that that we've identified as well which is for example the precinct strategy is so important what

we've seen here is if you have strong precinct captains you can have an unbelievable grassroots

effort and we've done some of that in fairfax but we've got too many precinct captain positions empty

so we want to change that another thing that we've done because you talked about the catholic notion of

subsidiarity which is so important i started a group called catholics engaged for fairfax because we found

that so many people in the churches are not actually getting out and voting their values and one of the

things that we were able to do with that group was we had an incredible uh postcard writing campaign in

this last local election we sent out 19 000 handwritten postcards and we tested some different groups with

that and and one of the things that we found is with a target audience of likely conservatives catholics

but people who were not voting just with that touch point of a handwritten postcard we were able to

increase voter turnout by 50 percent so you know big part of our strategy going forward is going to be

how do we find and identify and connect with those voters who are unengaged because i think there are

lots of them here in fairfax county well uh i want to hold you through the break because i want to drill

down on some of these issues because as below so above ralph reed was on here the other day with

evangelicals and he's saying the same thing between evangelical christians and traditional catholics

he thinks there's a net eight million uh voters out there of people who are who are deeply religious

but are just not in the political process that if you had a touch point with them would actually get

out and vote it's not that they rejected they just live their life they're not part of it are you and

you found that you found a 15 increase in fairfax county just by doing simple outreach 50 percent

different groups that one was catholics who were likely conservatives who were not voting uh you know

we didn't get a 50 percent bump from every sector that we targeted so you know what this means this

don't realize this but 30 percent of the people in fairfax county were not born in this country

my mom and dad went up there spent a weekend and they came back and my mom just said no way

we're not you're not taking the promotion we're gonna stay in richmond even at the time this is

the late 60s fairfax northern virginia was starting to become different than virginia right there it was

just the seeds of it but she specifically said and we were gonna go to catholic school up there

she just goes i just don't like the environment there's something going on here it's just not i don't

want my kids raised up there that was in the late 60s today it's just not democrats we started this

whole process a couple of years ago about the school boards we started covering people in fairfax

because what was happening so radical what has happened to fairfax county because this is just

not your typical democrats there's something so radical about the social agenda there that's shocking

in the fact that this is one of the wealthiest counties in the united states you know as though seven

the ten richest counties seven of them surround the imperial capital of washington dc and a really

greater washington but what is it that has made uh the the democrats up there and others so radical

when it comes to things like the basic traditional family ma'am i i think you've got two things going on

i think one is that fairfax i believe it's been targeted because it is so prominent it is in such an

important location and i think the democrats and the radical left use it as a model for what can then

happen in other places so you've seen extraordinary money pour in here from soros and from others but i

think the other is the fact that you have so many of the swamp elites live here right and so you know

that they 100 skew left um and and that's what's been driving it but again you know i think they've been

allowed to dominate but i don't think that they reflect what is really here in the heart of
