00:00:00.080 Hello beautiful ladies and welcome to today's episode of The Scoop!
00:00:06.880 So for those of you who are new to my channel, The Scoop is our opportunity to have a girl chat,
00:00:11.280 grab a coffee, catch up on what went on this week, and just kind of chat and see how everyone's
00:00:15.920 doing. I like to talk with you guys in the comments and see what you've been up to,
00:00:19.440 and I like to share what I've been up to. So this is just a nice place for us to have a girl talk.
00:00:24.000 So grab a cup of coffee or a cup of tea and let's get into it. First off,
00:00:28.000 I want to talk about this new movie that is coming to Netflix called Cuties. This movie has
00:00:33.600 been blowing up on Twitter ever since its trailer was put on Netflix and they released their poster,
00:00:39.760 and it is just pedophilic. It's about an 11 year old girl who comes from a traditional household
00:00:46.480 and decides that she wants to join her cool group of friends who are twerking and dancing incredibly
00:00:53.280 sexually and she wants to leave behind this traditional life and embrace her burgeoning
00:00:58.880 femininity. No. It seems that in this day and age, pedophilia is becoming somewhat mainstream,
00:01:06.400 at least mainstream enough that a movie like this is being promoted on Netflix's platforms.
00:01:12.800 And this is a French film, and if you've seen the poster that was released in America,
00:01:16.560 you would be shocked. 11 year olds dressed and posing in incredibly sexual ways. And this is why,
00:01:25.440 once again, conservatives need to take the culture back because this isn't just fun and games here.
00:01:31.680 We're talking about children being sexualized. Children being sexualized is not a game. This is
00:01:38.080 something that is very, very serious. And it's something that's coming from this empowerment narrative.
00:01:44.320 When women start talking about empowerment and they mean empowerment sexually, then why should 11
00:01:50.320 year olds not be empowered to embrace their sexuality? Which is barely anything yet. 11 year
00:01:56.880 olds should not have to think about sexuality. That is not in the game yet, and it shouldn't be. And
00:02:03.040 apparently this movie has been rated TVMA, which is the equivalent of NC-17. And now we have to ask,
00:02:10.400 who is this movie meant for? It's 11 year old children dancing sexually, and only people above
00:02:17.440 the age of 17 should be watching it. Who are we making a movie like this for? And that is a real
00:02:24.960 problem. And this isn't something that is questionable. This isn't something that we can think about.
00:02:30.320 No. Children should never be sexualized. And telling women that femininity is sexuality,
00:02:37.280 of course is going to translate to little girls. Of course we're putting children in a position to
00:02:42.960 engage with their sexuality far too young, and giving pedophiles the perfect outlet in which to
00:02:49.360 see this kind of behavior. This is not acceptable. No one should think this is acceptable. And if
00:02:54.560 conservatives are the only ones who are going to ring the alarm bells, then let's ring them loud.
00:02:59.120 Let me know in the comments if you've seen the poster for this movie, what you've heard about it,
00:03:02.560 because when I first saw the poster, I was aghast. I could not believe that a movie like this was
00:03:08.720 being made about 11 year olds. Just shocking, honestly. Now on many, many more lighter topics,
00:03:17.520 I did want to touch on that. Let's talk about just things that I've been doing this week. So a big
00:03:22.960 lesson that I learned this past week was about cleaning the house. I had been leaving all of my
00:03:29.440 chores for the weekend and the house was a huge mess and I could barely keep a handle on it.
00:03:35.440 Then I cleaned the entire house and I said to myself, we're not going to let this happen again.
00:03:42.080 I decided that I was going to do a little bit every day so that I wouldn't have this huge project at
00:03:47.680 the end of the week. And it has made such a difference. So now when I cook, I don't leave dishes
00:03:52.640 for the morning. I clean the kitchen and the kitchen goes to bed with me. The kitchen is going to be
00:03:56.960 as clean as it can be before I go to sleep so I don't have to do something in the morning.
00:04:01.120 And if I'm going to use a blanket, I'm going to fold it right after. And if I'm going to take
00:04:04.880 something out, I'm going to put it away. And everything has been so much cleaner in the house
00:04:09.360 throughout the week, which makes me feel calmer and more collected. And of course, as I said in my last
00:04:14.720 scoop video, being calm and collected is the first step to being classic. So having the house be clean
00:04:21.040 more of the time gives me the mental brain space to actually be calm and be collected. And I know
00:04:27.840 that I have seen a huge, huge difference in the way that I felt and also just in the actual tasks of
00:04:34.640 cleaning the house. I don't hate it anymore. They're small tasks. It's, oh, I'm going to do this small
00:04:39.200 thing so that I can do whatever I want tomorrow. I'm going to just deal with small little projects
00:04:44.640 instead of a huge project at the end of the week. And actually, I don't mind doing things
00:04:49.840 a little bit every day. I've actually been considering doing laundry once a day instead
00:04:53.920 of doing laundry once a week. Let me know in the comments if that's something that you do,
00:04:57.920 if you do laundry more frequently or less frequently, and kind of what are the pros and cons of that.
00:05:02.400 Because I've heard from people who do do the laundry every day, it's just such a smaller project
00:05:06.320 to fold everything and you always have everything clean. Of course, using the settings that don't use
00:05:11.440 and waste a lot of water. But I'm interested in doing that because I like the idea of having
00:05:14.960 just these small little projects that I do instead of big, big tasks. I've also been excited because
00:05:20.480 our gym reopened. And so I have been going back to my exercise routine. I love my exercise routine
00:05:27.040 because when I do it, I'm using a specific book. And when I use that book, I see results so quickly.
00:05:33.600 And I just love, love it. I also love that it's a routine, that it's specific things that I do each week.
00:05:39.840 So I really have a plan. I thrive off of plans and schedules. So using that has made such a huge
00:05:47.040 difference. I get really excited to go to the gym every other day. Of course, there are days where
00:05:51.920 I don't know if I have time to make it to the gym. And that's a little bit tricky. But the actual going
00:05:56.640 to the gym, I love doing and I love getting my exercise in and listening to a podcast or calling a
00:06:02.800 friend or whatever it is while I'm working out. And I just really love weightlifting. As I've said on my
00:06:08.240 channel a few times before, I'm a much more a fan of weightlifting than I am cardio.
00:06:12.320 I don't like cardio. I don't like getting really sweaty. My hair, if I get it sweaty one day,
00:06:16.720 I really do have to wash it. So if my hair looks nice, I don't want to get sweaty. I don't like
00:06:21.120 having to shower. I don't like breaking out on my face. So weightlifting, I don't get as sweaty.
00:06:25.840 I do take walks pretty frequently. So it's not to say that I don't get movement in,
00:06:29.840 but I don't like running. For example, that's not something I enjoy. At some point in my life,
00:06:34.160 maybe I'll like it more. But right now I prefer weightlifting to that. And I've really been liking
00:06:40.640 it. So let me know in the comments, are you a weightlifter or are you a cardio person? Because
00:06:44.960 I know a lot of women generally are cardio and that works too. Whatever works for you. I am a proponent
00:06:50.400 with exercise of doing what works for you because for a lot of people, exercise is not something that
00:06:55.680 comes naturally. It's not something that they want to do. So doing exercise at all is an accomplishment.
00:07:01.440 And I am very much in that camp. If you're not somebody who likes exercising and you can't really
00:07:06.640 motivate, finding something you like is the most important thing. And then maybe secondarily finding
00:07:11.840 something that is actually going to build muscle or is maybe better than just what you had originally
00:07:16.800 been doing. But the first step always is finding an exercise routine that at least gets you to exercise
00:07:22.720 in the first place. I also wanted to mention a quick makeup hack that I've been doing and I have
00:07:28.960 been loving it. So on my channel a couple of weeks ago, I did a makeup tutorial and I used a new
00:07:36.080 Neutrogena foundation stick, which I really do like, but it is a little bit light for me in color.
00:07:42.480 And the coverage isn't enough for me right now because I am having some breakouts.
00:07:46.800 So I wanted to see what I could do to make this foundation even more wearable for myself. And I have
00:07:52.400 a number seven foundation that is slightly too dark for me, but it's very liquidy. So I discovered the
00:07:58.480 other day, and I'm so excited about it because it's like my new favorite foundation right now,
00:08:04.000 is if I do just a little bit of the foundation stick, I'll do like two stripes on this cheek,
00:08:08.240 two stripes on that cheek, and then I do one pump of the foundation on the back of my hand of the number
00:08:13.440 seven foundation. And I go in with my brush and mix them together. I cannot tell you how beautiful
00:08:20.800 the foundation looks on my skin. It is so flattering. It blends out so evenly. It's the perfect color
00:08:27.920 for me right now during summer. I don't get any streakiness and it really is just the perfect
00:08:34.240 combination. I never thought you could mix a stick foundation and a liquid foundation. I never thought
00:08:38.960 that was something you could do. And now I've discovered that it is. I'm never going back.
00:08:43.600 I love doing it because it really does create this incredible mixture, this incredible base
00:08:49.200 that lasts, that looks natural, that covers everything you want it to cover. And I've loved
00:08:54.640 how that combo has been a base for the rest of my makeup. I just am so happy with the way that it
00:09:00.080 looks. And each of those foundations is going to last twice as long because I'm mixing them together.
00:09:04.560 So it's kind of like having a giant foundation rather than just one or the other. And I'm just
00:09:10.560 really enjoying the way that it looks. I think it's a really, really good combo. So if you have
00:09:15.760 a foundation stick that hasn't really been working for you, maybe try putting some liquid foundation
00:09:20.000 on the back of your hand and then blending that out with the liquid foundation. And tell me if it
00:09:24.720 works because it works for me and I am super happy with it. I also have been thinking about doing
00:09:30.720 a project on my channel and I want to hear what you guys think about it. So here's the story.
00:09:36.400 When I was at Manhattan School of Music, we had an incredible program called Jones Closet. And
00:09:42.880 basically what it was was there was a charity for recital gowns or audition dresses because those
00:09:48.880 things can be really pricey. And when you're at Manhattan School of Music, you may not be able to
00:09:52.560 afford those things that you really truly need, recital dresses and audition dresses. And so this
00:09:58.480 charity will accept gowns and dresses from people and then give them to the Manhattan School of Music
00:10:03.280 students. It's an incredible, incredible initiative. And I have some beautiful dresses
00:10:08.480 from that that I still own. And one of the dresses that I have is beautiful, but it's not super
00:10:13.680 appropriate for me anymore because it has a halter neck and a lower back. So it's got some cleavage
00:10:19.280 in the front, which I don't really want to show. And it has a low back, which I don't want to wear.
00:10:23.200 So the dress itself is the perfect color for a friend of mine's wedding. She asked me to be a
00:10:28.880 bridesmaid and it's a champagne color. So what I'm thinking about doing is actually making a long
00:10:34.160 wrap dress to wear over it in tulle and like a sparkly netting and maybe doing a couple of layers
00:10:41.520 so it's less sheer. And I think it could be really, really pretty. But for any of you seamstresses out
00:10:47.760 there, if you have any recommendations, please let me know if you have any ideas. But I was thinking
00:10:53.040 about trying to film that for my channel. I don't know if I'll be able to. But if that's something you
00:10:57.600 think you guys would be interested in seeing, kind of that whole process, let me know in the comments
00:11:02.000 because I would like to try to do it if I could. And I do enjoy sewing, but that's a really big project.
00:11:07.600 So we'll see if I can pull it off. But let me know if it's worth me even doing it for my channel.
00:11:12.320 And last but not least, I just wanted to mention a podcast that I've been listening to that's been
00:11:16.320 making me so happy. And it's called The Simple Sophisticate. So basically the way she describes
00:11:21.760 herself is someone who prefers quality over quantity, sensible living over mindless consumption,
00:11:26.880 personal style instead of trendy fashion, an insatiable curiosity for life's endless questions,
00:11:31.840 and a desire to live a truly fulfilling life rather than being led around by the nose. And the woman who
00:11:37.040 runs it is named Shannon Ables. I really like her podcast. It's so calming. And it very much embraces
00:11:43.840 this idea of living a calmer life, not necessarily incredibly traditional, but chic while being
00:11:50.560 sophisticated, while being simple. And those things all speak to me to a T. So I have really been enjoying
00:11:56.880 listening to it. I listen to it on my daily walks. And even if I'm just starting to feel a little bit
00:12:01.360 stressed about something, if I put that on, I find that it just kind of calms me down. And I really like
00:12:06.800 talking about the kind of ways that we can live a more sophisticated life without spending more
00:12:11.360 money. And that is a huge thing. I think that's a really hard thing for us to grasp sometimes is
00:12:17.040 that being sophisticated doesn't mean you have to spend a lot of money. You can be sophisticated,
00:12:20.800 you can be elegant, and still just be mindful of your spending. So I really recommend checking her
00:12:26.560 out too. I hope you guys enjoyed this week's episode of The Scoop. Let me know in the comments
