00:00:00.000 Today I want to talk about the piñata protocol for achieving success and overcoming challenges.
00:00:06.100 You know, problems don't go away. The quality of the problems go up. Tenacity and focus,
00:00:12.520 these are the things that are going to get you outcomes in your life. Recently I was at my son's
00:00:18.780 birthday party and we got him a piñata. You know those things with full of candy and you have a
00:00:23.340 stick and you hit them. And I watch these kids line up and start hitting the pinata. And like
00:00:30.360 the first one went up, nothing happens, right? Third kid, fourth kid, fifth kid. Finally, my son's
00:00:37.820 turn is up and one big swing, boom, gets a pinata, drops to the ground, cracks wide open, candy
00:00:44.440 everywhere, pandemonium, kids jumping from the rafters and just eating the sugar and it went
00:00:49.700 crazy. My question to you is, was it that last hit that caused a pinata to crack open? Or was it
00:00:58.780 every one of those swings that connected? Even the swings that didn't connect because they were
00:01:04.720 swings in the direction. And that's what I want to share with you today. Because when I look at
00:01:10.220 my career over the years, and the challenges of starting off and failing when I was 17,
00:01:15.720 and then again when I was 19 and then again
00:01:18.520 and just like starting projects and not succeeding
00:01:21.280 but eventually at 24, finding a mentor,
00:01:24.580 getting a coach, reading business books
00:01:27.080 and just applying myself and being tenacious.
00:01:30.460 I've learned that there's these three areas
00:01:32.940 of my psychology that's allowed me
00:01:35.720 to make the gains I've made in my life
00:01:38.420 and I wanna share them with you.
00:01:40.280 Number one is tenacity.
00:01:42.260 You know, focus, if you've ever heard that term,
00:01:44.160 people are like, you have to have focus,
00:01:45.340 you have to have focus focus stands for it's an acronym follow one course until successful write
00:01:51.500 that down follow one course until successful it means you have to be tenacious and keep moving
00:01:57.660 when everybody else would just give up it's so easy you think of a bamboo tree when you plant
00:02:03.500 a bamboo tree you got to find fertile ground dig a hole put the seed in there bury it up and water
00:02:10.700 it and take care of it and put nutrition on it and make sure that it's you know in the right place
00:02:17.100 and it's getting sunlight and for a lot of people that don't know this they would just give up on
00:02:22.160 this bamboo tree because after the first year nothing would have changed it literally would
00:02:26.420 look like the same dirt that they first buried that seed in year two same thing nothing would
00:02:31.320 have changed year three same thing nothing changes year four same thing and on year five here's where
00:02:39.600 the magic comes from the moment that bamboo tree cracks the earth the little seedling pops open
00:02:47.680 and gets access to fresh sunlight and air that thing will shoot up 90 feet in five weeks i share
00:02:57.580 that because too often you guys are expecting things to happen right now and they take time
00:03:04.320 now some of you guys may be in a really tough place right now and you just feel like man everything
00:03:09.580 just feels dark and you feel like you got buried. I want to invite you instead to consider that
00:03:16.560 maybe you've been planted. Maybe this is your time to take in the nutrients and take in the support
00:03:23.280 and take in the water to build up, to build up, to become prepared, to learn the skills, to work on
00:03:30.140 the mindset, to strengthen your body and find the energy so that when you finally have your
00:03:35.360 opportunity. You have the tenacity to shoot up 90 feet in five weeks in your equivalent life area.
00:03:43.820 Whatever that means for you, it's your success is right there and you're feeling like you're
00:03:47.480 buried and I'm telling you, you've been planted. Number two is consistency. You know, when I talk
00:03:53.080 to entrepreneurs or people just starting off, they're like, you know, one time I tried to start
00:03:57.240 a business and I asked them to tell me about that and they share their story. You know, a friend of
00:04:01.380 recently started you know a sign company and they bought the vinyl machine and they bought the
00:04:06.960 printer and they started getting customers but for whatever reason you know you had some bad
00:04:11.580 employees and all of a sudden after two years they had to shut it down and I get it business is tough
00:04:17.440 but what I've discovered is that oftentimes it's just do you have the consistency to stay in the
00:04:25.640 game. If you think about it, there's a very high chance that if all you did, if you just showed up
00:04:33.440 and stayed in the game and you were consistent for a thousand days, three years, that's it.
00:04:42.000 My argument is that your life could be dramatically different, dramatically improved.
00:04:49.240 Like if you woke up, think about this. There's only a few things that you can actually control.
00:04:53.660 you can control what you put in your mouth right you can work on your health you control what you
00:04:59.440 do with your body you can decide to hit the gym you control what you allow into your mind what
00:05:05.460 you focus on what you consume the news the information and you control what you do with
00:05:12.020 your time and just showing up right so if you actually controlled the controllables and you
00:05:17.720 were consistent 90% of the time. I'm not asking for 100%, you know, perfection here. Let's be
00:05:24.420 honest. You know, you're going to have a cheat meal. You're going to have a challenging day or
00:05:27.460 whatever. But if you showed up day five, day 10, day 50, day 100, start thinking about this 100
00:05:36.060 days in a row of compliance 90% of the time, what would your life look like? You know, making the
00:05:43.260 phone calls every day, 10 new customers a day, trying to build the business, trying to learn,
00:05:48.880 reading 10 pages of a book. These are all things that you can control. Pushing your dream forward,
00:05:55.720 you know, day 200, day 300, we're still in year one. And you start looking around and you see
00:06:01.660 your life absolutely transform. You're like, holy cow, I'm in the best shape of my life. I may not
00:06:06.540 have the financial results yet, but I'm showing up. I'm doing the work. I'm putting in the time.
00:06:11.440 on being consistent, you know, day 500, day 600,
00:06:16.800 and you work yourself through in your mind,
00:06:19.480 three years, a thousand days of consistency,
00:06:23.660 focusing on the controllables,
00:06:26.120 how much different could your life look?
00:06:29.740 What do you think the impact would be to your family,
00:06:33.040 to the people you love, to your community,
00:06:34.940 to your team member?
00:06:36.440 If you decided today was the day
00:06:39.660 that you go all in, you bet on yourself
00:06:43.020 and you're consistent for a thousand days, three years.
00:06:48.200 Here's what I believe in my soul.
00:06:51.160 You will absolutely be a completely different person.
00:06:55.260 You will show up in a thousand days and look back and go,
00:06:58.480 I am so freaking glad you, looking in the mirror,
00:07:02.900 you decided to put you first.
00:07:05.520 I'm so glad you're gonna be going to the store
00:07:08.220 and you're gonna be buying stuff
00:07:09.380 that you used to stress yourself over,
00:07:11.420 not having the money for,
00:07:13.260 but you know you did the work and you showed up.
00:07:15.600 You're gonna be strong, you're gonna have the energy,
00:07:17.760 you're gonna have the confidence,
00:07:19.840 you're gonna have the system, the beliefs,
00:07:21.660 because you showed up every day and you did the work,
00:07:24.440 you held the standard, you followed the protocol
00:07:27.100 and you were consistent.
00:07:28.900 That is what is missing today in the world.
00:07:32.300 People want these outcomes and they do it for 22 days
00:07:35.520 and they expect, I should be buff.
00:07:37.500 It's been 22 days of going to the gym, eating clean.
00:07:40.760 Why am I not buff?
00:07:41.980 That's not how it works.
00:07:43.780 Set a realistic goal, 1,000 days, 90% consistent,
00:07:47.920 and that will set the foundation for your success story.
00:07:51.440 Number three is to learn.
00:07:53.000 It doesn't matter what stage you are in business.
00:07:56.020 If you are just starting off,
00:07:57.720 I want to let you know problems will appear, guaranteed.
00:08:02.400 Doesn't matter how much you plan, your business plan,
00:08:05.180 you know, the people you get in your corner and the support you get from the banks and your
00:08:10.220 family and your friends and your community. I don't care if you have the most incredible
00:08:16.720 strategy plan, business model, et cetera, you will have problems. The only difference is,
00:08:23.200 do you look at those problems as opportunities to learn? You know, Napoleon Hill said this,
00:08:28.180 he says, every problem is a seed of an opportunity planted if you choose to find that seed of
00:08:33.600 opportunity every one of them here's what i've learned is no matter what's happening to me
00:08:38.640 external i know problems are not going away the quality of those problems are going to get better
00:08:43.920 and what i need to do is find the opportunity to learn from them you know when i was building
00:08:49.280 my coaching business i started by launching this program called idea to exit i put
00:08:54.080 everything into it i went into the studio i shot the course outline i wanted to be the best in the
00:09:00.080 the world. I was so excited about it. I literally spent months in a studio producing this program
00:09:05.160 that I reached out to some of my best, smartest friends. These are folks like Ryan Levesque and
00:09:11.080 Todd Herman and Andre Chaperone and you name it. Some very influential people online and I asked
00:09:17.600 them to support me in the launch. And I went all in. I emailed my list and I ran ads and I had this
00:09:24.880 big launch for this program. And within six days, crickets. When I say crickets, I mean,
00:09:32.760 it was so bad that Ryan Levesque called me to ask me if the tracking code that we'd given him
00:09:39.780 was broken on our end because there was no sales. He's like, I sent an email to my whole list,
00:09:46.220 multiple emails, my whole list, and we're not seeing any sales. I messed up the positioning.
00:09:51.340 I messed up the sales videos.
00:09:53.040 I messed up the campaign.
00:09:54.480 I didn't test it prior.
00:09:56.720 And I remember calling up my friend, Martin,
00:09:58.660 and I said, what do we do?
00:09:59.780 Like, I'm willing to do whatever.
00:10:01.160 I cannot, I wanna honor the people that support me.
00:10:04.780 What do I do?
00:10:05.200 And he's like, you need to reshoot your sales videos.
00:10:07.540 Probably need to retweak the delivery and the offer.
00:10:10.620 And I did.
00:10:11.440 I literally went the next day, it was six o'clock at night.
00:10:14.160 Next morning, I'm in the studio,
00:10:15.740 reshooting four different sales videos,
00:10:18.200 repackaging them, writing the email copy.
00:10:20.700 And for the next two weeks, I sat there and I manned the chat myself and I did whatever I could
00:10:26.080 to get customers into our world to honor the partners that have promoted the program.
00:10:32.340 Now, here's the learning is through all of that. I asked myself, what did I learn? What did I
00:10:38.220 learn? Well, I learned a ton about positioning. I learned a ton about course outline. I mean,
00:10:43.020 essentially you had a program called Idea to Exit, which means I'm going to help you boil the ocean.
00:10:46.220 Like it's a big promise. I should have called it Idea to Launch and I would have been way easier.
00:10:50.700 But Dan wanted to over-deliver, so I over-delivered.
00:10:55.060 Now, what happened from that is that launch process
00:10:58.420 was so traumatic in regards to like,
00:11:01.400 you know, we eventually, I think we did like 700K in sales.
00:11:04.020 It wasn't earth shattering,
00:11:05.760 but it was so traumatic in the sense that like
00:11:09.140 up to that point,
00:11:09.920 I'd always built reoccurring subscription businesses
00:11:12.140 that it forced me to ask myself the questions,
00:11:16.260 which is how would I wanna build this business
00:11:18.800 and who's doing it that way so I can go model and learn.
00:11:23.140 And that's what I did.
00:11:24.660 And today I run an eight-figure coaching company,
00:11:27.320 one of the largest in the world for software CEOs
00:11:29.780 because I took action, I moved forward,
00:11:33.440 I learned from that experience
00:11:35.000 and then pulled that back into my world
00:11:37.380 and found the person who could teach me
00:11:39.920 how to do it in a way that I wanted to.
00:11:42.500 That's the pinata protocol.
00:11:44.660 These three areas of being tenacious,
00:11:48.100 of being consistent, about being a learner
00:11:51.520 so that you take all of the forward movement
00:11:54.660 and the punches and integrate the challenges
00:11:57.920 that show up, the problems to be learnings
00:12:00.400 and then roll that back in to take another swing
00:12:03.780 at the pinata and you just keep hitting it
00:12:06.680 and you keep hitting it and you keep hitting it
00:12:08.920 and even when the how that you're working on
00:12:11.020 doesn't work out, you move to the next how
00:12:12.780 and that one might not work out
00:12:14.080 and you move to the next how
00:12:15.080 and that one doesn't work out
00:12:16.320 and you move to the next one and move to the next one
00:12:18.020 and you don't stop and one day that one big freaking swing bam it's gonna connect and when
00:12:24.180 it connects and that whole thing explodes okay and everybody says to you must be nice looks like you
00:12:31.860 got lucky overnight success you will know that you showed up and you put in the work you will know
00:12:39.380 that you dealt with the challenges and found the seat of opportunity in the learnings and moved it
00:12:44.500 forward and you will know every other person would have gave up every other person had reason
00:12:49.560 to give up that in a normal circumstance it would have been normal to deal with the pressure and
00:12:55.340 noise and just stop but you didn't you kept swinging and that's what this is about so if
00:13:02.180 you like this video i would encourage you to share with somebody needs to hear this message
00:13:06.220 if you have somebody in your life that you know is going through a tough time and they need to
00:13:10.160 hear this, please share it with them. It would be an honor to support them and support you
00:13:14.640 and share this message with them. With that, I hope this finds you awesome and I'll see you next week.
00:13:19.500 Boom!
