Firebrand - Matt Gaetz - Episode 5: Biden Border Crisis – Firebrand with Matt Gaetz

This week on Firebrand, we have a jam-packed episode with breaking revelations regarding what s going on on the border, who is to blame, and an actual plan to solve the problem. We also have an explosive interview with Congressman Andy Biggs, head of the Freedom Caucus, pushing to impeach Joe Biden, and a breaking news report that the Pelosi's January 6th witch hunt committee has now placed a demand of preservation on the personal phone records of members of the United States Congress, including Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-GAETTO). And we also have a reminder that the Constitution does not allow for the invasion of another domain by a large number of people or things into another domain. And yet, we need to fight back against these people who would do great harm to our country. And I think the Republican leader, Kevin McCarthy, needs to step forward and remove Liz Cheney and Adam Kininger from all of the committees if they want to be Nancy Pelosi s representative on this witchhunt committee. 00:00:01.000 The embattled Congressman Matt Gaetz.

00:00:03.000 Matt Gaetz was one of the very few members in the entire Congress who bothered to stand up against permanent Washington on behalf of his constituents.

00:00:10.000 Matt Gaetz right now, he's a problem in the Democratic Party.

00:00:13.000 He can cause a lot of hiccups in passing the laws.

00:00:16.000 So we're going to keep running those stories to get hurt again.

00:00:20.000 If you stand for the flag and kneel in prayer, if you want to build America up and not burn her to the ground, then welcome, my fellow patriots!

00:00:29.000 You are in the right place!

00:00:30.000 This is the movement for you!

00:00:32.000 You ever watch this guy on television?

00:00:35.000 It's like a machine.

00:00:36.000 Matt Gaetz.

00:00:37.000 I'm a cancelled man in some corners of the internet.

00:00:41.000 Many days I'm a marked man in Congress, a wanted man by the deep state.

00:00:45.000 They aren't really coming for me.

00:00:47.000 They're coming for you.

00:00:49.000 I'm just in the way.

00:00:53.000 Welcome to Firebrand.

00:00:55.000 We have a jam-packed episode this week, breaking revelations regarding what's going on on the border, who is to blame, and an actual plan to solve the problem.

00:01:04.000 We also have an explosive interview with Congressman Andy Biggs, head of the Freedom Caucus, one of the smartest guys on the border.

00:01:12.000 He's pushing to impeach Joe Biden, Secretary of Homeland Security, Mayorkas.

00:01:18.000 But there is breaking news that we have to deal with.

00:01:21.000 CNN's Ryan Nobles is reporting that the Nancy Pelosi January 6th Witch Hunt Committee has now placed a demand of preservation on the personal phone records of members of the United States Congress.

00:01:35.000 What members of Congress?

00:01:37.000 The firebrands, the fighters, the names you know.

00:01:40.000 Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Jim Jordan, Andy Biggs, who's on the show later, Paul Gosar, Mo Brooks, who's running for the U.S. Senate in Alabama, Madison Cawthorn, myself, Louie Gohmert of Texas, and Jody Heiss.

00:01:56.000 He's running for Secretary of State in Georgia.

00:01:59.000 Very strong, very tough congressman.

00:02:02.000 Nancy Pelosi and the January 6th committee are doing this to derail the people who are doing most to fight for actual Americans and for the America First agenda and particularly for election integrity.

00:02:16.000 So be careful what you wish for, Nancy Pelosi, because power changes hands in Washington.

00:02:22.000 And if the new ritual that goes along with one party handing the speaker gavel to another party Is the expectation that phone records will be handed over, that personal information will be gone through?

00:02:35.000 Well then you know what?

00:02:36.000 We might have to play that game too.

00:02:38.000 When Republicans take over, there might be a lot of preservation demands.

00:02:42.000 Maybe for the stock trades of Nancy Pelosi's husband.

00:02:46.000 Maybe for the actual connections that exist between the jihad squad and groups that foment political violence here in America, like Black Lives Matter. 0.83

00:02:57.000 Like the bail funds that were set up to get people out of incarceration who had actually done harm to our businesses, harm to our fellow Americans, and who created a sense of unsafety on our streets.

00:03:10.000 So, we also have to recognize that it's particularly noteworthy the way the Democrats are going about doing this.

00:03:17.000 You know what?

00:03:17.000 If they want our phone records, They should just step forward and say they want our phone records exposed to the American people what tyrants, what Marxists they are truly being.

00:03:27.000 But instead, they issue a third-party demand to phone providers and then they leak our names because they want to create a cloud of criminality around people who are making legitimate claims for election integrity.

00:03:41.000 Now, I don't trust the FBI much.

00:03:43.000 You should go back in episode one and look at all of their frailties and flaws.

00:03:49.000 But the FBI, the director, even came out and said that there was no mass coordination of violence on January 6th, and yet the Democrats are using these tactics anyway.

00:04:01.000 So we need to get tougher.

00:04:02.000 We need to get stronger.

00:04:03.000 We have to fight back against these people who would do great harm to our country.

00:04:07.000 And I think the Republican leader, Kevin McCarthy, needs to step forward and remove Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger from all of their committees if they want to be Nancy Pelosi's representative on this witch hunt committee.

00:04:20.000 More to come later.

00:04:23.000 So in the United States, you have a constitutional right to not be invaded.

00:04:29.000 Bet you didn't know that.

00:04:31.000 Article 4, Section 4 of the Constitution states that the United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a Republican form of government and shall protect each of them against invasion.

00:04:45.000 Oxford Dictionary describes an invasion as an incursion by a large number of people or things into a place, an unwelcome intrusion into another's domain.

00:04:57.000 The difference between Constantinople and Istanbul is the people. 0.73

00:05:01.000 It matters not whether the Ottoman hoarders peacefully walked in the gates or stormed the ramparts. 0.76

00:05:06.000 The method of entry is irrelevant.

00:05:09.000 Once invaders are here, the damage is done.

00:05:13.000 It's not politically correct, but it is the truth.

00:05:16.000 America is being invaded across our southern border.

00:05:21.000 According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, 1,510,772 enforcement actions have occurred in fiscal year 21. That is over twice the amount of fiscal year 20. Biden and Kamala, they've totally failed.

00:05:38.000 On Joe Biden's first day as president, he signed just a plethora of destructive executive orders in a desperate attempt to undo the progress of the Trump presidency.

00:05:50.000 Biden immediately reversed Donald Trump's executive order, 13768, which calls for the prompt removal of Joe Biden's executive order on the revision of civil immigration enforcement policies and priorities paved the way for the immigration crisis that we are suffering right now, this year.

00:06:19.000 In fact, even the Washington Post reported that ICE deportations fell to a record low in April 2021. But it didn't have to be this way.

00:06:29.000 ICE deported less than 3,000 people in April, the lowest monthly total on record.

00:06:35.000 A 20% decline from March.

00:06:37.000 If ICE deportation numbers continue at this pace, we will likely deport fewer than 100,000 people in 2021. That is the lowest number since the agency's founding in 2003. And it's not justified.

00:06:52.000 You see, we've got over 100,000 people coming across the border illegally every month.

00:06:57.000 And over the course of a year, we're only going to deport 100,000 of them?

00:07:00.000 It's unsustainable.

00:07:03.000 Additionally, Joe Biden released a proclamation on the termination of emergency with respect to the southern border of the United States and redirection of funds diverted to border wall construction.

00:07:13.000 In other words, he stopped wall funding and decided to declare that there is no state of emergency at our southern border.

00:07:21.000 It's like he's entered a state of denial.

00:07:24.000 Shortly after positioning himself for failure on immigration, Joe Biden passed the buck and officially tasked Kamala Harris to lead the border effort.

00:07:33.000 What a terrible decision that was.

00:07:36.000 I've asked her, the VP today, because she's the most qualified person to do it, to lead our efforts with Mexico and the Northern Triangle and the countries that are going to need help in stemming the movement of so many folks stemming the migration to our southern border.

00:08:00.000 Kamala will never build the wall and will never stem the flow of illegal aliens. 1.00

00:08:06.000 In June, nearly three months since being appointed Tsar of the Border, Kamala didn't even manage to visit the southern border, as evidenced by this cringeworthy interview with Lester Holt.

00:08:18.000 There's one other topic I wanted to talk to you about, but let me just quickly put a button.

00:08:22.000 Do you have any plans to visit the border?

00:08:26.000 I'm here in Guatemala today at some point.

00:08:31.000 We are going to the border.

00:08:32.000 We've been to the border.

00:08:34.000 So this whole thing about the border, we've been to the border.

00:08:38.000 We've been to the border.

00:08:40.000 You haven't been to the border.

00:08:41.000 And I haven't been to Europe.

00:08:45.000 I don't understand the point that you're making.

00:08:47.000 I'm not discounting the importance of the border.

00:08:49.000 Kamala's been acting like the slacker in your high school group project, procrastinating until the final night with no plan and then leaving everyone else overburdened and stranded. 1.00

00:09:00.000 Some politicians tell you that the invasion is inevitable, an unsolvable problem.

00:09:05.000 This border cannot be commanded.

00:09:07.000 Mountains, rivers, deserts, gorges, it can't be tamed.

00:09:10.000 It may have a life of its own.

00:09:12.000 And finally, I would suggest that the proposal made by another candidate of building a fence based on just the common sense Practices that are being applied here doesn't work.

00:09:27.000 Which is windy.

00:09:29.000 It includes urban areas where there is a wall.

00:09:33.000 There's a wall across 700 miles of it, but it also includes mountains and deserts.

00:09:37.000 You need cameras.

00:09:38.000 You need electronic devices.

00:09:39.000 You need the aerial devices to be able to police it.

00:09:43.000 In the mountainous areas, you can't build a wall over a mountain.

00:09:45.000 So you need cameras and you need drones up there.

00:09:47.000 These are husks of humans.

00:09:49.000 They're not leaders.

00:09:50.000 They have no vision, no sense.

00:09:52.000 You think we can't build a wall, secure the border in 2021?

00:09:57.000 As of 2018, 21 countries had border walls, with even more under construction.

00:10:03.000 Heck, China has a big, beautiful wall.

00:10:05.000 A great wall, some might say.

00:10:07.000 They've had it since the 7th century BC. Israel has a very effective wall, too.

00:10:14.000 They're a serious country that means business.

00:10:16.000 They can't afford not to.

00:10:18.000 Matter of fact, neither can we.

00:10:22.000 Imagine telling the Chinese or the Israelis that walls don't work or that they're too costly.

00:10:28.000 They would laugh you out of their country.

00:10:31.000 I don't think the surrender the border caucus has ever even been inside a casino.

00:10:37.000 It is actually quite possible to know who is coming and going.

00:10:42.000 We are a nation of ring-door HD video cameras.

00:10:46.000 Heaven forbid so much as the Jehovah's Witness come to our door before we get a real-time look at them in Technicolor first. 1.00

00:10:53.000 It is not that the people of America don't understand that we must know who seeks entry to our home.

00:11:02.000 Our leaders.

00:11:03.000 They don't treat our nation as our home.

00:11:07.000 And it is a grave betrayal.

00:11:09.000 Instead, they allow our country to be overrun, trashed, violated.

00:11:15.000 In moments, you'll hear my interview with Congressman Andy Biggs.

00:11:18.000 He's the smartest guy on immigration in Congress.

00:11:21.000 He represents Arizona, a state on the front lines of this invasion.

00:11:25.000 He's chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, and he'll make the case that this job can be done.

00:11:31.000 And that the Biden Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Mayorkas, Deserves impeachment for not doing it.

00:11:40.000 There's a more dangerous part of the Invasion Invitation Caucus.

00:11:44.000 Those who argue that America should have open borders.

00:11:48.000 Really, no borders at all.

00:11:50.000 And then when people come across, these folks say they should be citizens.

00:11:56.000 This does away with the idea of the nation-state. 0.97

00:11:58.000 To these mindless fools, America is just a parking lot, a shopping mall, a group of producers and consumers, a GDP, an idea. 0.97

00:12:10.000 America is not just an idea. 0.99

00:12:13.000 Notice how the Afghans and Iraqis didn't exactly pick up a copy of the Constitution and create a functioning Jeffersonian Republic. 0.91

00:12:22.000 America is different.

00:12:23.000 We are a common people with a common culture.

00:12:27.000 We are unique.

00:12:28.000 Open borders.

00:12:30.000 That's a Koch Brothers proposal.

00:12:32.000 Really?

00:12:33.000 Of course.

00:12:34.000 I mean, that's a right-wing proposal which says, essentially, there is no United States.

00:12:38.000 But it would make a lot of global poor richer, wouldn't it?

00:12:41.000 And it'd make everybody in America poor.

00:12:43.000 Then you're doing away with the concept of a nation state.

00:12:46.000 And I don't think there's any country in the world which believes in that.

00:12:52.000 If you believe in a nation state, or in a country called the United States, or UK, or Denmark, or any other country, You have an obligation, in my view, to do everything we can to help poor people.

00:13:03.000 What right-wing people in this country would love is an open-border policy.

00:13:06.000 Bring in all kinds of people who work for two or three dollars an hour.

00:13:09.000 That would be great for them.

00:13:10.000 You know what youth unemployment in the United States of America today?

00:13:13.000 If you're a white kid, high school graduate, 33 percent.

00:13:16.000 A Hispanic, 36 percent. 0.75

00:13:18.000 African-American, 51 percent.

00:13:19.000 You think we should open the borders and bring in a lot of low-wage workers? 1.00

00:13:23.000 Or do you think maybe we should try to get jobs for those kids?

00:13:25.000 So I think from a moral responsibility, we've got to work with the rest of the industrialized world to address the problems of international poverty.

00:13:34.000 But you don't do that by making people in this country even poorer.

00:13:38.000 I love unwoke America First Bernie.

00:13:40.000 Where did that guy go?

00:13:42.000 The America Last lawmakers want to hand out citizenship as freely as we hand out orange juice at the Florida border.

00:13:50.000 Because they have too low a view of America.

00:13:54.000 They're the same ones who support racist critical race theory.

00:13:57.000 They're the same ones who think American history should revolve around our flaws, not our achievements.

00:14:03.000 Take a listen.

00:14:04.000 The reality is, Madam Speaker, I went down to the border as well, multiple times.

00:14:08.000 In fact, I see my colleague over here, I think he called me, I forget what he called me, but I think he called me a Congresswoman Coyote.

00:14:15.000 No, I'm not yielding to you, Mr. Gates, but appreciated that because I helped children come across the border as a member of Congress.

00:14:28.000 How could anybody be against that?

00:14:31.000 These were children traveling alone.

00:14:33.000 And had I not been there as a member of Congress, they wouldn't have gotten over and been able to be processed.

00:14:39.000 If we love America as much as we should, we should cherish citizenship more than we do.

00:14:46.000 Its allocations should be husbanded, restricted, I would say, not expanded to anyone who can lie, cheat, or invade their way onto our soil.

00:14:56.000 Upon accepting the Republican presidential nomination in 1924, Calvin Coolidge made the case.

00:15:04.000 Restricted immigration is not an offensive, but purely a defensive action.

00:15:09.000 It's not adopted in criticism of others in the slightest degree, but solely for the purpose of protecting ourselves.

00:15:17.000 We cast no aspersions on any race or creed.

00:15:20.000 But we must remember that every object of our institutions of society and government will fail unless America be kept American.

00:15:30.000 I think President Trump put it even more succinctly.

00:15:33.000 Why do wealthy politicians build walls, fences and gates around their homes? 0.92

00:15:39.000 They don't build walls because they hate the people on the outside, but because they love the people on the inside.

00:15:47.000 The left knows how to use language to seize power.

00:15:51.000 Just look at how they've done it on the issue of immigration.

00:15:54.000 Illegal aliens. 1.00

00:15:55.000 That's how we refer to people who broke the law to come to our country without permission. 1.00

00:16:02.000 It's how liberals, the media, Democrats refer to them.

00:16:05.000 Illegal immigration is wrong. 1.00

00:16:08.000 All Americans, not only in the states most heavily affected, but in every place in this country are rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country. 1.00

00:16:19.000 If making it easy to be an illegal alien isn't enough, how about offering a reward for being an illegal immigrant? 0.99

00:16:27.000 No sane country would do that.

00:16:29.000 Then the left did what they always do when they want to shut people up.

00:16:34.000 They invoked racism.

00:16:36.000 Calling people illegal aliens was racist.

00:16:39.000 So we had to call them undocumented. 0.81

00:16:42.000 My amendments aim to allow the Library of Congress to move forward with its proposed changes to replace the term aliens in subject headings with non-citizens and replace the term illegal alien with non-citizens and unauthorized immigration.

00:16:56.000 Let me be clear.

00:16:58.000 I believe that the term alien is not only offensive, but also dehumanizing.

00:17:02.000 These folks may not be U.S. citizens, but they're not from outer space.

00:17:06.000 The Biden administration orders U.S. immigration agencies to stop using terms such as alien and illegal alien when referring to immigrants.

00:17:15.000 The Washington Post says the change is detailed in memos to department heads.

00:17:20.000 Among the changes, the term alien will become non-citizen or migrant and illegal will become undocumented.

00:17:27.000 Undocumented is a lot different than illegal.

00:17:31.000 It makes it sound like the people who break into our country are simply missing some paperwork, like when you don't have the right three forms of ID at the DMV. A technicality, really. 0.65

00:17:42.000 They aren't undocumented.

00:17:44.000 They are uninvited, unwelcome, unworthy of citizenship or amnesty of any kind or flavor. 0.55

00:17:53.000 These days we rarely even hear the word undocumented anymore.

00:17:57.000 Now they're migrants. 1.00

00:17:59.000 Right.

00:18:00.000 The United States has a carrying capacity.

00:18:04.000 The indefinitely expanding population of illegal aliens along with the Biden administration's abrupt stop to securing our border.

00:18:13.000 Present significant national security and public safety threats to the United States.

00:18:18.000 As the left continuously posits that we cannot take care of our own people, they simultaneously widen the net and increase the burden on the already burdened U.S. dollar.

00:18:31.000 The Federation of American Immigration Reform found that the total cost of illegal immigration after subtracting the taxes they pay is roughly $116 billion.

00:18:44.000 Illegal aliens increase our budget deficits. 1.00

00:18:47.000 They expect to be taken care of, and if they're able to vote in federal elections because the ID requirement is eroded, well then they're going to be able to support and elect their free money, free healthcare Democrat sponsors.

00:19:02.000 We are the United States of America, not the Salvation Army.

00:19:06.000 This notion that U.S. taxpayers and citizens are morally responsible for distributing other people's money because Mexicans and Central Americans and South Americans want it? 0.99

00:19:18.000 It's ignorant. 0.98

00:19:19.000 It's half an argument. 0.99

00:19:21.000 It forgets the millions of people around the world that are impoverished.

00:19:26.000 Look, there are a lot of people around the world with very sad stories, but it's just a reality that the American taxpayer can't take care of all of them.

00:19:34.000 So why would we start by taking care of the people who break into our country? 1.00

00:19:39.000 While our social media influencers and woke politicians feel good about themselves and their virtue signaling, they fail to recognize that prioritization of illegal immigrants over American citizens hurts the poorest Americans first and most.

00:19:56.000 The border crisis and implosion of enforcement is happening on purpose.

00:20:02.000 All the Democrats want it.

00:20:03.000 They think it helps them expand a political power base.

00:20:07.000 They need new voters. 0.97

00:20:08.000 I mean, after all, in many places where Democrats have held political power for generations like Detroit, Chicago, New York, life sucks.

00:20:17.000 They need a new political coalition because they've let down those who have trusted them the most.

00:20:24.000 If the leftists can't convince Americans to vote Democrat, they will import people who will.

00:20:31.000 But there is more to this scandal.

00:20:33.000 It is bipartisan in all the wrong ways.

00:20:37.000 There's an unholy alliance between Democrats who want voters, the bleeding heart liberals that do their bidding, and massive multinational corporations that want a surplus of unskilled labor to keep wages stagnant and low for Americans.

00:20:55.000 It's not enough for these corporations to cut costs by shipping your jobs abroad.

00:21:00.000 They want to scalp your salaries and auction off your jobs at home too.

00:21:06.000 It's no surprise then that some Republicans are right there supporting illegal immigration and the policies that encourage illegal immigration.

00:21:15.000 They're shills for big corporations.

00:21:18.000 They slurp up the lobbyist donations that I refuse.

00:21:23.000 We have a broken border on purpose.

00:21:26.000 It's great for the Democrats voting base and big corps bottom line.

00:21:30.000 Don't worry, the Cato Institute says that immigration is good for GDP. But the loser in this transaction is the American people, and it is time that we put them first. 0.98

00:21:44.000 We're going to talk about it with one of Congress's best, Andy Biggs of Arizona, leader of the Freedom Caucus, thorn in the side of the leadership in both parties, former Arizona Senate President and America First to the core.

00:21:58.000 I hope you enjoy my conversation with Congressman Andy Biggs.

00:22:03.000 Here with Congressman Andy Biggs, who is leading the fight in the House of Representatives to impeach Joe Biden's Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Mayorkas.

00:22:12.000 I've joined Andy in that effort.

00:22:14.000 Andy, make the case for the Mayorkas impeachment.

00:22:17.000 So when we think of Mayorkas, most people don't even know who he is, but they do understand that there's a crisis on the border, that 213,000 people were apprehended last month, and also that We've had a system of records of people getting apprehended.

00:22:36.000 We also know that there are drugs flowing across like crazy and it's dangerous.

00:22:42.000 So people understand that.

00:22:43.000 But we make the case against Mayorkas by understanding that this is part of their plan. 1.00

00:22:50.000 This is not like that this just happened, they weren't unaware that it's climate change doing this or COVID because you had that a year ago.

00:23:00.000 But what this is, is this is Mayorkas willfully imposing policies that make Americans less safe. 0.80

00:23:09.000 He's told ICE. He's told them to not enforce as much.

00:23:13.000 And he's redirected some of his assets and Border Patrol agents and personnel.

00:23:19.000 They've reinstituted catch and release.

00:23:21.000 He's violated Title VIII. By doing so, he weakened Title 42, which was the health emergency law that allowed them to keep people out of the country.

00:23:30.000 And to that end, he's incentivized people to come through this through our border.

00:23:36.000 And so now we have a porous border.

00:23:38.000 We're less safe.

00:23:39.000 And he's done it on purpose.

00:23:42.000 One of our colleagues on the House Judiciary Committee, a fellow Republican, came to me recently and said, gosh, you know, Biggs is way out there on a limb wanting to impeach Mayorkas.

00:23:51.000 I mean, don't we need to hold hearings first?

00:23:54.000 And don't we need to kind of lay predicate and warm up the country to this notion?

00:23:58.000 Impeachment is this gravest, most serious of remedies.

00:24:02.000 And I know why I've joined you in this effort.

00:24:05.000 It's because I don't think that this is happening by accident.

00:24:08.000 I don't think that you impeach people based on incompetence and failures of judgment.

00:24:14.000 I think you impeach people when they are purposefully doing something to fail.

00:24:19.000 And so I want you to respond to that Republican criticism that, you know, well, we can be very forceful in our critique of Mayorkas, but oh, impeachment is a bridge too far.

00:24:30.000 Well, you know, you're exactly right when you say that we wouldn't impeach somebody for being merely incompetent.

00:24:36.000 But this is not mere incompetence.

00:24:37.000 It's, as you so artfully said, this is willful, this is purposeful, and the result is that we're less safe.

00:24:47.000 So what I would tell my colleagues and what I've tried to make the case to them is, Yeah, most Americans are seeing this.

00:24:53.000 They understand that there's this crisis along the border.

00:24:55.000 They don't really know who's in charge of it.

00:24:58.000 And we're going to have to let them know.

00:25:01.000 Most people in America have no idea that Alejandro Mayorkas is the Homeland Secretary and that he's the guy that's responsible for keeping us safe along the border.

00:25:10.000 So we have got to lay the predicate by lighting the fuse.

00:25:17.000 The fuse for removal I'm restoring us to some kind of sanity along the border is to impeach the guy that has purposefully made us less safe along the border.

00:25:29.000 And that's Secretary Mayorkas.

00:25:33.000 We need to impeach.

00:25:34.000 I mean, and once we do that, the American people will be able to put a face and a name to the disaster and the danger and the inhumanity along our southern border.

00:25:44.000 Now Andy, you have voted against every immigration bill that was brought to the floor of the House under the reign of Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

00:25:51.000 That probably won't surprise people.

00:25:53.000 What might surprise people is that you have also voted against Every immigration bill that Paul Ryan brought to the floor when Republicans had the majority.

00:26:03.000 And so if we are coming back into power, what is it that you think the Republican establishment and Republican leadership get wrong about the immigration issue?

00:26:12.000 Well, what they get wrong is that they think you can stop people from coming by granting amnesty to what would now be more than 20 million people.

00:26:24.000 So they want to trade amnesty for border security.

00:26:27.000 But what they get wrong, and this is just fundamental, we all respond to incentives.

00:26:35.000 So what's happening now is, every time we have a promise of amnesty, or even a discussion of amnesty, What we see happening is we see people flooding across the border.

00:26:47.000 So all of the policies that Donald Trump put in place that made us where we only had 40,000 apprehensions in July of 2020 when he was the president, you now have 213,000 because this group emasculated all of those policies and they provided those incentives.

00:27:05.000 So when you say, oh, Andy, what we're going to do is we're going to give amnesty And then we're going to secure the border.

00:27:12.000 They've got it backwards.

00:27:14.000 What should happen is you secure your border.

00:27:16.000 You make sure people aren't coming across.

00:27:19.000 And when you do that, you also give yourself an ability to have a rational, not a visceral, but a rational discussion.

00:27:27.000 And until you start deporting people, You're going to have these problems coming across the border.

00:27:32.000 What confidence do you have if the Republican Party retakes the majority that we will be done with the Paul Ryan strategy of trading amnesty for border security and that we'll actually deliver on the promises that we've made to the people?

00:27:47.000 Well, I don't have a lot of hope, Matt, and I'll tell you why.

00:27:53.000 The Republicans view the low-hanging fruit of amnesty as being DACA, the DACA population.

00:27:59.000 And they're going to tell you, oh, it's about 680,000, 700,000 people that are still in that DACA population.

00:28:05.000 Well, that's not true.

00:28:07.000 You start adding in people that fall into that range that were here before the deadline.

00:28:14.000 And then you start adding in people who are similarly situated.

00:28:16.000 And you start adding in the family members that they all want.

00:28:19.000 And next thing you know, you're talking 7 to 10 million people.

00:28:22.000 And so, whenever I hear Republicans say, well, you know, we could do with DACA. We need to do something positive on the DACA. And you and I have friends that think this.

00:28:33.000 I say to myself, You're missing the point.

00:28:37.000 Again, it's all about incentives, it's all about the rule of law, and they don't want to follow the rule of law.

00:28:43.000 And I'm thinking of people I know, family members, friends, who literally, and actually had a former employee, his family waited 13 years to come into the country legally, or to become citizens, but they came in legally.

00:28:56.000 And you're basically going to give amnesty to these people, and you'll incentivize more people to come.

00:29:01.000 You cannot make that trade-off.

00:29:04.000 If you want to have a secure border.

00:29:06.000 The border gets a lot of attention because we see the crisis there so concentrated.

00:29:13.000 Do you believe that an essential element of any Republican immigration plan must also demand internal enforcement of our immigration laws and actual deportations of people who've come here illegally?

00:29:27.000 Or is it enough to seal the border?

00:29:29.000 Because I'm of the view that we've had this problem so acute for such a long period of time that we've actually got to deport people who are in the interior of the country. 0.91

00:29:40.000 Do you share that perspective?

00:29:41.000 Yeah, 100%, Matt.

00:29:43.000 You're 100% right.

00:29:44.000 I mean, here's a way to think of it.

00:29:46.000 Right now we have about a million people with removal orders That have already had due process.

00:29:53.000 These are people who've had due process and an immigration judge tell them, you need to leave.

00:29:58.000 And what's happened is Mayorkas, Secretary Mayorkas, has basically told us to stand down.

00:30:05.000 We're not going to go out and find those people and remove them.

00:30:07.000 Well, you no longer are a country that has the rule of law when you do that.

00:30:15.000 A big step is you've got to get control of the border.

00:30:18.000 But if you do not remove people who get in here illegally, then the only other alternative, at least our Republican colleagues would say, is to grant amnesty.

00:30:28.000 And the bottom line is you lose all of the advantages of having a sovereign nation by granting amnesty, blanket amnesty.

00:30:39.000 You should be removing people, and not only should you be removing people, you should be moving your immigration judges to the border, keeping them on the border, and for a moment anyway, stop the backlog of cases and just deal with cases of the torrent that's coming across now,

00:30:55.000 because over 90% of them don't qualify for Is the U.S. government the largest human trafficker in the world?

00:31:11.000 Because we pick these people up at the border and then we deliver them right into the arms of the cartel.

00:31:15.000 And you and I have heard stories from the CBP agents who've told us that at times you'll have a group of 40 or 60 Illegal aliens who will all say they have the same cousin Guillermo in Miami and then turns out that is a cartel operative.

00:31:32.000 You know, is it your belief that impeachment articles against Mayorkas can hopefully create a different culture in the Department of Homeland Security where stopping the illegal aliens becomes more important than transporting them?

00:31:47.000 Yeah, I mean, Matt, we are the logistics arm of the cartel.

00:31:51.000 So you always have the last mile delivery.

00:31:54.000 Well, that's where we are today with the catch and release program.

00:31:58.000 We're sending people all over the country.

00:32:00.000 Andy Biggs, one of the smartest guys on this issue.

00:32:02.000 Andy, give your social media coordinates so folks can follow you and be up to date on key immigration issues.

00:32:09.000 Matt, I'm embarrassed to say that I don't know my key social media coordinates.

00:32:13.000 I just read them.

00:32:15.000 I couldn't tell you how to get to them.

00:32:17.000 But I hope that people would go to my website and pull some of those coordinates down and follow me on these issues.

00:32:25.000 You don't know what your own Twitter handle is?

00:32:28.000 You wait till the end of the interview to break the news.

00:32:31.000 Andy Biggs can't find himself on Twitter, but he can find all the right answers to the immigration challenges. 0.83

00:32:36.000 We will put them up on screen, Andy.

00:32:38.000 We will make sure folks know how to find you because this is important.

00:32:41.000 We have to craft A Republican majority and a Republican party that will fight on these things, that will not give up, that will not trade amnesty.

00:32:49.000 And what I think we've shared very bluntly with the American people here is that there's some work to be done, not just in persuading Democrats, but within our own party and in our own movement.

00:32:59.000 Thanks for being the leader of that.

00:33:01.000 Thanks for being the leader of the Freedom Caucus and for all you do in Congress, for the great folks in Arizona.

00:33:06.000 Yeah, thanks, Matt.

00:33:07.000 And before I go, I just want to say thank you and tell everybody who's watching this podcast, Matt's one of my best friends in Congress, and I'll tell you this, he does a great job representing his constituency, great job making the case, and quite frankly, he's the best debater in the United States Congress.

00:33:21.000 I'm grateful to serve with you, Matt, and keep up the good work.

00:33:24.000 Thank you so much, Andy.
