00:00:00.000 is we put out cybersecurity advisories on a whole host of systems on the
00:00:05.480 signal on the signal app that was included in that advisory right what
00:00:09.500 we've done is we've put out an advisory on how to use the signal app and and
00:00:13.800 other encrypted applications because we do encourage our employees and their
00:00:17.400 families to use because there's risk to that out there there are okay general
00:00:22.200 Cruz DOD also issued a warning about vulnerabilities to the signal app
00:00:29.320 recently correct that's correct okay director Gabbard you were on this signal
00:00:35.620 text chain in question correct yes as was mr. Whitcoff the administration's lead
00:00:43.660 negotiator with the Russians correct yes and at the time mr. Whitcoff was
00:00:48.580 actually in Russia during this chat discussion was he not I was not aware of
00:00:53.860 that was he on his personal phone at the time I don't know well it's my
00:01:00.880 understanding that he was indeed in Russia director Gabbard you were also
00:01:04.540 traveling during this discussion correct yes and where were you I was traveling
00:01:11.320 through the Asia Pacific region I don't recall which country I was in at that
00:01:15.640 time you don't remember the country I'd have to go back and look at the
00:01:19.640 schedule director Gabbard I want to direct your attention again to the text
00:01:26.300 chain where it says just confirmed with CENTCOM we are a go for mission launch
00:01:35.120 does that indicate to you that there is about to be a military operation yes
00:01:40.760 director Gabbard earlier in this hearing we heard about the DOD's
00:01:46.340 classification standards I want to now turn my attention to your classification
00:01:51.160 standards you're the director of national intelligence the office of the
00:01:54.740 director of national intelligence classification guide says quote
00:01:58.900 information providing indication or advance warning that the US or its allies
00:02:03.320 are preparing for an attack in quote is to be classified as top secret are you
00:02:08.100 familiar with that yes
00:02:11.720 director Gabbard have the Houthis indicated an ability to shoot down
00:02:16.540 American aircraft yes they have in fact done so haven't they yes including
00:02:22.340 MQ-9 Reapers haven't they that's correct and that was one of the systems used in
00:02:26.360 the attack recently that's the subject of this discussion is it not correct
00:02:32.880 general Cruz are you familiar with this system I'm not wearing my glasses at the
00:02:39.300 moment but I'll help you out this is an SA-3 anti-aircraft system correct are you
00:02:45.000 familiar with this next system I am what is it
00:02:56.120 I'm gonna have to ask you it's an SA-6 I'm gonna guess that this is also an
00:03:03.060 advanced anti-aircraft system is it not it is it was used widely in the Balkans in
00:03:08.040 the 90s correct and the Houthis also have this system don't they they certainly
00:03:11.820 do and they've employed it against our aircraft have they not they have
00:03:16.560 attempted to correct I spent my life in service to this country I deployed three
00:03:24.720 times to combat in service to this nation I learned in that time in service
00:03:30.660 that responsibility is core to leadership you accept responsibility when
00:03:37.080 things go wrong you admit mistakes you set the standard from the very top it is
00:03:43.860 completely outrageous to me completely outrageous to me the administration
00:03:49.440 officials come before us today with impunity no acceptance of responsibility
00:03:56.540 excuse after excuse after excuse well we send our men and women down range to do
00:04:02.780 incredibly difficult incredibly dangerous things on our behalf and yet nobody is
00:04:09.020 willing to come to us and say this was wrong this was a breach of security and we
00:04:14.240 won't do it again it is outrageous and it is a leadership failure and that's why
00:04:18.800 Secretary Hegseth who undoubtedly transmitted classified sensitive
00:04:24.260 operational information via this chain must resign immediately there can be no
00:04:32.020 fixes there can be no Corrections until there is accountability and I'm calling on
00:04:37.220 the administration to move forward with accountability I yield back gentleman
00:04:43.400 yields gentleman from Texas mr. Mr. Crenshaw thank you Mr. Chairman thank you all for
00:04:49.760 being here good to see many of you again and thank you for thank you for enduring
00:04:56.120 too long days I will note I always use fire emojis when I see terrorists getting killed and I want to talk
00:05:03.800 about cartels this is a this is a subject that is near and dear to my heart but
00:05:09.320 investigating it thoroughly for the last couple of years and I'm glad to see that
00:05:13.940 it's mentioned in all of your opening statements I mentioned we're going to
00:05:18.620 shift back we're going to shift back to the dough sharing Crockett of Texas is up
00:05:23.360 let's hear her miss karger what about you I agree I think it's important for us to
00:05:29.960 report on the on the important news of the day so let's talk about the critical
00:05:34.680 role of public media during his first time President Trump's own Department of
00:05:38.360 Homeland Security highlighted the importance of public broadcastings role in
00:05:42.700 public safety in 2018 his administration stated quote PBS and local public
00:05:47.940 television stations play a crucial role in protecting communities by delivering
00:05:52.420 essential information to individuals and first responders these benefits are all
00:05:57.340 made possible by public broadcasting stations unique reach reliability and role
00:06:03.260 across America and are especially vital in rural and underserved areas madam
00:06:09.400 chairwoman I would ask unanimous consent I seek unanimous consent to enter into the
00:06:13.720 record the 28 without objection so ordered and madam chair I also seek
00:06:19.900 unanimous consent to enter into the record the 2019 report title modernizing the
00:06:23.980 nation's public alert and warning system from Trump's without objection so
00:06:27.520 ordered in the report FEMA encouraged quote the use of public broadcast
00:06:31.480 capabilities to expand alert warning and communication capabilities to fill gaps in
00:06:36.720 rural and underserved areas mr. Ohlman what's a more significant domestic threat
00:06:41.960 reporting the murder of George Floyd or dismantling most of America's emergency
00:06:46.140 communication systems can you please repeat the question for me congresswoman
00:06:50.960 which one is more of a threat reporting the murder of George Floyd or
00:06:55.800 dismantling most of America's emergency communication systems dismantling the
00:07:01.840 emergency systems and isn't it true that in a last borrow Alaska is the only I'm
00:07:08.860 sorry and isn't it true that KBRWAM in borough Alaska is the only broadcast
00:07:15.640 service available in an area of more than 90,000 square miles that is correct it's
00:07:20.920 also the north slope where the majority of all the oil production that comes from
00:07:25.660 Alaska is takes place thank you so much and isn't it true that without these
00:07:29.920 stations broadcast Americans in rural communities would lack access to
00:07:34.900 life-saving information and public safety alerts that is correct so in your
00:07:38.800 opinion would eliminating funding for stations in rural America like WNGH
00:07:43.420 Channel 18 and the chairwoman's district hurt Americans it would hurt
00:07:47.440 Americans yes in fact Georgia Public Broadcasting serves as the official
00:07:51.580 distributor of evacuation route information during state ordered
00:07:54.520 evacuations and the chairwoman is here advocating to strip their funding look the
00:07:58.600 doge agenda isn't about government efficiency it's about breeding corruption
00:08:02.260 at the expense of the safety of the American people particularly Americans
00:08:06.340 living in rural or remote parts of the country they don't care about public
00:08:09.920 safety they don't care about emergency management and they don't care about
00:08:13.720 free speech all of which are harming American people in fact I'm a skip off
00:08:17.800 real quick because they have tried to come for you miss mayor and I just want to
00:08:21.340 clarify you did not work for NPR when those statements were made did you that is
00:08:26.740 correct and to be clear free speech is not about whatever it is that y'all want
00:08:31.660 somebody to say and the idea that you want to shut down everybody that is not
00:08:36.160 Fox News is bullshit we need to stop playing because that's what y'all are
00:08:41.200 doing in here you don't want to hear the opinions in any of anybody else and the
00:08:45.880 Constitution says Congress shall make no law respecting or establishing of
00:08:51.940 religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof or abridging the gentlewoman's
00:08:56.380 time has expired the gentlewoman's time has expired
00:09:00.940 madam chairwoman okay put them into the record you may miss consent please without
00:09:05.740 objection so ordered thank you I'd like to put under this NPR article what
00:09:11.440 Biden preemptive pardons for family members could mean for presidential
00:09:14.320 powers without objection so ordered I now recognize the gentleman from Ohio Jim Jordan
00:09:20.800 for five minutes thank you madam chair miss Maher who is Uri Berliner mr
00:09:27.300 Berliner is a former senior editor that's all the former senior business
00:09:31.960 editor for NPR how long do you work at NPR I believe he was there just over 25
00:09:35.920 years 25 years award-winning journalist did he win any awards I were our time to
00:09:41.420 body award that's pretty important in it that is a pretty distinguished
00:09:44.740 journalist right certainly and I wrote he wrote a long story about what you do at
00:09:49.860 NPR is NPR biased uh congressman I have never seen any instance of never of
00:09:56.100 political bias determining editorial decisions no well miss Bert mr uh Berliner
00:10:02.120 in his story a couple last year wrote I've in the DC area editorial positions at NPR he
00:10:12.300 said he found 87 registered Democrats zero Republicans is that accurate we do not
00:10:18.900 track the numbers or the voter registration but I find that was award-winning
00:10:22.460 journalists who worked 25 years at NPR mr Berliner was he lying when he wrote that
00:10:27.500 I am not presuming such I just don't have we don't track that information about our
00:10:32.500 journalists 87 to zero and you're not biased I think that is concerning if those
00:10:37.040 numbers are accurate it's concern I mean it wasn't 44 43 wasn't 60 27 it wasn't 70 17 it
00:10:45.560 wasn't even 80 to 7 it was 87 Democrats zero Republicans and you say NPR is not biased
00:10:54.220 how about the big stories over the last few years according to mr Berliner again he wrote
00:10:59.200 on the Trump Russia story he wrote at NPR we hitched our wagon to Trump's most visible antagonist
00:11:07.420 representative Adam Schiff they said they interviewed him 25 times that accurate I was not there at the
00:11:12.660 time but those numbers sound accurate those sound accurate but then he said when the Mueller report
00:11:17.100 came out and they said Mueller said Robert Mueller said he found no evidence of collusion he said
00:11:21.740 Russiagate faded from our programming is that accurate again I was not there at the time I'm not I
00:11:27.540 couldn't say you couldn't say I was not at NPR at the time you didn't prepare for that you knew we
00:11:32.240 were going to ask you about this guy didn't you it's come up like 6,000 times already in the hearing
00:11:36.120 I just couldn't say whether it faded from our uh coverage sir how about this story October 2020
00:11:41.780 New York Post had the Hunter Biden laptop story and one of those editors I guess one of those 87
00:11:48.240 Democrat editors said this we don't want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories we
00:11:54.420 don't want to waste the listeners and readers times on stories that are just pure distractions was
00:11:59.100 that a pure distraction story our current editorial leadership believes that that was a mistake
00:12:03.940 as do I yeah the whole country knows that was a mistake definitely impacted the election or I
00:12:09.360 think it certainly impacted the election how about the COVID origin story that's pretty big story too
00:12:14.120 right Mr. Berliner said we became fervent members of the team natural origin even declaring that the lab
00:12:20.580 leak was debunked by scientists turns out though the lab leak is what most people think actually caused
00:12:25.680 the COVID virus sorry sir is there a question there there is you guys were oh for three on on the three
00:12:32.280 the three of the biggest stories in the last five years you guys were oh for three and yet you
00:12:36.740 maintain that NPR is not biased uh congressman I do not believe we are politically biased no we are
00:12:43.040 a non-partisan organization non-partisan organization what's happening to your listeners over the last five
00:12:48.140 years went up down or stayed the same uh it has gone up and down and is now going back up
00:12:53.260 well I I thought five years ago is that 60 million and you said in your opening statement I think 43
00:12:59.560 million that's correct so 43 million now and it was at 60 million five years ago I can do some math
00:13:05.240 that looks like it went down and is now going back up is now going back up yes it is how much
00:13:10.160 has it went back up it's gone up a couple of millions over the past oh so you you went from 60
00:13:14.880 million to 41 million now you're back up to 43 million uh in a year's time I'm very proud of that
00:13:20.480 growth sir okay you're proud of that that growth okay but over five years it's went down 18 million
00:13:24.320 that is correct sir okay uh should taxpayers subsidize NPR uh I believe that taxpayers
00:13:29.480 subsidize local stations sir that is the vast majority of what I thought you said you got 11
00:13:34.240 million from corporation of public broadcasting which is taxpayer funding directly to you right
00:13:38.940 that is to support the public and then local stations get it from the corporation of public
00:13:42.500 broadcasting that right they get tax 100 million that goes to the local 100 million goes to local
00:13:46.540 stations and then those local stations buy back programming content from you so
00:13:50.180 that money goes to local stations comes back to you gets routed through the local stations all
00:13:54.580 taxpayer money those fees are actually based on private donations rather than on federal funding
00:13:59.240 well we all know money is fungible so some of it gets put in there um certainly we could we could
00:14:04.120 agree that money is fungible what more money for less listeners you fired the guy who pointed all this
00:14:09.320 out who said that you were so biased to the left that you lost listeners which is exactly happening
00:14:13.980 and you're here maintaining that oh you need you need to continue to get taxpayer money I did not fire
00:14:18.520 mr berliner sir okay the guy that that left after all that understand understand are you are you
00:14:23.820 fundraising off today's hearing uh sir I believe that there was a message that went out earlier
00:14:30.020 today letting people know we were coming in yes yeah and at the bottom of the message it said
00:14:34.080 donate now right I don't recall the exact language show it to you right there it is donate now I mean
00:14:40.060 I'm not against fundraising we all do it I mean I get it but it's I assume this this this fundraising
00:14:46.080 is probably going to all the left listeners who are subsidized content by the taxpayers and that's
00:14:52.600 the gentleman's time is that's the rub I yield back I now recognize miss randall from washington for
00:14:59.180 five minutes thank you so much you know I um I'm new to uh congress this is my first term and I came
00:15:13.480 from a legislative body that um okay I'm bored already lady um get you got in these hearings you
00:15:22.280 got to get cut to the chase don't give me your backstory um we're gonna go back to intel in a
00:15:27.360 second I want to make sure we highlight something for the audience this audience was name checked
00:15:32.960 by the ranking member the ranking member remember it's always a senior member of the minority this be
00:15:38.900 the democrats congressman hymes of connecticut and he's a uh he's a he is a player in democratic
00:15:45.160 circles and particularly intel he name checked this audience uh at the beginning because they fear the
00:15:51.020 war and posse they understand the war and posse uh can put their shoulder to the wheel and make
00:15:55.640 things happen want to make sure you get the bill blaster app you get article three there's a lot going on
00:16:01.620 today one thing is very evident I'm gonna go back to the intelligence in a minute
00:16:05.060 that's very evident today they are targeting pete hegseth they are targeting the secretary of
00:16:12.340 defense the democrats have made a decision it's not waltz that's the target they want to go after
00:16:18.280 because they understand how hard it is to get confirmed they're going after pete hegseth
00:16:21.680 it's quite evident uh by cash flow's uh uh um questions by other questions are being asked by what
00:16:32.240 they're putting up on the charts of the uh of the uh text messages they're very much focused on pete
00:16:38.160 hegseth what he said and i think three of them are already called for either uh secretary of defense
00:16:43.520 hegseth uh resignation or to be uh fired the armed services committee of the senate which is chaired
00:16:51.320 by republicans is talking about wicker uh in his ranking member jack reed who was on the intelligence
00:16:58.460 yesterday jack reed is no friend of the administration uh they're talking about having
00:17:02.420 an investigation and here he's quote unquote bipartisan armed services is the uh is basically
00:17:08.980 the uh the main committee in dealing with the pentagon that's the uh committee of jurisdiction is
00:17:15.040 what's called in the congress committee of jurisdiction if he's investigating that the target right now i
00:17:21.420 believe is pete hegseth and as you remember the effort it took for us to get pete hegseth uh confirmed
00:17:27.500 let's go to the intelligence committee just heard pbs jim jordan laying a pbs that outrageous that
00:17:32.520 american taxpayers underwrite a marxist thing let's go to the intelligence back to the united states of
00:17:36.900 america and if not what should we be doing about it thank you for your question congressman um
00:17:45.380 i'm not fully aware and up to date on the specific example that you've mentioned and i i'll go and look
00:17:52.080 into that and happy get back to you further absolutely look forward to having the conversation with you
00:17:57.120 um broadly this is obviously a concern that any of these activities uh occurring near or around
00:18:06.100 any of our military sites uh creates that potential national security risk and the potential for
00:18:12.720 uh foreign intelligence collection i'm i'm hoping it's a it's a priority for everybody on the dais
00:18:19.660 there it is a priority i think for the american people certainly for me i want to move on in the
00:18:23.980 time remaining with a related topic which is the hundreds of incidents uh by predominantly chinese
00:18:30.920 students oftentimes called gate crashers so this includes the two gentlemen in uniform on the dais
00:18:37.240 uh i'm going to kind of point to three events that happened just last year one in grayling michigan
00:18:43.100 which five chinese students are charged for lying and concealing evidence one in the university of
00:18:48.700 minnesota uh where a drone flew over newport news and took pictures of classified information regarding
00:18:55.100 ships and and uh classified systems and then one at the university of florida regarding the illicit
00:19:03.420 acquisition and shipment of toxins biomedical drugs and research supplies to china in these cases or most of
00:19:10.720 these cases we we encounter these people and then we release these people as a matter of fact in the
00:19:18.320 case of florida apparently she found out that criminal charges were being prepared and she dropped out of
00:19:24.400 school and her whereabouts remain unknown at this point um what should be our posture because we're we're
00:19:31.660 trying to follow up after the fact we're encountering these people whether they're gate crashers or whether we
00:19:36.640 catch them conducting this illicit activity we try and prosecute that takes a lot of man hours as you
00:19:43.020 know director patel is this the best policy or is there something better that we can do i mean the
00:19:48.140 immigration national act nationality act of 1952 gives the secretary of state the authority to revoke visas
00:19:54.820 but should these people be allowed to come to this country in the first place is the question and what
00:20:01.260 should our posture be anybody
00:20:02.940 in terms of the visa issue i know that the administration is working on a policy but to
00:20:12.060 directly answer your question anybody who utilizes the student visa program to come to this country
00:20:17.660 to conduct criminal activity should never be allowed in this country and anyone that's doing it here in
00:20:23.080 the united states of america from an fbi standpoint will be vigorously investigated and will use the
00:20:27.900 expulsion or criminal process on them i yield mr chairman gentlemen yields miss plaskett
00:20:32.720 thank you very much mr chairman and good morning to the witnesses
00:20:37.020 um you know first let me say that
00:20:40.280 we do have to in this committee try as much as possible
00:20:44.820 to remain
00:20:46.020 non-partisan
00:20:47.860 as opposed to bipartisan
00:20:49.700 i can recall being that way when i was counsel on the house ethics committee and it's a really hard
00:20:54.920 it's a hard position to take
00:20:57.000 um but i'm really struck by the fact that in december of 2023
00:21:01.460 many people made secretary lloyd austin
00:21:05.560 go through the stages of the cross
00:21:08.060 in self-flagellation
00:21:10.340 and mea culpa's
00:21:12.020 for not informing the president that he was having a surgery
00:21:15.980 and now how we're treating secretary hedge path
00:21:19.620 as if he is untouchable
00:21:21.480 mike waltz when he was a member of congress
00:21:25.800 went in the committee on armed services to talk about and slammed austin for holding himself
00:21:31.620 to a different standard than the american people
00:21:34.040 and yet we are not doing this across the board
00:21:38.140 and that's that's disappointing
00:21:40.320 at at the very least very disappointing
00:21:43.460 um director gabber thank you for your testimony
00:21:47.160 and one of the things that i believe i heard you say
00:21:50.500 was that when there was a discussion by doge
00:21:53.980 as to the cuts to foreign aid
00:21:56.700 that there had not been a request for
00:21:59.620 um a national for an intelligence and national security
00:22:03.720 or an intelligence assessment of the impact of those cuts
00:22:07.580 is that was that your testimony a little earlier
00:22:09.480 uh congresswoman i have not seen
00:22:13.360 any kind of assess actual official assessment
00:22:16.620 either within the intelligence community or outside of it
00:22:20.180 on what the effects of those uh cuts to us aid programs has been
00:22:24.940 but it was not requested by doge of you
00:22:28.080 or of any of the areas in which you have oversight over
00:22:31.380 i'm not aware of any requests
00:22:32.780 okay great thank you
00:22:33.860 um i know that there has been some open source reporting
00:22:36.660 on what the effect of those cuts are
00:22:39.040 i mean when we think about several examples
00:22:41.880 kenya our strongest regional ally in the horn of africa
00:22:45.700 um and a key partner with us in the fight against terrorist group al-shabaab
00:22:50.360 and you know according to the washington post
00:22:53.300 that's not definitive and we can talk about this in closed session
00:22:56.840 some kenyan journalists are now being trained by beijing
00:23:00.200 mirroring the u.s programs that have been cut by the administration
00:23:04.160 um director gabber is letting china train kenyan journalists
00:23:08.240 going to make kenya more or less receptive to american requests
00:23:12.080 of the kenyan government do you believe
00:23:14.180 as you said congresswoman our relationship with kenya
00:23:20.780 has been very long-standing uh in
00:23:23.640 so do cuts of ours to train journalists in kenya make them more or less
00:23:28.780 and beijing having that more the more or less
00:23:31.580 clearly there is strategic competition taking place i'll withhold
00:23:35.300 uh my personal view uh to look at an official i was asking for your
00:23:39.500 director view not your personal view and then
00:23:42.940 additionally we have ended voice of america which provided accurate unbiased
00:23:48.200 news in our opinion meanwhile a saint petersburg university
00:23:52.840 has announced that it's open 11 russian language centers across africa
00:23:57.440 that pay special attention to the promotion of traditional russian spiritual and moral values
00:24:03.580 director gabber is russia a friend or a foe
00:24:06.840 is are they our friend or our adversary
00:24:10.300 they are an adversary thank you this i believe that this reckless cuts
00:24:15.840 make terrorism and our influence in africa
00:24:19.800 which is on the front lines of terrorism a real threat to us
00:24:24.140 and we need to be careful of it um director patel one of the benefits of being here
00:24:29.500 kind of in the middle is i get to hear other people's testimony
00:24:32.560 um and the questions that are asked i know that uh mr carson asked you questions
00:24:38.620 specifically about the counterterrorism division
00:24:41.740 and we know that there has been some open source reporting that says that
00:24:46.300 individuals within that division have been removed
00:24:49.140 or been moved not necessarily fired but moved um do you know if that is correct
00:24:54.660 i don't have any personal information on that but people within the ctd component which is a large
00:25:00.760 component the fbi move all the time um and have they been moved is are you able to get that
00:25:06.320 information to us whether they have or have not been moved i'll go back to my team and see who has
00:25:10.880 been moved if you have a particular interest um we'll share with you of course we have an interest
00:25:15.040 in counterterrorism division and movement of individuals within that um because one of the
00:25:21.340 other things i'm concerned about is you have stated i believe in other areas that the disbandment of
00:25:28.920 certain sections of the fbi related to intel and breaking up components can you explain to us how
00:25:35.840 you intend to do that or what you would like to do and why my intention is to reprioritize
00:25:42.780 counterintelligence authorities and cyber capabilities to focus on violent crime and
00:25:48.080 national security and that's what i'm doing the gentleman's time has expired thank you the
00:25:53.480 gentleman from missouri madam ambassador uh miss wagner i uh thank you mr chairman i thank
00:25:59.340 all of you for being here and for your continued service to our country let's go back to let's go
00:26:06.120 back to the uh pbs uh we got a minute we got tim birchett let's hear birchett
00:26:10.440 to uh the gentleman from california mr kana for five minutes thank you madam chair and thank you
00:26:17.240 for allowing me to wave on to the committee mr uh gonzalez i read with interest your testimony it was
00:26:24.040 so angry so i thought i'd try to lighten things up a little bit uh who are three of your favorite
00:26:31.880 characters on daniel tiger or what episodes do you are your favorites um representing kana thank you very
00:26:39.740 much for uh the opportunity to lighten up um i again i think i'm taking a time machine here
00:26:46.700 sesame street went to daniel tiger do you have some favorite characters all the owls
00:26:52.800 bro kana our favorite democrat populist though trying to lighten up we're not looking to lighten
00:26:57.680 up today uh let's go back to this i tell you what we've got to take a break we are going to take a
00:27:01.800 break here um right there you just saw it once again that's the non uh voting member from the
00:27:08.820 virgin islands very smart she's on msnbc a lot she does not actually get a vote on the committee
00:27:14.340 she so she's a non-voting uh member of congress from the virgin islands even she's thrown in with
00:27:21.060 she is a democrat but she's throwing in you see the targeting of pete hexeth let this be a lesson for
00:27:27.560 the rest of the day pete hexeth by the way has put out a both uh pete and a waltz have both put out
00:27:34.860 uh tweets and uh they're hunkering down no war plans no classified information no locations no
00:27:42.880 names of everything we'll put them up after we come back from a break want to thank real america's
00:27:46.740 voice for our coverage this morning virtually commercial free for two hours we wanted you to
00:27:52.100 get a full flavor of particularly house intel as they come in for a kill shot on uh on director
00:27:59.700 ratcliffe of the cia and tulsi gabbard uh dni uh they're trying to take this uh situation of this
00:28:06.840 reporter goldberg who released this right before the committee started as you can tell this whole
00:28:12.760 thing's a setup honestly i think it would have been smart to just cancel these hearings and say
00:28:17.200 we're going to have them in 30 days the threats are the major threats are not going to go away the
00:28:21.020 report uh to take some of the steam off of this uh it's a setup an ambush complete total ambush
00:28:27.400 total ambush and you've seen it live for the last two days so you see it with your
00:28:31.240 own eyes and you see how the democrats come in the white house is hunkered down waltz is hunkered down
00:28:37.960 pete hexeth who's in the pacific talking to the indo-pacific command is hunkered down we're gonna
00:28:43.220 take a short commercial break we'll return in the war room in just a moment

00:33:09.340 and i as i said earlier i was not involved with that part that portion uh of the chat so it did not
00:33:16.220 come to my recollection yesterday thank you um so i take that as you stand by your uh do not recall yesterday
00:33:23.440 um stance when it was at you're asked those questions you've been in office 43 days um radcliffe uh
00:33:32.480 director radcliffe has been in office 62 days this was considered the first major military operation
00:33:39.400 using lethal force of the trump administration was this the first uh this was probably the first time
00:33:45.900 that you've been involved with a discussion like this on a thread it was not discussing you were not on a
00:33:52.980 group chat discussing where we're going to go for lunch you're discussing putting men and women of the
00:34:01.280 armed services and harms away that's a major decision so and when did that happen 10 days ago
00:34:08.780 okay okay i'll answer that it happened 10 days ago here's the point like something of this
00:34:17.100 magnitude it's something that you would not forget it's something that most people if you're taking
00:34:24.460 this job so seriously that you would not forget i mean since i've been on this committee there's been
00:34:33.120 days that i have woken up in the middle of the night from the things i've learned in skiff
00:34:37.940 so deciding to use military force is something hard to imagine so the do not recall
00:34:45.820 doesn't pass the smell test it makes it makes it it's unbelievable that was the case so that's
00:34:53.920 what the american people don't understand and i know a lot of folks in this administration were
00:35:00.020 saying that they're going to take on the establishment and drain the swamp but you have become that
00:35:04.420 swamp in a matter of days not weeks or months days so one of the things we're going to look into
00:35:11.880 is if what actually occurred because the american people deserve a full accounting additionally the
00:35:21.180 main person who was involved in this thread that a lot of people want to talk to is uh secretary of
00:35:26.400 defense hegseth and a lot of questions were brought up regarding his his uh drinking habits and his
00:35:33.940 confirmation hearing to your knowledge do you know whether pete hegseth had been drinking
00:35:39.000 before he leaked classified information i don't have any knowledge of secretary hegseth's personal
00:35:46.340 habits uh director radcliffe same question yes or no you know uh no i'm going to answer that i think
00:35:57.480 that's an offensive line of questioning the answer is no i i find it interesting that you want to no i
00:36:02.900 no i'm going to answer you you asked me a question you want an answer no listen you don't want to focus
00:36:07.640 on the good work that the cia is doing that the intelligence community director i reclaim my time
00:36:13.280 director i reclaim my time here i have huge respect for the cia huge respect for our men and women in
00:36:21.280 uniform but this was a question that's on the top of minds of every american right he stood in front of
00:36:29.140 a podium in uh europe holding a drink so of course we want to know if his uh performance is compromised
00:36:38.000 if you or people were asking if the uh general austin was compromised because of a heart issue
00:36:45.980 was his performance compromised because of a successful strike mr i bring my um you want to
00:36:52.600 know you want to talk about accepting responsibility do you think i reclaim my time responsibility for a
00:36:58.000 successful strike to make americans safer i want to focus on i reclaim my time so here's the thing
00:37:05.140 this is serious as somebody we've been briefed in this committee about using signal one of the
00:37:12.020 things they basically said the most secure phone call the least secure text messaging and we know
00:37:19.620 that your people are russians chinese are on your phone his time's expired gentleman from virginia mr
00:37:26.740 klein thank you mr chairman i'm going to give the director the ability to respond without being
00:37:32.700 interrupted by his question i appreciate that congressman i i guess um you know just a general
00:37:39.880 reflection here again that um for the last two days members of the intelligence community have been
00:37:46.940 asking questions uh about a signal messaging group um and uh not asking questions from democrats either in
00:37:58.100 the senate or the house on china russia iran and the real threats uh that are going on to the united
00:38:05.660 states and you can say that you care about the good work that agencies are doing like the cia and that
00:38:11.380 you care about 140 stars on the wall but no one's asked me about my second day on the job here where i lit the
00:38:18.660 that led to uh a foreign government participating with us to capture one of the senior planners of the abbey
00:38:30.580 gate bombing that killed 13 americans and in the process we worked with a government that previously
00:38:36.180 hadn't so it that hadn't cooperated with us on counterterrorism matters or the fact no one has focused
00:38:44.100 on that within an hour of that taking place i was on the phone with director patel and a few hours later
00:38:50.100 with uh attorney general bondi working together the ic and the fbi working together um to bring this
00:38:58.340 person home in less than a week unprecedented success for the intelligence community and the law
00:39:04.660 enforcement community exactly representative of the kind of work that we should be doing and the kind of
00:39:10.580 work that an oversight committee should be asking about but instead we're getting questions about
00:39:16.420 whether or not someone has drinking habits uh and you know i i just wish in an annual threats hearing
00:39:22.980 where the american people want to hear about threats that that's what we would be talking about thanks for
00:39:28.020 the opportunity to clarify absolutely director i want to thank you and all the people who work with
00:39:33.380 you and all the witnesses and the men and women the brave men and women who are putting their lives
00:39:39.940 on the line each and every day for this country and uh to the military let me have it because we're
00:39:44.740 going to run out of time here that's ben klein that we had on the on tv uh on the show yesterday to
00:39:49.620 highlight this right there uh that is congressman jimmy gonzalez previously from um he's from chinatown
00:39:56.260 and boil heights as folks in la know that's the uh kind of i guess i'm not inner city la but the the
00:40:03.380 famous uh boil heights and chinatown uh jimmy gonzalez and i told you they're targeting pete
00:40:09.540 hexes what congressman gonzalez asked had pete hexes been drinking while he was on that text
00:40:15.620 chamber which means that pete hexes was drinking on the job because that was during a strike
00:40:19.780 and you saw finally with ratcliffe and i really appreciate the director of the cia finally had enough
00:40:24.820 that hit ratcliffe's tripwire after two days he fired back hard uh i think the administration
00:40:32.020 should understand this afternoon i don't think mike waltz is the target it's clearly pete hexes this
00:40:36.580 audience doesn't need to be reminded of the effort this audience put in on that fixed band it's fixed
00:40:43.540 ban that's thursday when uh everybody had to get up on it to save pete hexes nomination when they were
00:40:49.700 trying to run pete hexes out of town for these allegations that came from i don't know
00:40:54.660 various women about drinking and other issues pete hexes has done a terrific job so far as secretary
00:41:00.980 of defense he's at in the indo-pacific command right now gave an amazing talk yesterday to
00:41:06.580 everybody get him motivated about the threat of the chinese communist party as captain finnell
00:41:11.460 tells us and he's correct keep the main thing the main thing and pete hexes is doing this okay
00:41:18.180 we're going to turn over to charlie kirk show now on real america's voice charlie is going to pick up
00:41:23.860 with his coverage we're going to be back at five to seven we've got a lot more that you didn't hear
00:41:28.820 in the pbs they're trying to defund npr and pbs outrageous responses i think from pbs's management
00:41:35.300 today trying to essentially just kick the can down the road we'll get more of that also much more coming
00:41:40.660 out of intel pete hexes just put up a tweet he's hunkering down mike waltz put up a tweet he's hunkering
00:41:47.300 down the going to the mattresses on this are just not going to sit there and be punching bags for these
00:41:52.660 radical democrats the courts are also involved we told you that's going to happen so so much going
