Asatru Folk Assembly - Recovering the Soul of Our People (2010)

00:00:00.000 Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! 0.97

00:00:30.000 This is Steve McNallan of the Asatru Folk Assembly,

00:00:37.640 bringing you the latest on the revival of the ancestral faith of Northern Europe

00:00:42.360 and the awakening of the European descended peoples everywhere.

00:00:47.320 The gods and goddesses never went away.

00:00:50.300 They are with us always, and now they stir, and we reclaim our spiritual birthright.

00:00:58.460 A glorious dawn awaits. Hail our awakening. Hail Asatru rising.

00:01:09.260 In this episode of our ongoing saga, I want to talk about souls getting lost.

00:01:16.420 How does a soul get lost and what happens when it does?

00:01:20.160 And most importantly of all, what does this have to do with you?

00:01:26.320 Let's begin by describing a scene from an ancient hall.

00:01:32.160 Packed into the smoky room, the people laughed and danced.

00:01:37.560 Horns of beer sloshed as the toe-headed men and women jostled each other in celebration.

00:01:44.700 The chief sat on his high seat in the position of honor,

00:01:48.340 but beside him was the simple peasant woman who had just been healed,

00:01:53.080 her face aglow with joy in the far light.

00:01:57.840 All present had seen the healer,

00:02:00.180 clad in his wolf skin inside the sacred circle,

00:02:03.880 when he traveled between the worlds

00:02:05.900 and fought the spirit that had stolen the woman's soul

00:02:09.860 and taken her to the door of death.

00:02:14.840 In tribal societies, 0.70

00:02:17.380 people's souls sometimes wander away or get stolen.

00:02:22.120 Affected individuals may lose appetite, become ill, and develop strange behaviors.

00:02:28.320 They become disoriented, unable to respond effectively to their environment.

00:02:33.440 If the condition continues, they die.

00:02:37.560 Today, we would consult a doctor or a psychiatrist,

00:02:41.020 but to the tribe's members, something much more interesting and more poetic has happened.

00:02:46.780 The person's soul is missing.

00:02:49.640 A shaman is tasked to produce the cure.

00:02:52.740 This spiritual specialist makes a dangerous journey to the other world

00:02:56.760 and attempts to retrieve the soul in question,

00:02:59.860 sometimes having to battle fierce demons in the process.

00:03:04.220 I believe that whole groups can experience soul loss just as individuals do.

00:03:12.120 Entire clans, tribes, and nations can lose their soul,

00:03:16.340 their very identity, thus collectively suffering torments like those of a sick individual.

00:03:23.620 When this happens, the group is cut off from the wellsprings of ancestral wisdom, power,

00:03:29.660 and abundance, and if contact with this holy source is not re-established, extinction follows

00:03:36.380 for the group, just as surely as death comes to the person suffering from individual soul loss.

00:03:42.320 European people have lost their soul. 0.86

00:03:47.620 I don't mean just the current inhabitants of Europe, 0.66

00:03:50.080 but all men and women of European descent everywhere in the world. 0.99

00:03:55.200 The malady is not one of geography, but rather of common blood, spirit, and culture. 1.00

00:04:01.400 And the results? They have been catastrophic.

00:04:04.760 For European people as a whole, for people of European heritage individually, 0.99

00:04:09.480 family, and for the other people who have to live on this planet with us.

00:04:15.700 The bad news is that each one of us Eurofolk has suffered a personal loss of connectedness,

00:04:21.320 pride and potency from this malady.

00:04:24.140 The good news is that we can each gain in happiness and prosperity by reconnecting with

00:04:29.700 the collective soul of our people.

00:04:32.920 Let's take a quick look at our situation.

00:04:35.820 Our folk are statistically rich in material goods, and we enjoy the highest standard of

00:04:40.760 living this planet has ever seen, but we are spiritually impoverished.

00:04:46.080 We seek to fill the inner vacuum by chasing the wisdom of other peoples, Buddhism, American

00:04:51.800 Indian belief, anything except our own ancestral spirituality. 0.95

00:04:58.320 Cut off from our heritage, from the holy powers, from each other, and from the world around 0.96

00:05:05.040 us, we flounder helplessly. 1.00

00:05:08.620 Eurofolk are the most stressed people on earth and the least happy. 1.00

00:05:13.820 For all our perceived power we are inwardly weak. 1.00

00:05:18.220 Luckily for us, our soul is only lost, not dead.

00:05:22.500 It cannot die unless we as a people become extinct.

00:05:26.200 We can reconnect with the life-giving springs of spirit.

00:05:30.260 We can touch the wisdom of our ancestors, and with it we can each have more

00:05:35.020 fulfilling, more successful, more wondrous lives. Just as the shaman journeys to the

00:05:42.400 other world to recover a lost soul, so each of us can make the spiritual

00:05:47.140 journey to retrieve the European soul. This is a journey of high adventure with

00:05:53.680 unlimited rewards for us and for our descendants. And best of all, we know the

00:06:00.820 way we must travel if we are to succeed in this all-important quest. Eurofolk

00:06:06.160 lost their soul because they turned away from the wisdom of our forefathers and 1.00

00:06:12.040 foremothers, sometimes by persuasion but more often by fire and sword in the

00:06:18.280 course of a thousand-year war waged from Rome to the Baltic as tribe after tribe

00:06:25.240 and nation after nation fell before a military, political, and economic onslaught

00:06:31.700 that sought to crush our heritage. It is likely that you personally had

00:06:38.560 ancestors who died trying to preserve our ancient ways. But times have changed.

00:06:46.800 We are more fortunate than those revered heroes of the past centuries. Soul loss

00:06:52.960 was often bloody and hate-filled, but soul recovery is a loving, peaceful

00:06:59.620 reclaiming of our spiritual birthright. To regain the soul of Eurofolk, we have

00:07:05.900 only to turn once again to the way of the ancestors. And once we make that 0.98

00:07:13.720 connection, there's a lot of good news. We find we do not need salvation. We find

00:07:20.020 the world is not a valley of tears, but a place of beauty and wonder. We are not slaves to a

00:07:26.460 tyrannical deity, but rather kin to the divine. The way of our ancestors is a way of hope,

00:07:33.220 offering freedom, power, and fulfillment. When we reconnect with our spiritual birthright,

00:07:40.240 we open ourselves to a cornucopia of gifts, a secure self-confidence, balance and grounding,

00:07:48.800 assertiveness, wisdom, increased personal power, material abundance,

00:07:53.540 the answers to the fundamental questions of human destiny and the nature of the universe.

00:08:00.540 It's time to gain a sense of our identity and get right with ourselves.

00:08:07.220 It's time to find the collective soul of our people and to restore it to our brothers and sisters,

00:08:13.660 for our sake and for the sake of all life on earth.

00:08:20.180 It is the role of the Asatru Folk Assembly to carry out this historic task.

00:08:34.380 This is Steve McNallan of the AFA saying bye for now and we'll be back next week.

00:08:43.660 We'll be right back.
