today i wanted to show you guys a typical dinner that i would prepare for me and jacob and i really
00:00:14.000

00:00:21.760
this kind of video and that's something that you can do too if you become a premium subscriber

00:00:46.160
so much to ariel for her suggestion i'm really excited to do this today so the setup in here is
00:00:51.520
a little bit different than it used to be i used to have a much easier kitchen to film in now we're in
00:00:57.360
a in a galley kitchen so it's just going to be a little bit more of me working in this direction
00:01:02.720
which makes things a little trickier but i will do my best to show you what i'm doing so i'm really
00:01:08.320
excited to do this today so let's get into it so i'm actually going to be making a pretty simple meal
00:01:13.760
today what i will be doing is chicken thighs in orange sauce and panko and that's going to be baked
00:01:20.080
as well as asparagus fried up in a pan and then i'll also just be making a rice pilaf from near east
00:01:26.720
that's a spanish rice recipe and it's all super simple i think many of us don't have that much
00:01:32.800
time to cook but we still want to eat good meals and so that's kind of what i do here i'm not opposed
00:01:38.640
to spending a little extra time and doing something more fun on my channel but often i don't feel like
00:01:43.760
i really have the time to invest in doing something really complicated so today i'm really doing
00:01:49.120
something incredibly simple but i thought i would share it with you so what you're going to need is a
00:01:54.240
package of chicken thighs a bottle of orange sauce panko breadcrumbs a box of near east rice pilaf mix
00:02:02.400
that's the spanish rice version asparagus olive oil salt onion powder garlic powder and paprika and
00:02:11.440
as soon as you've got all that stuff together we should be set so i'm going to start off by heating
00:02:16.720
the oven to 400 degrees and then i'm going to chop up the chicken into small pieces
00:02:46.720
so the reason that i cut up the chicken into small pieces is that jacob isn't a huge fan of
00:02:58.560
the texture of chicken which i totally get but if you cut it up into small pieces it really does make
00:03:03.600
it a lot more edible so i just cut it into small pieces so that it tastes a little bit better as far
00:03:09.920
as texture goes and the next thing that i'm going to do is i'm going to grab two plates and i'm going
00:03:16.000
to coat the little pieces of chicken in orange sauce and then i'm going to coat them in panko
00:03:21.520
and that's literally my entire recipe that's everything i'm going to do i'm then going to put
00:03:25.920
it on a baking sheet with some silver foil on top so it's easier to clean and pop it in the oven at 400
00:04:02.480
so i finished prepping the chicken it looks really good you probably can't see because i don't want to
00:04:26.640
tip this forward i don't think that would be a great plan but if you can see it looks pretty good
00:04:32.560
and i'm just going to pop this in the oven probably for about 20 to 25 minutes maybe 25
00:04:38.960
but i'll use my meat thermometer to check i highly recommend having a meat thermometer on hand
00:04:43.840
generally because meat thermometers really take away the stress of cooking you just need to get
00:04:49.360
this to an internal temperature of 165 degrees fahrenheit and then you know it's all cooked and
00:04:53.760
you don't have to stress about it so that's what i like to do so i'm just going to pop this into
00:04:58.080
the oven and then we will move on to the next foods
00:05:08.000
so while those are cooking i am going to start on the rice which is super easy honestly you just
00:05:14.160
follow the instructions on the back of the box this company that near east which is kosher
00:05:19.920
they have so many great rice recipes and all you have to do is follow the instructions on the back
00:05:26.000
everything that you really need is in the box and it's delicious so again it's simple short and easy
00:05:32.320
and these are things that i think are really useful if you want to at least break into cooking at home
00:05:37.360
and maybe even just cooking at home generally because when you have kids i don't have kids yet
00:05:42.160
but when you do have kids things are too crazy to really spend two hours in the kitchen or if you work
00:05:46.880
a busy job then working in the kitchen two hours after you get home is not really going to be the
00:05:52.080
best idea so doing this having just stuff like this that you can throw in the oven or throw on the
00:05:58.160
stove top why not it's just great so i'm going to put that on the stove top
00:06:06.160
the first thing i'm going to do is grab my little sauce pan here then i'm going to follow the
00:06:10.080
instructions so i just bring two cups of water and two tablespoons of olive oil i never measure out the
00:06:15.120
olive oil i just pour in a little bit um to a boil and then you stir in the rice and the spice packet
00:06:22.320
and you return it to a boil cover reduce heat to low and then you simmer for 20 to 25 minutes
00:06:27.680
which works perfectly with the meat in the oven so i'm going to go ahead and do that
00:06:44.480
now while that's coming to a boil i can start on the asparagus so we love asparagus in our house i
00:06:50.480
don't know about you guys our two favorites would probably be asparagus and brussels sprouts i'm
00:06:54.480
trying to branch out a little bit so if you have good side dish recipes for vegetables i would love
00:07:00.320
to hear them so i like doing asparagus it's very simple all i'm going to do is cut off the stems here
00:07:06.080
a bit some of them are just a little bit too long and then i'm going to cut them in half just because i
00:07:12.560
find that they fit in the pan better i can stir a little bit better and they don't get
00:07:15.920
um you know a little bit too soggy i find that it's better when i just cut them in half there
00:07:21.840
and then i'm going to throw them in the pan with some olive oil some paprika some salt some onion
00:07:27.440
powder and some garlic powder and i don't measure anything i just kind of throw it in the pan so i
00:08:23.680
and that's it everything is cooking everything is on the stove you might be able to hear it
00:08:44.080
sizzling i'm not sure so we've got the rice boiling away we've got the asparagus on the
00:08:51.400
stove frying up and we've got the chicken in the oven so when everything is done i will show you
00:08:57.780
the final dish and you guys can take a look at what we'll be eating tonight and hopefully this
00:09:02.720
is something you guys can try at home and it's perfect for just two people i mean there's
00:09:06.720
definitely going to be a few leftovers but it's a really good sized meal and i think it might be
00:09:11.900
good for another meal or a meal and a half so i'm gonna let everything cook and i'll see you in a
00:09:31.460
all righty friends so dinner is ready it's all right out of the oven and off of the stove and
00:09:37.780
i'm super excited to try it so let's dive in i'm gonna start off with the asparagus
00:09:44.020
very good and i like it because it is still crisp but it didn't get soggy and that's my
00:09:57.360
least favorite thing with asparagus is when it gets soggy now let's try the rice
00:10:01.880
this is one of my favorite rices that near east makes it's super flavorful and again so easy to
00:10:16.880
delicious really good i'm really happy with it that was actually my first time trying that recipe
00:10:28.340
recipe quote unquote um but it was my first time trying that so i wanted i hoped it would be good
00:10:34.000
enough for my channel but it's delicious and it's so easy to make so that was my video today that was
00:10:39.580
my easy kosher meal for two people that might last for another day but is really delicious and so fast
00:10:47.140
