01:52:52.000 We completed all of our objectives, but also we're going to hit them harder than they've ever been hit and there'll be nothing left and there's so much more.

01:53:05.000 That is what characterizes this whole episode.

01:53:09.000 Entered the second week on Friday night.

01:53:12.000 It's now Monday.

01:53:15.000 So we're entering, I suppose you could say the second full week.

01:53:18.000 And we really have no clue what you could even call this.

01:53:21.000 And so tonight we're going to talk all about the latest updates.

01:53:25.000 We talked about the course of the war last week.

01:53:29.000 And where I left you on Thursday is pretty much where we are today, which is this.

01:53:35.000 The United States is looking for a quick and decisive victory that they're not going to get.

01:53:42.000 It is a strategic imperative for the United States to hit Iran as hard as possible and then quickly leave.

01:53:50.000 But in order to do that, we need to topple the regime, which our own military, our generals, the Pentagon said before the war that that is an impossibility, not going to happen.

01:54:03.000 And they were right.

01:54:05.000 10 days in, and the Iranian regime has not toppled. 0.78

01:54:09.000 And not only has it not toppled, but it seems to be getting stronger.

01:54:14.000 The Ayatollah died, but a successor was named today.

01:54:19.000 And there was a massive rally in Tehran in support of the regime and against the foreign intervention.

01:54:27.000 So what the general said, and this was widely reported, General Raisin Kane, the doubts, hesitancy from before the war, well, it has come to fruition.

01:54:45.000 Not only is Iran getting stronger, but they are still carrying out missile strikes, not only against the Gulf states and Israel, but maybe most importantly in the Strait of Hormuz, which we knew they would do. 0.94

01:54:59.000 Everybody has said for as long as we have been in a conflict with Iran that the thing you got to look out for, the number one risk, is that Iran will shut down the Strait of Hormuz.

01:55:12.000 And this is the narrow passage which separates the Persian Gulf oil from all the Gulf countries and the Indian Ocean.

01:55:20.000 And with Iran lobbing surface-to-sea missiles as well as drones and other projectiles, none of the ships are getting through, carrying all that oil, liquefied natural gas, copper, other things.

01:55:34.000 As a result, global oil prices hit $120 per barrel of crude oil over the weekend.

01:55:41.000 And if this continues into the end of March, this could constrain global oil supply by 10%.

01:55:49.000 And you have a global recession.

01:55:52.000 Recession risk is way up.

01:55:55.000 And other countries are trying to release their strategic reserves and they're trying to make due, but we knew this was going to happen.

01:56:03.000 And now here we are.

01:56:05.000 So we're going to break down what's going on.

01:56:07.000 We'll walk through all these different developments and we'll try to make some predictions here.

02:04:59.000 You had 1990, Desert Storm, the first Persian Gulf War.

02:05:03.000 2003, Iraqi freedom, the second Persian Gulf War.

02:05:07.000 2025-26, the third Persian Gulf War against Iran.

02:11:19.000 I am rooting for the Democrats to win in the midterms for no reason other than I want the Democrats to shut this administration down.

02:15:39.000 There's credible talk inside the administration that we will invade with ground forces, talking about Delta Force deploying to seize the nuclear materials or destroy the missile launch platforms.

02:45:40.000 As we talked about at the very beginning, it was a strategic imperative for the White House, for the United States and Israel for that matter, to go into Iran, quickly and decisively win,

02:45:55.000 and decisively means topple the government, not just kill its leaders, but collapse the government, create an unstable situation, a civil war, a revolution, an uprising, regime change, and then leave.

02:46:11.000 That is how we have to fight this war.

02:46:13.000 That is how we have to win it if we're going to.

02:46:18.000 Now we have entered day 10, and victory is nowhere in sight.

02:46:23.000 We have not toppled the government.

02:46:25.000 We haven't won.

02:46:28.000 And maybe the biggest problem is that we have not been able to suppress Iran's ability to counterattack using its missiles. 0.97

02:47:20.000 And using every domain of modern warfare, which is space, cyber, air, naval, ground, everything that we have, we marshaled all of it.

02:47:32.000 And using intelligence, combining insights and data, we were able to seriously degrade Iran's weapons systems, their ability to defend themselves, their Air Force, their Navy, missile launch platforms, regime targets, regime members. 0.85

02:47:56.000 And in order for us to win, that would have had to have been sufficient to destroy the government, meaning that someone in the government would surrender.

02:50:05.000 The second thing to change is that Iran's ability to counterattack has not been completely suppressed or destroyed.

02:50:13.000 Now, Iran, as we have talked about, is a huge country.

02:50:17.000 It's three times the size of Iraq, mountains and desert, huge population of 90 million people.

02:50:24.000 The population is dispersed across many large cities.

02:50:28.000 And they have been preparing for this war for decades.

02:50:32.000 So they have transformed their country into effectively a missile and drone factory inside of a fortress. 0.71

02:50:43.000 They make ballistic missiles and drones, and they make a lot of them and cheaply, and they make them deep underground so you can't hit them.

02:50:53.000 And these missiles are very mobile as well.

02:50:56.000 So the United States unloaded everything, rallied the government, not destroying it.

02:51:01.000 And the United States did not destroy all of the missiles.

02:51:04.000 So what does that mean?

02:51:06.000 Well, it means that on day 10, even though the United States and Israel have hit Iran 3,000 times and spent, I think it's $3 billion per day so far, Iran is still able to launch missiles without being able to be stopped. 0.76

02:51:27.000 Those missiles and drones are hitting Bahrain and Qatar and the Emirates.

02:51:31.000 And drones and missiles and projectiles from Yemen are hitting Saudi's eastern province where they have all their oil.

02:51:40.000 Other critical infrastructure is being hit.

02:51:43.000 And maybe most importantly, the Strait of Hormuz has been closed.

02:51:48.000 The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow passage which unlocks all of the Persian Gulf oil.

02:51:56.000 That is from where the Persian Gulf oil is shipped into the Indian Ocean and out to the rest of the world.

02:52:02.000 So all that oil in Saudi Arabia, in Iran, in Bahrain, in Qatar, in the Emirates, all these oil-rich sheikhdoms and kingdoms, you know, we identify the Middle East with oil.

02:52:14.000 It all comes from the Persian Gulf, and it all is transited by sea out the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran is strangling by bombing it relentlessly. 0.79

02:52:25.000 And so the commercial traffic in the Strait of Hormuz has been reduced by 80%.

02:52:32.000 Consequently, that is 20% of the world's oil supply goes through the Strait of Hormuz.

02:52:38.000 Global energy supplies are now severely constrained.

02:52:43.000 So why did the United States need to topple Iran's government quickly and decisively in the first week?

02:52:50.000 Because if the government isn't toppled or doesn't wave the white flag, and if the government is still able to launch missiles, in other words, if the regime and its missile arsenal is intact, then that means that indefinitely Iran can shut down the Middle East. 0.89

02:53:11.000 People can't fly in and out of these countries, which specialize in banking and tourism, things that are heavily dependent on people being able to enter and exit the airspace.

02:55:03.000 If there was an opportunity in January because of the protests, if that was the case, that window of opportunity is now closed and there is no way we can collapse the regime.

02:55:15.000 And if we can't collapse the regime through air power and sea power, then you're going to get a war of attrition.

02:55:22.000 And a war of attrition is a war that you cannot win.

02:55:25.000 It's unlikely that you can kill all 200,000 IRGC from the air.

02:55:33.000 It's unlikely you can destroy all of Iran's missiles from the air. 0.89

02:56:17.000 So global energy prices have exploded because of the conflict, because again, the supply is very constrained because a fifth of it is stuck in the Persian Gulf.

02:56:27.000 It can't get out because Iran is bombing it.

02:56:30.000 And so now the United States and our allies are starting to feel it.

02:56:35.000 Japan is starting to feel it.

02:56:36.000 Europe is starting to feel it.

02:56:38.000 The Gulf countries are starting to feel it, and they're getting worried.

02:56:42.000 They're getting worried because their oil is stuck and their tanks are filling up.

02:56:46.000 Their reserves of oil are filling up.

02:56:48.000 They're going to have to cut production, which is very costly.

02:56:52.000 And they're worried because their critical infrastructure is being hit too.

02:56:55.000 And so now the pressure is back on the United States.

02:57:00.000 Now, what does Trump do?

02:57:02.000 Well, you have two options.

02:57:04.000 You can look for an off-ramp and try to de-escalate.

02:57:08.000 What does that look like?

02:57:10.000 If we retreat, if we have a truce, a ceasefire, if we stop bombing Iran, maybe they will let us have the oil go through the Strait of Hormuz and we could have economic relief.

02:57:22.000 And that's critical.

02:57:23.000 Because if we don't get that oil flowing sooner rather than later, you're going to have a global recession in a few weeks.

02:57:30.000 It's going to get really bad.

02:57:32.000 So option one is you try to find an off-ramp, try to find an exit and de-escalate.

02:57:38.000 If we stop dropping bombs on Iran, and I don't know how you walk that one back, but let's say you do, and then you count on Iran stopping their closure of the Strait of Hormuz, then you can open that back up and you're in good shape. 0.95

02:57:55.000 The only other option is that you go in the other direction.

02:57:58.000 Rather than looking for an exit, you escalate.

02:58:02.000 You hit them somehow even harder.

02:58:18.000 Or two, you send in boots on the ground and you send in some limited tactical force to disable Iran's missile launchers or to attack the nodes of government or something like this in a bid to try to prevent them from launching the missiles.

02:58:36.000 Maybe you organize on the ground, you get the Kurds, you get an anti-government force and you try to overthrow the government.

02:58:43.000 But these are really the two lanes here.
