Summary

Vaccinations have been around for 80 years, but there are still questions about their safety and effectiveness. Is there any reason to believe that they make people sick? And if so, why hasn t the question been addressed in the 80 years since they've been around?

Transcript

00:00:00.000 And a lot of what we've heard from Bobby Kennedy Jr. just amplified now because of the position he
00:00:05.620 finds himself in, all this skepticism about vaccines now, packing that panel at Health
00:00:11.200 and Human Services with vaccine skeptics. Can you just address, let's just take these basic
00:00:17.000 vaccines that kids have been taking for generations to go to school. Are there
00:00:22.680 questions around them? Do they make people sick? Have they been making children sick? Is there
00:00:27.860 reason for concern? And if so, why hasn't that been addressed in the, I don't know, 80 years since
00:00:33.380 they've been around? I mean, Willie, you're signaling it. No, the answer is no. There's no
00:00:39.600 scientific evidence that any of the childhood vaccinations, let's take tetanus, measles,
00:00:45.360 mumps, and rubella, polio vaccine. I mean, these are just fundamental foundational things that no
00:00:51.260 other country in the entire world, by the way, is having a similar type of discussion at the
00:00:55.900 governmental level. We are because of the people that are currently in power, but there is no reason
00:01:00.800 why the other countries across the globe are having a similar discussion because the science
00:01:06.220 doesn't bag it. There's no incidents of increased side effects. There's no links to autism. This is
00:01:11.720 one man with his agenda and the power to really enact his agenda. That's RFK Jr. I'll lastly say here
00:01:18.820 just on this topic of why this matters to American families across the spectrum, because Florida
00:01:24.060 is likely just the canary in the coal mine there. We're probably going to see this in more states
00:01:29.140 across the country. Just like we saw here on the West Coast that they're banding together to create
00:01:33.300 their own coalition to counter the CDC. We're going to see this likely happen in more places.
00:01:40.280 For everybody out there, something that has happened since 2008, Willie, is that pediatric beds across
00:01:46.120 the country have declined. 20% decrease in pediatric bed capacity in children's hospitals across the
00:01:51.800 country. Why does that matter? Just at the time that Lodapo and DeSantis are doing this in Florida,
00:01:56.880 creating more burden of illness for kids, there's less beds to actually deal with the aftermath.
00:02:01.580 And we saw in West Texas, when you have a measles epidemic, that lands kids in the hospital
00:02:06.500 that need supplemental oxygen, likely in an ICU. We have less of those beds, Willie.
00:02:11.360 It's crazy. Yeah, look, I mean, I mean, first of all, when when when ideology starts intruding on public
00:02:18.060 health, you're going in a dangerous direction because science comes under attack. But the Florida
00:02:22.720 Surgeon General just said, I mean, if vaccines are slavery, then polio is freedom, apparently.
00:02:28.200 And you get in that kind of an Orwellian death spiral and kids are going to get sick and people
00:02:32.780 will die. And you wonder what will get our attention, except then you remember that we had
00:02:36.980 1.1 million Americans died during COVID. And still that disinformation got in the groundwater.
00:02:42.760 So I want to hear from people like, you know, Senator Cassidy, who's a doctor who was skeptical
00:02:47.480 of RFK's claims and ultimately went along with it and empowered this kind of dismantling of the CDC
00:02:53.520 that I'm sure he's agonizing about in private. But will he have the courage to say it in public?
00:02:58.600 Because this is a dismantling of, you know, this repudiation of Operation Warp Speed,
00:03:03.700 which was one of the great accomplishments of Donald Trump's first term. But what's happening
00:03:08.120 right now at the CDC and in health and human services and in some of these states will hurt
00:03:13.700 Americans. Kids will get sick. People will die. This is what happens when ideology starts intruding
00:03:19.280 on science and public health. The first reported case of COVID-19 in the U.S. Focus has now turned
00:03:25.120 to vaccines as companies race to develop them and government leaders work to distribute them.
00:03:30.220 Is it safe? It's safe. Breaking news in the fight against coronavirus. Pfizer and BioNTech
00:03:37.740 have announced this morning that its COVID-19 vaccine is safe and generates a robust immune
00:03:44.540 response in a clinical trial of children ages 5 to 11. And all three options are safe as well as
00:03:53.040 effective. You know, the FDA is the gold standard for the safety and effectiveness of these vaccines.
00:03:59.340 And I think this is a very powerful signal in the safety and effectiveness.
00:04:03.440 The good news is that the vaccines that we have today have proven to be both safe and effective.
00:04:10.100 Announcing today its potential COVID vaccine is 94.5 percent effective.
00:04:15.280 The vaccines are safe. Please, for yourself, your family, your community, this country,
00:04:22.740 take the vaccine when it's your turn and available.
00:04:26.740 The preliminary findings from an NIH study indicating that getting a booster different
00:04:32.140 from your original vaccination is likely safe and effective.
00:04:35.840 Resulted in a vaccine that is safe and highly effective.
00:04:39.460 If you get vaccinated, you are protected.
00:04:41.740 But I can tell you that the overwhelming evidence of data that we have now indicates that the
00:04:50.160 vaccines, as we all know, are highly effective and really very, very safe.
00:04:56.600 The challenges of distributing a safe and effective vaccine once one is identified.
00:05:02.140 That vaccine is, in fact, safe and effective.
00:05:06.180 The vaccines are safe. I promise you, they are safe and effective.
00:05:11.500 And COVID-19 vaccines are effective.
00:05:13.420 The combination is safe and effective.
00:05:15.780 And I was really happy that we have a safe and effective COVID vaccine.
00:05:20.880 And I was really proud of them today that they got their vaccine.
00:05:23.860 It was a huge sigh of relief for mom.
00:05:25.680 This appears to be a set of vaccines which is just incredibly safe and effective.
00:05:31.140 That the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective.
00:05:34.800 Incredibly effective, up to 80% effective in preventing symptomatic cases of COVID-19 in
00:05:41.100 children between the ages of six months and five years old.
00:05:44.200 We know that these vaccines are highly effective.
00:05:47.900 They are as safe in the short term as any other vaccine that's already approved.
00:05:53.060 Tens of thousands who have put themselves on the line to prove to the country and the
00:05:58.460 world that these are safe and effective products.
00:06:02.020 The bottom line is, this looks effective, it looks safe, and hopefully when enough people
00:06:08.820 get vaccinated, ultimately, this will end this epidemic in the U.S. and hopefully the
00:06:14.600 pandemic around the world.
00:06:16.060 In a 17 to 4 vote with one abstention, they concluded that the Pfizer vaccine is safe and
00:06:22.040 effective for emergency use for those 16 and older.
00:06:25.360 The fact that we know now that these vaccines are highly, highly effective.
00:06:31.780 Safe and effective is how the FDA described Johnson & Johnson's one-dose vaccine.
00:06:37.000 We are delighted that the vaccine has close to 95% efficacy.
00:06:41.440 Pfizer says its COVID vaccine is safe and works at a lower dose for children 5 to 11 years old.
00:06:47.500 Anyone past got some breaking news.
00:06:49.380 FDA announcing Johnson & Johnson's vaccine is safe and effective, bringing it one step
00:06:54.140 closer to emergency use authorization.
00:06:57.340 Very important, not only for your own health, but for the health of the country.
00:07:01.440 And we can do it.
00:07:02.440 We have a great vaccines, more than one, free, and they're safe and they're highly effective.
00:07:08.420 It is Thursday, 4th of September, the year of our Lord, 2025.
00:07:15.180 We are going to jump in right now and go live to the hearing.
00:07:19.200 The Star Chamber has met on Bobby Kennedy.
00:07:22.140 Let's go live and we'll come back to the show in a few minutes.
00:07:25.400 Now the department has a renewed focus on tackling the root causes of chronic disease
00:07:30.000 and promoting prevention first.
00:07:33.220 I look forward to exploring ways that the federal government can further align payment incentives
00:07:38.140 to support healthy living and fight chronic disease.
00:07:42.980 The administration has also prioritized efforts to end waste fraud and abuse in our federal
00:07:48.700 health care programs, including through eligibility and enrollment verification.
00:07:54.860 This critical work is not just about saving taxpayer dollars.
00:07:59.540 It's about restoring trust and ensuring vital programs like Medicare and Medicaid are sustainable
00:08:05.440 for generations to come.
00:08:08.140 In July, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, CMS, announced that the agency identified
00:08:15.560 2.8 million Americans who were simultaneously enrolled in multiple Medicaid or Affordable Care
00:08:23.380 Act exchange plans.
00:08:24.860 Stopping this duplicate enrollment while working with states to ensure that individuals do not
00:08:32.120 inappropriately lose coverage has the potential to save taxpayers $14 billion.
00:08:37.080 Remember, overall, we're going to dip in and out of this.
00:08:39.380 This is going to be an inquisition of Bobby Kennedy.
00:08:42.860 The Democrats all night long have been plotting and planning.
00:08:45.400 They want to remove Kennedy.
00:08:47.100 They look at Senator Cassidy from Louisiana as the weak link here.
00:08:52.600 So we're going to find out.
00:08:53.440 We're cut in and out.
00:08:54.360 I'm sure we'll probably show more Democratic senators than Republican.
00:08:58.360 And we're going to try to get to as many of Bobby Kennedy's answers as possible.
00:09:02.720 So just let me know when it's passed, particularly to a Democrat, Mr. Producer, so we can go back
00:09:07.680 and hear the vitriol.
00:09:09.480 We're going to try to take commercial breaks.
00:09:11.000 We may not be able to.
00:09:12.040 If we can't, we'll just go right through and break the commercials like we did yesterday.
00:09:15.700 I wanted to make sure one of the key things we wanted yesterday, which I think is very important,
00:09:20.940 because Fox almost showed none of it.
00:09:22.780 I thought it was quite important from the very first to the very end that you saw all the Epstein victims
00:09:29.480 and Ro Khanna and what Tom Massey's trying to do or trying to do with the discharge petition.
00:09:35.160 I don't believe they picked up any votes yesterday.
00:09:38.120 Viva Frye has had some interesting comments and observations on this yesterday.
00:09:45.380 And I've asked Viva to join us probably in the second or third block.
00:09:48.380 Here's what we're going to do on the show today.
00:09:49.660 We're going to go in and out of Bobby Kennedy's hearing because it's vitally important for Make America Healthy Again.
00:09:55.940 And Bobby Kennedy, we believe, is doing a terrific job.
00:09:59.120 Now, I would like to see more aggressive, leaning into it, calm strategy over there to get more information out.
00:10:05.800 If we had that, I think, quite frankly, the Star Chamber element of this could have been avoided today.
00:10:11.020 But be that as it may, Bobby Kennedy, I'm sure, will be putting forward the best evidence today.
00:10:16.580 And remember, 3,500 of you worked under the guidance of what Amy Kelly and Naomi Wolf over Daily Cloud
00:10:23.900 to come up with the Pfizer papers, which were extraordinary and were elemental in moving this discussion forward.
00:10:33.920 Of course, what we have is that Bobby has cut off all current research and, I believe, all future research in the gene therapies.
00:10:43.200 Let's go back.
00:10:44.580 We're going to go to Wyden.
00:10:45.380 We're going to get some of the nasty ones right out of the box.
00:10:47.480 Let's go ahead and listen in.
00:10:48.640 Most of the senior leadership at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were fired or they resigned after refusing to bow to Robert Kennedy's unceasing crusade against vaccines.
00:11:03.860 I traveled across Oregon last month and the message was the same from one end of the state to the other.
00:11:11.020 Families are confused.
00:11:12.600 They're scared about who to trust about their health care.
00:11:16.240 Robert Kennedy and Donald Trump have done so much to feed that mistrust.
00:11:23.580 This morning, my staff in partnership with Senator Alsobrook's team is releasing a report that shows the disaster of Robert Kennedy's 203 days in office.
00:11:33.460 Every single day there's been an action that endangers the health and wellness of American families.
00:11:41.220 Robert Kennedy has elevated conspiracy theorists, crackpots, and grifters to make life or death decisions about the health care of the American people.
00:11:51.900 Robert Kennedy's tenure is so far marked by three calling cards.
00:11:57.860 One is chaos at federal health agencies leaving families, doctors, and the entire nation confused and frightened.
00:12:05.140 Corruption that benefits Robert Kennedy, Donald Trump, and their friends at the expense of taxpayers.
00:12:11.560 And higher health costs for families.
00:12:14.200 I ask unanimous consent, Ms. Chairman, to enter this report into the record.
00:12:17.460 Without objection.
00:12:18.880 Then there's chaos.
00:12:20.100 It's been obvious from the start that Robert Kennedy's primary interest is to take vaccines away from Americans.
00:12:28.700 During his confirmation process, he claimed to be pro-safety and pro-science,
00:12:33.300 but his actions reveal a steadfast commitment to elevating junk science and fringe conspiracies.
00:12:40.060 His agenda has not been about choices and information for families.
00:12:43.760 Just last week, he threatened doctors that deviated from the new anti-science vaccine guidelines
00:12:49.480 he released that make it harder for pregnant women and children to get the COVID vaccine.
00:12:56.300 And then there's corruption.
00:12:58.160 Robert Kennedy's bizarre statements and actions beg the question, why?
00:13:01.620 Democrats on this committee answered that question months ago.
00:13:05.640 Robert Kennedy can enrich himself and his allies.
00:13:09.000 His family still stands to gain from class action lawsuits against vaccine makers.
00:13:14.880 Now, Robert Kennedy fired every member, every single one of the group responsible for making vaccine recommendations
00:13:21.800 to doctors across the country under the false pretense of conflicts of interest.
00:13:28.060 Meanwhile, many of the new members of the panel are outright vaccine deniers
00:13:32.140 who have appeared as paid witnesses in lawsuits against vaccine makers.
00:13:36.740 Their conflicts of interest and ethics disclosures remain hidden under lock and key.
00:13:42.880 On top of all this bedlam in American health care, just two months ago,
00:13:47.380 Donald Trump signed into law the largest health care cuts in American history
00:13:52.400 to pay for tax breaks for the wealthiest people and massive corporations in our country.
00:13:59.020 Republicans know these cuts are going to hit communities like a wrecking ball.
00:14:02.840 That's why they pushed the most severe cuts until after the election.
00:14:08.280 That's why their members already introduced bills to roll back some of the cuts.
00:14:13.200 Make no mistake, though, those cuts are being felt right now.
00:14:16.060 We're seeing hospitals in Idaho cutting payments, hospitals and nursing homes.
00:14:21.320 Providence Seaside Hospital in Oregon announced they're shutting down their labor and delivery unit.
00:14:26.980 Every family is going to feel the burden of Trumpcare in America.
00:14:32.660 Premiums are going to spike next year, especially for those who buy health insurance on their own,
00:14:36.620 but the effects will be felt by those who get insurance also through an employer.
00:14:41.620 Congress has an opportunity to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits
00:14:46.000 that lower the cost of premiums.
00:14:48.200 Democrats are ready to pass an extension that stops a dramatic premium spike
00:14:52.820 that would force many families to pay double what they do today.
00:14:56.580 Instead of finding ways to help American families pay less for health care,
00:15:01.020 Robert Kennedy is focused on his anti-vaccine mission,
00:15:04.820 fueled by some kind of complex that the consequences be damned.
00:15:09.300 Amid this litany of corruption and chaos,
00:15:14.460 the one point I have to underline is Robert Kennedy puts children in harm's way
00:15:18.680 every single day in America.
00:15:21.960 To my Republican colleagues, I must ask,
00:15:24.800 what line must Robert Kennedy cross before some of you
00:15:28.640 will also join this alarm?
00:15:31.800 This weekend, under the cover of darkness, Robert Kennedy attempted to disappear.
00:15:35.300 Hundreds of children under his care at Office of Refugee Resettlement Facilities.
00:15:40.460 These children here without parents or family were rounded up in the middle of the night
00:15:44.580 and put on planes to Guatemala.
00:15:46.960 Lawyers on the ground described unthinkable scenes.
00:15:50.120 Our staff, some who are here today, were partying to this in the middle of the night
00:15:56.440 and one child said to their lawyer,
00:15:58.860 why do they want to send me back?
00:16:00.700 My mom is dead and my dad abuses me.
00:16:03.860 Why do they want to hurt me?
00:16:05.780 This was an actual conversation.
00:16:08.120 These actions were illegal.
00:16:09.360 Documents show that many of these children were in the country
00:16:11.620 to escape trafficking in their homeland.
00:16:15.920 Mr. Kennedy calls himself a protector of children.
00:16:19.160 Some kind of rich claim,
00:16:20.620 claiming from somebody who's flown on Jeffrey Epstein's private jet
00:16:24.480 on multiple occasions.
00:16:27.260 I don't think Robert Kennedy should be within a million miles of this job.
00:16:31.700 Republicans on the committee had a chance
00:16:33.380 to prevent the public health train wreck
00:16:35.140 that Mr. Kennedy has engineered.
00:16:37.380 Everyone voted for him.
00:16:40.420 It is in the country's best interest
00:16:42.400 that Robert Kennedy stepped down
00:16:44.340 and if he doesn't, Donald Trump should fire him
00:16:47.260 before more people are hurt
00:16:48.560 by his reckless disregard for science and the truth.
00:16:51.620 I also would like to note Senator Cantwell has joined us in this effort.
00:16:56.400 I hope at the very least,
00:16:58.600 Robert Kennedy has the decency to tell the truth this morning.
00:17:02.240 Mr. President, excuse me, Mr. Chairman,
00:17:04.980 I have a procedural request I'd like to make at this time.
00:17:08.320 It's a short one.
00:17:11.040 Proceed.
00:17:11.820 Thank you, Mr. Chairman.
00:17:12.940 Mr. Chairman, it's unfortunate that I have to say this,
00:17:17.560 but this is a witness who has lied
00:17:19.860 to members of the Senate Finance Committee.
00:17:22.820 In response to over 35 written questions,
00:17:25.060 including from me, he said, and I quote,
00:17:26.960 that he would do nothing as HHS secretary
00:17:31.340 that makes it difficult
00:17:33.000 or discourages people from taking vaccines.
00:17:36.920 That was clearly not true.
00:17:40.380 His unprecedented unilateral actions
00:17:42.360 to restrict access to COVID vaccines,
00:17:44.640 that alone proves it.
00:17:46.560 He tried to fire the Senate-approved CDC director
00:17:49.320 after she chose the truth
00:17:50.820 over what I consider his delusions.
00:17:54.860 His prepared testimony even today
00:17:56.740 includes the debunked lie
00:17:58.340 that half a million children disappeared
00:18:00.000 under the Biden administration's watch,
00:18:02.280 a lie that the Trump administration is using
00:18:04.280 as a pretext to hunt immigrant children
00:18:06.500 and their families.
00:18:08.060 So, my request, Mr. Chairman,
00:18:11.880 and I think it is unfortunate
00:18:13.840 that I have to do this,
00:18:15.660 but given the unprecedented nature
00:18:17.160 of the witness's behavior,
00:18:18.260 I would ask now that the committee
00:18:20.860 formally swear in Robert Kennedy as a witness.
00:18:26.320 Senator Wyden, I will personally object
00:18:28.240 and will reject your request.
00:18:30.280 We will treat this witness
00:18:31.500 as we treat all of the other administration witnesses
00:18:34.360 who come before us.
00:18:36.380 And let me just say again,
00:18:38.040 as I said in my opening remarks,
00:18:39.660 we will have some partisan disagreements today.
00:18:42.800 We're having partisan disagreements right now,
00:18:45.100 and I am having partisan disagreements
00:18:47.160 with you on your characterization of the facts.
00:18:49.740 The bottom line is we will let the secretary
00:18:52.300 make his own case in his opening statement.
00:18:55.260 I'll only say, you know, Mr. Chairman,
00:18:57.760 that this committee's unwillingness
00:19:01.440 to swear this witness
00:19:03.320 is basically a message
00:19:05.660 that it is acceptable
00:19:07.600 to lie to the Senate Finance Committee
00:19:10.140 about hugely important questions like vaccines.
00:19:13.180 I think that's a great mistake,
00:19:15.140 and that's why I've made the request.
00:19:16.480 I understand that you're not going to grant it,
00:19:18.980 and we can move on.
00:19:20.360 We'll get to the bottom of your accusations,
00:19:22.780 but at this point,
00:19:23.780 I'm going to turn to our witness,
00:19:26.500 the secretary of health and human services,
00:19:28.760 Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
00:19:31.120 and Mr. Kennedy,
00:19:32.800 Mr. Secretary,
00:19:33.660 you may make your opening statement at this time.
00:19:36.720 Thank you, Chairman Crapo,
00:19:37.980 and thank you, Ranking Member Wyden.
00:19:41.980 The invitation would be here before the committee today.
00:19:45.400 Before I summarize what we've accomplished this year at HHS,
00:19:48.660 I want to express my deepest condolence
00:19:51.220 to the family of DeKalb County Police Officer David Rose,
00:19:55.880 who gave his life to stop the gunfire attack
00:19:58.400 on the CDC on August 8th.
00:20:01.700 Officer Rose was a veteran.
00:20:03.940 He was a husband and the father of two children.
00:20:07.960 Officer Rose's widow, whom I visited,
00:20:11.000 is expecting their third child.
00:20:13.640 I'd like Officer Rose's family
00:20:15.560 to know that he remains in our prayers
00:20:18.500 and that he will continue to be in our thoughts.
00:20:22.420 Let me start with the big picture.
00:20:24.300 Under President Trump's leadership,
00:20:26.400 we at HHS are enacting a once-in-a-generation shift
00:20:29.820 from a sick care system to a true health care system
00:20:33.440 that tackles the root causes of chronic disease.
00:20:37.540 Chronic diseases reach crisis proportions in our country.
00:20:40.720 And finally, we have an administration
00:20:42.420 that is taking action.
00:20:45.080 The Maha Report assessment,
00:20:47.300 which the White House released in May,
00:20:49.300 was the first government analysis
00:20:51.000 of the key drivers of childhood chronic disease,
00:20:55.260 ultra-processed foods, chemical exposures,
00:20:58.300 physical inactivity, and over-medicalization.
00:21:02.260 This month, we will follow with the Maha Report strategy,
00:21:05.900 the Trump administration's solution
00:21:07.680 for addressing each cause.
00:21:10.480 At HHS, we haven't just been writing reports.
00:21:13.780 We have been the busiest, most proactive administration
00:21:18.920 in HHS history.
00:21:21.700 In just half a year, we've taken on food dyes,
00:21:25.260 baby formula contamination,
00:21:27.440 the grass loophole,
00:21:29.040 fluoride in our drinking water,
00:21:31.520 gas station heroin,
00:21:33.300 electronic cigarettes,
00:21:34.700 drug prices,
00:21:35.800 prior authorization,
00:21:37.400 information blocking.
00:21:38.800 It takes over three months
00:21:44.520 to get a part of part of authorization.
00:21:47.620 Senator Kennedy,
00:21:49.500 do you know something
00:21:50.280 The committee will come to order.
00:21:51.580 The committee will come to order.
00:21:51.640 Between those three authorizations,
00:21:53.960 you're failing,
00:21:54.940 failing.
00:21:56.220 Okay, this is going to be interrupted,
00:22:01.320 we know, today, with protesters,
00:22:02.980 so just stand by.
00:22:03.780 Like I said, this is the Star Chamber.
00:22:05.440 We're going to return to it right now.
00:22:06.620 ...in the audience.
00:22:08.120 Comments from the audience are inappropriate.
00:22:11.900 If there are any further disruptions,
00:22:14.560 the committee will recess
00:22:15.520 until the police can restore order.
00:22:18.140 Mr. Secretary, please proceed.
00:22:20.460 As I was saying,
00:22:21.560 prior authorization,
00:22:23.140 information blocking,
00:22:25.560 and healthcare interoperability,
00:22:27.980 we're ending gain-of-function research,
00:22:30.760 child mutilation,
00:22:31.740 and reducing animal testing.
00:22:34.580 We are addressing cell phone use in schools,
00:22:38.360 excessive screen time for youth,
00:22:40.900 the lack of nutrition education
00:22:42.640 in our medical schools,
00:22:44.860 sickle cell anemia,
00:22:46.500 hepatitis C,
00:22:47.560 the East Palestine chemical spill,
00:22:49.960 and many, many others.
00:22:51.800 At FDA, we are now on track
00:22:54.560 to approve more drugs this year
00:22:57.220 than at any time in history.
00:22:58.900 I'm also proud to say
00:23:01.160 that HHS under President Trump
00:23:03.160 is doing more with less.
00:23:05.480 We have taken measures
00:23:06.600 to fight waste, fraud, and abuse.
00:23:09.200 Just by eliminating
00:23:10.380 duplicative enrollments in CMS,
00:23:13.380 we are saving taxpayers
00:23:15.100 $14 billion a year.
00:23:17.840 Meanwhile, we are expanding access
00:23:19.720 for people who need it.
00:23:21.480 We are ending races,
00:23:23.740 diversity, equity,
00:23:24.620 and inclusion practices,
00:23:25.900 and instead focusing
00:23:27.540 on aiding low-income
00:23:29.480 and vulnerable families
00:23:30.860 regardless of their race,
00:23:34.240 which was the original intent
00:23:36.300 of Title X.
00:23:38.120 We're also pouring
00:23:39.020 a billion dollars
00:23:39.920 into Head Start
00:23:40.800 and the administration
00:23:41.900 for children and families.
00:23:44.280 Compassion need not be
00:23:45.720 the casualty of efficiency.
00:23:48.240 I'd like to highlight
00:23:49.180 some issues
00:23:49.980 that have not gotten
00:23:51.000 media attention.
00:23:52.560 First, we are doing our part
00:23:54.400 to fulfill the president's commitment
00:23:56.480 to stop human trafficking,
00:23:58.640 especially of children.
00:24:00.600 We inherited a terrible
00:24:02.180 humanitarian crisis
00:24:03.420 from the previous administration
00:24:05.040 with its open border policies,
00:24:07.440 which allowed the appalling loss
00:24:09.900 of 476,000 unaccompanied children.
00:24:14.460 We have implemented policies now
00:24:16.620 to ensure that that appalling tragedy
00:24:18.820 can never happen again.
00:24:20.040 We have knocked on 82,000 doors
00:24:24.040 and located 22,000 of those children.
00:24:28.020 I promise you
00:24:29.100 that we will do more
00:24:30.180 in the next three years.
00:24:32.440 We are also addressing
00:24:33.520 the disastrous health conditions
00:24:35.240 in tribal communities
00:24:36.720 on Native American reservations.
00:24:39.640 I've met face-to-face
00:24:41.180 with tribal leaders
00:24:42.680 in dozens of communities
00:24:44.660 and tribes in Alaska,
00:24:46.380 Arizona, Idaho,
00:24:48.180 New Mexico,
00:24:48.680 and elsewhere.
00:24:50.260 And I look forward
00:24:51.420 to making HHS resources
00:24:53.100 more available
00:24:53.840 to those communities.
00:24:55.840 One of the most significant
00:24:57.680 initiatives under President Trump
00:24:59.640 is the Rural Health Transformation Fund,
00:25:02.860 part of the president's
00:25:03.800 big, beautiful bill,
00:25:04.980 which will provide
00:25:05.860 the greatest investment
00:25:07.220 of federal money
00:25:08.020 into rural health care
00:25:09.140 in history.
00:25:10.820 Finally,
00:25:11.500 I would like to address
00:25:12.460 the recent shake-up,
00:25:13.680 said CDC.
00:25:14.300 These changes
00:25:16.080 were absolutely necessary adjustments
00:25:18.520 to restore the agency
00:25:20.040 to its role
00:25:21.120 as the world's gold standard
00:25:23.580 public health agency
00:25:25.640 with the central mission
00:25:27.020 of protecting Americans
00:25:28.120 from infectious disease.
00:25:31.680 CDC failed that responsibility
00:25:33.640 miserably during COVID
00:25:35.740 when its disastrous
00:25:37.400 and nonsensical policies
00:25:39.000 destroyed small businesses,
00:25:40.620 violated civil liberties,
00:25:42.100 closed our schools,
00:25:43.380 caused generational damage
00:25:45.900 in doing so,
00:25:47.320 masked infants
00:25:48.460 with no science,
00:25:50.220 and heightened economic inequality.
00:25:52.940 And yet all those oppressive
00:25:54.320 and unscientific interventions
00:25:56.240 failed to do anything
00:25:58.480 about the disease itself.
00:26:00.680 America is home
00:26:01.780 to 4.2%
00:26:02.980 of the world's population,
00:26:05.020 yet we had nearly 20%
00:26:07.180 of the COVID deaths.
00:26:08.720 We literally did worse
00:26:10.400 than any country
00:26:11.880 in the world.
00:26:13.180 And the people
00:26:14.200 at CDC
00:26:15.060 who oversaw that process,
00:26:17.620 who put masks
00:26:18.540 on our children,
00:26:19.400 who closed our schools,
00:26:21.580 are the people
00:26:22.340 who will be leaving.
00:26:24.080 And that's why
00:26:24.720 we need bold,
00:26:25.860 competent,
00:26:26.560 and creative new leadership
00:26:27.800 at CDC.
00:26:29.240 People able
00:26:30.340 and willing
00:26:30.780 to chart
00:26:31.360 a new course.
00:26:33.120 As my father once said,
00:26:34.620 progress is a nice word,
00:26:36.040 a change
00:26:37.480 is its motivator.
00:26:38.720 And change
00:26:39.420 has its enemies.
00:26:41.460 That's why
00:26:42.100 we need new blood
00:26:42.960 at CDC.
00:26:43.900 That's also why
00:26:44.760 it's imperative
00:26:45.460 that we remove
00:26:46.940 officials
00:26:47.420 with conflicts
00:26:48.160 of interest
00:26:48.780 and catastrophically
00:26:50.160 bad judgment
00:26:51.060 and political agendas.
00:26:53.340 We need
00:26:54.140 unbiased,
00:26:55.380 politics-free,
00:26:57.020 transparent,
00:26:58.080 evident-based science
00:26:59.400 in the public interest.
00:27:01.420 Those are the guiding principles
00:27:02.880 behind the changes
00:27:03.820 at the CDC,
00:27:04.500 and that is what
00:27:05.480 you can expect
00:27:06.360 all across our agency
00:27:08.840 for the next three years.
00:27:16.520 Thank you very much,
00:27:17.540 Mr. Secretary.
00:27:18.340 I'll begin
00:27:18.740 with the questioning.
00:27:20.080 And one of the first things
00:27:21.560 I'd like to talk to you about
00:27:22.620 is actually something
00:27:23.440 that is under the auspices
00:27:25.560 of CMS.
00:27:26.560 And I spoke with Dr. Oz
00:27:28.080 last night about this.
00:27:29.180 I'm sure you're very familiar
00:27:30.240 with it, though.
00:27:31.480 And that is that
00:27:32.420 in the
00:27:33.020 One Big Beautiful Bill,
00:27:35.880 there's a lot of attacks
00:27:37.560 right now going on publicly
00:27:39.040 about hospitals
00:27:39.980 are in trouble.
00:27:41.200 And the blame for that
00:27:42.300 is placed on the bill,
00:27:44.100 even though the bill
00:27:44.740 hasn't even been
00:27:45.360 implemented yet.
00:27:47.660 The fact is,
00:27:48.680 this committee
00:27:49.360 held hearings
00:27:50.920 on the troubles
00:27:52.040 that rural hospitals
00:27:53.540 are facing
00:27:54.420 in the United States
00:27:55.660 before the passage
00:27:57.060 of the One Big Beautiful Bill.
00:27:58.600 They've been facing difficulties
00:28:00.260 in rural America
00:28:01.280 for a number of years now.
00:28:04.000 And the bill,
00:28:05.960 the One Big Beautiful Bill,
00:28:07.420 contained a rural health
00:28:09.020 transformation program,
00:28:10.520 which I would just like
00:28:11.500 to ask you to comment on.
00:28:13.160 This is a program
00:28:14.060 which allocated
00:28:15.420 $50 billion
00:28:16.740 over the next five years
00:28:18.820 to our rural community hospitals
00:28:21.420 in the United States
00:28:22.940 to help them deal
00:28:24.300 with some of the financial crises
00:28:25.780 that they are facing
00:28:26.660 and transition
00:28:27.340 to more stability.
00:28:29.360 Could you comment
00:28:30.120 on that program
00:28:31.540 that is in
00:28:32.300 the One Big Beautiful Bill?
00:28:33.620 Yes, Senator.
00:28:34.700 One of President Trump's
00:28:37.240 campaign promises
00:28:38.620 and one of the principal
00:28:40.120 preoccupations
00:28:40.980 not only of Republican senators
00:28:42.600 when I did my
00:28:43.640 confirmation hearing,
00:28:45.600 but also almost equally
00:28:47.140 among Democratic senators
00:28:48.420 with a crisis in rural health.
00:28:50.740 We've had 120 rural hospitals
00:28:52.620 close over the past 10 years.
00:28:54.420 These institutions
00:28:55.540 are not just delivering
00:28:58.180 health access
00:28:59.140 to rural Americans,
00:29:00.780 but they are economic senators.
00:29:02.480 They are cultural senators
00:29:03.500 for those communities.
00:29:05.380 They are often
00:29:06.440 the largest employer.
00:29:08.260 They are the highest paying jobs
00:29:14.820 and they are the centerpiece
00:29:16.860 for those communities.
00:29:17.760 So when they die,
00:29:18.500 the communities collapse.
00:29:19.800 And President Trump promised
00:29:20.900 to do something about that.
00:29:22.700 And he has delivered
00:29:23.940 on that promise.
00:29:26.340 Right now,
00:29:27.400 we spend about 6%
00:29:28.880 of Medicaid funding
00:29:30.680 is sent to rural hospitals.
00:29:32.340 A very, very tiny slice.
00:29:34.180 And that's one of the reasons
00:29:35.100 they're in trouble.
00:29:36.740 President Trump
00:29:37.600 has now allocated
00:29:38.660 through the One Big Beautiful Bill
00:29:40.180 $50 billion,
00:29:41.560 so $10 billion a year
00:29:43.200 over the next five years.
00:29:45.340 What we give to rural hospitals,
00:29:46.940 that 6% represents
00:29:48.480 $19 billion a year.
00:29:49.940 So we're increasing that
00:29:52.160 by $10 billion.
00:29:53.520 So we're infusing
00:29:56.000 more than 50% increase
00:29:58.540 in the amount of money
00:29:59.800 that is going to rural communities
00:30:01.380 over the next five years.
00:30:02.800 There's never been anything
00:30:03.760 like that in history.
00:30:05.060 It is the biggest investment
00:30:06.660 and it should stem this hemorrhage.
00:30:09.640 Well, thank you.
00:30:10.440 And I appreciate
00:30:10.880 your giving clarity to that
00:30:12.560 because it is frustrating
00:30:15.480 to see these continuous allegations
00:30:17.980 that the difficulties
00:30:19.140 that our rural hospitals
00:30:20.560 are facing
00:30:21.120 all were created
00:30:22.360 in the last few months
00:30:23.420 when we passed a bill.
00:30:24.660 When we've been holding hearings
00:30:26.300 in this committee
00:30:27.200 about these problems
00:30:29.120 and in the bill
00:30:30.380 that we passed,
00:30:31.260 we gave a $50 billion boost
00:30:33.820 to, as you indicated,
00:30:35.420 increase by 50%
00:30:37.000 the federal support
00:30:38.320 for our community rural hospitals
00:30:40.380 in the United States.
00:30:42.360 And I think
00:30:44.020 that the hospital owners
00:30:45.240 understand that.
00:30:46.420 They recognize this support.
00:30:48.220 In fact,
00:30:48.600 they are coming very,
00:30:50.440 they're coming together
00:30:51.420 very carefully
00:30:52.700 with Dr. Oz
00:30:53.920 to work on the rollout
00:30:55.060 of this program
00:30:55.820 so that we can see
00:30:57.000 this boost
00:30:57.620 and this support
00:30:58.340 that is coming.
00:30:59.580 Just another one
00:31:00.520 of the disagreements
00:31:01.480 we have
00:31:02.140 about what really was
00:31:03.700 in the one big,
00:31:05.280 beautiful bill.
00:31:06.240 So I appreciate
00:31:07.160 you commenting on that.
00:31:08.220 In the last minute
00:31:10.440 and 10 seconds
00:31:11.280 that I have with you,
00:31:12.920 could you just quickly
00:31:14.140 talk once again
00:31:15.040 about the broad issue
00:31:16.360 of making America
00:31:17.780 healthy again
00:31:18.500 in terms of our aim
00:31:19.580 to change
00:31:20.200 the healthcare system's focus
00:31:21.880 from a reactive
00:31:23.160 symptom management model
00:31:24.680 to one that focuses
00:31:25.960 on lifestyle choices
00:31:27.240 and the root causes
00:31:28.360 of chronic disease?
00:31:30.280 Yes, Senator.
00:31:31.540 You know,
00:31:32.380 this morning,
00:31:34.020 I got the latest numbers
00:31:35.920 from CDC
00:31:36.640 that 76.4%
00:31:40.920 of Americans
00:31:41.560 now have a chronic disease.
00:31:43.800 This is stunning.
00:31:45.580 When my uncle
00:31:46.220 was president,
00:31:46.880 it was 11%.
00:31:47.880 1950,
00:31:49.120 it was 3%.
00:31:50.620 They had 76.4%.
00:31:53.880 85,
00:31:55.620 8 out of 10
00:31:56.560 of our kids
00:31:57.140 cannot qualify
00:31:57.900 for military service.
00:31:59.540 This is a national
00:32:00.300 security issue.
00:32:01.240 When my uncle
00:32:01.820 was president,
00:32:02.480 we spent zero
00:32:03.440 on chronic disease.
00:32:05.760 Today,
00:32:06.320 we spent $1.3 trillion.
00:32:08.400 It's the biggest cause.
00:32:09.640 It's increasing.
00:32:10.900 And all of the arguments
00:32:12.280 that Republicans
00:32:12.980 and Democrats have
00:32:14.160 about single-payer
00:32:16.300 Obamacare
00:32:17.360 or the various ways
00:32:19.840 of allocating
00:32:20.480 the health dollars,
00:32:21.200 they're all like
00:32:21.920 rearranging deck chairs
00:32:23.140 on the Titanic.
00:32:24.700 If we don't end
00:32:26.500 this chronic disease,
00:32:27.320 we are the sickest country
00:32:28.720 in the world.
00:32:30.240 That's why we have
00:32:30.960 to fire people
00:32:31.700 at the CDC.
00:32:32.980 They did not
00:32:33.900 do their job.
00:32:35.480 This was their job
00:32:36.800 to keep us healthy.
00:32:38.100 Thank you, Mr.
00:32:38.780 And I need to fire
00:32:39.560 some of those people
00:32:40.460 to make sure
00:32:41.020 this doesn't happen again.
00:32:42.440 Thank you, Mr. Secretary.
00:32:43.440 I have to cut myself off
00:32:44.740 to make sure I keep
00:32:45.560 to this time frame, too.
00:32:46.660 Senator White.
00:32:47.380 Thank you very much,
00:32:48.520 Mr. Chairman.
00:32:49.300 I've made it clear
00:32:50.500 I think that
00:32:51.380 Secretary Kennedy
00:32:53.360 is dead set
00:32:54.400 on making it harder
00:32:55.320 for children
00:32:55.920 to get vaccines
00:32:56.840 and that kids
00:32:57.520 are going to die
00:32:58.380 because of it.
00:32:59.640 And, Mr. Chairman,
00:33:00.580 I'd like to put
00:33:01.240 in the record today
00:33:02.300 an op-ed written
00:33:03.440 by Susan Menares
00:33:05.360 who was fired
00:33:06.160 by Mr. Kennedy.
00:33:07.640 Without objection.
00:33:10.100 So, what we know
00:33:12.960 and Dr. Menares,
00:33:15.580 you know,
00:33:15.820 it's approved
00:33:16.340 by Republicans.
00:33:17.600 She wrote an op-ed
00:33:18.720 today in the
00:33:19.720 Wall Street Journal
00:33:20.460 which I've just put
00:33:21.200 in the record
00:33:21.760 and I quote her.
00:33:23.320 She said,
00:33:23.800 I was told
00:33:25.140 to pre-approve
00:33:26.720 the recommendations
00:33:27.700 of a vaccine advisory panel
00:33:29.820 newly filled with people
00:33:31.820 who have publicly expressed
00:33:33.720 anti-vaccine rhetoric.
00:33:36.120 So,
00:33:36.800 this is not some
00:33:37.860 liberal philosopher
00:33:40.640 or something.
00:33:41.340 This is the CDC director
00:33:43.000 who tells
00:33:43.880 the Wall Street Journal
00:33:44.840 which is not exactly
00:33:46.000 interested in progressive,
00:33:48.540 you know, theories
00:33:49.280 and the like
00:33:50.000 that she was told
00:33:51.900 to pre-approve
00:33:53.200 the recommendations
00:33:54.080 of a vaccine advisory panel
00:33:55.960 filled with people
00:33:57.020 who've publicly expressed
00:33:58.820 anti-vaccine rhetoric.
00:34:00.420 So,
00:34:00.880 my first question,
00:34:01.680 Mr. Secretary,
00:34:02.580 is,
00:34:03.220 did you, in fact,
00:34:04.500 do what Director
00:34:05.940 Moneris said you did
00:34:07.660 which is
00:34:08.240 tell her
00:34:08.960 to just go along
00:34:10.080 with vaccine recommendations
00:34:11.320 even if she didn't think
00:34:12.460 such recommendations
00:34:13.640 aligned with scientific evidence.
00:34:16.340 No, I did not.
00:34:17.260 That's a yes or no.
00:34:18.620 So, you have an opportunity
00:34:19.540 to call her a liar
00:34:20.960 if you say that
00:34:22.260 you didn't do it
00:34:24.000 but I'd like to see
00:34:25.080 you respond to this.
00:34:26.460 Yeah, no,
00:34:27.320 I did not say that to her.
00:34:29.340 And I never had
00:34:30.340 a private meeting with her.
00:34:32.340 There's other witnesses
00:34:33.280 to every meeting
00:34:34.500 that we have
00:34:35.120 and all those witnesses
00:34:36.280 will say,
00:34:37.260 I never said that.
00:34:38.800 So, she's lying today
00:34:40.260 to the American people
00:34:41.440 in the Wall Street Journal?
00:34:42.500 Yes, sir.
00:34:43.400 Okay.
00:34:44.200 Let's talk now
00:34:45.840 about what's coming up
00:34:47.640 because I've made it clear
00:34:49.520 what I've thought
00:34:50.280 about the 203, you know,
00:34:51.960 days with my colleagues
00:34:53.100 and are also Brooks.
00:34:54.360 In two weeks,
00:34:55.540 CDC's advisory committee
00:34:56.920 on immunization practices
00:34:58.340 will meet
00:34:58.900 to make decisions
00:34:59.940 about critical vaccines
00:35:01.220 that protect us
00:35:02.080 against hepatitis B,
00:35:03.700 measles, and more.
00:35:05.140 The committee's got
00:35:05.940 a profound impact
00:35:07.480 on vaccine access
00:35:09.480 and we're going to have
00:35:10.720 to make decisions
00:35:11.480 that we're going to have
00:35:12.240 to make decisions
00:35:12.980 that we're going to have
00:35:13.480 to make decisions
00:35:14.020 that we're going to have
00:35:14.480 to make decisions
00:35:14.980 that we're going to have
00:35:15.480 to make decisions
00:35:16.060 that we're going to have.
00:35:16.480 But these aren't
00:35:17.480 ordinary meetings.
00:35:17.820 You've stacked the deck
00:35:18.860 to ensure the panel
00:35:19.860 benefits, bends to your views.
00:35:20.860 In June, you've fired
00:35:21.860 all 17 committee members
00:35:22.860 who are respected scientists
00:35:23.860 and doctors.
00:35:24.860 You replaced them
00:35:25.860 with non-experts, vaccine
00:35:26.860 skeptics, and conspiracy theorists.
00:35:28.860 As a result,
00:35:29.860 this critical advisory panel
00:35:31.860 has lost scientific credibility.
00:35:33.860 For years, colleagues,
00:35:35.060 we spend so much time
00:35:36.660 not looking at this
00:35:37.600 as Democrats and Republicans,
00:35:39.400 but it's good science
00:35:40.400 and scientific credibility.
00:35:42.500 And now the American Academy
00:35:44.600 of Pediatrics has warned
00:35:46.600 that the committee
00:35:47.900 is being politicized
00:35:49.940 at the expense
00:35:50.900 of children's health.
00:35:52.940 American Academy of Pediatrics,
00:35:55.620 you think they're lying, too?
00:35:58.280 I think the American
00:35:59.560 Academy of Pediatrics
00:36:02.020 is gravely conflicted.
00:36:03.920 They get their biggest contributors
00:36:07.360 are the four largest
00:36:08.200 vaccine makers.
00:36:10.200 They run a journal,
00:36:10.960 Pediatrics,
00:36:11.960 which they make a lot of money on,
00:36:13.460 that is completely dependent
00:36:14.700 on pharmaceutical companies.
00:36:16.100 So I don't think,
00:36:17.200 I wouldn't put a big stake
00:36:20.400 in what they say
00:36:21.740 that benefits
00:36:22.580 pharmaceutical interests.
00:36:24.500 Senator, I didn't politicize ACIP.
00:36:26.840 I depoliticized it.
00:36:28.940 The Congress has been
00:36:30.080 investigating ACIP.
00:36:31.080 All over the country,
00:36:32.240 Mr. Secretary,
00:36:33.680 scientists and doctors
00:36:35.620 are saying otherwise.
00:36:37.220 They're all wrong, too.
00:36:38.360 They're all lying,
00:36:39.260 according to you.
00:36:40.020 The scientists and doctors
00:36:41.260 are supporting me
00:36:42.100 all over the country.
00:36:43.420 There is division on opinion.
00:36:45.700 I don't get letters
00:36:47.520 from thousands of people
00:36:49.360 who are not political,
00:36:50.960 saying that this set of changes
00:36:53.640 is going to damage
00:36:54.880 American health care,
00:36:56.040 and particularly these
00:36:57.300 health care agencies,
00:36:58.480 for decades to come.
00:36:59.720 I don't get any letters
00:37:00.720 from people saying,
00:37:01.520 hey, this is going to make
00:37:02.580 a big difference forever.
00:37:04.020 Maybe you're listening
00:37:05.360 to a selective group of people.
00:37:06.760 You get me some letters.
00:37:08.660 Fine.
00:37:09.660 I will tell you what, Senator.
00:37:11.960 I will put my mailbag
00:37:13.960 against your mailbag
00:37:15.200 any day of the week.
00:37:15.960 I got 30 seconds.
00:37:17.160 To make the list,
00:37:18.500 dangerous respiratory viruses
00:37:22.840 like RSV are on the agenda
00:37:24.260 for the next advisory meeting.
00:37:26.000 Countless parents have been
00:37:27.360 awakened in the dead of night
00:37:28.980 by a wheezing kid,
00:37:30.300 gasping for air,
00:37:31.300 forced to rush their little one
00:37:32.340 to the ER.
00:37:33.280 There's no worse heart-wrenching fear.
00:37:35.640 The RSV vaccine offers
00:37:37.540 these kids protection
00:37:38.440 against the worst effects
00:37:40.520 of the virus.
00:37:41.680 But now it looks like you're on a crusade to make infants and babies more vulnerable
00:37:46.920 to the terrible illness.
00:37:48.240 That's what we're doing with the COVID changes.
00:37:52.020 And please make your answer brief, Mr. Secretary.
00:37:54.800 I've said that.
00:37:56.800 The position is indefensible.
00:37:58.180 I think it's possible.
00:37:59.180 Congress has been investigating that committee for 23 years because it is pervaded with conflicts
00:38:06.720 of interest.
00:38:07.720 What we did is we got rid of the conflicts of interest and we depoliticized it and put
00:38:13.480 great scientists on it from a very diverse group, by the way, so I'm very, very pro-vaccine.
00:38:19.120 Let me close with this, because, like Senator Krapel, I'm a few seconds over.
00:38:22.960 I don't think, Mr. Secretary, this is about you and me.
00:38:26.860 This is about kids being pushed in harm's way by reckless and repeated decisions to get scientists
00:38:34.080 and doctors out of the way and allow conspiracy theories to dictate this country's health
00:38:39.140 policy.
00:38:40.140 I don't see any evidence that you have any regrets about anything you've done or plans
00:38:44.420 to change it.
00:38:45.520 And my last comment is I hope that you will tell the American people how many preventable
00:38:52.740 child deaths are an acceptable sacrifice for enacting an agenda that I think is fundamentally
00:38:59.800 cruel and defies common sense.
00:39:01.800 Thank you, Mr. Chairman.
00:39:02.800 Do I get a reply or ... Senator, you've sat in that chair for how long, 20, 25 years while
00:39:11.980 the chronic disease in our children went up to 76 percent.
00:39:16.420 When you said nothing, you never asked the question why it's happening, why is this happening?
00:39:21.480 Today, for the first time in 20 years, we learned that infant mortality has increased in our
00:39:27.780 country.
00:39:28.780 It's not because I came in here, it's because of what happened during the Biden administration
00:39:32.120 that we're going to end.
00:39:33.120 I'm going to let Senator Wyden respond briefly to that, and then we're not going to go over
00:39:38.020 like we just did.
00:39:39.020 I don't want to defend this committee on a bipartisan basis.
00:39:42.520 Colleagues, my cabinet secretary says that we have no interest in chronic care.
00:39:48.460 Mr. Secretary, we are in the process of turning around the Medicare program with the chronic
00:39:54.900 care bill that Chairman Hatch, when he was chairman, and this committee put together
00:39:58.720 on a bipartisan basis.
00:39:59.720 All right.
00:40:00.720 We're going to proceed, and I just want the rest of the members to know.
00:40:03.960 I gave Senator Wyden as a ranking member some leeway there, but we're going to stick to
00:40:08.780 the five minutes.
00:40:10.240 Senator Grassley.
00:40:11.240 Senator Grassley.
00:40:12.240 First of all, thank you.
00:40:14.120 I have asked HH secretaries in the past to fully utilize the Rural Community Hospital
00:40:20.900 Demonstration Program under Medicare.
00:40:23.980 The program has been underutilized in May, the CMS filled the open slots, thanks to your agency.
00:40:33.600 I told you it was going to be a star chamber.
00:40:36.460 Right there you saw Wyden going right at Bobby Kennedy with nothing but invective.
00:40:41.420 Bobby Kennedy, RFK Jr., I thought had a great response at the end when they cut him off.
00:40:47.260 Hey, yo, bro, you've been here for 25 years.
00:40:50.420 Have you ever, when the illness of kids and chronic disease that make us the sickest country
00:40:58.260 in the world, the most advanced industrial power, post-industrial power, the sickest nation
00:41:02.200 on earth?
00:41:03.200 It's the whole reason for the Make America Healthy Again movement.
00:41:06.580 And I can tell by the chats that you're infuriated, and you should be infuriated.
00:41:09.660 I told you this was going to be a star chamber.
00:41:12.480 This is an inquisition, not simply about Bobby Kennedy, but the entire Maha movement and the
00:41:18.300 fundamental beliefs in trying to clean this mess up and really back down big pharma for
00:41:23.760 making this country sicker.
00:41:26.720 And you're going to see it, this is a, you talk about great powers, you know, the great
00:41:31.600 power struggle we have geopolitically, right, the, my crack staff's going to tell me when
00:41:36.700 we've got another Democrat, because that's where the action's going to be when they come
00:41:39.820 after him.
00:41:40.980 See the day of the Financial Times about the parade, the military gathering in China, in
00:41:46.920 Beijing, which capped off the, at the, in Tiananmen Square, that capped off, you know,
00:41:55.200 right there, great powers, Putin, Kim, you know, many, many, and North Korea, Xi brought
00:42:01.160 all the, all the enemies together, right?
00:42:03.480 The Persians, all of them, as I've said for years, they're going to do what you're seeing
00:42:07.480 this on Capitol Hill right now, play out in real time.
00:42:11.860 The great powers of the, uh, of the oligarchs, uh, that, um, that run health care in this
00:42:19.040 country, big pharma, big medical, the big insurance companies, this is the finance committee,
00:42:25.140 keep that in mind, this is the finance committee, they really have the overall, that was the
00:42:28.820 first committee that Bobby Kennedy went to for his, um, in his confirmation here, remember
00:42:35.240 we played the confirmation hearings, just harken back to that, because they're going to throw
00:42:39.060 that up in his face every day, about how he changed these committees, and Dr. Malone,
00:42:43.620 you know, runs this, was it, ASIP right now, uh, and they, they said, oh, you promised you
00:42:47.980 wouldn't change it, and you've changed it, and gotten all the, the hacks off it, and put
00:42:51.400 other people on it, uh, and the, and firing a CDC, Bobby Kennedy came out, at the beginning,
00:42:57.880 breathing fire, and what'd he say?
00:43:00.660 Hey, uh, America, you know, the stats are off the charts, we've been getting sicker every
00:43:05.600 year, CDC's in charge of that, those four people had to go, and he fired him, as he
00:43:10.640 has the ability to do, and he fired the head of CDC also, yeah, we're going to take
00:43:15.260 this break, and then we'll come back, we're going to, look, we're going to be going in
00:43:17.900 and out of this hearing throughout the morning, because we must, this is one of the many huge
00:43:24.600 battles on the deconstruction of the administrative state, and to be brutally frank about it, deconstruction
00:43:30.180 of the deep state, because CDC, you have to look for those linkages, CDC is a hardwired
00:43:37.200 linkage into the World Health Organization, and it's time that America took the power
00:43:42.860 back, this is what President Trump gave us with the MAGA movement, the Make America Great
00:43:47.160 Again, and the merger and convergence with Nicole Shanahan, and the great people that worked
00:43:53.180 for her, about Big Ag, and about, you know, getting, getting our food right, the ultra-processed
00:43:59.060 food, getting it, you know, ending that, and getting people to eat healthy again, and she
00:44:05.000 said that the solution with this is in the soil, a couple with Bobby Kennedy, and what
00:44:09.860 they've been fighting for, we had Mary Holland on last night, she's in the audience right
00:44:15.440 now, and as I'm teasing her, I said, I told you it was going to be an inquisition, these
00:44:20.240 Democrats are going to be off the chain today, coming at Bobby Kennedy, now, we're going to
00:44:25.400 put in some other people, I've got, I've got Aviva Frye, he's going to be with us, Jan
00:44:30.840 from Epoch Times, Jan's got a great piece about the buried lead of this, I gave a little
00:44:37.080 talk today over at Heritage, the buried lead of this, is the most important thing that
00:44:41.700 Xi and Putin talked about was, wait for it, them living to 150 years old on freshly warm
00:44:48.340 organs taken from living human beings, oh, by the way, on the path to immortality, if you
00:44:54.000 heard that sidebar conversation, Aviva Frye's going to be here, Aviva was, I would say, less
00:44:58.760 than impressed by the event yesterday, and that's why I wanted to show you entirely, with
00:45:05.480 no editorial comment, that you guys can start to get this information, and start to make
00:45:09.960 your own decisions about where this Epstein thing's going, I don't think the discharge
00:45:14.600 position is, the discharge petition is going to make it, I'm not sure they get any more
00:45:19.940 Republicans, President Trump said, hey, if you vote for that, it's a hostile act, Mike
00:45:24.400 Johnson, the Speaker, they've got, they've got oversight looking at this, they're going
00:45:29.040 to release documents, so we'll try to get all that sorted out with Viva Frye, and we
00:45:32.700 will return to Bobby Kennedy as he throws, the good thing about Bobby, and it's one of
00:45:37.440 the reasons I think President Trump likes him so much, he's a fighter, I mean, he's not
00:45:40.780 going to back off, he saw he went right after Wyden, as he should, it was inappropriate
00:45:44.160 the way, they're trying to remove Bobby Kennedy, that's what this is about, they're trying
00:45:47.780 to make the case, at the very beginning, they said, put him under oath, we want to
00:45:51.340 get him from perjuring himself, because he's a liar, he lied to us in the confirmation hearing,
00:45:55.120 we want to get on him, and of course, they dismissed that right away, but that's the
00:45:58.240 hard ball they're playing, and the good thing about Bobby Kennedy, he's not going to back
00:46:02.620 down one inch, he's not a guy, he's a fighter, you know, you can say a lot of things about
00:46:06.300 Bobby Kennedy, one thing, he can give a punch as good as he can take one, so he doesn't
00:46:11.420 have a glass jaw, this guy's a fighter, I want to thank Birch Gold, we told you, you
00:46:15.620 know, gold is on a tear, every day I don't sit there and say, you've got to buy gold

00:46:24.880 we've told you for years this is coming, okay, and part of that, a corollary, is BRICS, and
00:46:31.460 guess what BRICS nations had when they were still in Beijing, a Zoom call, what's that Zoom

00:46:57.040 This July, there is a global summit of BRICS nations in Rio de Janeiro, the bloc of emerging
00:47:08.000 superpowers, including China, Russia, India, and Persia, are meeting with the goal of displacing
00:47:14.760 the United States dollar as the global currency.
00:47:18.060 They're calling this the Rio Reset.
00:47:20.960 As BRICS nations push forward with their plans, global demand for U.S. dollars will decrease,

00:50:02.580 A former CIA, Pentagon, and White House advisor with an unmatched grasp of geopolitics and capital markets.
00:50:09.200 Jim predicted Trump's Electoral College victory exactly 312 to 226.
00:50:14.780 down to the actual number itself.
00:50:18.700 Now he's issuing a dire warning about April 11th, a moment that could define Trump's presidency and your financial future.
00:50:26.160 His latest book, Money GPT, exposes how AI is setting the stage for financial chaos, bank runs at lightning speeds, algorithm-driven crashes, and even threats to national security.

00:51:03.060 Justice, release the files, end the secrecy, and stand with us in declaring that no one, no billionaires, no politicians, not world leaders, is above the law.
00:51:14.860 And let me announce now, several of us F-team survivors have been discussing creating our own list of names.
00:51:34.200 We know the names.
00:51:39.100 Many of us were abused by them.
00:51:41.060 Now, together as survivors, we will confidentially compile the names we all know we're regularly in the Epstein world, and it will be done by survivors and for survivors.
00:51:56.140 No one else is involved.
00:51:58.400 Stay tuned for more details on that.
00:52:02.180 Because history is washing, and so are the women who will come after us.
00:52:07.640 Thank you.
00:52:08.200 In 2002, I was living in California, a young woman with high aspirations of becoming an actress.
00:52:12.660 I was already beginning to make a name for myself in the industry.
00:52:15.640 A person I trusted, someone I thought was a friend, invited me to meet a powerful woman who could help advance my career.
00:52:22.240 That woman happened to be Ghislaine Maxwell.
00:52:24.820 I was asked to give her a massage, though I had almost no experience, and when I did, she praised me and promised introductions to someone enormously powerful,
00:52:33.060 someone who could change the course of my life, and that man was Jeffrey Epstein.
00:52:37.660 At first, I was an excited young woman on top of the world.
00:52:41.080 Epstein flew me to his private island.
00:52:42.820 He listened to my dreams, promised to help, but his promises came with a catch.
00:52:46.960 The abuse began, he told me to keep it secret.
00:52:51.100 He manipulated me with quid pro quo I did not consent to, but I felt I had no one to turn to.
00:52:56.980 He was too powerful.
00:52:59.420 I was just one of the many young women trapped in his orbit.
00:53:01.900 I was even taken on a trip to Africa with former President Bill Clinton and other notable figures.
00:53:06.500 We're going to get Viva Frye in here in a moment.
00:53:08.740 Let's go back, though.
00:53:09.760 Bennett is tearing into Bobby Kennedy.
00:53:11.780 Let's go listen to it.
00:53:12.640 The immune system and their ability to have children in the future.
00:53:16.520 Yes or no, Mr. Kennedy?
00:53:18.620 And Dr. Malone is one of the inventors.
00:53:20.580 Yes or no?
00:53:21.300 Yes or no?
00:53:21.860 Were you aware that he had that view when you appointed him to this panel?
00:53:26.280 Dr. Malone is one of the inventors.
00:53:28.720 As I said, Dr. Malone is one of the inventors of the mRNA vaccine.
00:53:33.560 That statement, Mr. Chairman.
00:53:36.500 That statement is not true that Dr. Malone made, just as it wasn't true when you wrote
00:53:43.340 that, quote, African AIDS is entirely different from Western AIDS.
00:53:49.480 Are you aware that another one of these new members, Dr. Levy, wrote that, quote, evidence
00:53:56.640 is mounting and indisputable that mRNA vaccines cause serious harm, including death, especially
00:54:05.000 among young people?
00:54:06.500 Yes or no?
00:54:07.140 Are you aware that he said that?
00:54:09.020 I wasn't aware he said it, but I think I agree with it.
00:54:12.000 You agree with it.
00:54:13.080 It's not true.
00:54:14.200 It wasn't true when he said it.
00:54:15.800 It is not true when you said it.
00:54:17.840 Secretary Kennedy, later this month, your new panel will meet to consider changing vaccine
00:54:25.180 recommendations for American children.
00:54:27.440 In addition to the COVID-19 vaccines, they are set to review recommendations for the hepatitis
00:54:34.480 B vaccine, for measles, for mumps, for rubella and varicella vaccine, and the RSV vaccine.
00:54:42.460 These are common back-to-school vaccinations for children all over the industrialized world.
00:54:49.200 If you change that, you owe parents in Colorado and across the country the benefit of some
00:54:58.540 transparency, I think.
00:55:01.000 If your panel recommends changing the vaccine schedule for children, do you anticipate that
00:55:06.540 fewer children will receive these common vaccinations, yes or no?
00:55:12.640 What I would say, Senator—
00:55:15.260 The obvious answer is yes.
00:55:16.760 Should parents and schools of Colorado be prepared for more measles outbreaks as a result of that,
00:55:23.820 Mr. Secretary?
00:55:26.060 Senator, I don't—
00:55:26.680 How about more mumps outbreaks?
00:55:29.040 I don't—I do not anticipate a change in the MMR vaccine.
00:55:34.460 You know, AZIP is an independent panel, so—
00:55:37.540 Well, it's a panel you just put those folks on.
00:55:40.780 Far from what you said, there are people with ideas that are completely outside the mainstream.
00:55:48.380 You mean out of the pharmaceutical paradigm?
00:55:50.380 Let me just say, Mr. Secretary, all these vaccines that we're talking about today are free and
00:55:56.260 accessible to parents today in America who have the freedom to be able to make that choice
00:56:02.720 for their children.
00:56:03.460 Will that be true after your hand-picked panel makes their judgments about these vaccines?
00:56:09.820 I think that parents should be free to—
00:56:13.840 I know.
00:56:14.100 You've said that before.
00:56:15.120 I do, too.
00:56:16.040 To make their own choices.
00:56:17.520 So will they be just as free after these vaccines?
00:56:19.840 I assume they will be.
00:56:20.920 I will hold you to that, Secretary Kennedy, because this is not a podcast.
00:56:29.120 It is the American people's health that's on the line here.
00:56:33.320 This is the last thing, by the way, our parents need when their kids are going back to school,
00:56:39.020 is to have the kind of confusion and expense and scarcity that you're creating as a result
00:56:46.300 of your ideology.
00:56:48.280 I think it's critical for you to share the evidence that this panel will rely on.
00:56:55.780 Will you give the American people six months or six weeks in advance the record that they're
00:57:01.660 going to rely on to make these decisions?
00:57:03.980 Will you make it transparent for the American people?
00:57:06.160 All the evidence is transparent.
00:57:08.060 Will you make it in advance transparent for the American people so they can comment on it?
00:57:12.240 All the evidence is transparent.
00:57:13.780 Darren, for the first time in history, and you were never there complaining when the
00:57:17.180 pharmaceutical companies were picking those people and then running their products through
00:57:21.520 with no safety testing.
00:57:22.560 You can characterize it any way you want.
00:57:25.000 I quoted them today.
00:57:26.420 What I said was accurate.
00:57:28.440 What you said were lies.
00:57:30.800 Are you saying, Senator, are you saying that a dmRNA vaccine has never been associated with
00:57:39.740 myocarditis or pericarditis in teenagers?
00:57:42.060 I am simply trying to say that the people that you have put on that panel, after firing the
00:57:51.780 entire—
00:57:52.060 You're evading the question.
00:57:53.480 No, I'm asking the questions here, Mr. Kennedy.
00:57:56.300 You're evading that question.
00:57:57.600 I'm asking the questions, Mr. Kennedy.
00:58:00.020 I ask your question.
00:58:00.580 I'm asking the questions for Mr. Kennedy on behalf of parents and schools and teachers
00:58:07.120 all over the United States of America who deserve so much better than your leadership.
00:58:14.180 That's what this conversation is about, Mr. Chairman.
00:58:17.480 Senator, they deserve the truth, and that's what we're going to give them for the first time
00:58:22.040 in the history of that agency.
00:58:28.880 Senator Cassidy.
00:58:30.380 Thank you.
00:58:31.040 I'll try and restore a little calm here.
00:58:33.680 And I'm approaching this as a doctor, not as a senator.
00:58:36.920 I am concerned about children's health, seniors' health, all of our health.
00:58:40.760 And I applaud you for joining the president in a call for radical transparency.
00:58:45.460 Thank you for that.
00:58:47.300 I said yesterday—I believe it—that President Trump deserves a Nobel Prize
00:58:51.980 for Operation Warp Speed.
00:58:53.920 If he had been President Obama, he would have gotten it.
00:58:56.620 But because of Operation Warp Speed, forcing the federal government to come to a vaccine
00:59:00.740 development within 10 months when others said it couldn't be done, we saved millions
00:59:05.140 of lives globally, trillions of dollars, we reopened economies, an incredible accomplishment.
00:59:11.320 Mr. Secretary, do you agree with me that the president deserves a Nobel Prize for Operation
00:59:17.160 Warp Speed?
00:59:17.560 Absolutely, Senator.
00:59:19.240 That's phenomenal.
00:59:20.220 Let me ask you.
00:59:21.680 But you just told Senator Bennett that the COVID vaccine killed more people than COVID.
00:59:29.540 Wait.
00:59:30.040 That was a statement.
00:59:30.720 I did not say that.
00:59:32.240 Okay.
00:59:32.620 Then let me ask, because you also—
00:59:34.760 Senator, I just want to make clear I cannot say that.
00:59:37.780 We'll check the record.
00:59:38.620 That's a question of fact.
00:59:39.580 You also said that you were also, as lead attorney for the Children's Health Defense, you engaged
00:59:46.440 in multiple lawsuits attempting to restrict access to the COVID vaccine.
00:59:51.840 Again, it surprises me that you think so highly of Operation Warp Speed when, as an attorney,
00:59:56.860 you attempted to restrict access.
00:59:59.860 Let me ask.
01:00:00.360 I'm happy to explain why.
01:00:02.400 I have—I had three minutes and 30 seconds left.
01:00:07.080 All right.
01:00:07.280 It also surprises me because you've canceled, or HHAs did, but apparently under your direction,
01:00:13.780 $500 million in contracts using the mRNA vaccine platform that was critical to Operation Warp
01:00:23.140 Speed.
01:00:23.400 Again, an accomplishment that I think President Trump should get a Nobel Prize for.
01:00:28.700 You canceled $500 million in contracts.
01:00:31.220 Now, I grew up in a middle-class family, so $500 million seems to cancel.
01:00:38.100 It seems like an incredible waste of money.
01:00:40.180 But it also seems like a commentary upon what the president was attempting, what the president
01:00:45.940 did in Operation Warp Speed, which is to create a platform by which to create vaccines.
01:00:52.920 So this just seems inconsistent that you would agree with me the president deserves a tremendous
01:00:56.800 amount of credit for this.
01:00:57.760 Is this a question, Senator Cassidy, or is this a speech that you don't want me to answer?
01:01:03.640 No, I'm going to ask you a question.
01:01:03.920 Because I want to answer that question.
01:01:05.420 Please, please.
01:01:06.020 If it's a question.
01:01:07.200 But be tight, please.
01:01:08.400 First of all, the reason that Operation Warp Speed was genius is it did something nobody
01:01:15.640 had ever been done.
01:01:16.400 I don't think any president, but President Trump could do it.
01:01:18.860 It got the vaccine to mark that it was perfectly matched to the virus at that time when it was
01:01:24.220 badly needed because there was low natural immunity and there were people getting very
01:01:29.820 badly injured by COVID.
01:01:32.080 But he was also brought in therapeutics like hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin and protocols
01:01:39.120 for treatments.
01:01:40.200 And there were no mandates.
01:01:43.260 Okay, I have another question, so please.
01:01:45.580 That's when I began litigating against President Biden's mandates.
01:01:50.680 Now, in terms of me canceling those contracts, I have limited time, Mr. Secretary.
01:01:57.720 I'm sorry.
01:01:58.520 You've called for, and rightly so, that we should restrict participation in agencies for
01:02:04.460 those with conflict of interest.
01:02:05.620 I would like to submit for the record an evaluation of the conflict of interest of those who are
01:02:12.280 on the ACIP and the Vaccines and Related Biologic Products Advisory Board.
01:02:17.220 It was not 97 percent as alleged, rather it was 6.9 percent, and it was 1.2 percent, I think,
01:02:23.600 for the other panel.
01:02:24.320 Without objection.
01:02:25.440 Now, I am concerned, though, because many of those whom you have nominated for the ACIP
01:02:30.400 board...
01:02:30.900 Senator, you have the facts wrong.
01:02:33.140 Excuse me.
01:02:33.800 Can I have my time back?
01:02:35.620 Yes.
01:02:36.160 Yes.
01:02:36.300 What I am concerned about is that many of those whom you've nominated for ACIP have
01:02:43.800 received revenue as serving as expert witnesses for plaintiff's attorneys suing vaccine makers.
01:02:53.320 Now, one of my colleagues in another setting alleged that you seem more interested in settlements
01:02:58.460 than science.
01:02:59.180 If we put people who are paid witnesses for vaccine, people suing vaccines, that actually
01:03:07.600 seems like a conflict of interest.
01:03:09.400 Real quickly, do you agree with that?
01:03:11.460 No, I don't.
01:03:14.120 It may be a bias, and that bias, if disclosed, is okay.
01:03:20.920 So, if the bias is disclosed, they have expert witnesses.
01:03:25.500 It's not a financial conflict of interest.
01:03:27.280 Let me finish up.
01:03:28.440 You also told Senator Wyden at the outset that you didn't want to take vaccines away from
01:03:35.780 people.
01:03:36.560 And as I conclude, I would like to say this.
01:03:38.700 First, because of the conflicting recommendations made about COVID, this is from Eric Erickson,
01:03:45.620 good conservative out of Atlanta, Georgia, occasionally gives me help.
01:03:49.440 My wife has stage four lung cancer.
01:03:51.640 She is one of the people that COVID vaccine actually helps.
01:03:54.820 Thanks to the current mess at HHS, CVS is unable to get her vaccine.
01:03:59.560 Secondly, an email from a physician friend of mine.
01:04:04.260 Hey, Bill, I'm not even sure what I'm asking you, but we're all confused and concerned about
01:04:08.580 who can get the COVID vaccine.
01:04:10.280 We are having our attorney try and render an opinion, but there's no firm guidance and
01:04:14.700 concern about liability if vaccines are given to a patient, request it, but not on the current
01:04:18.640 CDC list.
01:04:20.060 Pharmacists are requiring a prescription, now even for patients over 65, creating a huge
01:04:24.560 headache.
01:04:25.060 I submit these for the record.
01:04:26.660 Without objection.
01:04:27.380 I would say, effectively, we're denying people vaccine.
01:04:30.180 Senator Catwell.
01:04:31.380 I get wrong.
01:04:33.120 Thank you, Mr. Chairman.
01:04:34.360 Following up on that same line as Senator Cassidy, because that's exactly, you know, I represent
01:04:39.220 one of the most science-based states in the country.
01:04:44.040 That is, percentage of scientists per capita.
01:04:47.160 And at your confirmation hearing, we asked about this, whether you would follow science.
01:04:51.580 You've made a statement here today in your testimony that you would follow science, and yet
01:04:55.900 you're not following science.
01:04:57.240 And that's what Senator Cassidy's question was.
01:04:59.860 It's a simple yes or no answer.
01:05:01.360 Do you think the president deserves to get a prize for warp speed in the MRNA technology
01:05:09.220 that saved so many lives?
01:05:10.920 And you won't answer that question.
01:05:13.200 I answered it.
01:05:14.080 No, you're saying that there are problems with what was interpreted.
01:05:18.060 You could say yes.
01:05:18.880 Do you say yes right now?
01:05:19.480 I said the president deserves a Nobel Prize, but are MRNA vaccines that we're working on,
01:05:26.340 the ones that we canceled, which are for upper respiratory infections alone, are those—
01:05:32.280 You canceled $500 million of research because the MRNA technology is about continuing the
01:05:41.200 research to be ready for the next flu influenza, the next pandemic, and you have to do the research.
01:05:49.140 I'm happy to have a detailed discussion with you about it.
01:05:52.540 You're so wrong on your facts.
01:05:54.420 You're interrupting me.
01:05:55.560 And, sir, you're a charlatan.
01:05:57.000 That's what you are.
01:05:57.740 You're the ones who conflate chronic disease with the need for vaccines.
01:06:02.940 The history on vaccines is very clear.
01:06:05.400 This is the 20th century.
01:06:07.300 That's how many people had vaccines and had illnesses.
01:06:11.420 This is the 21st century.
01:06:13.640 This is the decrease, 99% down to 100%.
01:06:17.500 This is what was delivered with vaccines.
01:06:20.900 And you don't want to support that.
01:06:22.820 You don't want to support that evidence.
01:06:24.520 So, yes, the governors of the West— Washington, Oregon, and California—
01:06:29.720 will take up the efficacy of science.
01:06:32.080 Yes, the University of Washington will deliver the science that America will depend on
01:06:37.920 because you don't want to depend on it.
01:06:40.100 And his own surgeon general of the Trump administration said over 2 million lives were saved because
01:06:47.980 the mRNA technology, and you don't want to continue that.
01:06:52.280 You don't want to continue that technology.
01:06:54.340 So what country is going to now take up that technology lead?
01:06:59.300 What country is going to do that, leaving us more vulnerable to some other country
01:07:04.260 keeping the advantage on having the best technology?
01:07:08.200 So I'm telling you I represent a state that's about technology.
01:07:11.220 I have two other quick questions for you.
01:07:13.380 Are these questions or statements?
01:07:14.900 Because I can answer that question if it's actually a question.
01:07:17.680 Do you believe in having the ACA and the support for the ACA that is about to expire?
01:07:24.640 Do you believe in doing something about that?
01:07:27.360 In terms of the advance— of the enhanced premium tax credits?
01:07:32.400 Yes.
01:07:34.360 The Democrats had two chances to make them permanent, and they didn't.
01:07:38.960 And they didn't for a reason.
01:07:40.580 We're the ones who delivered it.
01:07:41.880 So I'm just asking, yes or no, do you want to do something about this?
01:07:44.880 Yes, sir?
01:07:44.980 I want to fix the system, and that's what we're doing, fixing systematically to make premiums lower.
01:07:50.300 That's what President Trump wants to do.
01:07:51.880 Do you think the women on the steps of the Capitol were a hoax yesterday?
01:07:55.920 I don't know about any women on the steps of the Capitol yesterday.
01:07:59.080 The women who were talking about Epstein, do you think they were a hoax yesterday?
01:08:02.260 Do I think they were?
01:08:03.540 Do you think they were perpetrating a hoax yesterday?
01:08:06.780 Perpetuating a hoax?
01:08:07.960 Yeah.
01:08:08.120 I have no idea what they were saying.
01:08:09.900 This is the first I'm hearing about it.
01:08:12.420 You're first that you're hearing about the women on the Capitol steps saying that they believe that the Epstein information should be made public?
01:08:19.720 That's the first you're hearing about it?
01:08:20.940 But what I'm saying is you are perpetrating hoaxes.
01:08:24.840 You, as the Secretary of Health, so you're undermining the whole health care delivery system, and you keep trying to point to chronic disease.
01:08:33.360 But you're not putting solutions on the table to cover more Americans, and you're taking away the science and technology that has made us the leader,
01:08:41.580 that has saved, according to the first Trump administration's surgeon general, millions of lives.
01:08:47.280 And you don't want to keep that going.
01:08:49.520 So, no, I don't support your continued efforts as Secretary, and I definitely think that our colleagues need to rally around science.
01:08:57.240 If you want the Northwest just to continue to lead on all innovation and all healthy people, okay, we'll do that.
01:09:02.760 But it's a sad statement for the rest of America and America's leadership on technology.
01:09:07.320 Thank you, Mr. Chairman.
01:09:08.540 Thank you.
01:09:09.240 Senator Warner.
01:09:14.660 Mr. Secretary, I agree with a lot of my colleagues' statements.
01:09:17.660 I actually had hoped.
01:09:18.820 I didn't support you.
01:09:19.640 I thought taking on chronic illnesses was going to be important.
01:09:23.740 I've got two kids, as we discussed when you met, that have chronic illnesses.
01:09:29.260 I'm not sure that the focus on red dye and seed oils are going to fully solve that problem.
01:09:37.960 Of course they won't.
01:09:39.660 I would say this.
01:09:40.620 That seems where your emphasis is.
01:09:41.860 I want to go back to just, again, some basic facts.
01:09:45.340 Do you accept the fact that a million Americans died from COVID?
01:09:49.980 I don't know how many died.
01:09:52.620 You're the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
01:09:55.460 You don't have any idea how many Americans died from COVID?
01:09:59.140 I don't think anybody knows that because there was so much data chaos coming out of the CDC.
01:10:06.700 And there were so many perverse incentives.
01:10:08.680 You don't know the answer of how many Americans died from COVID.
01:10:14.420 This is the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
01:10:16.580 Do you think the vaccine did anything to prevent additional deaths?
01:10:21.640 Again, I would like to see the data and talk about the data.
01:10:26.820 You have had this job for eight months, and you don't know the data about whether the vaccine saved lives?
01:10:32.460 No, and that's the problem is that they didn't have the data.
01:10:35.300 The data by the Biden administration, absolutely dismal.
01:10:38.580 So who is politicizing?
01:10:41.780 You're saying the Biden administration politicized all the data?
01:10:45.000 Go back to what Sarah Cantwell just said.
01:10:46.820 They fired Dr. Krauss.
01:10:47.360 Go to the Trump Surgeon General.
01:10:49.960 They fired Dr. Krauss.
01:10:51.480 They fired all the people who questioned the orthodoxy.
01:10:54.400 They fired Dr. Gruber, Dr. Krauss.
01:10:56.580 So, Mr. Chairman, the Secretary of Health and Human Services doesn't know how many Americans died from COVID, doesn't know if the vaccine helped prevent any deaths, and you are sitting as Secretary of Health and Human Services?
01:11:10.300 How can you be that ignorant?
01:11:12.620 Like, you know, I remember when we went to the hearing with you.
01:11:15.800 I asked you about community health centers.
01:11:17.740 You didn't know what role they play.
01:11:19.100 I've been visiting community.
01:11:20.040 I'm glad you got to one.
01:11:21.600 I think in April.
01:11:22.260 I tell you what I hear in community health centers, they are terrified, with all due respect to my good friend, the chairman, of the big, awful bill, because they are going to lose health care across the board.
01:11:35.580 They already live in food deserts.
01:11:38.660 They can't get to a nutritionist because Medicaid doesn't do enough reimbursement.
01:11:45.060 If you're going to want Americans to get healthier, should they have access to nutritionists?
01:11:50.000 Should they have access to good science about healthy food?
01:11:54.120 Absolutely.
01:11:55.200 Well, then, how is that going to happen with the Medicaid cuts that are taking place?
01:11:59.180 There are no cuts to Medicaid.
01:12:00.880 Sir, that is an absurd—there is not a single—it's a Republican college, but there is not a single study that does not—and I can tell you, I was in Franklin, Virginia a couple days ago.
01:12:12.740 The rural hospital is going to close.
01:12:15.760 The hospital system was so afraid they wouldn't even let me have the meeting there.
01:12:20.240 But that rural hospital is going to close.
01:12:23.120 And they are looking for where those folks are going to go.
01:12:26.460 I mean, you're supposed to be doing health care policy, not being the doctor in residence for all of America.
01:12:33.940 I hope—I can just say, I'm still going to trust my doctor rather than your health advice.
01:12:38.960 Is that a problem with our state?
01:12:40.740 And obviously, Tom Cotton's going to—who knows who he's going to trust.
01:12:44.920 But let me go back to policy for a couple of seconds.
01:12:46.980 Maybe we'll lower the temperature a little bit.
01:12:49.440 I've got a bipartisan bill that would be a systemic fix, not a vote-buying mechanism when Medicaid's getting cut, what was put in on the rural hospitals.
01:13:00.200 One of the things we could do, Mr. Secretary, is make sure—
01:13:02.480 Let me have this for a second.
01:13:03.800 We have a couple things we have to get to.
01:13:06.120 Is Viva Fry still with us?
01:13:07.780 So, Viva, I had to cut short yesterday.
01:13:11.480 But right there you saw Cantwell come right at Bobby Kennedy because President Trump did say immediately afterwards, this is all a hoax.
01:13:17.880 You've been covering this, and I consider you a steady, eddy, safe pair of hands, you call them as you see them.
01:13:24.720 I think some people sent me things on Twitter yesterday.
01:13:28.180 You were less than impressed by the victim's presentation yesterday.
01:13:33.780 And I want to just add that I think we're the only, at least conservative channel, that showed it in its entirety because I wanted the audience to hear it all without any commercial interruptions or without any editorial comment.
01:13:47.220 What are your thoughts, Viva Fry?
01:13:49.040 We'll start with certain premises, one of which is that Pam Bondi's rollout of the Epstein files has been an utter debacle.
01:13:58.900 It's been disastrous.
01:13:59.920 It's compromised Trump goodwill, unnecessarily so.
01:14:03.100 And I am of the opinion that Pam Bondi should have been fired even before the Epstein files for her lack of dealing with the Douglas Mackey case, the Dr., I forget his last name, Dr. Moore's case, continuing Biden-era prosecutions of people under the Trump admin.
01:14:19.880 The rollout has been a debacle.
01:14:22.740 I support the full disclosure of everything related to the Epstein files to the extent it can be legally disclosed, which is why, you know, back in the day, it's like, Massey putting forward that motion with Ro Khanna is good.
01:14:33.780 I mean, I support it.
01:14:34.980 There's no but to that.
01:14:36.780 The hearing yesterday, if I'm Douglas Massey, I'm watching that and I'm saying, ugh, this is what happens when you get into bed with strange political bedfellows.
01:14:46.100 Like, that hearing yesterday now makes the discharge petition look like a absolute partisan, not say witch hunt, it looks like it's become a partisan tool.
01:14:58.640 It's been hijacked and co-opted by forces that I think are not after transparency for the Epstein documents, because if they were, they would have taken that bullhorn and that podium that they had yesterday and named the names that they admit and know that they have of their own abusers.
01:15:13.580 So the everything that we saw yesterday sent like promotion, promotion of podcasts, promotion of, I don't know, hit lists that they're going to be preparing internally and not even of abusers of anyone in orbit.
01:15:25.720 It sounds exactly like what they.
01:15:27.960 Hang on one second.
01:15:29.420 I'm going to hold you through the break.
01:15:30.380 This is important because you wanted to hear at least some names.
01:15:34.660 Right.
01:15:35.520 So let's take a short break.
01:15:38.740 We're going to return.
01:15:39.900 We got Viva Fry.
01:15:40.800 We've got Jan from Epoch Times.
01:15:44.440 We're going to get back to the hearing.
01:15:45.840 I promised you a star chamber.
01:15:48.140 I promised you an inquisition on Bobby Kennedy.
01:15:51.160 The Democrats can't help themselves.
01:15:53.560 Lie after lie after lie.
01:15:55.100 But big farmers getting their money's worth today.
01:15:57.360 Short break.
01:15:58.160 Back in the warm in a moment.
01:16:02.740 There's a lot of talk about government debt.
01:16:04.860 But after four years of inflation, the real crisis is personal debt.
01:16:09.840 Seriously, you're working harder than ever.
01:16:12.160 And you're still drowning in credit card debt and overdue bills.
