00:00:00.000 Every year this question is asked by millions of Christians. So here are three reasons why 0.97
00:00:05.820 Christians should not celebrate Halloween. First, Halloween is a celebration of death. 1.00
00:00:10.400 This is why your local Home Depot and Target stores are covered in morbid,
00:00:13.800 decaying witches, blood, and nooses. As Christians, we don't celebrate what Christ came to conquer.
00:00:18.900 Second, Halloween is a celebration of evil. In fact, Halloween is a season designed to make
00:00:23.100 children comfortable with evil. So why would Christian parents want to nurture an appetite 1.00
00:00:27.740 for horror, gore, sorcery, death, fear, and immodesty, 1.00
00:00:31.380 especially when studies have shown
00:00:33.080 the links between Halloween in horror movies
00:00:35.100 and horror movies with depression and suicide.
00:00:37.940 Third, Halloween is a celebration of darkness.
00:00:40.720 Anton LaVey, the founder of the Church of Satan
00:00:42.600 and the author of the Satanic Bible,
00:00:44.460 once said about Halloween, 0.99
00:00:45.780 quote, I'm glad that Christian parents 1.00
00:00:47.480 let their children worship the devil 1.00
00:00:49.020 at least one night per year.
00:00:50.420 The reality is Halloween is viewed
00:00:52.580 as a satanic holiday by Satanists.
00:00:55.300 It truly is a day of darkness.
00:00:57.460 So what are we to do as Christians on October 31st?
00:01:00.020 For our family, we celebrate Reformation Day,
00:01:02.560 which commemorates Martin Luther's inauguration
00:01:04.440 of the Protestant Reformation on October 31st, 1517.
00:01:08.180 We have family and friends come to our home
00:01:09.880 to feast on seasonal dishes, drinks, and desserts.
00:01:12.580 We sing hymns, and I teach on the doctrine
00:01:14.600 of justification by faith alone.
00:01:16.380 But more than that, we leave our house open,
00:01:18.580 invite our neighbors over, and we talk about the gospel,
00:01:21.040 and we let our light shine among the darkness.
00:01:23.820 And you know what?
00:01:24.560 Our kids love it.
00:01:25.520 So drop the darkness this year and trade up for a celebration of light.
