00:00:00.000 hey guys sorry about any confusion there um facebook interface is very very strange tonight
00:00:25.280 i'm just staring at a black screen so i hope you guys can see me also hope i'm not making
00:00:32.080 any kind of funny faces or picking my nose or something um yeah sorry about that guys
00:00:40.240 hope everybody's having a good summer um
00:00:46.880 it's a different one this year and i think you know no matter where you're listening to this
00:00:51.040 in the world we've had kind of an interesting few months but it's really an exciting time uh to be
00:00:57.440 in the austro folk assembly i'm very very hopeful that you guys will come out and join us at odin's
00:01:04.160 off for our 25th anniversary um that's going to be going to be really something i'm very excited
00:01:14.640 about it we've got a lot in store uh one of the big things we're doing is consecrating
00:01:22.320 our our burial space at odenshoff and uh interring our first uh the remains of our first
00:01:30.320 part of our fa family there so that's excuse me that's an exciting thing to to be there for and
00:01:37.920 it's really something special that our people have have wanted and have deserved for a very
00:01:42.880 long time so i'm excited to to do that uh like i said we got plenty of 25th anniversary stuff
00:01:49.600 to do and to celebrate uh steve and sheila mcnalen have a presentation for us about
00:01:55.920 the 25 year history of the austral folk assembly and kind of the amazing story that brought us to
00:02:02.000 where we are um so yeah thanks guys for joining me and thanks for uh for bearing with me with
00:02:10.480 these technical things here like say i had no idea if this is a pretty broadcast or not
00:02:16.720 but uh i'll do my best
00:02:23.120 so right off the jump here does anybody have anything that they uh
00:02:29.280 would like to talk about this evening or any questions for me to get started
00:02:34.560 i'll look um i've learned from past experiences and from tonight's experience with facebook here
00:02:44.660 that uh it may require me to do a little bit of looking at my phone to get that squared away
00:02:50.740 um so don't mind that i'm not uh not ignoring you or losing your your attention i just need
00:02:58.700 to look and make sure i'm getting all of the questions i want to answer if it's worth your
00:03:02.540 guys's effort to come on here and ask a question and it's important enough to you I really do want
00:03:07.820 to be able to get there and answer and as always after this I'll try to get back to everybody's
00:03:11.720 questions if something gets missed um looking on the side uh how's getting back to the gym
00:03:21.760 getting back to the gym is amazing um you know those of you who who work out I'm sure you guys
00:03:28.440 know what I'm talking about and know that feeling. One of the most difficult parts of the last
00:03:35.520 couple of months with the reactions to the coronavirus has been the inability for folks
00:03:43.220 to do things that manage stress, that help us through our daily lives, that kind of keep us
00:03:53.580 centered one thing about the gym is it's in a way it's a form of meditation in a way it's it's
00:04:01.160 something physically with your body you're doing that centers yourself and get your head in the
00:04:06.600 right space and i absolutely love it it's a big part of my life and it's been it's been absolutely
00:04:11.380 amazing to get back to it our gym here in reno is the best i've ever been to in my life it's the
00:04:18.960 best gym in the entire world as far as i'm concerned uh it was fantastic i went in there
00:04:25.100 they welcomed me home like i was family the guy at the front desk even had my my member number
00:04:29.760 all memorized and that meant a lot to me so things with the gym are going great um
00:04:35.620 i hope you guys are doing good i hope things are opened up in your area or opening up at least
00:04:43.080 um i see chase is getting back to his uh brazilian jiu-jitsu and his mma that's awesome i still got
00:04:54.320 to wait for the dojo to open up before i can get back to my jiu-jitsu that one's still uh still
00:04:59.900 kind of holding out but at least i got the regular gym to go to so i'm happy guy about that it's been
00:05:06.180 a good week stuff opening back up what else we got guys anything you want to talk about tonight
00:05:11.700 Well, something I would like to talk about, it's June, and kind of thematically, the AFA year
00:05:28.080 always starts at midsummer, and we kind of run the big themes and the big kind of evaluations
00:05:35.060 the Astro Folk Assembly often from midsummer to midsummer. This year marks the ninth year of our
00:05:45.300 our kind of bigger cycle that Ausheri Yothi-McNallan put us on. We're starting that ninth
00:05:52.980 year and the last three years of the cycle so the two years previous and then starting here
00:05:58.260 in midsummer have been a focus on immortality and immortality means a lot of things
00:06:08.820 in a lot of ways there's very very tangible things that we can do that will outlast us
00:06:14.100 and that will remain here in midgard after we've we've gone on to something else
00:06:19.940 and spiritually there's even more to be said as far as developing the self in a way that
00:06:25.700 survives the dying process but very specifically a lot of the immortality we focused on
00:06:33.220 is building the house true folk assembly into an establishment into a church that
00:06:37.780 stands the test of time into something that will be there for our children and our children's
00:06:43.540 children and uh hopefully well beyond that and that's certainly what all of us here at
00:06:49.540 the australia folk assembly and all the all the great people that we have volunteering
00:06:53.380 in afa leadership we're trying to build
00:06:57.860 i was having a really interesting conversation with uh gothe harrell the other day
00:07:05.700 and we were talking he's got a he's got a young son and and uh i just had my daughter in april
00:07:13.300 and it occurred to us that our his son and my daughter will never know a time that there
00:07:20.660 wasn't Hoffs to our gods. And that's kind of a simple thing to say, but for a lot of us who've
00:07:30.480 been doing Ausatru for a long time, it's really profound to know that our children won't ever
00:07:36.340 have known a time where Ausatru wasn't a thing, where we didn't have temples to our gods.
00:07:42.620 They came into this world when the AFA had a Hoff. My daughter came in when we had two
00:07:50.460 And when we've got membership in 16 different countries now, we've got AFA members for the first time as part of our AFA family in Iceland, which is really a special thing.
00:08:04.460 So focusing on that immortality has been a huge part of what we've been doing this year, the symbol that will guide that focus is answers.
00:08:13.460 And I think the connections of Ansu's and immortality speak for themselves in a lot of ways. But the idea of immortality through listening to our gods, Ansu's, you know, it's all about the gods and their inspiration, but it implies mouth and speaking, listening to what our gods have to tell us, and really focusing on our relationship and building that relationship with our gods.
00:08:42.020 building that truth with our gods literally being also true and i think that's a really profound
00:08:51.660 thing for us to think on as we as we finish up our immortality cycle and as we go through this
00:08:57.520 year trying to build those things that are lasting in our community and our family and
00:09:02.560 our kindred and certainly within the astro folk assembly um so yeah
00:09:09.120 sorry guys just checking the phone to see if anybody had anything they were
00:09:23.560 they were asking or anything you guys want to talk about or anything you guys might want to know
00:09:29.160 um things have been going really well for the astro focus assembly i want to assure you guys
00:09:37.580 that while a lot of things have been shut down and a lot of things have been locked up the afa
00:09:42.700 has tried to use that time to really build what we have internally to shore everything up to get good
00:09:49.180 things going um and to really focus on on growing and having great things and surprisingly during
00:10:01.260 this time we've had a lot of people come to the afa so i think that as we're coming out of it as
00:10:07.660 people are getting out and doing things you're going to notice there's a lot more afa members
00:10:11.420 in your area maybe a lot of new members close to you so i hope that we can all make the effort to
00:10:16.780 to welcome new new members to get them shuffled in and involved in all the great things that
00:10:23.740 the afa is doing it's been really exciting to watch that growth
00:10:27.740 both. One area that's been tremendously growing for us is the Northwest. We've got two new folk
00:10:35.680 builders helping out Joe Rosenick up there. We've got Johnny Larson and Katie Allen. And that energy
00:10:42.800 up there has been really nice to see. That area is growing. I think it's an amazing area with a lot
00:10:47.720 of potential for us to really develop. I'm excited to watch that grow. I'm excited to see what's
00:10:54.140 So if you live in that area, if you know folks that might be interested, now is a great time for them to join.
00:11:05.140 Other things that have been growing and developing really well is folks within the the proximity of Thorshof.
00:11:14.140 Since we've established Thorshoff, since we started making that a reality, actually, since we started looking in the area for a hoff, there's been a huge upswing in applicants and in members in that area.
00:11:29.740 And I really feel that that's a powerful way that WEIRD is working in our life and for what we're trying to do and with what we're trying to do.
00:11:37.380 So it's been really nice if you find yourself over in the Carolinas or within the general vicinity there, in case you haven't, in case you haven't heard, in case you weren't aware, in case you didn't hear our conversation last month, Thorshoth is in central North Carolina, a little town called Linden, and it's beautiful, it's amazing, it's brimming over with potential, and it's ours.
00:12:07.380 So I'm really excited about that next month on the 18th, we're going to do the official dedication of Thor's off the folks there.
00:12:17.380 Donner's Oak kindred and the iron guard kindred have been putting a lot of effort in trying to make that a really special place for us, a place that honors.
00:12:26.380 Honors Asa Thor, a place that is worthy of our folk and a place that's going to be an amazing, amazing spot for the Austro Folk Assembly together to honor our gods, to celebrate our folk, and to build fellowship with one another.
00:12:42.640 So I'm looking forward to going to that. If anybody can make time to be there, we'd love to see you guys out there at Thor's Hof on the 18th of July.
00:12:51.520 um but yeah we got got a lot of good stuff going on
00:12:56.880 all right so what else do we got guys we have any questions this evening
00:13:07.260 anything y'all want to talk about anything you guys want to want to hear me talk about
00:13:21.520 I'm looking on my phone, trying to make sure I'm not missing any of y'all's comments because it's been a little bit difficult.
00:13:37.560 Yeah, it looks like I am losing quite a bit of comments.
00:13:40.220 We'll get this figured out.
00:13:46.460 All right.
00:13:47.460 So, oh, I just saw your very nice compliment, Chase. Thank you very much. I'm glad that things are going well, and I'm glad that you appreciate what's happening and the direction the AFA is going in. As always, I'm going to do my very best to keep us going in a good place.
00:14:08.960 Um, Colton, um, need to be led in the right direction because you lost. I know that the
00:14:25.340 question you're asking is a spiritual question, but I'm going to start with a geographical answer.
00:14:31.920 what part of the world do you find yourself in? And if you do, if you let me know, I can direct
00:14:39.380 you to somebody who's close to you that can kind of help you. I'd certainly be happy to try to
00:14:43.320 answer any questions you may have, but I think it'd probably be really good to connect you with
00:14:47.900 someone close to you, perhaps one of our go-thar if we have somebody close to you.
00:14:56.520 James, curriculum or syllabus for a study group? It kind of depends on what you're trying to study
00:15:00.960 because that's really broad. But we have a lot of folks that have been leading really good study
00:15:05.980 groups on various topics and various books. And I can try to get you connected with some of those
00:15:11.340 folks. If you guys don't know, James Ault is one of our new folk builders serving the Midwest in
00:15:17.300 the Wisconsin area. He just had a really great meetup with a really good turnout this last
00:15:22.420 weekend. So if you are anywhere near Wisconsin, reach out to James and he would love to help you
00:15:29.140 get connected with our folk. You're welcome, Will. I wanted to post those things in honor
00:15:44.520 of our two Hoffs and in honor of our future Hoffs. In the Gilfagening, it's laid out what 0.97
00:15:58.060 author describes is the 12 a seer that are beneficial for for man to for man to worship
00:16:05.500 and those are the 12 that i did those posts on um that's the direction of what we're doing as
00:16:11.740 far as hoffs that's what we're trying to trying to do is hoffs in honor of of those gods in that
00:16:18.220 order and that's why i went ahead and posted that
00:16:28.060 ah clayton northwest colorado um when we start parsing it down to like specific parts of states
00:16:40.460 it becomes a little bit trickier we absolutely have a fault builder in colorado uh jason plurred
00:16:46.540 hopefully my wife mandy can can link you up with jason um in the chats there oh there i see jason
00:16:54.700 on the side uh your your help is needed jason yeah jason's a friend of mine he's been a folk
00:17:01.020 builder in the astro folk assembly for a long time he has a kindred in colorado he is he's
00:17:06.700 a great guy and he would love to help you get set up
00:17:10.700 We're working on ways for me to get all these questions. It's strange because they pop up
00:17:27.200 different places. My wife, Mandy, I appreciate her help on these things. She goes on her computer
00:17:33.160 while I'm on and tries to catch all the questions that end up getting missed.
00:17:40.700 As far as a folk builder in Washington, no, not at present, but Joe Rosenick is right
00:17:58.480 across the border there in the Portland area, and he does a great job helping out getting
00:18:03.320 washington setup so he's the guy i'd recommend you uh you reach out to
00:18:16.120 uh my wife tells me there's uh questions about the idea of hymenia and also about how weird works um
00:18:25.160 Those are broad questions, and I'll try to give it a little bit of a shot here.
00:18:32.860 Hopefully, whoever asked can specify a little bit more detail what we're looking at, and I can help a little bit better.
00:18:45.460 Both concepts of Hymenia and of weird are connected.
00:18:48.940 our lives are very complex and they're an interplay of a lot of different forces
00:18:56.860 a lot of forces having to do with things that you put in the well with your actions
00:19:02.140 with your intentions with your good deeds and with your uh with your not good deeds
00:19:09.100 and those weave together into a tapestry that affects the course and the direction of your life
00:19:17.020 certainly the norns have a say in some of this certainly the gods direct some things and put
00:19:26.500 some things in your path but you create a lot of your own weird with the choices that you make and
00:19:33.780 the decisions that you take and that changes the course of your life and the things that
00:19:39.400 presented to you and then the opportunities you miss out on um weird is a complex web
00:19:49.000 but i believe one of the things the austral folk assembly really believes is the concept of righto
00:19:54.840 if you do the right actions at the right time the idea is to work with weird
00:20:00.520 and have synchronicity occur to you and good things happen somebody's visiting us i've got
00:20:06.600 an unexpected visitor here you guys didn't meet her already last month this is my daughter aubrey
00:20:13.800 mandy and i have been extremely blessed to have this little girl in our life now for
00:20:18.760 a little bit over six weeks and you guys get her at a moment where she's not fussing
00:20:24.440 so just to savor that because it tends to be rare right now but um
00:20:29.880 yeah i'm sorry i distracted a little bit from the weird question but um but yeah weird has a lot to
00:20:40.840 do with the synchronicities that occur in your life and uh the opportunities that are put in
00:20:45.720 your path by choices that you make by the life that you live and by uh being an honorable or
00:20:51.320 a dishonorable person that way it looks look at all your fans look at all your fans
00:20:59.880 well as soon as she's big enough i'm going to be bringing her places around the country when
00:21:06.440 we go to events and do things and looking forward to showing her off to to all of you
00:21:14.680 um yeah i'm sorry that some of these questions aren't coming through a little bit better i do
00:21:20.680 appreciate mandy trying to trying to get them to me ah do we have any we have any other questions
00:21:27.720 tonight or anything that you guys want to want to discuss 0.91
00:21:49.160 all right well my daughter's gonna make her exit here 1.00
00:21:57.720 All right. So, Mandy, you said twenty five? Twenty four. All right. And so one thing that my wife, Mandy, does for the AFA is keep track of all of the AFA babies that come into the world.
00:22:16.720 And this year, so far, we've got 24 confirmed and then a couple of secret babies that folks aren't supposed to know about yet that are going to be joining our AFA family within the remainder of 2020.
00:22:34.200 So that's a pretty good number. I imagine that we'll find out about a few more that should be with us by the end of the year.
00:22:40.220 So we're growing, and that family and that increase is a big part of the immortality that I was speaking about earlier that we're focusing on.
00:22:51.820 It's been amazing to watch the past few years, just the baby boom within the Alistair Folk Assembly.
00:22:59.300 We got so, so many families now, so many babies, so many kids.
00:23:05.500 It's it's been a really special thing to see that develop and to be here at this time and to be part of that.
00:23:27.700 So.
00:23:30.860 What else do we got for questions, guys?
00:23:33.440 i know i'm not seeing everything but i am trying to catch them as they pop up mandy's trying to
00:23:38.800 catch them so if you have questions go ahead and throw them out there and you know now is
00:23:43.760 now is the chance um anything going on anything we're doing any i don't know whatever's on y'all's
00:23:52.400 mind um i also while i've got folks here i want to give a special special thanks to all of all of
00:24:09.680 the afa west members and volunteers that have been out at odin's off getting it all ready for
00:24:15.120 midsummer um we we do a pretty good job of keeping it up and and maintaining it as a as a nice place
00:24:22.480 and as a hof befitting our gods but it's special every year when we invite people from all across
00:24:28.000 the country to join us for midsummer we want to make sure it's really looking its best we've had
00:24:32.960 a lot of people out there putting in hard work and uh sweat equity making sure that place is ready
00:24:38.640 to receive all of our AFA family and ready to make sure that midsummer at Odin's Hoff is a
00:24:46.320 fantastic event as it always is and I appreciate all the effort they put in thank you guys so much
00:24:53.120 it really does make all the difference
00:24:57.920 Michigan where can you participate do we have folk there yes we have folk there
00:25:02.960 I would suggest that you reach out to James Ault, J-A-U-L-T, at runestone.org, and hopefully
00:25:15.520 Mandy will tag him in your comment, or he can see and hear us having this conversation.
00:25:22.060 But from Wisconsin, he can do a lot to help you get situated with the people in your area.
00:25:27.060 um we have a folk builder in ohio that could also help out uh ben tymeyer he may know some good
00:25:36.500 folks for you to get connected with it all depends on what part of the state you're in but we do have
00:25:41.540 members there and we have members close by so those gentlemen would be really happy to get you
00:25:47.060 get you connected with folks if that's something you're interested in gunner
00:25:50.180 recommended reading
00:25:57.380 all depends on the subject matter that you want to read or you know what you're what you're
00:26:10.220 interested in at the time.
00:26:19.740 One book that I was thinking about lately is make sure I don't butcher the title here.
00:26:38.380 The Bear History of a Fallen King. It's a book that Steve MacNallan recommended to me years ago. And I think it's really, really interesting. And it's kind of a topic that doesn't get discussed much about the sacredness and the imagery of the bear in European history before the advent of Christianity and how the symbol of the lion kind of overtook the situation of the bear as a as a regal image in Europe.
00:27:07.940 so i'd i'd recommend folks check that one out i thought it was a really interesting read it
00:27:12.660 covers subject matter that we don't usually talk about i think it's a good book and it kind of came
00:27:17.620 to mind because the animal head imagery um on thor's hof is two bears is the bear heads so i
00:27:27.940 wanted to think about that and uh yeah picked that up and gave it another look through a little while
00:27:33.140 ago was it was it was a good read and it's an interesting book and you can snag that on amazon
00:27:39.780 or wherever and that's what i'd recommend right now uh preston i think that 1984 is always a good
00:27:50.180 reading a good read it uh was a cautionary tale um i think now you can you can turn on the news and
00:27:59.140 see a lot of 1984 getting played out in in real time what else guys oh and i'm
00:28:25.300 culture of the Teutons is always something I recommend. I know a lot of you guys probably
00:28:32.080 have heard me recommend it over and over again, but I'm gonna, I'm gonna keep doing it because
00:28:36.820 I think it's, it's really essential to understanding concepts and values that were very important
00:28:44.500 to our ancestral house true culture. And that it's always a great challenge to figure out ways
00:28:51.460 to uphold those values in the changing world that we live in.
00:28:57.080 So Culture of the Teutons, I think, is a really important one I'd always recommend.
00:29:03.120 Something else I'd recommend is The Yoga of Power by Julius Evola.
00:29:08.320 A lot of people complain about that book.
00:29:10.340 It's not everybody's favorite.
00:29:12.180 I think the title is a little bit misleading.
00:29:14.500 It's not really about yoga, certainly not in the stretchy soccer mom sense.
00:29:21.460 But I think it's a really good book. And yeah, I'll go ahead and recommend that one today also.
00:29:32.620 What else is on y'all's mind tonight?
00:29:44.000 It's really strange the things that pop up and don't when I reload these things on my phone.
00:29:48.920 So I'll try to do that a little bit more often for those of you that are asking questions.
00:29:52.820 I'm not ducking you. If you need to ask them again, go ahead and I'll try to make sure I get to them.
00:30:02.420 So it's Andy. Good question about if there's associated groups with the Austro Folk Assembly in the United Kingdom.
00:30:12.040 Yes, we're building over there. We're building slow.
00:30:14.880 I don't want to lie to anybody and make you think we have some vast army of of British members, but we're building.
00:30:23.300 And for the first time, we have a folk builder in the United Kingdom.
00:30:28.140 Fiona Edgar is over there. She's doing great things.
00:30:32.040 She's building, though she is in the UK, she is over on the island of Ireland.
00:30:37.940 we have a couple of members who are in England and we have I think three members currently who
00:30:48.720 are in Ireland but she is building that she's building the area we have folks over there I
00:30:54.240 would really encourage you to reach out to her she would love to help and you know we really
00:30:59.200 want to build our membership over there quite a few of us myself included you know our closest
00:31:05.300 The closest link to to Europe are folks that came from the United Kingdom.
00:31:13.300 And we would absolutely love to see that grow and develop, and it is currently growing and developing.
00:31:24.300 throat's a little dry i promise it is not the rona never fear
00:31:37.500 james you are a very popular man tonight you got a lot of folks trying to reach out to you
00:31:41.980 i hope you're able to uh able to get to them and it's exciting because it looks like we may have
00:31:46.700 some some good potential members in your area certainly some folks that want to get involved
00:31:51.100 of the folks there. What else is on y'all's mind tonight?
00:32:01.100 night. Brian, yes, I recognize your name. I'm glad that you joined. I'm trying to think of some
00:32:27.100 Some good recommendations on daily practice outside of Steve's book.
00:32:45.240 Living Alcitru is something I'd recommend to look into.
00:32:48.860 I think that would get you a start on some of that.
00:32:52.480 And we're currently working on getting some better materials on that.
00:32:57.100 But I would I would look into that yeah, I think living also true would be my go to for a quick thing on that. I think something else I'd have you go to the AFA website www.roomstone.org and look at our library section. We have a lot of files on there about.
00:33:22.100 We have old rune stones, we have the voice which was our newsletter for a time, our current rune stones, and they kind of show you what a lot of folks do.
00:33:36.100 And some of it may seem kind of mundane, but that's true is not always about some big fanciful thing.
00:33:44.700 Very often it's about regular folks getting together around their kitchen table or around a campfire and talking about their families, raising a horn to our gods and to their ancestors.
00:33:56.600 I think you'll see a lot of that in those rune stones, and you can kind of learn where we came from and some of the things that that our folk in the AFA family have always done to practice how it's true in our daily lives.
00:34:08.300 and mckee good folks in texas um i would ask you to reach out to our folk builder michael foley
00:34:26.240 hopefully mandy can tag him in this on the side but he can help you he's fulfilling in that region
00:34:34.340 And he can get you set up. We do have quite a few members of Texas. A lot of the time they are spread out, but we've got some good things starting to take shape in the Texas area. So reach out to full will print a spoke builder Michael Foley and he'd be happy to help you on that.
00:34:54.340 Some extra extra excellent works in progress asks my good friend George.
00:35:05.140 Well, I don't, I'm always hesitant to talk about works in progress because I don't want to promise and not deliver.
00:35:14.540 I've been in a lot of situations in my life and in my journey through Alistair where people talk really big and talks cheap.
00:35:21.840 One of the things that I promised last year and an oath that I made at Midsummer was that by this next Midsummer, we would have a place to enter our dead, and we would have the second half.
00:35:37.840 And i'm proud to say we've laid out the locations we've laid out plots, and we have.
00:35:44.840 We have remains that we are entering at Odenshoff at this midsummer and Thorshoff as of the first of April is ours.
00:35:55.840 So i'm trying not to over promise on on big projects in the works.
00:36:01.840 Those are projects that have been in the works for some time.
00:36:04.840 the folks at odin's or at thor's hof getting it you know getting it all spruced up making it ours
00:36:12.200 building that transition laying the groundations with that holy space and then next month with uh
00:36:19.240 i'm going to fly out and do the do the dedication of that hof to thor and do a formal land taking
00:36:26.920 right and so i'm really excited about that i think that's a big thing that's in the works that's
00:36:31.480 working on. Got some other good things coming up, but I'm going to leave those for a little
00:36:41.200 bit of a surprise, hopefully. But we have a number of projects. One of the projects that
00:36:50.640 we're working on, a big focus, I've talked about immortality, and I'm going to brag a little bit
00:36:56.140 on folk builder apprentice folk builder brandy callahan in north dakota for a long time i have
00:37:04.860 been really wanting us to to take stock of our history to acknowledge our history
00:37:11.580 to celebrate our history and to write down our history and we've not been able to do
00:37:17.900 that well for a long time um but fortunately we have some of the right people to change some of
00:37:24.060 that brandy's been helping a lot so far with gathering our history with documenting and
00:37:31.980 chronicling the things that we're doing with establishing and working with uh hoff historians
00:37:39.420 at odin's hoff at thor's hoff and at subsequent hoffs to where we're going to write down we're
00:37:45.420 going to have some history to celebrate we also have some folks on the side that uh that brandy's
00:37:51.980 working with and these folks um are going to help us write a history of the austro folk assembly
00:38:01.500 and hopefully the austro free assembly so we're working on that project on the back end i don't
00:38:07.260 have a timetable for when that'll come out but as part of our 25th anniversary and our focus on
00:38:12.460 immortality it is essential that we get those stories written down and recorded and told so
00:38:18.460 So we're working on that behind the scenes, and I'm not sure how long that book's going to take to get done, but it will get done.
00:38:24.860 I promise you that. I will see that one through to the end one way or another.
00:38:35.360 Looking on it here for anything I may have missed.
00:38:40.340 Put the call out again if we have any questions or anything folks would like to like to make sure we talk about.
00:38:48.460 good advice from gothi blaine qualls you know we're gonna we're gonna praise the ice when it's
00:39:03.100 crossed we're gonna brag about things and celebrate them once they're done once they're
00:39:07.460 accomplished um but we do have some pretty big some pretty big things that we're working on on
00:39:13.240 back end do we need volunteers yes we always need volunteers trouble is linking up the right
00:39:20.040 volunteers with the right task if you want to volunteer in any capacity with the astro folk
00:39:26.360 assembly the first thing i would suggest would be to reach out to your local folk builder
00:39:33.080 they're going to do the best at knowing how to get you how to get you where you need to be
00:39:40.920 and how to get that help get us the right folks for the right jobs so reaching out to your local
00:39:47.160 folk builder would be the best thing to do the afa always needs help sometimes we need help on big
00:39:53.720 things oftentimes we need help on small things in your local area it could be something like
00:40:00.040 hosting an event or even bringing solo cups to a barbecue but on a bigger level we always need
00:40:07.480 tech people that can do tech things we need folks that can help us do um do do work with their hands
00:40:14.680 at the hof we need artists that can do great art we need writers we we are spread and we have people
00:40:24.760 in so many locations that no matter what your skill set chances are the afa would love to have
00:40:30.920 your help and we can find a spot where where you can do a lot of good for us so yeah please reach
00:40:36.200 out to your folk builder and folk builders if any of these folks want to uh to join our facebook
00:40:42.680 group for afa volunteers let's make sure all of our members that want to volunteer and want to
00:40:46.920 help can get on that group uh nate are there any plans on unique renovations for thorsof
00:41:05.000 such as how to spruce it up yes what exactly those plans are i want you to reach out to
00:41:13.320 gothe spawn harrell or to folk builder rob stam and daniel young those gentlemen do have plans
00:41:22.040 and and things that are in the works that they'd like to do to spruce that place up to make it
00:41:26.760 ours to make it special and uh and i know they've got a lot of ideas some of which we've all talked
00:41:34.440 about together some of which they've they've got kind of on their own that they may haven't
00:41:39.080 have talked to me yet about but i'm sure they would love to have any input that you might have
00:41:43.160 if you've got any cool ideas for them so yeah please do reach out to spawn rob or daniel
00:42:13.160 All right, so Hrafenolf asks if there's any wisdom I can impart on dealing with today's day and age.
00:42:38.800 Yes, and I don't mean for any of it to sound cheesy.
00:42:43.160 we live we know from our lore that we live in the wolf age i in the broader indo-european tradition
00:42:54.520 we live in the kali yuga we live in a time where there's a lot of chaos and for a lot of us that
00:43:01.800 you know don't feel like old timers the world today is not very recognizable uh to the world
00:43:07.480 that we knew growing up certainly not to the world of our grandparents much less so to the world of
00:43:12.440 our ancestors. But it is what it is. We gain ourselves nothing by pretending we live in a
00:43:21.640 different time or a different place or by wishing away things that are. Best thing we can do is deal
00:43:30.480 with things that are. We can set our jaw, get ready, and we can go through life and do the best
00:43:38.660 we can. There's honor in the struggle and how we show ourselves and the values that we teach our
00:43:46.740 children are going to set a lot of the playing field for the next generation. But there's something
00:43:52.480 else. All of us know that things in the big broad world out there aren't right. And we sit around
00:44:01.600 and we get upset about it or we get depressed about it or, you know, we pull out our hair not
00:44:07.880 knowing what to do. But there is something you can do, and there's something we can do.
00:44:12.860 Can we fix everything out there? No, probably not. Certainly not individually, certainly not
00:44:18.880 right this second. But we can always fix stuff in here. We can always fix stuff in ourselves,
00:44:27.200 our families, our kindreds, and in the Ausitru Folk Assembly.
00:44:35.560 You are part of a very special family in the AFA, and there's a lot we can do to build
00:44:41.800 each other.
00:44:42.800 There's a lot we can do to build Ausitru.
00:44:45.040 There's a lot we can do to build the Ausitru Folk Assembly into what we want, into what
00:44:49.220 we want our children to have, into what we want our grandchildren and their children
00:44:53.760 to have.
00:44:55.180 by focusing all that frustration that we have about all the things we don't like into building
00:45:00.880 something that we not only like, but that we love. That's what I recommend trying to
00:45:06.780 do to deal with the craziness in the world around us. It's not perfect. But I believe
00:45:12.760 it with all my heart. It's why I'm doing what I'm doing. And we're having great success
00:45:18.600 because so many of us are trying to build that future that I'm talking about. So that's
00:45:23.300 what I would recommend. On a practical level, something that this lockdown has taught me
00:45:29.760 is to stock up on the things that, things that I need and things that I want and take for granted.
00:45:36.660 I mean, I think there's a current within all of us to be self-reliant. That's one of our virtues.
00:45:43.780 We want to make sure that we're prepared. A lot of us aren't going to be huge preppers all the time,
00:45:50.800 But look at the things over the past few months that you may have gone without, that you may
00:45:54.600 have lamented, you wish you had more of, you wish you would have thought to have stocked
00:45:58.660 up on.
00:46:00.200 And you may run out again of something else, but don't run out of that.
00:46:04.540 You know now what you're going to miss, and you can at least have those things.
00:46:09.060 If it ever happens again, you'll miss other things, but at least you'll have these taken
00:46:13.020 care of.
00:46:14.080 I think that's a really good plan.
00:46:15.540 I think over time, if we can stock up, you know, for a few months or even a year on the necessities that we need, we'd all be in a better spot.
00:46:24.500 If when you go to Costco or when you go somewhere, you can, you know, always buy, you know, one extra than what you need and stock it away, then we can be in a pretty good spot to handle a lot of things that come our way.
00:46:36.700 But there's a lot of uncertainty out there.
00:46:38.500 We can't prepare for everything, but we can prepare for the things that we've experienced, the things that we see coming.
00:46:45.440 What else we can do is we can come together and build this that we have so strong with such solid foundations, with such great people doing great things.
00:46:58.240 That we'll have that security to weather the storm, that we can come together and rely on each other.
00:47:03.500 And I've seen that when people are struggling.
00:47:05.380 I see that with AFA's Folk Services Program.
00:47:07.640 When we have folks that are having hard times, we're now at a level because of y'all's generosity
00:47:13.440 and because of the growth of the AFA, where we can significantly help out our AFA family
00:47:18.700 when, you know, the turbulent times around us put them in a bad spot.
00:47:25.280 So that's kind of the wisdom I have on dealing with today's world the best we can. 0.95
00:47:37.640 Rob LaCroix is disgusting. I hope that your obsession with LaCroix is some kind of a joke 0.66
00:47:46.500 that maybe I don't get. It is funny, but it's disgusting and I'm sad that you waste money on 0.60
00:47:52.260 that stuff. Looking, trying to see if we have any last minute questions. I'm running tight
00:48:06.800 because I've got my Witten call here in about seven minutes, but I would be more than happy to
00:48:12.880 answer anything I find. If you guys have asked something and somehow it's gotten lost and
00:48:18.460 Facebook ate it, if I find it after this broadcast, I will go back. I will answer it. I will do my
00:48:25.020 best to do that to everybody who took the time to ask a question. In order for this to be
00:48:30.220 successful, it takes all you guys. It takes your interest. It takes your questions. I really
00:48:34.440 appreciate that um i really appreciate you guys coming and sharing this time with me and and
00:48:43.080 asking things i want you guys to continue doing that i love doing this every month uh la croix
00:48:49.080 tastes like tv static what i've heard is la croix tastes like water that's been in someone else's
00:48:54.920 mouth um yeah la croix is gross hmm i'm looking for any uh any last minute things here it has
00:49:06.120 been a pleasure to talk to you guys as always i'm sorry that there's always so much facebook
00:49:11.400 tech problems um i am not uh not the best at navigating those but i appreciate you guys
00:49:18.760 patience sticking with me i appreciate mandy's going through and trying to catch the stuff that
00:49:23.880 i miss and uh yeah appreciate you guys being here got exciting times ahead of us we've got a very
00:49:31.400 exciting summer we've got uh the 25th anniversary celebration coming up here very soon at odin's
00:49:39.880 hof we've got the dedication of our brand new thors hof in north carolina this is an amazing
00:49:46.520 time to be part of the austral folk assembly it's amazing time for also true it's an amazing time for
00:49:52.280 us. Whatever's going on out there in the world, don't let it keep you down. Redouble your courage,
00:49:58.320 redouble your strength, go out and live life, live big, do big things, do bold things. That's
00:50:04.940 what midsummer is all about. Celebrate life, celebrate all the great things we have around us
00:50:11.660 and really take that time to focus on building the immortality that we all want for ourselves,
00:50:21.140 for our families, for the Ask True Folk Assembly. Let's go out there. Let's go out there and make
00:50:29.420 things happen. All right, guys. Well, it's been a pleasure talking with y'all. I look forward to
00:50:34.300 talking to you guys again next month, if not sooner. I'm hoping I see you guys all out at
00:50:39.460 Odenshof. If not, or even if so, I hope I see you guys again at Thorshof in July.
00:50:45.900 You guys are fantastic. I am extremely, extremely proud to be part of this amazing AFA family, and I hope you guys have an amazing midsummer.
00:50:59.900 Hail the gods, hail the folk, hail the AFA.
