00:00:22.340 of humanity that we saw in Genesis chapter 9, and God has organized them into three particular

00:00:29.660 stations or what I would call civilizational stations of humanity. We saw that the Shemite 1.00

00:00:37.860 nations or the Semite nations would be most blessed by embracing the Messiah that came from

00:00:45.340 their line. We saw that the Japhethite nations would be most blessed by taking up the mantle of

00:00:54.240 geographic expansion through Christian faithful colonization, essentially spreading the gospel

00:01:01.820 far and wide and the rule of Christ into many nations. And we saw the Hamite nations would be 0.89

00:01:07.540 most blessed by embracing their civilizational station of a form of national dependence or 0.94

00:01:14.480 yielding to exterior leadership. Ultimately, we concluded that embracing this order, this

00:01:22.100 this civilizational order would lead to greater peace. That was the purpose. It would lead to

00:01:28.840 greater world peace. Now, at the end of Romans, some of you were here for my Roman series.

00:01:38.180 At the end of Romans, in chapter 15, verse 33, Paul says, may the God of peace be with you all.

00:01:49.400 We know that one of the titles for Jesus is that he is the Prince of Peace.

00:02:30.520 because you are lacking order and order brings peace ordered truths ordered relationships

00:02:50.320 1 Corinthians 14.33 says that God is a God of order.

00:03:07.060 God orders sexes and he orders marriages and families and churches and governments and he

00:03:16.560 orders nations he has an order for all of these things and whenever we neglect his order whether

00:03:24.040 it's in the family or whether it's in the church or whether it's in our sex lives or whether it's

00:03:30.120 in the state, chaos and pain will follow. If you want to know why there's so much pain

00:03:38.360 in the feminist life, it's because it's disordered. If you want to know why there's so much pain 1.00

00:03:44.520 in America's national life, it's because there's so much disorder.

00:03:51.340 Today, we live in a time of profound chaos. It's profound chaos. Last night, I was walking around

00:03:59.120 And I thought, I wonder what John Adams would do if we walked him through this Independence Day gathering.

00:04:09.360 And our group agreed he would maybe die just seeing what is this, what's happening.

00:04:17.700 And that's just at an Independence Day.

00:04:19.580 Imagine going in downtown Los Angeles or Chicago or New York City any other time of the year.

00:04:29.120 America and much of the West are being coerced into ordering our nations not according to God's

00:04:41.920 designs for nations, but according to man's design for nations. And as we will see in my

00:04:48.660 next sermon in this series, according to Babel's design for nations, which is globalism, God's

00:04:55.760 design, as we will see, is nationalism. We're going to look at the nation of Israel. We're

00:05:00.740 going to see that God's design is nationalism. We're also going to see that man's design is

00:05:05.280 globalism, and we're going to compare those two realities. This 10th chapter of Genesis that

00:05:11.560 we're going to cover, the entire chapter today, it barely raised an eyebrow for nearly all of

00:05:18.860 human history because its teachings were as natural as the air that everyone breathes.

00:05:23.600 it's like reading that water is wet you're like okay very helpful thank you you know no the

00:05:32.080 reality is is that for most of history you'd read genesis 10 and you're like yeah okay moving on

00:05:37.780 but today after decades of rebellion against god's design for nations

00:05:53.400 have become some of the most radical and hated ideas in the modern world.

00:05:59.160 In fact, George Washington would very likely be excommunicated for his views on politics and nation

00:06:08.580 from the average reformed church in America.

00:06:12.660 Just think about his positions that he would have around everything from voting,

00:06:17.160 Voting, who could vote? Who couldn't vote? Slaves? Who could immigrate? Who could not

00:06:25.340 immigrate? What religions could be taking over in a nation? I mean, he would very likely be 1.00

00:06:30.220 excommunicated. Martin Luther, I don't even know if he could be ordained in the average

00:06:35.760 reformed church today. Okay, so there is massive drift into chaos that we're experiencing today.

00:06:43.540 and what we're experiencing in america is not normal it's common but it's not normal we know

00:06:51.940 what's normal is what the bible says what's common is what the world does okay it is normal to be

00:07:00.540 married and to have children and to not get a divorce that's normal it's common to be single

00:07:07.280 to be addicted to pornography and to never have children. That's common. It's not normal.

00:07:13.120 We want to get back to normal. We want to have society reflect the scriptures, which is normal. 0.51

00:07:22.960 Ultimately, this chapter will give us biblical answers to many of today's questions. If you just

00:07:31.440 live in this country or any country in the West, you have questions. And I'm going to give you some

00:07:35.720 of those questions that I think are very common among our own thoughts. Why is there so much

00:07:40.680 conflict and division in our nation? Like why? Why does every election feel like tribal warfare?

00:07:51.880 Why is trust between people groups collapsing? Why does multiculturalism so often produce 1.00

00:07:59.960 friction and not harmony? Why is identity politics tearing everybody apart?

00:08:08.720 Why is the church more divided than ever before? These are common questions I think that are

00:08:15.640 happening in the heads of many Americans. It's difficult to have local peace when you have

00:08:24.100 national chaos. Does that make sense? It's difficult to go like, you know what, have you

00:08:29.260 seen the meme of the dog and it's like he's drinking coffee and the whole building's burning

00:08:34.180 down and he's like everything's fine okay it's that's kind of what it's like it's it's difficult

00:08:39.660 to have local peace in the face of national chaos you feel like everything's falling apart

00:08:46.820 it's hard to just like go on like ironing clothing with a smile i mean it's it's it affects almost

00:08:52.900 everything you do. The scale of ethnic and cultural and religious and linguistic pluralism

00:09:00.900 in our nation is causing rising tensions. It's social exhaustion. It's voluntary separation.

00:09:10.760 Those are the things that are happening as a result of what's going on in the chaos of modern

00:09:18.680 western nations. Communities, whether by race or culture or religion, they're pulling apart

00:09:28.000 as people, what do they do? They leave. They seek out places of more cohesion. It's why you have

00:09:35.960 Chinatown, and it's why you have Slavic neighborhoods, and it's why you have white 0.98

00:09:40.780 flight. It's why you have black neighborhoods. It's why you have Hispanic neighborhoods. 0.99

00:09:44.760 you're having fragmentation it's not cohesion not national cohesion it's fragmentation 1.00

00:09:53.380 and as a result private life is growing stronger and public life is growing weaker

00:10:02.040 and this is never ever good for a nation if you've done any study in civics or nationalism

00:10:19.700 people, especially Christians, they like to make this very complex, okay? And you'll understand 1.00

00:10:26.620 what I mean. Oh, the problems of America, they're just, they're so overwhelming. They're so complex.

00:10:32.440 Like, there's no solution to these problems. But the more I study this topic, the more I realize

00:10:39.780 how simple the solution really is. It's a very simple solution. In fact, the vast majority of

00:10:46.520 the nations in our world understand it already. Mexico understands this. Colombia understands this.

00:10:56.940 Cuba understands this. Nigeria understands this. Russia understands this. Like, it's just,

00:11:04.880 it's fascinating to me that we're not understanding this. It's like watching the marriage of two

00:11:10.960 non-believers. You ever watch a marriage of two non-believers, maybe their friends or family, 0.51

00:11:17.020 and you know, the wife's working, the husband's passive, the kids are neglected, and you see the 0.98

00:11:23.600 chaos as a Christian, and you know the solution. You're looking at their chaos, and you go, 1.00

00:11:34.760 but they say to you oh our problems are so complex like we've tried everything we don't 0.99

00:11:50.800 and all they have to do is follow God's design for families all they have to do is follow God's 0.97

00:12:00.260 designed for order they need the gospel and the local church the husband needs to lovingly lead

00:12:08.980 his wife the wife needs to joyfully submit to her husband and the kids need to obey and then what

00:12:16.980 happens all of a sudden peace falls upon the home what a miracle i can't believe that was

00:12:24.420 was so complex we solved that problem so quickly okay the same principle applies to nations

00:12:32.100 same principle applies to nations genesis 10 offers us the broad formula for national peace

00:12:42.540 but unfortunately the church is not willing to preach it in fact i don't know if i can find

00:12:50.440 anyone who has been willing to preach this outside of one or two guys that I know personally.

00:12:58.760 And we need to be able to preach this doctrine. It is chapter 10 of Genesis.

00:13:06.420 And why aren't they willing to preach it?

00:13:10.860 They're not willing to preach it because preaching it would require them to say that many people,

00:13:15.780 even good Christian people should not be here and return to their homelands.

00:13:54.960 couldn't do it they don't have the ability to do the hard work of restoring national order

00:14:01.100 It would require men not caring about the tears of women and foreigners.

00:14:09.980 Ultimately, it would require us to admit that, generally speaking, diversity is not good for nations or for people, generally speaking.

00:14:22.900 And for those reasons, many Christians would rather stay silent on the issues. 0.72

00:14:30.620 They don't want to have the divide.

00:14:33.020 And they have become conflict-averse people. 0.83

00:14:36.580 They're basically cowards on almost every single issue. 0.88

00:14:40.640 They're Gnostics that they'll speak proudly into the spiritual world. 1.00

00:14:44.560 But the physical world, oh, God has nothing to say about that. 1.00

00:14:48.460 Kings, nations, states, oh, God has nothing to say about those things.

00:14:54.200 It's not our domain to speak.

00:14:56.820 Let the godless political leaders speak to that. 0.86

00:15:03.940 So Genesis chapter 10 is not just a random genealogy of the nations.

00:15:17.200 It's God's intentional template for national order.

00:15:21.940 doesn't mean that we can't have immigration. It doesn't mean that we can't have foreigners and

00:15:29.660 strangers and sojourners in our land. It doesn't mean that we can't have people from different

00:15:34.340 places coming here, but there is an order that we will see that we should embrace because it is from

00:15:42.600 God. It is his blueprint for how humanity should spread out. It is the blueprint for how

00:15:51.380 distinct people should remain. All these people that want diversity are actually eliminating

00:15:59.920 diversity. Globalism, by the way, if you're not aware, eliminates diversity.

00:16:07.420 Like you can't have diversity after two or three centuries of globalism.

00:16:12.740 Everybody is blended together. True diversity means sustaining national identity.

00:16:21.380 I want a Nigeria that's Christian and Nigeria.

00:16:28.020 I want a Mexico that's Mexican and Christian. 0.94

00:16:33.580 I want an Italy that's Italian and Christian.

00:16:39.420 That's also what God wants according to the scriptures.

00:16:45.500 Now, you have to know two things about this passage of scripture.

00:16:49.460 One, it is the outworking of God's command not only to Adam but also to Noah and his sons to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.

00:17:00.100 So what you are watching here in Genesis 10 is the filling of the earth of fruitful multiplication throughout the world.

00:17:10.500 The second thing you need to know is that Genesis 10 and 11 are not strictly chronological,

00:17:17.980 but they are ordered in thematic structures. And what I mean by that is that in chapter 10,

00:17:23.900 you're going to talk about nations being organized by language. And then you're going to go to

00:17:28.820 chapter 11, verse 1, and it's going to say, now the whole earth had one language and the same

00:17:33.780 words, end quote. You're going to go, wait a second. If it's chronological, then you're going

00:17:39.040 chapter 10 just said that God organized everybody into languages. And then chapter 11 says everybody

00:17:44.260 spoke one language. No, the reality is that these are two perspectives on the same kind of moment

00:17:50.700 thematically, not necessarily a chronological order. So let's read it together. A whole bunch

00:17:59.180 names that are going to be very difficult, but we're going to make it through. Verses one through

00:18:03.100 five. These are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Sons were born to 0.98

00:18:14.120 them after the flood. So what's saying right there, sons were born to those three boys after

00:18:21.720 the flood. Verse 2, the sons of Japheth, Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshach, and Tiras,

00:18:32.500 the sons of Gomer, Ashkenaz, Ripoth, and Togemon, the sons of Javan, Elisha, Tarshish,

00:18:46.200 Kitim and Dodanim. From these, the coastland peoples spread in their lands, each with his

00:18:57.180 own language, by their families in their nations. Okay, we're going to stop there.

00:19:05.720 So as we know, the descendants of Japheth are primarily the ancestors of the Indo-European

00:19:14.180 peoples. And so the vast majority of the people of America, vast majority of the people in our

00:19:19.780 own church. Now Javan is the father of the Greeks and the Ionians, and Gomer, his sons, particularly

00:19:29.920 Ashkenaz and Togarmah, are linked to the Celtic, the German, the Scythians, which now form up France,

00:19:37.900 Armenia and the rest of Europe. So that's kind of just the the genealogical the national

00:19:44.180 genealogical reality. Now Magog is the father of the ancient Scythians north of the Black Sea.

00:19:52.280 Medai points to the Medes people of ancient Iran while Tubal and Meshach are generally tied to the

00:19:59.680 peoples of Asia Minor and the Caucasus regions the Caucasus mountains which we'll talk about in a

00:20:07.880 the uh the thracians in southeastern europe and we can see more details and i wish i could kind

00:20:16.040 of give a i wish i had a map so i can show everybody these things but we're going to just

00:20:19.080 kind of move on from the geographic genealogical component to something else here that i want to

00:20:23.720 point out to you in the 1700s there was a christian scientist he was german and his name was johan

00:20:31.240 Bloomberg. And he classified, his work was about classifying human races and their origins and

00:20:38.780 where they came from. And he traced the Japhethites to the Caucasus Mountains. Now, the Caucasus

00:20:46.680 Mountains are located between the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea. There's this kind of mountain range,

00:20:53.920 this land bridge that's right there. And the Caucasus Mountains run horizontal across them.

00:20:59.020 and it's about 500 miles northwest of Mount Ararat. Now, that's important because Mount

00:21:05.780 Ararat is where the ark landed, and so Japheth and his family lines moved northwest towards the

00:21:15.200 Caucasus Mountains 500 miles. Now, if you're not aware, that region, it kind of looks like

00:21:21.500 Switzerland. If you've seen the, you can just google pictures, but the Caucasus Mountain Range

00:21:26.500 looks like switzerland it's it's it's about that far north it's not as far north as switzerland

00:21:32.340 but it's about equal to maybe greece but it's got great these great high elevations

00:21:36.760 now he eventually traced how these japhethites moved west and if you if you looking at a map

00:21:44.940 and you look west it's going to get into the some of the slavic nations and then it's going to move

00:21:49.980 you into like greece and italy and the northern territories of the mediterranean era or area

00:21:56.500 And eventually moves west even more towards Europe, northwest into Europe. 0.95

00:22:01.300 And it's why the people today are still called Caucasian. 0.78

00:22:06.020 If you want to know why you've been called Caucasian, if you're a white person, then that's why. 0.98

00:22:10.720 Because the seedbed of the Japhethites came from the Caucasus Mountains. 0.95

00:22:16.620 Now, I want you to notice verse 5 again. 1.00

00:22:20.000 Look at verse 5.

00:22:21.800 It says,

00:22:22.140 from these coastland peoples, they spread in their lands. I want you to pay attention to this

00:22:30.000 idea of coastland peoples. This is important because Isaiah 42, 4 says of God, pay attention

00:22:40.220 here. This is very good. Quote, he will not grow faint or be discouraged till he has established

00:22:46.820 justice in the earth, and the coastlands will wait for his law. And the coastlands will wait

00:22:55.080 for his law. So we have a prophecy in Genesis chapter 9 that says that Japheth will enlarge 0.87

00:23:04.400 and that he will receive the gospel that comes from Shem. We learned that over the last few

00:23:09.660 weeks then we have a record here in genesis 10 that says that japheth has become the coastland

00:23:17.120 people by coastland it means the northern mediterranean people that that's what's

00:23:22.660 happening it's referring to these nations like solomus and patmos and perga and atelia and

00:23:33.340 Troas and Neophilus and Philippi and Thessalonica and Berea and Ephesus and Miletus and Patra

00:23:42.080 and Tyre and Sidon and all of the coastal sections of Greece and Rome. And what correlates

00:23:48.300 with those coastland peoples? Well, if you're thinking correctly, it's all of Paul's missionary 0.96

00:23:56.000 journeys. In fact, 23 of the approximate 28 stops that Paul made were coastland territories.

00:24:09.720 And that is about 80% of his ministry was coastland territories. And so this passage,

00:24:18.800 pay attention here, in Genesis chapter 10 is laying the foundation for the fulfillment

00:24:23.240 of Japheth's blessing in chapter 9

00:24:25.880 that would be fulfilled

00:24:28.640 in Paul's ministry in Acts.

00:24:55.600 It's literally amazing when you see that Genesis connects with Isaiah and that Isaiah connects with Acts.

00:25:05.860 God has been putting this thing together at a national, civilizational level since the very beginning.

00:25:12.520 now let's focus on the last part of verse 5 for a second which is repeated in verse 20 and 21

00:25:25.360 so at the very end of each son's genealogical record it's going to repeat this here at the

00:25:32.440 end of verse 5 for Japheth and then for Shem and then for Ham you're going to have the same

00:25:39.620 pattern here and it says that they were organized by their families depends on which translation if

00:25:45.500 you're a new king james or esp might use different words like clans or but by their families their

00:25:51.120 languages their lands and their nations four categories four categories is how god has designed

00:26:00.600 and ordered these dispersing nations post babel even though we haven't got to babel chronologically

00:26:08.220 yet now this gives us god's template for the organization of people and as i have said

00:26:18.580 god has made one kind mankind he has made three races the races of ham shem and japheth

00:26:28.620 he has made hundreds of ethnicities right now i think we have what 195 different nations

00:26:36.440 there's actually more ethnicities than there are nations and then there's thousands of cultures

00:26:41.180 that's the taxonomy of god's structure for people groups act 17 26 says and he made from one man

00:26:53.660 every nation of mankind to live all on the face of the earth having determined allotted periods

00:27:02.880 and the boundaries, their borders, of their dwelling place, end quote.

00:27:08.680 And this is the principle that we're seeing here in Genesis chapter 10. And as I have said over

00:27:15.320 and over again, nations are simply large genetic families. You need to remember this. Nations are

00:27:25.660 simply large genetic families. Again, this was never disputed like 50 years ago and back.

00:27:32.880 You're talking 7,000 years of never being disputed.

00:27:37.760 Nations are large genetic families.

00:27:42.060 But we know this is true because this is the exact model given to us for the nation of Israel.

00:27:48.800 So if we want to be consistent, we have lots of nationalistic theology around the nation, the Old Testament nation of Israel.

00:27:59.240 in scripture israel is literally the genetic descendants of abraham isaac and jacob jacob's

00:28:09.360 name is changed to israel and jacob has 12 sons and those 12 sons make up the population

00:28:16.400 of the nation of israel

00:28:18.320 so according to this verse how has god organized people how has god organized people

00:28:28.720 it's not complex okay it's not complex okay it's very easy again we have one mankind three races

00:28:37.780 multiple genetic families which god has organized by four principles families language land and

00:28:42.860 nations families language land and nations and right when you feel like you memorize those four

00:28:54.440 friend Joel Webin, he put it together in six L's. L's. And I thought it was good. I go on a lot of

00:29:02.700 podcasts and talk about this, so it helps me remember it a little bit easier. But he goes,

00:29:06.240 lineage, language, liturgy, loves, law, land. That's what makes up a nation. That's what makes

00:29:14.460 up a nation. Lineage, language, liturgy, loves, law, and land. And those are the things,

00:29:22.900 The principles that make up a cohesive, historic, biblical nation.

00:29:30.960 But I'm going to stick to the biblical words because I'm an expositor.

00:29:35.100 And I want to just stick to what the scripture actually says.

00:29:39.240 So let's talk about families.

00:29:41.520 Families.

00:29:43.180 So people are to be organized primarily by ancestry.

00:29:49.280 and until we had this great reality of mass transportation this wasn't difficult to

00:29:58.120 understand okay when you couldn't hop on a on an airplane and go across the world do you know how

00:30:05.400 difficult it would have been for Somalis to go from Somalia to Minnesota 150 years ago 0.92

00:30:11.620 like impossible okay basically impossible but again people are to be organized primarily by

00:30:21.400 ancestry now this again this doesn't mean that we can't allow foreigners or strangers

00:30:28.520 into our land through what i would call limited but righteous immigration and i say that because

00:30:35.920 Israel allowed that as well. God's Old Testament Israel allowed for a degree of righteous

00:30:42.480 immigration, but not a degree of immigration that would replace, it would be a demographic

00:30:48.500 replacement of the existing population, which is what's happening in Europe. That's wicked. 0.91

00:30:54.820 It's what I would call national theft. Think about the words stranger and foreigner. 1.00

00:31:03.980 They are called that because you, as a stranger in our land, should feel strange.

00:31:30.040 There was no such thing as mass, multi-ethnic, multi-racial, multi-cultural nations for all of church history, for all of history, by the way, up until the last 60 years. 0.62

00:32:06.840 come up the same because it is a fact of science and history and scripture that people associate

00:32:15.280 with those that are like them you don't have to go to a jail for like a day and you're quickly

00:32:24.080 going to see that people associate with people who are like them. It's also in the animal kingdom,

00:32:30.560 right? What is the famous phrase? Birds of a feather flock together, right? It's just true.

00:32:36.220 You don't see squirrels hanging out with foxes. Now, in the animal world, it's very different

00:32:43.200 than humanity. And we have in Christ an ability to have greater unity in Christ. And so I think

00:32:53.140 that that's why you can see Christian nations allowing a degree of migration and allowing and

00:33:01.360 embracing those realities and it being a gorgeous and beautiful thing. So the primary principle for

00:41:03.940 if you don't speak Japanese, we won't serve you. And what does that do if you moved to Japan?

00:49:08.940 spread abroad on the earth after the flood. Okay, almost done. Regarding verse 21, look back to verse

00:49:19.140 21 it says to shem also the father of all the children of eber end quote okay eber is the root

00:49:28.640 word for hebrew okay so when it says oh the hebrew people it's talking about the root of eber

00:49:37.300 and it shows that shem was the father of the hebrew people abraham himself came down the line

00:49:46.920 about five or six generations, from Eber. Now, notice also the mention of Japheth as the older

00:49:55.060 brother. This is important because it reveals that, okay, Japheth is the oldest. Ham is the

00:50:04.080 youngest, and Shem is the middle. And we talked about this in chapter 9. It went in a different 0.78

00:50:10.660 order. It listed Shem first, not because he's the oldest, but because he was given the greatest

00:50:16.080 blessing of having the Messiah come from the Semitic people, okay? And Japheth is actually

00:50:25.520 the oldest son, and this is important because it shows that God's election doesn't follow birth

00:50:33.660 order, and we see this with Isaac and Ishmael. Ishmael is born first, yet he is not the one that's

00:50:39.780 blessed. Isaac is blessed. Jacob and Esau. Esau is older, but Jacob gets the blessing even though

00:50:46.420 he is younger. We see this with David. David is the youngest of his brothers, and he is the blessed

00:50:52.140 one and not his older brothers. It is a common reality that God breaks the reality of birthright

00:50:59.420 and says, no, I'm going to elect that which I have chosen.

00:51:05.380 so i'll close with this in the end genesis 10 shows us that god is not confused about countries

00:51:14.860 he's not confused about countries he has sovereignly ordained them according to ancestry

00:51:21.900 language land and nation that's the order you should remember that basic fundamentals that

00:51:28.700 honestly you really do need to teach your children and your grandchildren because in the next 10 to

00:51:33.760 20 years, these will be the forefront issues in the West. And why do we care? Because order brings

00:51:45.400 peace. Order brings peace. And we want peace. It's good for people. It's good for nations.
