02:09:59.000 The first thing I want to talk about, though, before we get into the crash out on Elon and Trump, I do just want to talk a little bit about this post the other day by Tucker Carlson, just very briefly.

02:11:31.000 Tucker Carlson, who has been a staunch ally of Steve Whitcoff, but also Peter Thiel, and many of the elements in the tech run.
02:11:41.000 The tech bros that are part of the MAGA coalition, Tucker's been a big booster of them, of J.D. Vance, of Peter Thiel.
02:11:52.000 Ostensibly, J.D. Vance, like Steve Witkoff, like Trump, they're all against the war in Iran.
02:11:59.000 And Tucker put out this scathing essay or editorial post on Twitter yesterday.
02:12:06.000 Responding to the Mark Levin meeting, talking about how the neocons are pushing us into this war.
02:12:11.000 It's going to be catastrophic.

02:12:14.000 It's going to crash the economy because oil prices are going to go up.

02:15:35.000 What that means, if you don't know, is that at the very beginning, when the internet was getting off the ground and there was a peer-to-peer payment system being created, it was Peter Thiel and Elon Musk and their respective companies which came together to create PayPal.
02:15:51.000 And they did it with David Sachs and they did it with many of these other people that are now adversaries.
02:16:02.000 And then their network is vast as well.
02:16:05.000 Zuckerberg comes into the picture later and is involved with many of those characters also.

02:16:14.000 So Peter Thiel and Elon Musk, these guys go back 25 years.
02:16:18.000 Thiel and Elon go back 25 years to the beginning of the internet, to PayPal.
02:16:24.000 And now Elon with Doge is bringing Peter Thiel's Palantir people inside the government. 0.90

02:18:47.000 Years later, Peter Thiel puts money behind Trump and $30 million behind J.D. Vance, paves the way for Vance to become the vice president.

02:18:57.000 Now that Trump is president, Elon comes in having contributed $270 million to Trump and for that price tag gets to have his personnel in the Pentagon, the DOD, federal departments and agencies.
02:19:11.000 But it turns out many of the people that he brings in are more loyal to Thiel.
02:19:15.000 And come actually from the Tealverse and Palantir.
02:19:18.000 And although Doge mission is not completed, Palantir's is.
02:19:22.000 And Palantir is spreading its tentacles across the federal government and getting access to all the data.
02:19:28.000 This is the setup for what we're about to talk about.

02:19:35.000 The big story tonight is that Trump and Elon have finally broken up.
02:19:39.000 I think everybody realized it was inevitable.
02:19:42.000 And it was inevitable for a few reasons.
02:19:44.000 One, because it seems that Trump crashes out on everybody.
02:19:48.000 Whether it's his former attorneys, Steve Bannon, Jeff Sessions, Ann Coulter.
02:19:55.000 I mean, you name it.
02:19:56.000 There are very few friends that he's kept over the years.
02:19:58.000 Maybe Sean Hannity, Stephen Miller.
02:20:02.000 The list is kind of small.
02:20:04.000 You know, Mike Pompeo, Rex Tillerson crashed out on Bill Barr, you name it, Jim Mattis.
02:20:11.000 So it seems like it was inevitable for that reason alone.
02:20:14.000 But also, like I said at the very beginning, there is a fundamental tension in the coalition.
02:20:20.000 Last year, Trump was facing 300 years in prison.
02:20:24.000 He won the Republican primary because, of course, he has a connection to the base.
02:20:30.000 The MAGA movement is otherworldly.
02:20:32.000 It's transcendent.
02:20:33.000 It's immortal.
02:20:34.000 It's historic.
02:20:37.000 Ron DeSantis was going to beat Trump in a primary.
02:20:40.000 Nikki Haley, it's just insane.
02:20:42.000 So even though the Republican donors didn't want Trump to be the nominee, and they were happy to have a handshake with the Democrats and throw him in prison forever or kill him.
02:20:52.000 You know, Ken Griffin, Elon Musk, all these people, Peter Thiel, they weren't backing Trump in 23, in 24. It wasn't until Trump won the primary.
02:21:04.000 In spring, summer 2024 that everybody came around.
02:21:08.000 And then there was this big tent coalition.
02:21:11.000 There was reluctance on both sides.
02:21:14.000 Trump needed to win by any means.
02:21:16.000 He needed money.
02:21:17.000 He wasn't getting a lot of donations after he announced in 2022.
02:21:22.000 He needed funds.
02:21:23.000 Where could he get them?
02:21:25.000 Silicon Valley.
02:21:26.000 The Israel lobby.
02:21:28.000 Wall Street.
02:21:30.000 Wall Street, Silicon Valley, and the Israel lobby weren't in love with Trump either.
02:21:35.000 The Israel lobby was decidedly behind DeSantis and then Nikki Haley.
02:21:39.000 So was Wall Street, so was Silicon Valley.
02:21:42.000 Ken Griffin at Citadel jumped the Trump train back in 2023 and was backing DeSantis, and he led the pack.
02:21:49.000 Silicon Valley was initially behind DeSantis.
02:21:53.000 Elon Musk and David Sachs hosted Ron DeSantis' presidential announcement in May of 2023.
02:22:01.000 But I think both sides came together and said Trump needed the White House.
02:22:04.000 So did Silicon Valley.
02:22:06.000 So they came together.
02:22:07.000 And key concessions were made.
02:22:09.000 Trump promised that Israel would get the West Bank.
02:22:13.000 Trump promised that Silicon Valley would get their H-1B visas.
02:22:17.000 And probably promised to be moderate.
02:22:19.000 Maybe insinuated that he wouldn't be as radical as he was telling the base.
02:22:23.000 And we saw that after the election.
02:22:26.000 When Elon Musk went out on Twitter with many of the other Silicon Valley people.
02:22:30.000 And defended what amounts to like an open borders legal immigration policy.
02:22:35.000 They said we need as many H-1B visas as possible.
02:22:38.000 We need to open up the floodgates to all this foreign labor from India because it's good for the economy and it's going to make us competitive and we need it. 0.91
02:22:46.000 And it made Trump look terrible and sort of alienated Elon from the base and maybe in some ways put strain between Trump and Elon.
02:22:54.000 So the stage was set from the very beginning.
02:22:57.000 This was a marriage of convenience.
02:23:01.000 Elon got into this very late in the game and almost reluctantly.
02:23:05.000 He was never a fan of Trump.
02:23:06.000 He was involved in a steering committee back in 16 or an advisory committee and flipped out because of climate change.
02:23:15.000 He endorsed DeSantis in 2023.
02:23:18.000 I mean, he wasn't on the Trump train until after Trump got shot and Biden dropped out.
02:23:24.000 So by no stretch of the imagination were they ever 100% aligned or even maybe 50% aligned.
02:23:31.000 And Elon said that he jumped in in 2023 and 2024, not because of immigration like Trump did, but because of the budget.
02:23:39.000 Elon jumped in, this is what he says, because he wanted to reduce the deficit.
02:23:46.000 Now, I'm skeptical.
02:23:48.000 I think that's a code word.
02:23:50.000 Certainly he doesn't want to reduce the deficit when it comes to But nevertheless, Elon said he's getting in because we need to reverse the substantial deficits to prevent the government from becoming insolvent.

02:24:14.000 Either way, real or fake, whether that's a front or not, that is actually in contradiction with what Trump wants.
02:24:21.000 Trump ran in 2016 on reversing the invasion of the southern border, building a wall, deporting millions of illegals.
02:24:30.000 And the deficit was actually the least of Trump's concerns.
02:24:33.000 Trump was not a small government, fiscal conservative, budget hawk.
02:24:37.000 Trump was actually like a big government conservative populist.
02:24:40.000 He wanted a big military.
02:24:42.000 When he was asked about Obamacare, he said we need to take care of everybody.
02:24:45.000 Famously, he's in favor of deregulation and tax cuts, but So they were fundamentally at odds.
02:24:59.000 This was clear from the start that this relationship was going to fray.
02:25:02.000 And finally it did.
02:25:04.000 And once again, the precipitating cause of this, like I said at the beginning, this is only the precipitating factor, maybe not the fundamental reason, but this is just what led to this.
02:25:16.000 The precipitating cause of the split today was over this one big, beautiful bill act.
02:25:22.000 And just a refresher for those that don't know, when Trump won in 24, he told his allies in Congress that he wanted one huge bill that contains everything that he promised to the voters that he wants to get through Congress.
02:25:39.000 So that is the corporate tax cut from 2017.
02:25:42.000 They want to make that permanent.
02:25:44.000 That's the no tax on tips, no tax on Social Security benefits.
02:25:49.000 That is the – it's the border.
02:25:54.000 It's the border wall.
02:25:55.000 It's the mass deportations.
02:25:56.000 It's $150 billion to get the infrastructure and the personnel to deliver not just a border wall on river and on land but also enough personnel and detention facilities to deport maybe a million people per year or more.
02:26:13.000 So those are really the big items.
02:26:15.000 It's border, it's tax cuts, and they're going to get this through the Congress, even though they have a very slim majority, using the budget reconciliation process.
02:26:26.000 And this is a little tricky, but basically once every fiscal year, you can pass a bill in the Senate with a simple majority, which is 51 votes, as opposed to the normal 60. Republicans have 53 seats.
02:26:41.000 You can pass one bill every fiscal year as long as it increases revenue, decreases spending, or raises the debt ceiling.
02:26:50.000 That's the budget reconciliation process.
02:26:53.000 To unlock this special once-per-year rule where you can kind of cheat and get a bill through the Senate with just 51 votes, which is all the Republicans really have, it has to be revenue neutral.
02:27:06.000 Has to do one of those three things to unlock that rule in order to cheat.
02:27:12.000 Now, the big controversy is that for Trump to jam in everything he wants, it's really going to raise the deficit a lot.
02:27:20.000 For Trump to jam in the tax cuts and the hikes on military spending and border and enforcement spending.
02:27:29.000 There's going to need to be cuts to Medicaid, and they're going to have to raise the deficit by a lot.
02:27:33.000 It's only with a lot of creative accounting that they're able to show on paper that it's not going to have a major fiscal hit to the government.
02:27:41.000 And the bill also raises the debt ceiling by $4-5 trillion so that we don't have to worry about this until maybe after the midterms, maybe until after the next presidential election.
02:27:53.000 So Elon Musk raises the concern and says, hey, I've been doing Doge for three months.
02:27:59.000 I've been trying to cut everything.
02:28:00.000 No one's helping me out.
02:28:01.000 And now, not only are we not cutting $2 trillion, we're actually enshrining $2 trillion deficits into the law.
02:28:09.000 Not only are you not voting on my cuts, I could barely make any cuts, but also when all is said and done, we're not even reducing spending at all.
02:28:18.000 We're just codifying trillion, multi-trillion dollar deficits into the congressional ledger.
02:28:25.000 So Elon starts to openly and publicly lobby against the bill and gets more aggressive.
02:28:33.000 And it seems likely that the bill is going to pass.
02:28:35.000 The Senate is looking like they're going to be able to pass it with a simple majority by July 4th.
02:28:41.000 And so Elon starts to go very openly and aggressively saying, call your senators, call your congressmen.

02:28:49.000 He said the bill is going to bankrupt us.
02:28:51.000 It's got trillion dollar deficits.

02:28:56.000 Trump is asked about it today in the White House in a meeting with the German Chancellor, newly elected.

02:29:10.000 He said Elon was very happy standing in the Oval Office.

02:32:09.000 And that he, like other disgruntled former officials, was suffering from Trump derangement syndrome.
02:32:15.000 That's when Musk set the feud on fire, unleashing dozens of tweets highlighting the GOP's hypocrisy on deficits, claiming Trump would have lost in 2024 without him, and floating a new political party.

02:32:41.000 He runs Starlink, which is essential actually to the U.S. government's military operations in the world and in Ukraine.

02:32:59.000 He did put a lot of personnel inside the administration and he's going up against Trump.
02:33:06.000 So, first things first, let's just pretend for the sake of argument that everything that is happening is about this bill.
02:33:13.000 Let's just say that we're going to take it to face value and we'll say that Elon and Trump are legitimately fighting over the bill.
02:33:21.000 Because that's what it looks like.
02:33:23.000 What it looks like is that Elon got involved in politics to cut deficits.

02:33:30.000 He said, I don't care about vehicle tax credits.
02:33:33.000 And Trump is kind of lying about that.

02:33:37.000 And whether that's fair or not, I think everything's fair when you're in a feud.
