Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio joins Sen. Kelly Ayotte (D-Ohio) to discuss the confirmation process for the new attorney general nominee for the Department of Justice, Patrick P. Blagojevic, who has been nominated by President Trump.
Transcript
00:00:00.000
Well, first let me say that President Trump has appointed an ambassador nominee for NATO,
00:00:04.940
which clearly indicates his role to engage in that.
00:00:11.180
Obviously, as you've mentioned, I was a co-sponsor of the law,
00:00:13.780
and so it's tough to say I'm not in support of a law that I hope to pass,
00:00:16.600
and that I think it's an important role for Congress to play,
00:00:18.580
because, frankly, it's not just about the withdrawal piece of it,
00:00:21.360
it's the contributions you make towards the power of the purse still resides with the Congress.
00:00:25.780
Now, maybe, as if confirmed, moving towards the executive branch,
00:00:33.680
I hope not, but ultimately I still recognize and understand that the power of the purse is with Congress,
00:00:40.760
Let me point on NATO one thing, and I think there's a misunderstanding about it.
00:00:44.020
The NATO alliance is a very important alliance.
00:00:47.100
I believe alliances can be, and it's been very useful.
00:00:49.280
Without the NATO alliance, there is no end to the Cold War.
00:00:51.900
In fact, without the NATO alliance, it's quite possible that much of what today, at the time,
00:00:57.120
today we know as Europe would have fallen victim to aggression.
00:01:03.080
But what's important for the United States is not just to have defense allies.
00:01:06.260
It's to have capable defense allies, allies who are capable of defending their region.
00:01:15.040
I'm stating a question to be asked, and that is,
00:01:17.140
should the role of the United States and NATO in the 21st century be the primary defense role
00:01:24.520
with countries in the region assuming more of that responsibility by contributing more?
00:01:28.620
Now, look, in fairness, and I think the further east you move in Europe,
00:01:31.720
the more money you see spent on the military as a percentage of GDP.
00:01:35.000
But I think there's been broad acknowledgement across Europe and across multiple administrations,
00:01:40.960
both Republican and Democrat, that our NATO partners, these are rich, advanced economies,
00:01:45.420
need to contribute more to their own defense and ultimately to the NATO partnership as well.
00:01:50.680
And that's a demand that's been made by multiple presidents across the years.
00:01:54.420
And the fact that that is true has been revealed by what's happened with Ukraine.
00:01:59.980
Look at the ramp-up in defense spending and the industrial capacity of multiple countries in Europe
00:02:06.460
Imagine if that capacity had been there before,
00:02:08.980
it quite possibly might have had a deterrent effect as well.
00:02:11.820
So I think it's important that we have alliances,
00:02:14.000
but we have to have alliances with strong and capable partners
00:02:16.660
and not those who sort of have viewed the U.S. and the NATO defense agreement
00:02:22.440
as an excuse to spend less on defense and more on some domestic needs.
00:02:27.220
These advanced and rich countries in Western Europe have enormous safety nets programs that they fund.
00:02:33.640
We have domestic needs as well, but they've been able to divert or grow those programs
00:02:38.300
because they don't have to spend as much on defense as we do as a percentage of our overall economy.
00:02:44.360
And I expect that President Trump will continue to forcefully make that point.
00:02:47.440
And as you know, this committee and the Senate NATO Observer Group,
00:02:52.780
which I co-chair, has made that point repeatedly,
00:02:55.500
and we are now up to 23 of the 32 NATO nations who are meeting their 2 percent of GDP,
00:03:01.180
and we have a number of them who are going beyond that, and it's appropriate.
00:03:05.640
We're going to shift back to Justice and Pam Bondi, Amy Klobuchar's question.
00:03:12.380
It will be my job, if confirmed, as Attorney General, to make those decisions.
00:03:21.140
I've demonstrated that my entire career as a prosecutor, as Attorney General,
00:03:26.240
and I will continue to do that if you confirm me as the 87th Attorney General of the United States of America.
00:03:33.140
And in an earlier question, some of my colleagues talked about China and the risk,
00:03:39.480
yet you have a nominee from this incoming administration, Kash Patel,
00:03:45.040
the pick to head the FBI of serious concerns about him,
00:03:51.160
which is responsible for protecting us from foreign adversaries like China.
00:03:56.660
As, quote, the biggest problem the FBI has had,
00:04:00.360
and he said that he wants to, quote, break that component out of the FBI.
00:04:09.800
I would review them, but we have to do everything we can to protect our country.
00:04:14.960
Again, Mr. Patel would fall under me and the Department of Justice,
00:04:19.780
and I will ensure that all laws are followed, and so will he.
00:04:23.800
There are many decisions made by the FBI director,
00:04:28.660
having seen a number of them do their work, that can be made.
00:04:32.360
While I agree you would be the boss of Kash Patel,
00:04:35.520
I'm not sure that you would be able to intervene with every decision or position that he had
00:04:41.740
Do you agree it is a duty of the Justice Department to defend the laws Congress passes,
00:04:46.700
and will you commit to do even when the president may disagree with an act campaigned against its passage
00:04:55.860
President Reagan's AG, William French Smith, said the department policy was,
00:05:01.640
the department has the duty to defend an act of Congress whenever a reasonable argument can be made in its support.
00:05:07.760
So I am specifically referring to the 2022 law that I long led that we passed to empower Medicare to negotiate drug prices,
00:05:18.060
Will you commit to defend the law against the lawsuits from Big Pharma?
00:05:23.620
Senator, I was involved in Big Pharma cases when I was Attorney General of the state of Florida,
00:05:28.600
and I will commit to protect the laws of the United States of America.
00:05:35.820
That would also, same question, with the Supreme Court is going to be hearing a challenge to the Affordable Care Act's
00:05:42.420
coverage of preventative services, and despite the fact that you twice joined suits to have the entire Affordable Care Act
00:05:50.700
invalidated, will you commit to defending this law?
00:05:59.160
It's not the entire Affordable Care Act, but I will, it's pending litigation, of course, within the department.
00:06:06.440
Since the 1990s, the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act has protected patients,
00:06:12.880
providers, and facilities that provide reproductive health services.
00:06:17.420
Will you commit to continuing to enforce the FACE Act to address violence and threats
00:06:21.960
against those providing reproductive health care services?
00:06:25.240
Senator, the FACE Act not only protects abortion clinics, but it also protects pregnancy centers
00:06:42.360
I'll uphold the enforcement of the law, Senator.
00:06:45.640
Okay, and I will ask my antitrust questions in the next round.
00:06:50.720
We're going to go back to Rubio, talking about Ukraine.
00:06:58.640
Putin's goal now is to have maximum leverage so that he can basically impose neutrality on Ukraine,
00:07:04.200
retrofit, and come back and do this again in four or five years.
00:07:06.800
And that's not an outcome I think any of us would favor.
00:07:09.880
By the same token, I think it's important that the Ukrainians have leverage,
00:07:13.360
but they also will have to make concessions to reach this agreement.
00:07:18.520
Conflicts of this nature that have historical underpinnings to it are going to require a lot of hard diplomacy and tough work.
00:07:28.480
Well, I'm out of time, but I appreciate your last comment about the importance of leverage.
00:07:35.440
And it's important for the United States to do what we can to help provide that leverage to Ukraine
00:07:40.880
so that they can be in the best negotiating position possible with Russia.
00:07:50.420
Well, Senator Rubio, congratulations on your nomination to this very, very difficult job.
00:07:55.120
I want to thank you for your previous service in the U.S. Senate and your willingness to take on this job, should you be confirmed.
00:08:02.260
And I also want to thank your family as well for their support for you to be able to be a U.S. Senator
00:08:09.380
and to apply for this job as Secretary of State.
00:08:12.620
And I want also to express my gratitude to all the members of the State Department.
00:08:19.380
We have a lot of people who choose to serve our country overseas, spend time away from their friends and family,
00:08:26.760
You're taking over a department that's very, very important to us.
00:08:31.060
On Sunday, Jake Sullivan, the President Biden's National Security Advisor, said, quote,
00:08:37.140
The American people are safer and the country is better off than we were four years ago.
00:08:44.200
The American people are safer and the country is better off than four years ago.
00:08:54.360
I think the election results demonstrate the vast majority of Americans don't believe that.
00:09:03.440
Inflation has hurt average American's pocketbooks.
00:09:07.400
Open border policies have put Americans at risk.
00:09:16.320
In fact, Senator Rubio, should you be confirmed,
00:09:22.040
you're being handed a job at a time when this country is in the most danger we've been in since World War II.
00:09:32.060
It's a very dangerous time in the world, and your opening remarks demonstrate that you know that.
00:09:43.300
President Biden started this with a disaster withdrawal from Afghanistan, that projected weakness.
00:09:50.480
And an incomprehension of what it means to have a policy of deterrence.
00:09:58.000
Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine and started the largest war in Europe since World War II after that withdrawal.
00:10:04.420
I believe it was because he saw weakness in this Biden administration.
00:10:10.380
It's been the president's fear of helping Ukraine that has contributed to putting them in the untenable position they are today
00:10:18.580
by slow-rolling the weapons that Ukraine needs to be able to defend themselves.
00:10:24.420
His incomprehensible and incoherent policy has caused him to handcuff American liquid natural gas exports
00:10:32.500
while delaying tough sanctions on the Russian oil and gas industry,
00:10:36.400
which, as you know, is the lifeblood of the Russian war machine.
00:10:46.440
Biden naively tried to resurrect the Iran nuclear deal,
00:10:49.060
enabling the regime to generate $100 billion in oil revenue.
00:10:54.920
And I want to point out that during the Trump administration, because of sanctions,
00:10:59.380
Iran's foreign reserves fell from $122 billion to less than $14 billion.
00:11:05.540
That hampered their ability to be able to fund terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah and the Houthis.
00:11:11.420
What the Biden administration has done is allowed the Iranian regime to enrich enough weapons-grade uranium
00:11:19.280
to be a week or two away from having a nuclear weapon.
00:11:25.420
And since October 7th, President Biden has not supported Israel in the way he's needed.
00:11:32.060
And because of the previous mentioned money that he's allowed the Iranians to have
00:11:36.400
that has funded the terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah,
00:11:46.080
Thankfully, Israel's had the courage to stand up to these terrorists
00:11:51.580
And it's led to the decimation of Hamas and Hezbollah.
00:11:55.320
But no amount of revisionist history could change the fact that...
00:12:14.780
We have the situation down in Western North Carolina and Tennessee.
00:12:18.080
And I'm going to cut away in a moment and go to Ben Burkwam.
00:12:28.860
But hey, if Pete Rickards is going to give a speech,
00:12:30.460
if he's going to filibuster, we'll go to Pam Bondi.
00:12:32.100
Private communications that have been intercepted and stored through incidental collection
00:12:37.620
have been searched without those safeguards being met,
00:12:41.620
including instances where people just wanted to check on, to cite one example,
00:12:49.880
or in other instances doing background checks on someone looking to lease an apartment that he owned
00:13:01.880
we have seen over the last few years the weaponization of government,
00:13:11.320
Law-abiding Americans whose offense was something along the lines of,
00:13:15.400
you know, them exercising their constitutional rights,
00:13:18.220
ranging from Catholics attempting to practice their faith,
00:13:22.320
to parents showing up to school board meetings,
00:13:25.800
to people showing up to engage in peaceful protesting outside of abortion clinics.
00:13:32.540
how will you prevent the weaponization of the Department of Justice against Americans?
00:13:37.300
And, Senator, you just gave the classic example of what's been happening regarding the weaponization.
00:13:44.920
Going after parents at a school board meeting has got to stop.
00:13:52.100
sending informants in to Catholic churches must stop.
00:13:57.400
What about branding parents as domestic terrorists
00:13:59.880
or trying to incarcerate one's political opponent as a sitting president of the United States?
00:14:08.460
It is exactly the sort of answer I was hoping and expecting to receive from you,
00:14:12.860
and I look forward to doing everything I can to help get you confirmed.
00:14:22.460
and look forward to the great things you will do as Attorney General of the United States.
00:14:33.680
Welcome, Attorney General Bondi, and to your family and supporters.
00:14:37.420
Thank you for your service, and I look forward to our conversation today.
00:14:40.560
I have a simple three-factor test when considering the executive branch nominees before us.
00:14:45.900
Do you have the qualifications and experience to do the job, policy views to do the job in the best interest of the American people,
00:14:51.780
and the character and integrity to conduct your job, and yours in particular, with the independence that the role requires?
00:15:01.520
I understand we will not see eye to eye on some or even many policies,
00:15:05.780
but we had a constructive conversation last week about our shared interest in fighting the opioid epidemic,
00:15:11.460
countering human trafficking, criminal justice reform, and supporting law enforcement.
00:15:15.840
But I need to know that you share a core value,
00:15:19.460
ensuring the Department of Justice remains free from partisan or political influence,
00:15:25.480
So I look forward to our discussion about that today.
00:15:28.700
As Attorney General, if confirmed, who would be your client?
00:15:33.600
My oath would be to support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.
00:15:49.700
A simple question of constitutional interpretation.
00:15:53.320
Is President-elect Trump eligible to run for another term as President in 2028?
00:15:58.700
No, Senator, not unless they change the Constitution.
00:16:05.480
One of the concerns I've raised with you is safeguarding the Department of Justice's independence
00:16:10.820
in the face of some promises on the campaign trail by then-candidate Trump
00:16:16.040
that he would use the Department to target his political adversaries
00:16:22.980
What would you do if your career DOJ prosecutors came to you with a case to prosecute,
00:16:29.720
grounded in the facts and law, but the White House directs you to drop the case?
00:16:34.940
Senator, if I thought that would happen, I would not be sitting here today.
00:16:45.660
Every case will be prosecuted based on the facts and the law that is applied in-
00:16:58.980
One of the most horrifying things happening on the planet.
00:17:01.380
And for years, no one talked about it, which, by the way, not just has a human rights component to it,
00:17:06.140
it allows them to use slave labor to produce goods at the expense of the rest of the world.
00:17:11.900
Talk about not just a horrific humanitarian crisis, but an unfair trade practice as well.
00:17:18.160
And frankly, the Chinese did what any country in the world would do given these opportunities.
00:17:22.380
They took advantage of it, and so I think now we're dealing with the ramifications of it.
00:17:27.180
I agree 100% what you said, but I remind you, and I remind everyone, I guess I want to make this point,
00:17:32.060
that much of what we need to do to confront China is here at home.
00:17:37.620
We have to rebuild our domestic industrial capacity,
00:17:40.280
and we have to make sure that the United States is not reliant on any single other nation
00:17:46.320
And with four seconds left, how are you going to explain that to your average American,
00:17:51.300
that we need this all-size society approach, and to your point exactly,
00:17:57.200
so that people from my state, Nebraska, will understand and get on board?
00:18:01.660
If we stay on the road we're on right now, in less than 10 years,
00:18:06.100
virtually everything that matters to us in life will depend on whether China will allow us to have it or not.
00:18:10.840
Everything from the blood pressure medicine we take to what movies we get to watch,
00:18:15.380
and everything in between, we will depend on China for it.
00:18:18.220
They have come to dominate the critical mineral industry supplies throughout the world.
00:18:23.600
Everywhere in the world they've now established critical mineral rights.
00:18:26.440
Even those who want to see more electric cars, no matter where you make them,
00:18:29.400
those batteries are almost entirely dependent on the ability of the Chinese,
00:18:33.300
and the willingness of the Chinese Communist Party to produce it and export it to you.
00:18:37.360
So if we don't change course, we are going to live in a world
00:18:40.140
where much of what matters to us on a daily basis, from our security to our health,
00:18:44.440
will be dependent on whether the Chinese allow us to have it or not.
00:18:57.860
Thank you, Mr. Chair, and thank you, Senator Rubio.
00:19:00.620
And I've enjoyed working with you on the Congressional Executive Commission on China,
00:19:04.320
which engages in many issues related to their treatment of folks from the Tibetans to the Uyghurs,
00:19:12.040
to their position regarding Hong Kong and Taiwan.
00:19:18.520
I had the chance to go to Taiwan in 20, well, the year 2000.
00:19:24.020
and it was the first one where people were becoming convinced
00:19:25.900
that they actually might be able to hold a democracy.
00:19:28.900
I believe they've earned the right to have a voice in international affairs,
00:19:33.400
and I also believe that they are at great risk right now
00:19:37.300
with mainland China Xi's plan to be aggressive militarily towards them,
00:19:47.080
Will you support your role as Secretary of State?
00:19:50.480
Taiwan's right to have a voice in international affairs,
00:19:59.460
providing that we will supply them with defense articles
00:20:05.060
and defense services in such quantity as may be necessary
00:20:09.220
to enable Taiwan to maintain a sufficient self-defense capability?
00:20:12.980
By the way, that phrase is from the 1979 Taiwan Relations Act.
00:20:18.540
Yeah, let me just point out that on the Taiwan Relations Act,
00:20:21.340
and I believe that the year 2016 I was the lead Republican sponsor
00:20:27.040
I think that the multiple or consecutive presidential administrations
00:20:34.340
that the policy of the United States towards Taiwan is encapsulated
00:20:37.600
not just in the Taiwan Relations Act but in the six assurances
00:20:40.200
that multiple administrations, including the Trump administration
00:20:43.200
and now the Biden administration, have made clear our policies.
00:20:46.120
With regards to your second point about international forums,
00:20:49.200
ASEAN is a great example of one in which that's being tested.
00:21:08.640
to make sure that no one associated with Taiwan
00:21:11.640
So this is just one more example of how they're being excluded.
00:21:18.720
The majority of nations on Earth that continue to recognize
00:21:33.180
then they got Panama to convince the Dominican Republic to flip.
00:21:40.100
So I think that's an important thing for us to keep in mind
00:21:44.180
And I also think it's important to recognize allies in the region
00:21:49.040
and others who have stayed strong in that regard.
00:21:59.880
But let me just say that on the porcupine strategy,
00:22:14.080
yes, could they ultimately win an invasion of Taiwan,
00:22:22.860
to preventing a cataclysmic military intervention
00:22:31.160
and again, I don't mean to want to be alarmist about it,
00:22:40.200
don't read the English translation that they put out
00:22:42.240
because the English translation is never right.
00:22:45.680
on what they actually said in their native tongue.
00:22:53.600
and definitional issue for Xi Jinping personally.
00:22:57.640
I think we need to wrap our head around the fact
00:23:11.060
And so strongly support for the porcupine strategy.
00:23:22.620
and I met with the president and other leaders,
00:23:38.680
And I take your point about the current stalemate
00:23:42.540
and the fact that there is a range of objectives
00:24:14.120
for democracy and a catastrophe for the Ukrainians.
00:24:35.460
that exists beyond military capabilities as well.
00:24:46.100
And that will have to be part of this conversation
00:24:47.740
in terms of bringing about a peaceful resolution.
00:24:51.500
of the long-term security and stability of Ukraine.
00:25:02.080
And it's a point that I made back as far as 2014
00:25:04.160
when the United States under the Obama administration
00:25:21.000
which means threatening people here in the United States
00:25:28.780
if they exercise their free rights here in our country.
00:25:41.880
and Thailand is on the verge of repatriating them
00:41:28.740
We need help to rebuild houses and put people back in their homes.
00:41:35.820
We still have people living in tents and makeshift shelters.
00:41:40.660
It's going to be six degrees this weekend down here.
00:41:42.960
It's been below 20 for the past seven or eight days.
00:41:47.080
We've had, you know, not in this past, but we've had kids die and, you know, people are
00:41:58.540
They don't have the FEMA campers that were supposed to be given out.
00:42:04.800
We need a way to keep people warm and keep people fed.
00:42:09.020
You know, we need fuel for generators because you can only run a generator for so long with
00:42:19.220
We need literally everything that we needed when it first happened.
00:42:22.600
I mean, it hasn't gotten any better since it started.
00:42:28.100
We thought it was going to, you know, taper off a little bit.
00:42:30.860
Four months into it, we're still serving 60 to 120 people a day.
00:42:38.560
That's just our organization that's helping that many people.
00:42:42.320
There's hundreds of thousands of more people out there that need it.
00:42:45.720
I mean, we've lost between 140 to 180,000 houses between North Carolina and Tennessee.
00:42:55.900
You know, if you apply for FEMA and you even get money, you're getting $40,000.
00:43:01.880
$43,000 is a slap in the face for a total lost house that was, you know, that would cost
00:43:12.800
Misty, if President Trump was watching this, what's priority one, two, three?
00:43:17.260
Priority one, two, three is vehicles, replacing vehicles so people can stand on their own
00:43:27.240
We have 418 people right now just on our list on the Tennessee side alone that needs some
00:43:34.400
Maybe we have 125 that are just complete rebuilds that are completely demolished and cannot repair.
00:43:39.180
And then, probably long-term care for finances to be able to get on their feet.
00:43:45.260
When you lose everything, it's more than just like a shot in the arm for an injection.
00:43:51.840
You need support to be able to get back on your feet.
00:43:54.440
You know, helping with utilities, money for, you know, groceries, things like that.
00:43:59.240
People don't take into consideration what it costs to live if you have to start from scratch.
00:44:04.140
And when you take away somebody's employment, you take away their vehicle, you take away
00:44:07.840
their house, and already you're in a lower-income area, people can't pull their bootstraps up
00:44:15.720
And most of these people, because we're going into our four-month, even the people that had
00:44:19.520
complete devastation that took the buyout for the $40,000, they've had to live on that
00:44:23.220
money for the last, you know, going into our fourth month now.
00:44:25.980
They're not going to have enough money to put a deposit down on another house to buy a house.
00:44:29.840
There's, we have a lack of houses to buy in our area to begin with.
00:44:33.040
And when you have a housing, you lose 300 jobs in an area.
00:44:38.220
We have over 1,000 homes just on the Tennessee side, I think, that were damaged or lost.
00:44:42.160
And so there's, you've got to have something more than just putting a Band-Aid on something.
00:44:47.480
You've got to have some care come in, and you've got to have people that are skilled to do this.
00:44:53.380
We were meant to be help, a hand up, and an injection into the community to help the larger
00:44:58.340
organizations to pick up where they should have picked up at and we should have left off at.
00:45:09.760
Where do they go to find out more about the efforts that you guys are doing?
00:45:13.460
Do they want to find out, get more information?
00:45:18.420
Our address is 901 North Main Avenue, Irwin, Tennessee, 37650.
00:45:25.860
You can reach out to us on Facebook, the Appalachian United Initiative.
00:45:36.240
A few different avenues of getting in touch with us, Instagram, TikTok, every social media
00:46:00.520
Let's go to, is it Mandy and James are not up there?
00:46:09.420
Tell us exactly what the problem is down there and how can this audience help and how can
00:46:19.320
I got reached out to this morning by a lady that's going to donate some property to put
00:46:30.260
As far as the other, I'm looking forward to Monday.
00:46:33.920
So, Mandy and James, tell us the punch list for President Trump.
00:46:40.820
What is President Trump's team, his new FEMA team?
00:46:54.200
There's over 50 campers up here and over 100 people.
00:46:57.560
And I've linked you with multiple hubs and camps that are very much similar.
00:47:05.000
We talked about, you know, a 12 by 16 structure that when you get up in the middle of the night
00:47:09.320
to use the restroom and you open the door and all the heat escapes and you have to start
00:47:13.100
all over again with your wood stove or whatever your heating source is before you can even
00:47:18.300
If you have children in the home and you have to use the facilities, let's say, for something
00:47:22.400
a little more serious, you know, one, two, and are you doing that in a bucket in front
00:47:28.320
I mean, we need replacement housing that is sufficient for families to live in, not one
00:47:39.820
But in James's situation up here at Haven on the Hill, you know, they're boondocking.
00:47:45.780
You got two gentlemen at 55-gallon drums, hand-pumping fuel into gas cans to go put in
00:47:53.200
their neighbor's camper so that they can start the generator to start their coffee.
00:48:00.780
Where did people go toāwe had good luck last night with some folks.
00:48:13.600
So I have Mighty Fortress Ministries, which is a 501c3 up here.
00:48:22.980
I put mine out there for everybody, which is 865-296-8805.
00:48:41.240
It may take us a little while because our phones are always ringing, but they reach
00:48:45.080
out and we do whatever we can to help them, and we answer every phone call.
00:48:49.980
It may take us at the end of the day to get back to them, but we make sure that every
00:48:56.640
You said you go to Haven on the Hill on Facebook, or is it a website?
00:49:05.060
Can we have the phone number one more time, slowly this time, so people can jot it down?
00:49:27.300
Jason, can you tell us your situation in Swannanoa?
00:49:30.480
We, right now, are currently running a hub out of Swannanoa, North Carolina, Black Mountain
00:49:40.780
We started IR501C directly after this happened.
00:49:44.580
We were in one of the hardest hit areas, but whenever you say hardest hit, you look around,
00:49:50.440
But we have been running a hub out of there, Valley Strong Disasterly, for the last 111 days
00:50:02.580
We have people that are being supplied by the people.
00:50:09.700
There's been no pickup hardly other than just by independent sources.
00:50:21.680
I mean, this is one of the most beautiful parts of the country, Black Mountain.
00:50:25.100
Why have no federal officials or no state officials been all over this?
00:50:33.860
I mean, you know, you can answer that as well as us.
00:50:36.580
Everywhere that we go, it's done by the people.
00:50:44.620
Or we would be way worse than what we are right now.
00:50:55.620
Where do people go to find out more about your hub and to find out more about how they
00:51:21.620
We provide propane, all kinds of the needs that the people are looking for.
00:51:28.620
So, man, no excuse for this, but this will change next Monday, but between now and then.
00:51:37.780
One more time, Jason, where do they go to find out more about your situation?
00:51:47.520
Jason Ward and Swannanoa, thank you very much, sir.
00:51:53.400
I realize everything falls back on this audience, but this is just not acceptable.
00:51:58.620
I mean, and you see Los Angeles, and the thing in Los Angeles is horrific, but the thing
00:52:03.040
in Los Angeles is not just simply a natural disaster.
00:52:06.920
The situation in Los Angeles is criminal negligence by government officials.
00:52:13.040
You had Josh Pettit on the other day talking about that, this interlinking environmental
00:52:17.320
groups and commissions that have locked things in.
00:52:20.420
You've got a governor that should be recalled immediately and replaced.
00:52:23.300
You've got a mayor that just ought to be fired.
00:52:24.780
And, you know, the Justice Department, there shouldn't be a penny that goes out there in
00:52:30.500
disaster relief until we get some things right and find out, you know, particularly
00:52:34.760
the arrogance of California officials about sanctuary cities and being a sanctuary state.
00:52:41.920
Not one penny can go into California if they're diverting money for sanctuary cities and they're
00:52:48.000
I think they got a $50 million fund to resist President Trump.
00:52:55.840
I think, Jason, are you on the Virginia side of North Carolina and Tennessee, sir?
00:53:01.140
We're actually, we have folks that are working up in that area.
00:53:07.740
But we're headquartered out of McDowell County or Marion, North Carolina.
00:53:15.380
Well, so the situation, just like everybody else described, it's bad, right?
00:53:21.300
It's all, it's a matter of, you know, neighbors helping neighbors, right?
00:53:25.520
The only thing we get is what we can provide for ourselves, what people are willing to bring
00:53:28.780
us from other parts of the country, whether it be canned goods, whether it be campers,
00:53:32.860
whatever it is, that's the only way that we're surviving down here.
00:53:38.040
Now, I'm going to ask you, why, this is what's so shocking on, you know, these three,
00:53:47.500
That's Biden, and I'm sure that's payback from the Biden folks.
00:53:53.080
What about local, what about the state governments?
00:53:56.060
Well, you know, unfortunately, I believe there's a lot of people that are still playing politics
00:54:02.180
I think it's coming down to the fact that, you know, from the scarcity that we've witnessed,
00:54:16.520
Jason, where do people go to find out more about you, your efforts, your organization,
00:54:23.760
Yeah, go to projectyourhome.com, or you can go to Project Your Home on any of the social
00:54:31.920
And we even have an app, Project Your Home app, where you can apply for housing and get
00:54:36.020
other resources, perhaps being updated almost daily with additional resources for everybody
00:54:50.880
Back to wrap it up in the Worm in the Morning edition.
00:54:57.740
Are you tired of progressive corporations that continue to further alienate conservative Americans,
00:55:03.280
all the while eroding the future of the American dream?
00:55:07.060
Companies like Starbucks, strong army customers to support abortion, or PayPal canceling accounts
00:55:13.700
over political views, Maybelline making a mockery of women by supporting transgender models,
00:55:19.240
and Bud Light forcing gender ideology on you when all you want is to enjoy a cold beer?
00:55:25.700
But thanks to Public Square, you don't have to fund companies like this any longer.
00:55:30.300
Public Square connects you to tens of thousands of businesses that share your value for life,
00:55:36.960
Whether you're looking to buy coffee, find a new athletic brand that knows what a woman
00:55:41.240
is, shop for clean skin care, or just find a restaurant in your community that won't lecture
00:55:53.500
Plus, you get discounts to many of the high-quality businesses on the platform.
00:55:57.180
Start spending your hard-earned money on companies that don't hate you.
00:56:03.380
Start spending your money on companies that hate you.
00:56:08.000
Join me and millions of patriotic Americans who love truth, our country, and our constitution
00:56:15.220
Download the app now or visit the site at PublicSquare.com.
00:56:37.800
Let's go to Ted Cruz with Pam Bondi real quickly.
00:56:40.520
We'll come back and wrap up and tell you what we're going to do during the day and tonight
00:56:49.880
I have to say Javert from Les Mis would be chagrined at the efforts of Democrats to do anything
00:57:01.040
And I believe the real target in this was not President Trump, but it was the American people,
00:57:05.560
that these prosecutions were brought because partisan prosecutors were terrified that the
00:57:13.480
American people would do exactly what they did in November of 2024 and vote to re-elect Donald J.
00:57:26.100
Will you commit every day as Attorney General to follow the law, to follow the Constitution,
00:57:40.860
to uphold the rule of law without favor and without regard to the partisan position of any
00:57:52.660
That's what we should all expect from an Attorney General.
00:58:06.580
As soon as you tell me about Rubio, we'll go back to him.
00:58:10.380
We're going to conclude our coverage here in about five or six minutes.
00:58:13.720
We're going to pass right over to the Charlie Kirk show.
00:58:17.400
Real America's Voice, Parker and Rob Sieg, have worked this out.
00:58:21.700
Charlie will be covering a lot of this this afternoon.
00:58:39.840
One of the first goals of the caucus that Senator Gary Peters and I created of Central Asia is to repeal the Jackson-Vanik label on the region and extend permanent normal trade relations with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
00:58:51.540
I realize you have a lot of priorities on your plate when you will be confirmed as our secretary.
00:58:57.480
But I would say rescinding it would be a good faith indication of the Jackson-Vanik requirements that Central Asia needs right now to grow.
00:59:05.080
My question is, would you work with me and Senator Peters to have your team work with us to remove this designation?
00:59:12.380
Yeah, and I believe the permanent removal will require legislative action.
00:59:16.340
I don't think Senator Murphy has a bill on that as well.
00:59:20.120
Look, I think this is a relic of an era that's passed.
00:59:22.540
There are some that argue that we should use it as leverage for human rights concessions or leverage to get them to go stronger in our way as opposed to Russia and the like.
00:59:30.320
But I think in some cases it's an absurd relic of the past.
00:59:35.500
I think it's Kazakhstan, who the Department of Commerce has already said is a market economy.
00:59:40.080
In fact, I think they hosted the WTO ministerial just a couple years ago.
00:59:47.960
So we will work with you on this because I think it's important.
00:59:52.140
I look forward to working with Senator Murphy on this.
00:59:54.600
You know, that C5 plus 1, which is Central Asian countries, plus the United States.
00:59:57.920
I hope we can work with President Trump, actually, to think about maybe hosting some kind of a summit there.
01:00:03.000
Very strategic after the withdrawal from Afghanistan.
01:00:16.260
Let's get these over the top, get them confirmed.
01:00:18.800
Democrats are trying to take shots, cheap shots.
01:00:21.900
But I can tell you all three are hanging in there.
01:00:25.540
You don't see the ā what they're trying to do is chop Pam up on reporting to the president.
01:00:30.780
They're trying to chop her up on the 2020 election.
01:00:33.620
They're trying to chop her up on J6, particularly the party.
01:00:44.980
He's handling ā you see right there, he's handling these questions like a pro.
01:00:51.180
They're going to try to get him on NATO and other things.
01:00:53.080
But I'm sure Senator Rubio holds his own Ratcliffe hanging in there also.
01:00:57.340
But the CIA needs almost as big a reorganization and deconstruction as the FBI.
01:01:02.940
So I hope these ā I know what it takes to get confirmed, but I hope these people are still focused on mission.
01:01:08.080
You see the situation in ā where the deplorables are, where MAGA is, in Georgia, in North Carolina, that part of Virginia, Appalachian part of Virginia, and also Tennessee?
01:01:20.880
So we're going to get with Ben after the show, figure out what we can do.
01:01:24.200
And look, this should be the federal and state government.
01:01:26.800
People rely upon you guys, and the charity you give is unbelievable.
01:01:29.980
But this is what's carried these people so far is individual charity, right?
01:01:33.940
When governments should have stepped in, this is why you pay taxes.
01:01:40.580
Mike, they're coming at ā now, listen, they're coming after Lindell.
01:01:44.180
They're trying to chop him up every way possible.
01:01:49.200
Because he's selling these crosses that are selling out nonstop, so they're all over him on that.
01:01:53.860
Tell me about that, Mike, and then tell me what else you got for the audience today.
01:02:00.100
Cash Strap Mega Pillow Entrepreneur Mike Lindell is now selling my cross necklaces.
01:02:05.020
It goes on, and this is the only place ā remember, this has been a War Room exclusive, everybody.
01:02:10.560
And then it goes on to say that I'm a conspiracy theorist and bash me through the article.
01:02:17.460
It's getting good advertisement for our crosses that I put on sale for the War Room posse.
01:02:25.320
The women's has the Mother of Pearl look on one side, and then the black is reversible.
01:02:42.260
What better thing to do than attack me for selling a cross?
01:02:51.680
You guys have been our greatest supporters at MyPillow.
01:02:54.520
And if you go to the website, you go and scroll down ā oh, and there you go.
01:02:59.540
By the way, I did not get the flannel sheets changed, so you guys get them.
01:03:03.860
We're going to ā I found out that as I was coming on air here.
01:03:11.520
I didn't get that done, so you guys still get the queens, $59.98, kings, $69.98.
01:03:22.440
There you have the beds and all the stuff we have on sale that we leave on sale every day for the War Room Posse.
01:03:36.340
They're downstairs telling me you want one of the great MyCrosses.
01:03:42.600
I mean, if they picked a ā I think they've crossed a line here.
01:03:48.360
The Independent was the first one that called me this morning to attack.
01:03:53.160
I wondered how they were going to spin this attack.
01:03:55.600
Every time I come on the War Room show, they attack me.
01:04:03.500
But I know the Warren Posse and the Cadres, everything, love the Crosses.
01:04:09.520
I know people are very appreciative of you doing it.
01:04:15.580
Scroll down until you see Steve and click on Steve.
01:04:21.840
Only promo code War Room is going to get you 30% off on these Crosses.
01:04:31.100
And then you have the flannel sheets still on sale, everybody, for right now.
01:04:36.220
We didn't get them taken down as low as $44.98.
01:04:41.040
The last few hours of that, King $69.98, Queen $59.98.
01:04:47.500
We're going to be coming out with the new commercials for the Crosses,
01:05:02.200
Very sobering down there in the heart of MAGA country.
01:05:09.900
This FEMA situation, the quote-unquote running out of cash,
01:05:13.540
tomorrow you're going to have Scott Besant up on his confirmation hearing.
01:05:18.340
This is why I go to Birch Gold now to get the birchgold.com slash Bannon
01:05:24.980
You're seeing the constraints on the U.S. government.
01:05:28.280
You're going to have a quarter of a trillion dollars, $250 billion out in California.
01:05:34.000
And first, you got to get off this radical theory of modern monetary theory.
01:05:37.760
It got us into this place because the lords of easy money, the oligarchs in Silicon Valley,
01:05:45.560
It's on your shoulders to get us out of here, folks.
01:05:50.020
I hate to put another burden on you, but that's just reality.
01:05:56.420
I'm going to end with that beautiful theme song from Conte.
01:06:01.380
The film is a magnificent masterpiece based on a book that's a masterpiece by Tom Wolfe,
01:06:10.020
We'll be back 5 o'clock this afternoon, Eastern Standard Time.
01:06:14.020
I want to warn you of a huge change that could be coming to our money and our bank accounts.
01:06:26.040
First, think back to 9-11, shortly after the government pushed through the Patriot Act.
01:06:30.040
This gave the government power to spy on innocent Americans by monitoring our phone and email
01:06:38.900
Now, Jim Rickards, editor of the independent financial newsletter Strategic Intelligence,
01:06:43.460
and New York Times bestselling author, is warning about a coming event
01:06:47.660
that could elevate this governmental surveillance to a terrifying new level.
01:06:52.120
In fact, some of the guests I've had on The War Room believe that the government will soon
01:06:59.600
If we say the wrong things on social media, donate to the wrong causes, buy firearms, or even vote MAGA,
01:07:06.620
the government may be able to shut us out of our bank accounts.
01:07:09.860
I can't say for sure if this will happen, but it's an interesting and dire warning.
