01:05:06.000 We're going to get into our first story and talk a little bit about this Iranian retaliation.

01:05:14.000 It's not a ton of new developments on that front today.

01:05:18.000 The big story is that Iran has now informed the United Nations that under UN international law, they are invoking their right to self-defense and they are going to retaliate against Israel.

01:05:32.000 So the news is Iran's reckoning is going to arrive in the next 72 hours.

01:05:40.000 It's going to be bigger.

01:05:42.000 Well, I should say first, it's going to be direct, meaning Iran is going to directly bomb Israel because of the violation of their sovereignty when Israel struck the leader of Hamas in their capital, Tehran. 0.73

01:05:57.000 So it is arriving soon.

01:05:59.000 It is going to be a direct attack.

01:06:02.000 It is going to be a bigger attack than Iran's attack on Israel on April 13th, which, like I said, involved hundreds of slow-moving drones, cruise missiles, and other missiles, ballistic missiles. 0.87

01:06:18.000 And it will most likely be followed by a separate or coordinated missile strike from Hezbollah,

01:06:25.000 From the Islamic resistance in Syria and Iraq and from the Houthis in Yemen.

01:06:33.000 So this is going to be a full spectrum attack, full spectrum retaliation from virtually every front outside of Israel that has been engaged in fighting since October 7th and those fronts are

01:06:48.000 Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and Iran, excluding the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

01:06:55.000 It's going to be absolutely massive.

01:06:57.000 On the other side, the United States has said, of course, that they unequivocally stand with Israel and will defend Israel.

01:07:09.000 The United States is deploying more defensive military assets to the region, including anti-missile systems and 12 Navy warships, which includes a carrier strike group, an aircraft carrier and a few destroyers and things like that.

01:07:25.000 So the United States, just as before, will be working with Israel to intercept the incoming missiles.

01:07:34.000 And they say it's going to be a very tough few days.

01:07:36.000 They say they're going to try to avert a regional war, although it is very likely, but it's going to be a very tough few days.

01:07:42.000 And these are the new developments.

01:07:44.000 I'm going to read a story, but here's the thing to consider.

01:07:49.000 As always, it is about these reciprocal escalations.

01:07:57.000 That's the operative word.

01:08:00.000 It's about pretext.

01:08:01.000 It's about these kinds of things.

01:08:04.000 And so the question concerning this latest round of fighting is will either side back down?

01:08:12.000 Maybe a better question, can either side back down?

01:08:16.000 The political leader of Hamas, who by the way, is the one that was pushing for negotiations with Israel, that's Haniyeh who was assassinated, he was killed in Tehran.

01:08:29.000 He was killed during inauguration week for Iran's new president who, I will remind you, died in a mysterious helicopter crash earlier this year.

01:08:39.000 He was killed in an IRGC bunker where the Mossad had planted explosives covertly two months ago.

01:08:50.000 The details I'm providing are meant to illustrate how humiliating this is for Iran, how provocative it is, and the gravity of the attack.

01:09:03.000 And so the question, to return to the question, who will back down?

01:09:07.000 Can they back down?

01:09:09.000 Can Iran back down from an attack like this inside their capital? 0.65

01:09:16.000 And what would backing down look like?

01:09:17.000 Well, backing down would be a symbolic strike, a gesture, a symbolic retaliation that doesn't actually kill a lot of people or even anybody at all.

01:09:30.000 That isn't significant, it doesn't damage military or civilian infrastructure, and it's meant just as a deterrent or a show of force.

01:09:40.000 Can Iran afford a symbolic strike like this?

01:09:43.000 No, I don't think they can.

01:09:45.000 Because obviously the first one, which was largely symbolic, let's remember, Iran's first in history direct attack on Israel in April was largely symbolic, it was a gesture.

01:09:59.000 They telegraphed it in advance.

01:10:02.000 They waited two weeks to reply.

01:10:05.000 Two weeks.

01:10:06.000 And they say that was in order to determine where Israel's red lines were.

01:10:11.000 And by red lines, they mean how could they not incur

01:10:15.000 An Israeli counterattack and continue the escalation.

01:10:20.000 So they delayed two weeks.

01:10:21.000 They intentionally avoided red lines drawn by Israel.

01:10:25.000 They telegraphed the attack.

01:10:27.000 The United States, Israel and Jordan knew when it was coming and where it was coming from.

01:10:33.000 They initiated the attack with slow moving projectiles, those very slow, very old drones.

01:10:40.000 And more than 90% of the projectiles were intercepted.

01:10:44.000 And so there was very little damage on the ground.

01:10:48.000 And that was really the purpose.

01:10:49.000 It was to send a message.

01:10:51.000 And the message was very clear.

01:10:53.000 The message was about volume, and it was about coverage.

01:10:58.000 Iran's attack on Israel in April was meant to say, we're not afraid to attack you. 0.73
