there was another op-ed today published in the National Post that I wanted to talk about
00:00:04.960
by Anthony Koch. Most of you are probably unfamiliar with Anthony, but he is a kind of
00:00:10.560
CPC operative. He was on Poiliev's leadership team. He was the kind of press secretary, I think,
00:00:17.280
during the transition. And then he left to work for the Conservative Party of British Columbia.
00:00:21.520
He was their communications director during the provincial election. So he's a pretty,
00:00:25.240
he's a young guy, but he's a pretty well-established kind of CPC backroom type of guy. And he published
00:00:30.800
an article today to the effect of how conservatives helped the left undermine the West. And he goes
00:00:37.820
through and he takes a few international examples of failed right-wing parties in France and in
00:00:43.840
Germany. But eventually he does get back to Canada. And I thought this was very interesting
00:00:48.260
because this kind of represents an institutional CPC or adopting our talking points. Here it is.
00:00:54.740
he goes on to explain that brian mulroney and stephen harper played a role in the the kind
00:01:00.900
of establishment of multiculturalism and mass immigration in can the press progressive
00:01:05.460
conservatives and later the federal conservative party presided over the codification and expansion
00:01:09.300
of official multiculturalism a policy that under successive liberal and conservative governments
00:01:14.100
alike transformed national identity into something shared uh into something merely managed brian
00:01:20.100
Ryan Mulroney enshrined multiculturalism into the cornerstone of Canadian political consensus.
00:01:24.960
Stephen Harper, though more cautious, did little to challenge its assumptions.
00:01:29.220
The Conservatives spoke of integration, but funded the same bureaucracies of fragmentation.
00:01:34.740
Even in opposition, they supported the immigration policies advanced by the Liberal government,
00:01:38.640
even though when evidence showed integration was faltering and housing, health care and wages were suffering.
00:01:43.840
And let it be said plainly, this is not a rejection of immigration, blah, blah, blah.
00:01:47.640
He needs to add his pro-immigration cope at the end or else it wouldn't get published in the National Post.
00:01:53.940
And while this is kind of frustrating because the National Post ignores my emails and won't publish my articles,
00:01:58.560
it is a representation of the shifting Overton window.
00:02:01.500
We see these kind of CPC swamp monsters more and more willing to adopt our idea
00:02:07.000
and share them through Canada's biggest kind of ostensibly conservative publication.
00:02:13.160
Even in the last couple of months, as the conservative party has been more willing to
00:02:17.460
criticize immigration and multiculturalism, they haven't been able to talk about the role
00:02:25.440
They're just as responsible for this so-called immigration consensus as the opposition, as
00:02:31.980
But this willingness of these kind of younger kind of conservative new right folks, as they're
00:02:36.960
calling themselves, to grapple with even the role that they've played in multiculturalism
