00:03:21.940 in fact, the political right, and this is the combination of big-money donors like the Koch Network,
00:03:27.860 the Ulanes, et cetera, on the one hand, and then this MAGA base that you've described so well on the other.

00:03:36.480 They have come together to push for this constitutional convention.
00:03:40.140 They've been pushing it out to the states since 2013 through the American Legislative Exchange Council.

00:03:50.920 What's really frightening, though, over the last year or two is that they have realized that they will never get to 34, honestly.
00:03:59.100 So they have come up with a new map that they call aggregation.
00:04:03.720 They're going to take any authorization for a constitutional convention left on the books in America
00:04:09.100 and use that in order to insist that a new Congress call this convention.
00:04:14.480 And what is it that they want to do with it?

00:04:23.260 The leader of this effort, a man named Mark Meckler, formerly head of Tea Party Patriots,

00:04:30.480 has said that they seek to roll back 115 years of progressivism.

00:04:38.980 but the fact of the matter is they have been steadily doing this.

00:04:45.960 And if the Republicans manage to get hold of Congress,
00:04:48.940 and Mike Johnson is the Speaker of the House, he's a deep supporter.
00:04:52.020 He unites both those wings of the Republican Party,

00:04:57.960 And he will, I believe, and so does Common Cause and others who study this,

00:05:10.520 to undermine the fiscal basis of Social Security and Medicare,
