00:00:00.000 Post-millennialism is an optimistic view of the church, the future, and even the world.
00:00:06.200 It's the eschatological view that Jesus will return after his kingdom is established
00:00:09.860 through his church in the Great Commission by the preaching of the gospel.
00:00:14.020 Now, the modern church is highly pessimistic.
00:00:16.500 It's somewhat adopted a culture of, we don't polish brass on a sinking ship.
00:00:20.200 After all, we're the rapture generation and we need to be rapture ready.
00:00:23.760 As a result, the church has largely embraced an eschatology of defeat,
00:00:27.180 a belief that the world will just get worse and the church will just get smaller until Jesus
00:00:31.840 comes back. In a very real sense, cultural decline is almost looked at as progress because it means
00:00:36.780 Jesus is coming soon. But postmillennialism is the biblical position that rejects this posture
00:00:41.640 and believes wholeheartedly the promises of Jesus Christ. They believe that Christ is reigning as
00:00:46.280 king right now and that he's going to reign until all of his enemies are under his feet,
00:00:50.120 that Christ will build his church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it,
00:00:53.120 And that the kingdom of God is like a mustard seed that starts out small, but grows to become
00:00:57.780 the largest tree in the garden.
00:00:59.460 The church started small, just like that mustard seed, but over the centuries, it's continued
00:01:03.700 to grow.
00:01:04.700 Today, 31% of the world professes to be Christian. 0.99
00:01:07.680 Why would this trend stop? 0.99
00:01:09.100 Why would the gospel stop converting sinners into saints?
00:01:11.800 I believe it won't.
00:01:12.880 I believe over the centuries, Christ will continue to conquer and convert the majority
00:01:17.220 of the world.
00:01:18.220 My hope isn't to convince you, it's to inform you that there's another orthodox view of
00:01:22.360 the future, a view that's hopeful, but it's up to you to open up your Bible.
