:33:24.000And for the same reason, you're not alienating all women on planet Earth by saying they cannot be in the inner circle of politics or at least the group chat.
02:33:34.000We can't keep making the same mistakes.
02:33:37.000How many times do you have to see this unfold this way?
02:33:40.000Where the woman actually isn't a woman, or the woman is a fed, or the woman becomes a leftist, or the woman gets cold feet and then talks to CNN, or the woman just doxes you, or, you know, I mean, you go down the list, it's all happened.
02:33:57.000Every single time something like that happens, and every different way that it can happen has happened multiple times.
02:36:24.000So when you bring people in and then you bring women in it and they're this giant liability, it's like you're putting everybody you know in harm's way, in jeopardy, and serious harm and high stakes.
02:36:37.000High stakes not just for yourself, but for the life of our cause and our political objectives.
02:37:42.000We need to treat our women with respect.
02:37:44.000It's like the problem is not feminism as an ideology, the problem is not left wing women, the problem is not women that are whores, the problem is equality.
02:38:13.000Women are not leaders like men, women are not political like men, women are not impartial like men, women do not have a justice based ethics like men.
02:39:04.000That CNN poll came out over the weekend and it put Biden only four points ahead of Trump, which that might sound like a lot, but that was a similar margin to where Trump was when he won in 2016.
02:41:05.000Yamato says to be left wing is to believe that humans are inherently good and that civilization oppresses them, while being right wing means to believe that humans are inherently barbaric and civilization forces them to behave.
02:41:18.000Given the archaeological evidence we have, it's clear which view is correct.
02:41:24.000That's, well, you know, a great example of this is poverty.
02:41:30.000Liberals really believe that poverty has been inflicted on the world, inflicted on the world by institutions or by people, and that poverty is not obviously the natural condition of the human race, and probably the natural condition of most people.
02:41:50.000I mean, if you didn't teach a baby how to do anything, they probably wouldn't be very productive in a sophisticated, complex society.
02:41:57.000But they view that, and a myriad You know, other problems as inflicted, whether it be criminality.
02:42:05.000When criminals commit crime, well, they are the victims of institutional harm and so on.
02:45:14.000All of these system wide practices, policies, rules, Are equal, and if they're not, it's to the benefit.
02:45:24.000It is at the expense of whites and to the benefit of non whites.
02:45:27.000Affirmative action is just one example, but there are many government programs that are the same way redistribution programs, welfare programs, you name it.
02:45:37.000So, but yeah, we've talked about this at length.
02:45:41.000Speczo says the amount of self hatred needed for a white person to watch this and still support Dems is insane.
02:45:50.000Adolescent male, or any kind of a white male, and watching this and being like, I'm going to be a good white slave for the Negro overlords.
02:46:00.000I'm going to be the perfect white livestock for our new Black Lives Matter ruling class.
02:52:02.000And I, you know, could you imagine if that's you on like public transportation or on the sidewalk and a pit bull just takes off towards you?
02:53:36.000Because, you know, if you look at my ancestry, my mom's all Italian, my father is half Mexican and half Irish.
02:53:45.000And historically in America, if you look at the census or really anything else, the historic racial division was between white and black.
02:53:53.000You know, it wasn't until recently that you start to have this category of non Hispanic white, and even a lot of Arabs to this day are counted as white.
02:54:02.000That's obviously not to say that Europeans are the same as Mexicans and Mexicans are the same as Arabs, but it is to say that, you know, the idea that my father comes from like a different racial group.
02:54:13.000I mean, you could say that maybe my father's father was mixed race or something like that, but, you know, as far as Mexican goes, there's even a lot of European in there.
02:54:26.000Mexicans, on average, have a large percentage of European DNA, and it also varies.
02:54:32.000You know, obviously, there are some Mexicans that are much closer to the Spanish side and some closer to the indigenous side, but I think it's basically ridiculous to say that I'm biracial.
02:54:44.000You know, I have what, 80% European DNA, white skin, green eyes, brown hair?
02:54:50.000You know, when people seriously, I know some people, I say that as a joke, oh, I'm Afro Latino, and, you know, some people use that to say, like, oh, Fuentes, you're against immigration, but it's basically ridiculous.
02:55:02.000Unreality says the nurse complaining that the government didn't figure out how to protect him from COVID.
02:55:07.000Shouldn't the nurse know better than the government?
02:56:04.000So we were never at a shortage of ventilators, hospital beds.
02:56:09.000It's just It's not true that people die from the pandemic because of Trump, but then you look at Trump's record, and he has a good record on the virus.
02:57:46.000My favorite Civs to play, I like Rome because I always play tradition.
02:57:51.000So the production bonus for buildings is really good for Rome because if you, you know, the way that you typically play tradition is you only build those, you know, three or four major cities and it's focused on production and buildings and things like that.
02:58:10.000And you also get that bonus where you get a culture building and all that.
02:58:16.000And obviously you don't get the benefits.
02:58:18.000Like settler production and all of that that comes with liberty.
02:58:22.000So, I usually do tradition in three to four cities.
02:58:25.000And, you know, if you're building those buildings in the capital, then it means that you can build them more quickly in the other cities, library, whatever, a watermill.
02:58:36.000I like India because India, you know, I don't like India, but I like playing India as a civ because they have that population bonus.
02:58:44.000Again, if you're playing tradition and you get that, what is it, minus 10% on happiness from your cities, then that allows you to, it kind of gives you a head start as far as happiness goes.
02:58:55.000It's not as tight when it comes to building happiness buildings and avoiding.
02:58:59.000All the penalties you incur when you have minus zero happiness.
02:59:03.000So I like India, I like Rome, I like Germany because you get the, what do they call those, those land shents or whatever, those land units, and you get the barbarians, maybe they become units.
03:01:15.000And same with that acoustic in the white girl on the beach, that other performance.
03:01:21.000And yeah, they're going to trot out the white people, the white farmer from Pennsylvania.
03:01:27.000Everything Republicans say the Democrats do about blacks, they do for whites.
03:01:31.000You know, Republicans say, oh, Democrats will go to the blacks and then they'll say, see you later, and they'll come back in four years to get their vote again, but, you know, they don't take care of you between the elections.
03:01:43.000It's like that's what it is for white people.
03:01:45.000Democrats are all day, every day, anti white.
03:01:49.000And then a few months before the election, they're going to trot out a white male farmer.
03:01:54.000And suddenly he's not toxic masculinity.
03:01:57.000Suddenly he's not microaggressions and, you know, born racist and so on, problematic.
03:02:05.000Now he's, you know, really thoughtful and we should really listen to him.
03:02:10.000Maxie Bro says, LMAO, I wish Trump was as authoritarian as Bernie says he is.
03:04:06.000Well, that's because in their mind, the difference between those words is that equality means that everyone is treated the same, and equity means that everybody's treated fairly based upon historical circumstances.
03:04:23.000So they'll say that equality is you treat the black kid from the ghetto and the rich white kid and the Chinese immigrant with millionaire parents. As all the same, all equal, colorblind, and they're going to stand on their merits.
03:04:37.000They argue that equity means that, well, we're going to give the black kid a huge leg up because, of course, and the white and the Asians are going to get a huge disadvantage because, you know, that's how you level it out.
03:06:02.000Tragic Atheist says, Been bringing on, sorry, has been binging on some mob movies, Goodfellas and Three Godfathers, classic Italian culture.
03:07:46.000I don't want to be bossed around like that.
03:07:48.000I don't want to go in the gym because I did that one time.
03:07:53.000I went to one of these local gyms, and part of the subscription is they gave you like a free trial for like some personal training program.
03:10:15.000I can imagine you and I are sitting across from the table and you're writing down the workout program, and then you're going to turn the paper around and slide it in my direction and point at it with the pencil.
03:13:39.000And the magical moment in the 2020 Republican convention when Derek Chauvin, headlining the Tuesday night lineup, said that he was not sorry for killing George Floyd.
03:17:48.000And then I became Catholic America first, Groyper, and totally different worldview.
03:17:54.000And I can confirm, you know, becoming a Christian isn't like going to solve all your problems in your real life.
03:18:01.000It's not going to make your life super easy and you're never going to feel pain or sorrow or anything like that.
03:18:07.000But I will say that when you become a Catholic or even I would just say a reactionary, when you kind of understand the way the world is on some level, not like I have all the answers, but you kind of get a feel for what's really going on here, I think it does change your outlook.
03:18:26.000Because a lot of people, I think, are miserable because they're searching or longing for something.
03:18:33.000That is not good for them, or that they don't really want, or for something that's missing but that they can find in church.
03:18:41.000You know, I feel like so much of not being religious, or maybe even just a realist in some sense, all that misery comes from these like delusions that people have.
03:18:51.000There's this dissonance between this expectation and reality, you know, between people's dreams, their hopes, and their, you know, this idea of happiness or whatever.
03:19:04.000And when you realize it's all bullshit, you know, at least that liberal consensus on what all of that means, I think that's when a big weight kind of comes off your shoulders in some ways, in certain ways.
