Courage is all around us in many guises. Courage is the man or woman who intervenes to drive off a mugger or a rapist, the mother cat who gives her life so her kittens might live, the scholar who goes to prison rather than renounce an unpopular political opinion, it is the internal power to get out of bed and face each morning when everything seems futile, hopeless, and painful. Courage means mastering our fears and doing our duty, regardless of the cost.
