00:01:02.040 to estimate a future stream of earnings. And so far, it's been going up only because the Fed's been
00:01:08.660 throwing money on the fire and the Congress has been throwing money on the fire. At some point,
00:01:14.300 that breaks because the inflation goes out of control. And let me give you some numbers here.
00:01:19.120 It's not just that yesterday was the producer price index, the wholesale prices going up 8%,
00:01:26.120 the highest in 11 years. It's not just today that we had a massive CPI number, consumer price index
00:01:33.340 here. And remember, inflation is the cruelest tax because high food prices eat up our wages, right?
00:01:40.520 In China, interestingly enough, they had a 13% hike in the producer price index,
00:01:46.820 which was the highest in 26 years. So what you and I do on this show is connect the global

00:03:34.000 treasury yields a spike, almost a parabolic spike, move higher to levels that we haven't seen in many,
00:03:42.600 many years. So I think that's indicative of a little bit of a liquidation feel. I think you could
00:03:47.100 take heart in that, but by no means does that mean this is the all clear, because ultimately,
00:03:52.760 the big question is going to be earnings. You know, John Spallon's on 2020. A bear market is a
00:03:58.120 20% decline from previous highs. Now, even some optimists are throwing in the towel. Goldman Sachs
00:04:03.720 today sharply cutting its outlook for the U.S. stock market because of these concerns about the Fed
00:04:10.140 and about high inflation. One of the worries here is that the Fed is moving so quickly, even though
00:04:16.460 it takes time. It takes months for the full impact of these interest rate hikes to be felt in the
00:04:22.460 economy. Bank of America put out this great report summing this up. They said the Fed is hiking at the
00:04:28.740 fastest pace in recent memory with maximum uncertainty on the macro outlook. To us, this seems like driving
00:04:36.000 at 75 miles per hour, but not knowing which way the road will turn. An accident seems inevitable.
