Bannon suggests that Scott Bessent should be both the head of the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department. The idea is sure to stir controversy within the ranks of those who are focused on the idea of the Fed being independent.
00:00:00.000D.C. Eamon Javers has this latest. Eamon. Melissa, CNBC has obtained a clip exclusively of an
00:00:06.460interview with former White House advisor Steve Bannon. The interview is conducted by Sean Spicer,
00:00:12.520who's, of course, the former press secretary for Donald Trump in his first term. In this interview,
00:00:17.700Bannon makes a provocative suggestion about the future of Scott Bessent, who's the Treasury
00:00:23.300secretary, and whether or not he should have a role at the Fed. Here's what he says.
00:00:27.760I am a big believer that on an interim basis, that Scott Bessent should be both the head of the
00:00:35.020Federal Reserve and the secretary of Treasury and maybe get to the midterm elections, step down as
00:00:39.000Treasury and take over the Federal Reserve. Now, that full interview is going to air at 6 p.m.
00:00:44.300on Sean Spicer's podcast on YouTube. But in that, you see Spicer discussing this with Bannon. We
00:00:50.480should note, of course, neither one of those men is a current White House official. Both of them
00:00:55.440retain significant relationships here inside the building. And so this idea that Scott Bessent
00:01:01.240should be both the Treasury secretary and the chairman of the Federal Reserve after Jay Powell
00:01:07.660is clearly an idea that's going to get some traction inside this building. Whether it will be embraced
00:01:12.980by this building is a different question entirely. We'll ask White House officials what they think of
00:01:17.600that idea. Scott Bessent himself has said he does not want to be Fed chair. He's happy in the job that
00:01:22.640he's in. The president said in August that he was taking Bessent off the list of candidates for the
00:01:28.260Fed because Bessent told him he wants to stay at Treasury. So this idea, though, that he could have
00:01:34.360a dual hat obviously will raise a lot of concerns among people who are very focused on the idea of
00:01:39.920Fed independence. The idea that you could have a Treasury secretary simultaneously running the Fed
00:01:45.140will be controversial in those circles, guys. The whole interview, as I say, on 6 p.m. tonight on YouTube.
00:01:51.760But that is the gist of the comments there from Bannon, who says he likes the...
00:01:55.560This is the primal scream of a dying regime.
00:02:02.180Pray for our enemies, because we're going medieval on these people.
00:02:07.180Here's one time I got a free shot at all these networks lying about the people. The people have had a belly full of it.
00:02:13.180I know you don't like hearing that. I know you try to do everything in the world to stop that, but you're not going to stop it. It's going to happen.
00:02:19.300And where do people like that go to share the big lie? Mega media. I wish in my soul, I wish that any of these people had a conscience.
00:02:29.680Ask yourself, what is my task and what is my purpose? If that answer is to save my country, this country will be saved.
00:02:39.760War Room. Here's your host, Stephen K. Bannon.
00:02:48.180It's Saturday, 20 September in the year of our Lord, 2025. Thank you for sticking around for the second hour of the Saturday morning edition of The War Room.
00:02:57.400You know, it's our favorite show of the week. We can actually get into some topics in more depth.
00:03:02.420I think it's the first time, our record keeping here is sometimes a little loosey-goosey, but I think it's the first time we've ever had, at least on the Saturday show, but I think any time, an hour where we have three doctors.
00:03:16.600And I mean like PhD heavyweight intellectuals. That would be Dr. Dave Bratt, Dr. Peter Navarro, and Dr. Michael Savage are joining us here momentarily.
00:03:26.340Absolutely. And Brad, I think your doctorate is not in theology. You may have a sidebar or a side deal in theology, but you actually have a doctorate in economics also, right?
00:03:41.000Fantastic. And of course, Dr. Navarro joins us now, has his doctorate from Harvard, but didn't damage him too much.
00:03:53.060Peter, give us your assessment. I'll keep you out of the Fed-Treasury debate.
00:03:59.180Oh, no, no, no, no. I want to hit that, man. Did you come up with that? I think that's genius.
00:04:04.440I actually think it's genius. And for nothing else, to let the left's head totally explode. I mean, we've got Stephen Mirren essentially doing the same kind of thing.
00:04:16.200I, you know, I'm thinking about that. That's kind of, kind of interesting. So, um, if nothing else, you know, you're going to be the toast of morning joe for the whole week here, brother.
00:04:28.000Well, as you remember, Peter, because you were down in Mar-a-Lago, you, you were in Mar-a-Lago in the transition and it had, it had, uh, Elon and, uh, and Lutnik and, and the war room and Besson.
00:04:41.620And our, our, our pitch at the time is that the president had people like yourself, people he had worked with on these policies.
00:04:48.900And we were trying to give a heads up that you're going to totally reorganize the global trading system around America first.
00:04:56.740And that you needed a treasury now more than ever, someone that could take President Trump and your guys' policies, explain it to Wall Street and to the world's capital markets and the world's finance ministers and be a safe pair of hands.
00:05:08.520I think Scott has done that in, in spades. And of course he's taken over some of the negotiations, some of these deals.
00:05:14.320Just where do we stand with that? Cause I think that a lot of questions about the American economy now, uh, I see a lot of positive things here.
00:05:22.280The big, beautiful bills about to kick in, I think with more of the supply side, but, uh, people are kind of on tenterhooks about the Supreme court and about, uh, what, where they're going to come down on.
00:05:33.020I guess your use of emergency powers to drive a lot of the trade deals, just given that the president came back from the UK and it turned out the second day, there was much bigger on economics than I thought it was going over there.
00:05:44.860I didn't think he tossed Starmer, a life preserver, which he essentially, he essentially did not that Starmer could, could not that even a life preserver by the president could save him, but, uh, your thoughts on where we stand, sir.
00:05:56.780Well, well, the UK, I mean, look there, I think per capita income is below that of Mississippi. I mean, it's, it's really low and it's all because of the illegal immigration and, and, you know, we knew kind of why Brexit came along.
00:06:13.020Let me say that, let me make a comment about this federal reserve thing. It's like, there's two really things you got to do there.
00:06:20.900You got to figure out where short-term interest rates are. And then there's this much, much heavier lift about sorting out how to, uh, undo the balance sheet, get, which got screwed up, start going back to the 2007, uh, great recession.
00:06:37.300Um, as far as the first thing, Steve, I mean, look, yeah, you don't need to do anything essentially to set interest rates other than to read the paper every day. I mean, that's the easiest job in the world. It's like, there's nothing mystical about that. They can dress it all up. They want in data, but I mean, that could be a side job to a shy job. I could have done that when I was a professor at UC Irvine, done it out there and make a phone call.
00:07:04.460On the day they're setting rates and say, put it at this. Um, so I, Scotty is like, he, he could do that in his sleep. Um, with respect to the court case, let me just say, I agree, uh, 110% with Donald Trump, that if the Supreme Court chooses not to support his IEPA powers, uh, it's going to be a catastrophe for this country.
00:07:31.720Because, because what we've learned, Steve, from the Trump tariffs this time around, uh, is two things. One is that they are highly successful in defending this country against unfair trade and bringing in investment here to onshore our factories and jobs.
00:07:51.280I mean, we're at $17 trillion, uh, of, uh, so far in investment. And that's, uh, bigger than the GDP of virtually most other countries around the world on an annual basis. I mean, it's just, it's just huge.
00:08:07.640Uh, as I've said before, uh, the court case, the appeal, uh, that was rejected, uh, at the appeals court level was a political decision. The seven people who voted, uh, against the president, uh, six of them were Democrats. It was a poorly written decision.
00:08:26.880And it stands in sharp contrast to the, the really thoughtful, uh, dissent by four of the judges led by this guy named Toronto. Um, and, uh, it's a roadmap essentially for the Supreme Court to rule in our favor, in America's favor, uh, on the key issues.
00:08:48.880Whether, uh, whether, uh, whether or not the, uh, tariffs are permanent, which they're not, whether or not you can use tariffs as a form of regulation of imports, which you can by the law and whether or not it's an emergency, uh, with respect to both the fentanyl crisis and with respect to the, uh, the trade deficit.
00:09:14.120So let's see what happens. But the Supreme Court wants to rule in our favor. It will be able to do so firmly grounded, uh, in the law. This is not politics anymore. It should not be politics. If we lose the ability to tariff, we're going to not be able to pay down our debt.
00:09:38.220That's the big epiphany. And there's so much support now on Capitol Hill among people who used to oppose us, uh, on, particularly on the Republican side, because they understand, yes, it addresses unfair trade, but it's also, um, a get out of debt jail free card that has literally no penalties for the American people.
00:10:01.880There's no inflation. There's no negative impact in growth. It's just the opposite. So that's a big picture, Steve. And we're bullish about what's going to happen, uh, in October on this.
00:10:14.780Tim, Tim Cook or Tim Apple as we refer to him actually said yesterday, uh, Apple put it out officially. There's been no price increase whatsoever, uh, on the iPhones because of the tariffs, which is, you know, the, I got to pivot because we're limited time.
00:10:29.780And I want to get to, I want to talk about your book and about your, your journey tomorrow. You're going to join us. So the audience knows us. We're going to be live Eastern daylight time from 10 AM to, I think, 8 PM, uh, from the, uh, from Cardinal stadium studio.
00:10:46.100Six B is going to pick up after that, I believe, but we're going to be there for like about 10 hours, um, to do, uh, both the religious service and Charlie's celebration of life.
00:10:54.980Dr. Vara will make sure that you can make it up to the, um, to the, uh, our studio, which will be in Cardinal stadium, which the real American voice team is building out right now.
00:11:05.200It'd be good to see you there personally. Since you never come to Washington anymore, you kind of leave us here in the deep swamp, uh, with a snorkel and, you know, but, um, look,
00:11:17.980dude, I got sucked in there for six months will be a celebration of, of, of Charlie's life. Um, we, we have, we are doing our, our, our grieving and that's, that's appropriate. Um,
00:11:32.360I would like to just say that the five stages of grief, uh, that we are going through has a sixth stage and that's accountability, uh, because if we don't hold these people accountable for all the things that they're doing to us, uh, then they're just going to keep doing it again.
00:11:52.800And the, the, the, the book, if I may, I went to prison. So you won't have to is really, uh, a wake up call to the American people that this war against MAGA, against Trump, against all of us, Steve, on our side of the fence, which is, which is the flyover country, middle of America, blue collar jobs.
00:12:16.760Um, it's an asymmetrical war on us, Steve, the left is doing to us what we don't do to them. And, and I went to prison. So you won't have to documents, uh, the range, you know, it starts with Dan Scavino and Mark Meadows, two, two folks I worked with in the white house.
00:12:38.760They didn't go to jail, but they had to pay millions of dollars in legal fees. And then you got John, uh, John Eastman and Jeff Clark, who were lawyers helping the president and they're trying to take away their livelihood, uh, and, and bar cards.
00:12:55.180And then you and me, Steve Mann and Peter Navarro go to prison for defending the constitutional separation of powers. And then Donald Trump, four courts, they try to put him in prison two times. They try to kill him.
00:13:09.240And now they've assassinated in the most cowardly way, uh, one of the great young minds, uh, and, and political organizers, uh, we've ever seen throughout the history, uh, of America. So we have to fight back. And look, the only way I know how to fight back is with the pen. The pen's mightier than a sword. I write books. I try to explain to people what's going on.
00:13:36.520And people need to understand if they can put you and me in prison, uh, they can, they can put all of us in prison. So I went to prison so you won't have to. It was a tagline from my speech at the Republican national convention. And I was simply like, come on America, please understand that if they can come for me, Bannon, Donald Trump, and then they took Charlie Kirk out and they go for John Eastman, Jeff Clark.
00:14:06.520Uh, just, uh, Rudy, uh, Rudy, America's mayor. They bankrupted that poor man. I mean, that's unforgivable. And they're whining, uh, now about, uh, Jimmy Kimmel.
00:14:19.520Hang, hang, hang, hang on a second. You're, you're coming out tomorrow. You're coming out tomorrow with the Washington contingent.
00:14:25.200Rudy, who we tried to make, we tried, we, we tried, we tried to get Rudy out there because of his injury in this car accident. He's, he, and he's going to join us for the broadcast.
00:14:35.280So we'll have the mayor on, we'll have Peter alive. Many of the person is his life. I'm going to ask Dr. Navarro stick around for a, just a minute or two on the other side to talk about.
00:14:45.280We've got a whole schedule of activity with Dr. Navarro that we want to you to make sure you get into your calendar. Dr. Savage, Dr. Brett, Dr. Navarro next in the war room.
00:14:56.360According to the department of energy, blackouts could increase by 10,000% over the next few years. It's because of massive energy demand from artificial intelligence data centers. We talk about that all the time here in the war room.
00:15:12.200And we have a fragile power grid. It just cannot keep up with that demand. I don't know about you, but I don't like the idea of being without power even for a day. That's why I got the grid doctor 3,300 from my Patriot supply.
00:15:25.920It's a powerful solar generator that runs refrigerators, AC units, medical devices, power tools, anything you need to write out a blackout.
00:15:35.120And right now for their Christmas in July event, they're including over $1,000 in free survival gear with your generator.
00:15:43.120Including emergency food supply, water filtration, survival tools, and more. You heard that right. Over $1,000 in free gear for a limited time.
00:15:53.760Head to mypatriotsupply.com slash Bannon. That's mypatriotsupply.com slash Bannon. And grab the Christmas in July bundle before it's gone.
00:16:03.320Blackouts are coming. Go to mypatriotsupply.com slash Bannon and get prepared today.

00:16:56.020From campuses to the national stage, Charlie inspired millions to stand boldly for faith, freedom, and country.
00:17:03.280Now, we reflect on his life, his mission, and the legacy he leaves behind.
00:17:09.300The evildoers responsible for my husband's assassination have no idea what they have done.
00:17:19.740When America needed a hero, God sent us a Charlie Kirk.
00:17:23.360Hosted by Steve Bannon, live coverage of Charlie Kirk's funeral service begins at 10 a.m. Eastern.
00:17:31.080Join us as we remember a life that will never be forgotten.
00:17:46.200White House Trade Advisor Peter Navarro went to prison in 2024, convicted of contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena from the January 6th Committee after being found guilty on two counts.
00:17:57.440In his new book, I Went to Prison So You Won't Have to, Peter Navarro lays out the Justice Department's case, his arrest and trial, and what it was like for him behind bars.
00:18:07.000People think you're in a dorm rather than a cell.
00:18:10.300It's like everybody told me there that they'd rather be in a cell because only you don't have to worry about one other guy.
00:18:16.680You know, there's this thing called the lock and the sock, right?
00:18:19.440You take a padlock, you throw it in a sock, and a lot of rough justice goes on like that.
00:18:25.840White House Trade Advisor and author Peter Navarro, Sunday night at 8 Eastern on C-SPAN's Q&A.
00:18:31.300You can listen to Q&A wherever you get your podcasts and on the C-SPAN Now app.
00:18:37.000Is that the difference between a camp and an actual prison?
00:19:22.100Peter, we've got to bounce because I've got time.
00:19:25.440Tomorrow, you're going to join us during the commemoration.
00:19:27.500You're actually going to come out with the D.C. contingent tomorrow, 8 o'clock tomorrow night.
00:19:32.600When our coverage finishes, we're going to go right into the C-SPAN book talk Q&A with Peter about the book.
00:19:39.620Dr. Navarro is going to join us Monday to give us his thoughts about what went down on Sunday
00:19:44.860and other things related to his accountability, which he says is the sixth stage of grief I agree with.
00:19:50.780And then on Tuesday night at 6 o'clock, our entire 6 o'clock show, it's going to be Dr. Navarro and myself going through the book
00:19:58.620and other things related to Charlie Kirk and this movement.
00:20:01.680So, Dr. Navarro, where do people go to get your writings?
00:20:05.100You're prolific, as usual, about defending the president's policies.
00:20:09.720You're the best we got on trade and the best I think we've ever had.
00:20:13.980And I've got to tell you, Charlie Kirk and that generation of young people, Peter Navarro works every day to make sure those jobs are coming back for them.
00:20:22.840And this is the linchpin of making sure that amazing generation, particularly young men from 18 to 30,
00:20:29.860which I think is the most based generation we've ever had, really get a shot at having the best jobs in the world created by the American economy.
00:20:38.660Dr. Navarro, where do people get you, sir, where they get the book?
00:20:41.040The important thing is tomorrow, Steve, at 8 p.m. Eastern and 11 p.m. again, C-SPAN will play the hour-long interview.
00:20:50.980And I really strongly encourage you to do that.
00:20:54.140The important thing now is to go to Amazon right now, buy.
00:20:58.340I went to prison so you won't have to.
00:21:01.360Get the book out because what we have to do is get the message out.
00:21:05.300If they can come for me and Steve and the rest of us, they can come for you.
00:21:10.320We have to hold these people accountable.
00:21:12.940You know, let's go to my Substack, peternavarro.substack.com.
00:21:16.620And it's going to be a great week talking with you, Steve, about all of this.
00:21:21.980I have my retro background here, by the way.
00:21:24.860I don't know if you noticed my homage to your original route, Steve.
00:22:35.100However, there was no rifle in his hand.
00:22:38.220Now, the Mauser does not break down very easily, incidentally, for those of you who know weapons.
00:22:43.300Something's wrong with the whole thing.
00:22:45.700They're trying to claim he removed the barrel from the Mauser and fit the receiver and stock in his backpack and barrel in his pants, like, all in two seconds.
00:22:56.960It is not easy to remove a Mauser barrel or index it after reinstalling and remain accurate.
00:23:06.960And, by the way, the photo of the rifle allegedly left in the woods has the barrel installed.
00:23:15.160So we're supposed to believe a guy is on the run after killing Charlie Kirk, and he pauses in the woods to reinstall a barrel, and then he leaves it for us to find, the FBI to find.
00:23:42.860Dr. Savage, you've got, particularly with President Trump, your close personal relationship with him, and you've got to go pretty far in the woods to hit your tripwire on this.
00:24:29.540Then the messaging between the alleged assassin and his trans roommate or his transitioning trans roommate, which would make him a trans trans roommate, seem to be very stilted.
00:24:43.960For kids that age, they don't talk that way.
00:24:46.500If you actually analyze the alleged messaging between the two of them, it doesn't seem like them.
00:24:54.420People of their age don't talk that way.
00:24:55.900In fact, someone did a complete analysis of that conversation.
00:25:00.760And it seems that it was an AI written text message between the assassin or the alleged assassin and his roommate based on style, objective analysis of the text tone, style, dialogue is formal with complete sentences, proper punctuation, and no slang emojis or abbreviations.
00:25:22.780It's typical of young adults texting casually.
00:25:29.420You know, there are a lot of smart people out there, Steve, who aren't in the government, who listen and watch, former intelligence operatives who are retired, who haven't lost their marbles, who are saying something's not right with the picture.
00:25:49.880But does it matter who did it at this point?
00:25:52.440The main thing is they killed the leader of the next generation of patriots, borders, language, culture, conservatives, kids who don't want their country to be taken away from them, kids who don't want America to become a piece of the EU or like the EU, or worse yet, devolve into Ukraine with a war.
00:31:58.040It was called the Paul Revere Society.
00:32:00.560We used to get groups together, 2,000 people, screaming patriots.
00:32:04.500They never heard anything like this in liberal Marin County, in liberal San Francisco, in Oakland.
00:32:10.560And I had to define what the Paul Revere Society stood for, which was, I said, borders, language, culture.
00:32:17.700It was right in the original cards of the PRS.
00:32:20.900And I said, a nation is defined by its borders, language, and culture.
00:32:27.040Now, there's not a nation on Earth, whether it be an island nation in the Caribbean, you name it, Trinidad, or the United States of America, that is not or should not be defined by its borders, language, and culture.
00:32:39.900Which is exactly why the internationalists have gone after our borders, and every border on the planet, George Soros, open border society, open border society.
00:32:54.080He turns us into a polyglot nation, a Tower of Babel, so people don't know what the hell they're talking about, and they can't communicate with each other, and then the elites can manipulate them.
00:33:17.220Culture would be the founding principles of our nation, which would be the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, if you want to just simplify it.
00:33:25.440And that message resonated with people, Stephen, because everybody can relate to BLC, borders, language, culture.
00:33:30.980And in Europe, look at Europe, look what's going on in Europe because of the elites, how they've destroyed every European nation, with people from Africa, people from the Middle East, who are raping their way across the continent, living on welfare.
00:33:47.660It's shocking to see the people being so suppressed with almost no reaction.
00:33:55.120You were talking before about the people reacting, I think, to Peter.
00:36:01.400Look, the 60s, it started coming unwound with the assassination of JFK and the cover-up where Americans really, you know, from that post-war generation really start to –
00:36:11.600and the greatest generation started to lose their confidence in American institutions.
00:36:16.580Doesn't that make your video the reason it went mega viral is that people are saying they go, Michael Savage, what Dr. Savage is saying is correct.
00:36:31.960The text messages are an insult to people's intelligence, an insult, a brazen insult.
00:36:36.480He's writing – they got the guy from ABC News, David Muir's, you know, reporter that's crying because, you know, he says, wow, it's so touching and so lovely what he said to his partner.
00:36:47.280He wrote a Shakespeare sonnet in the middle of this.
00:36:49.980So talk to us about how we bind together to make sure there's accountability here and we get to the bottom of, I believe, a vast conspiracy to assassinate and execute Charlie Kirk.
00:39:41.400I think we would say that, I don't want to give up the conversation, but I think, you know, you can see by the stuff we do on the show and where it goes that we make sure that our voice is heard.
00:40:12.900And I think there's so many people like you that have been key advisors and not even advisors, but setting the intellectual tone of the populist nationalist movement.
00:40:21.880We only got a couple of minutes real quickly.
00:41:09.900I felt point blank, no one has ever successfully fought a government and won in a court, in a court of law.
00:41:16.120Well, we got emails back and forth from then Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
00:41:23.120And Gordon Brown said, we have to balance the list, meaning there's enough Muslim terrorists on the list who are not permitted to enter England.
00:41:43.780I can't name names because we're not sure.
00:41:46.140Inside the Democrat Party, they communicated with the then secretary of whoever, Jackie Smith.
00:41:52.200And they made me the same, equal to Russian skinheads who had killed people in the streets.
00:42:00.720Hamas terrorists who had beaten the brains out of children, Jewish children on buses.
00:42:05.200How did that happen that a talk show host who, if he said anything like that, would have been thrown off the air before he finished the words?
00:42:14.200I never said those things that they accused me of.
00:42:18.300You know what I said that got them crazy?
00:42:20.180I said, what's going to happen if England becomes an Islamic country and they get a nuclear bomb?
00:42:29.080Would you rather see 100 million of us killed or 100 million of them killed?
00:42:34.560The Jake Tappers, the Wolf Blitzers, and people like that in the media jumped down my throat and said, Savage said kill 100 million Muslims.
00:43:37.260He's our wise man, a former CIA, Pentagon and White House advisor with an unmatched grasp of geopolitics and capital markets.
00:43:45.500Jim predicted Trump's Electoral College victory exactly 312 to 226, down to the actual number itself.
00:43:54.880Now he's issuing a dire warning about April 11th, a moment that could define Trump's presidency in your financial future.
00:44:01.920His latest book, Money GPT, exposes how AI is setting the stage for financial chaos, bank runs at lightning speeds, algorithm-driven crashes, and even threats to national security.
00:44:14.120Right now, war room members get a free copy of Money GPT when they sign up for Strategic Intelligence.
00:44:20.280This is Jim's flagship financial newsletter, Strategic Intelligence.
00:47:27.440Adam Smith's system of natural liberty is compatible with Christianity and liberty.
00:47:34.260Karl Marx, for the young people out there, and this is what Charlie spent his whole life on, right, was connecting all these ideas and all these dots that matter for your future.
00:48:02.480It ought to be the money supply, and that's it.
00:48:04.100I could go on forever, but we need to tear it down, get back to the basics of natural liberty, get rid of the federal government, return it to the states.
00:48:12.320When we've revolutionized a guy like Dave Bratt, we're winning.
00:50:16.460As Dave Bratt, hopefully I'm going to talk to Dr. Michael Savage.
00:50:19.020We're going to have so many people on, plus live from the stage with the religious ceremony, the religious commemoration, and then the celebration of life.
00:50:28.240President of the United States will be out there.
00:50:29.440I'm sure he's going to talk, give incredible remarks as he does in events like this.
00:50:35.860Mike Lindell is also going to join us.
00:50:37.380Mike, tomorrow you're going to join us for the commemoration, 10 hours live, wall-to-wall coverage, Real America's Voice, and the War Room.
00:50:46.880Our team on a Saturday is looking for a deal.
