00:31:34.720 So obviously very similar language to what we heard from the Russian special military operation before they went into Ukraine.
00:31:40.920 But at the same time, the specific political goal stating we will prevent Hamas from returning to power.
00:31:49.400 Now, what's interesting, though, to parse out just from, as we're trying to get a read on the strategic objectives of this upcoming ground operation,
00:31:57.160 we're seeing, of course, from the strategic bombing, we can tell that they're looking to deny infrastructure.
00:32:01.580 They're looking to deny air defense.
00:32:03.840 They're specifically going for these types of targets right now, as well as military leadership and potentially political leadership.
00:32:10.400 However, they've also stated that they intend for the borders of Gaza to essentially remain the same as they are for now.
00:32:19.980 At least that was the latest out of the IDF as of last night from the IDF spokesman saying this.
00:32:24.920 So it'll be interesting to see whether or not Gaza remains in the political type of situation where they have it now,
00:32:31.580 where there is some direct political control and elections held by the Palestinians living there.
00:32:36.280 That being said, Steve, for the wider region, we've looked at whether or not this will spiral out of control.
00:32:42.820 And I think one of the biggest pieces that a lot of people are missing right now is that the Saudi government,
00:32:48.640 the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has cut off negotiations for the potential recognition of Israel as a legitimate state within the Middle East.
00:32:56.740 And people need to remember that Saudi Arabia has never recognized Israel since its creation in 1948,
00:33:02.420 since the restoration of the Israeli state.
00:33:05.720 And so after the Abraham Accords, there were several Gulf nations that recognized Israel for the first time.
00:33:13.260 People remember the first major Arab nation to recognize and sign a treaty with Israel was, of course, Egypt.
00:33:19.700 This led to the assassination of Sadat when he returned from the Camp David Accords back in 1978 under Jimmy Carter.
00:33:28.060 And so the recognition of the Saudis, of the state of Israel, would have been a major diplomatic coup,
00:33:35.240 not for the Biden administration, but this was started under the Trump administration.
00:33:39.600 Many people are now suggesting that these attacks, that partially some of the motivation for these attacks may have been to derail that process completely.
