00:00:00.000Hello, friends, and welcome to today's video where I'm going to be talking about my skin story and my skincare routine.
00:00:14.260As you can probably tell, I'm not wearing any makeup.
00:00:17.100And the reason I'm doing this is because I never used to feel comfortable going outside without makeup.
00:00:22.100So it's kind of a crazy story. I used to have really, really bad skin.
00:00:26.340I used to get acne all over my face, my cheeks, my forehead, my chin.
00:00:31.640It was just awful, and I felt really embarrassed about it.
00:00:34.800I don't think that it is something that we should be embarrassed about, but it was embarrassing for me, and I understand why you would be embarrassed.
00:00:41.220That was between the ages of about 15 to 21, and I just was breaking out, and I couldn't stop it.
00:00:49.020So the thing that I want to start with is that if you're seeing a dermatologist, listen to them.
00:00:54.580So I know that sounds obvious, but here's why I'm saying it.
00:00:58.260When I saw a dermatologist, they would always give me products, and then they would say, give it six weeks to work.
00:01:04.000And I would get two or three weeks in, and I would think to myself, well, nothing is happening.
00:01:08.600I'm not seeing any kind of difference. I think I'm just going to give up on this.
00:01:13.540Well, what I realized is that when I actually stuck with a product that my dermatologist gave me, it wasn't until the end of the sixth week that I saw any results, which is crazy to think about.
00:01:25.340But I really didn't even see my skin completely clear up until, like, three months from when the doctor gave me these couple of topical products.
00:01:33.900So that's my first really big piece of advice.
00:01:37.080If your dermatologist tells you to try a product for about six weeks, try it for the full six weeks, and then see if you even start to see results by the end of that, because that was what made the biggest difference for me.
00:01:47.860So at the same time that I started using these topical creams, I also bought on Amazon a rubber mechanical exfoliator.
00:01:57.480I don't know what you would call it, but it's kind of a knockoff of the Foreo from Sephora, which is very expensive, but I think I got mine for, like, $18.
00:02:05.320And I've used it for, it's been three or four years now, and it is as good now as it was when I bought it.
00:02:10.960So I definitely think you can work with something you get off Amazon.
00:02:14.340But it was that, in conjunction with these creams, that I think made the biggest difference for me.
00:02:20.720Those things, I think, are the biggest part of my routine.
00:02:22.840So now that I've kind of told you about how I used to have really bad skin, and now I have clear skin after seeing my dermatologist, I can tell you about my skincare routine.
00:02:30.460What I have to tell you about my skincare routine is that it's not very complicated at all.
00:02:57.220The first thing I do every night before I go to sleep is take off my makeup.
00:03:00.160And I use the Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes Hydrating Edition from Neutrogena.
00:03:05.560Their whole hydration line is my favorite thing ever.
00:03:08.680I've never used a product from the hydration line that I haven't liked.
00:03:12.640Not everything I have is from there, but I've tried a lot of those products, and I've really enjoyed them.
00:03:17.740My skin, like I've said before, is combo skin.
00:03:21.140So I get dryness, and I also get oiliness.
00:03:24.240And it just kind of depends on which part of my face I'm talking about.
00:03:26.720But what I've decided to do for my face for the most part is treat the dry parts, because those are the parts that I can use a cream that will help.
00:03:37.180Whereas the oily parts, I'm not going to use like a mattifying primer before I go to sleep.
00:03:41.640My makeup products can do it with the oily stuff, whereas my skincare products can help with the dryness.
00:03:51.120I will also use any eye makeup remover just to help with getting my makeup off around my eyes.
00:03:56.500I usually use the ones that do have oil in them, because I find that the other ones are still not really going to do a great job at getting my mascara off.
00:04:03.420And I really don't like going to sleep with mascara on, because it can irritate my eyes.
