00:00:00.080 Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls and folk of all ages, it's that time again.
00:00:05.540 It is April 2026 and time to go over the holidays, holy days, and days of remembrance for our folk.
00:00:11.660 And we start that off. Our first day of remembrance is on April the 9th, just a couple days away for Jarl Halken Sigurddarsson,
00:00:20.220 who rose to power in 961 after his father's death and became a dominant ruler of parts of Norway,
00:00:26.240 initially serving under Herald Bluetooth for asserting more independence.
00:00:30.540 He resisted Bluetooth's rise to Christianization and returned to Norway,
00:00:36.420 remaining loyal to our ancestral gods and the Alcetru traditions.
00:00:41.120 His rule ended in 995 when he lost support among his people and was betrayed and killed by his own servants,
00:00:48.500 marking both a political and religious turning point in the region.
00:00:51.660 Next up, the very next day on April 10th is the Day of Remembrance for John Stubba York,
00:00:58.760 who was an Englishman born in 1918 and passed away in 2010, whose life included extensive
00:01:04.600 military service before he became a key figure in the modern revival of Alsatru.
00:01:09.900 After discovering the faith in the mid-20th century, he helped found the Odinic Rite and
00:01:14.540 played a central role in shaping its early doctrine, including contributing to the Nine
00:01:19.020 Noble Virtues.
00:01:20.600 He later became a leading public figure of the movement, guiding its growth and helping
00:01:24.700 re-establish connection to the Isir for modern practitioners.
00:01:29.020 And we are boom, boom, boom this month, because two days after that, on the April the 12th,
00:01:34.720 Day of Remembrance for Atharid, who was a Gothic chieftain in the 4th century, serving under
00:01:38.800 the ruler King Athanaric, also one of our Helig mother, and came from a line of subordinate
00:01:44.780 kings.
00:01:45.780 He is most notably remembered for his role in the persecution of the early Christians,
00:01:50.540 including participating in the killing of the martyrs, Sabaoth the Goth.
00:01:54.100 His reflections reflect the broader conflict between traditional Gothic ancestral faith
00:01:58.300 and the spread of Christianity during the period.
00:02:02.220 Our holiday for the month is Nornanots, following on April 30th, but of course we'll observe
00:02:09.900 it on the third Saturday of the month.
00:02:12.340 Lernanau is a traditional Alcetru festival marking the seasonal shift from winter towards summer,
00:02:18.040 centered on purification, fertility, and the preparation for the coming agricultural cycle.
00:02:23.840 It historically involves bonfires and the ritual use of smoke to cleanse and bless people and livestock
00:02:29.920 before moving them to summer pastures, often invoking Freyr and Freyr for abundance.
00:02:37.220 The celebration also features a notable division of roles,
00:02:39.800 Men and women holding separate rights before coming together, symbolizing both cleansing and renewal within the community.
00:02:46.860 With that, hail victory. Hail y'all. Have a good one. 0.99
