In this episode of Thick & Thin, we talk about a recent post from a conservative think tank, the McDonnell-Laurier Institute, about a post we wrote about racism in Canada. We also talk about the growing threat posed to conservative think tanks by dominionist society, and why we should be worried about it.
00:00:23.160But I think it really proves our point.
00:00:25.440Like this guy does not act very Canadian, not very polite.
00:00:28.560He accepts that he's not a Canadian. In fact, he uses it to justify his poor behavior. But what I
00:00:34.240find really shocking about this is his background. Like this guy's a Harvard educated lawyer. He
00:00:38.700works for a premier kind of conservative think tank, the McDonnell Laurier Institute. And here
00:00:44.820he is on our posts crashing out, you know, cursing and calling people names. I think this is going to
00:00:50.600be representative of something that we're going to see a lot more. And I think we're going to see it
00:00:53.920like this i think we're going to see it in more subversive and nefarious ways whisper campaigns
00:00:59.600behind the scenes i think that a lot of these existing conservative think tanks are going to
00:01:06.000be increasingly threatened by dominion society because one we're in competition for them we're
00:01:10.840going to be seeking out the same kind of support for members and donors and so on as we look to
00:01:15.400accomplish our mission but also the the we're going against the grain not only ideologically
00:01:21.000but stylistically we're kind of like the new kids on the block to be honest and we do things
00:01:25.660very differently than traditional think tanks obviously we have a very different style on
00:01:31.060social media we are looking to produce all sorts of think tank style studies and products like
00:01:36.640that but we're also have a very modern casual fun social media style and i think that these
00:01:43.160traditional actors these kind of old fogies are going to think it's absolutely unacceptable
00:01:46.920They're not going to like the way that we tweet in the way that we make fun of things and our brash language, talking like normal people and producing popular short form content.
00:01:56.860They're going to be jealous because they've always wanted to get this sort of attention, but they don't know how to use social media.
