00:00:00.000 Right now I dream of leaving.
00:00:04.140 And that was the exact feeling I had too.
00:00:12.680 Hi and welcome to Flossom Talk. I'm Tash de Flå and this is Magnus Sundholm. I invited him back
00:00:19.240 here because I wanted Magnus to share some of his experiences working in Hollywood.
00:00:23.760 Mainly some of the bad ones, I think. Because how long have you been here, Magnus?
00:00:28.380 Way too long. Way too long. You've interviewed like everyone. I think we could say like,
00:00:35.860 is there anyone left that are still alive that you would like to interview in Hollywood?
00:00:40.900 Oh, good question. I can't. No, I don't know. I don't know. I can't think of anyone right now.
00:00:47.100 Okay, so the other day. Maybe because I want to leave.
00:00:51.460 So the other day we were over at Farmer's Market and having lunch and then Harrison Ford was just
00:00:57.600 passing us and he went into this French delicatessen store or whatever looking at cheese and we
00:01:04.700 started talking about him. And I've never met Harrison Ford, but you have, Magnus.
00:01:09.720 Yes, a few times. I have to say though, he looked really good. He's past 80 now and he's been in a
00:01:14.580 plane crash and he was walking around like Christmas shopping, I think.
00:01:20.180 Yeah, he didn't buy anything in that store. He went in for a long time.
00:01:24.060 You went after, right?
00:01:24.700 Yeah, no, I didn't.
00:01:26.820 I was standing there with Oscar.
00:01:29.460 Well, so tell me about your experience with Harrison Ford, Magnus.
00:01:32.700 The one that stands out is, of course, I went to the set of the Air Force One. Remember that?
00:01:37.980 No, that was before I was born, I think.
00:01:40.520 Come on. Air Force One, but you've seen it.
00:01:44.020 Have I seen it? No, I don't think I've seen it. Maybe I don't remember.
00:01:48.880 It's Die Hard on a Plane, basically.
00:01:51.020 Okay, so I should see that.
00:01:52.520 With Gary Oldman as the bad guy.
00:01:55.020 And yeah, we were invited down to Sony Studios, Culver City.
00:02:01.020 When you do those set visits, you sit around forever and you wait for the actors to come
00:02:04.920 and talk about the movie and the shoot and you get to see a few scenes.
00:02:07.940 And then you realize how boring filmmaking is because you hear someone say the same thing for 20 times or something.
00:02:14.720 Yeah, that's true, actually.
00:02:15.940 I was shocked the first time I did a set visit because I was like, oh, this is going to be so exciting.
00:02:20.460 And as you said, it is just waiting and waiting and waiting around.
00:02:25.100 So you were interviewing Harrison Ford?
00:02:27.340 Yeah, we were in a big hangar down there and they had an airplane body on a, I don't know what it's called.
00:02:35.720 A crane?
00:02:36.440 No, on a platform that moves.
00:02:38.580 A ramp?
00:02:39.520 Maybe, yeah, kind of.
00:02:40.860 It was a platform that moves, basically, so they could simulate turbulence and stuff.
00:02:45.980 So it's not real in the movie?
00:02:47.220 What?
00:02:49.960 But anyway, yeah, so, you know, it was exciting for 15 minutes or so to see that.
00:02:54.420 And, you know, to walk, we actually walked, I think we walked inside the plane.
00:02:58.940 And then, of course, you're told you're going to meet the actors and you get to talk to them, as I said before.
00:03:02.900 Anyway, yeah, and we did talk to Gary Oldman and he was nice back then, even though that was during his drinking days.
00:03:09.400 And he wasn't known to be super nice.
00:03:11.100 But I guess, you know, he was having a good day.
00:03:13.700 I think so.
00:03:14.400 Yeah, yeah.
00:03:14.880 And then, you know, then you're told, but Harrison Ford back then was, of course, the big star.
00:03:19.080 He was the superstar.
00:03:19.800 What year was this?
00:03:21.340 I have to go back and check.
00:03:22.840 Like 2000s?
00:03:24.120 No, I think we're talking 94 or something.
00:03:26.440 Oh, okay.
00:03:27.780 Let me check.
00:03:29.600 Yeah, I think 97 or maybe they shot in 96.
00:03:32.700 I think it came out 97.
00:03:34.080 Yeah.
00:03:34.720 Oh, wow.
00:03:35.520 Okay.
00:03:36.180 So, yeah, he was, you know, he was a superstar back then.
00:03:38.300 He was Indiana Jones and everybody wanted to meet him.
00:03:40.780 And, of course, he knew.
00:03:42.620 He, you know.
00:03:43.800 So, you sit around and you wait and you wait and there's a publicist with you on set.
00:03:47.920 And they say there were probably five or six of us who were invited to this thing, right?
00:03:52.220 And then there's a publicist with you that babysits you and makes sure that, you know, you don't interrupt shooting or sneeze when they're, you know, the whole thing.
00:04:03.140 And then you don't walk where you're not supposed to walk and all that.
00:04:05.400 It's very.
00:04:07.760 Controlled.
00:04:08.660 Extremely controlled.
00:04:09.520 So many rules.
00:04:10.140 Anyway, yeah.
00:04:11.020 So, we sit around and the publicist is getting stressed, but they have no saying, too.
00:04:14.540 And they say, oh, you know, he's going to come.
00:04:16.380 He's going to come.
00:04:16.760 He's going to come soon.
00:04:17.460 Don't worry.
00:04:18.480 And then we have lunch.
00:04:19.480 I think we were there at nine in the morning and we have lunch.
00:04:22.220 And then there's the afternoon happens and nothing happens.
00:04:25.660 You get a little bit of snack.
00:04:26.900 And then five o'clock comes around and regular people would go home and they say, oh, he's going to come.
00:04:31.960 He's going to come in a second.
00:04:33.020 Don't worry.
00:04:33.400 And then you get served a little bit of dinner.
00:04:35.520 So, you hang out a little bit longer.
00:04:36.940 And then.
00:04:37.060 At least you've got food.
00:04:38.200 Oh, yeah.
00:04:38.660 They feed you well on big, big shoots.
00:04:42.200 They have great catering.
00:04:43.780 And this was, of course, on the lot.
00:04:45.200 So, then it's even easier for them.
00:04:47.320 Anyway, I think at eight o'clock I said, now I'm going to leave.
00:04:51.260 8 p.m.?
00:04:51.840 Yeah.
00:04:52.300 You've been there for 11 hours.
00:04:53.340 I think we were there for 11 or 12 hours altogether.
00:04:55.860 And, yeah, in the end he never showed.
00:04:57.940 And the official explanation was that, oh, we're so sorry.
00:05:03.460 His family is here today and he needed to spend some time with them.
00:05:07.560 So, he, you know, he didn't have time.
00:05:10.100 Oh, my God.
00:05:11.260 So, I actually didn't meet him for Air Force One.
00:05:13.240 That's terrible.
00:05:13.920 I saw him, you know, 20 yards away or something.
00:05:17.840 Wow.
00:05:18.420 And then did they invite you back or what happened?
00:05:21.300 They said we were going to be invited back.
00:05:23.020 But, of course, that didn't ever happen either.
00:05:24.700 So, yeah.
00:05:25.460 So, you just sat there for 12 or 11 hours and no interview.
00:05:30.820 And then drove home for another 45 minutes.
00:05:32.760 And, yeah.
00:05:33.180 But we did get Gary Oldman, though.
00:05:34.720 Great day at work.
00:05:36.000 But then again, if, you know, if you look at it, we've been to so many sets that, you know, where movies bombed and you can't really do it.
00:05:42.520 No one's interested.
00:05:43.200 But, you know, when time comes around to publish these things right before they're released, the editor goes, oh, that one.
00:05:49.600 I saw some reviews.
00:05:50.440 We don't want that.
00:05:51.620 But this one, of course, became a mega blockbuster, even though you haven't seen it.
00:05:56.000 Yeah.
00:05:56.800 Maybe I have, but it's so many years ago.
00:05:58.840 I mean, it's 30 years ago.
00:06:00.080 I don't remember.
00:06:00.920 Don't you remember that line like, get off my plane.
00:06:04.120 And he pushes him out the door.
00:06:05.840 No.
00:06:06.520 Maybe I haven't seen it.
00:06:07.820 Well, that's the one to watch.
00:06:09.180 Now we've gone through so many movies during Christmas and we realize that most movies that were good were made in the 90s.
00:06:15.940 We watched.
00:06:17.280 Or we're getting really old.
00:06:18.520 Yeah.
00:06:19.220 Notting Hill we watched yesterday.
00:06:21.520 Love Actually.
00:06:23.280 Those were really amazing, like, good movies.
00:06:27.200 Like, classic.
00:06:28.340 Instant classics.
00:06:29.280 They don't make those anymore.
00:06:31.200 Let us know in the comment section if you know any instant classics that were made the last 10 years.
00:06:37.240 So, you had a Harrison Ford experience.
00:06:40.740 He didn't have a great reputation back then.
00:06:42.580 No, he didn't.
00:06:43.460 I actually met him when the movie came out later.
00:06:46.760 And, yeah, he was a grumpy guy.
00:06:49.420 He was grumpy.
00:06:49.960 I think he still is.
00:06:51.280 But he's gotten better, I have to say, though.
00:06:52.960 No, but I just saw that.
00:06:54.620 Or maybe less famous.
00:06:55.300 I think he left an award show recently because he got so pissed off because he didn't win.
00:07:00.740 And people said that he left.
00:07:02.300 Yeah.
00:07:02.420 So, I think he's still got it in him.
00:07:04.560 But he looked very peaceful when he was walking around at the farmer's market.
00:07:09.280 So, maybe he has a good personal life.
00:07:11.920 But, you know, he's not a Michael Fassbender.
00:07:15.080 No.
00:07:15.260 And, you know, let's be clear.
00:07:19.000 No.
00:07:19.760 I mean, with Michael Fassbender, though, I have to say, you get either or.
00:07:24.320 You get Mr. Jackal or Mr. Hyde.
00:07:26.480 And you never know which one you're going to get.
00:07:28.820 I got both.
00:07:30.060 Have you got both?
00:07:30.680 Oh, yeah, of course.
00:07:31.340 Yeah.
00:07:31.520 I think everybody has to do that.
00:07:32.960 Yeah.
00:07:33.520 Talking about Mr. Jackal.
00:07:36.540 Kevin Spacey.
00:07:38.160 Oh, my God.
00:07:39.700 I've never met Kevin Spacey.
00:07:41.580 But you met him several times.
00:07:43.320 And how would you describe Kevin Spacey?
00:07:46.120 You know, one of my first things in Hollywood, it was going to the set of The Usual Suspects.
00:07:51.480 Oh, wow.
00:07:52.200 Yeah.
00:07:52.660 So, it was a night shoot.
00:07:54.080 And I was in Long Beach for the explosion of that boat.
00:07:56.780 But anyway, yeah.
00:07:58.460 And then after that, I met him several times.
00:08:00.840 And not my favorite actor.
00:08:03.640 Or good actor.
00:08:04.840 But maybe not my favorite person, I should say.
00:08:07.440 Favorite celebrity.
00:08:08.940 You described him when we were talking about this morning.
00:08:10.780 You described him as the character he's playing in House of Cards.
00:08:15.400 He is that guy.
00:08:16.560 An arrogant prick.
00:08:17.480 Yeah.
00:08:18.280 Hi, everyone.
00:08:20.020 I don't usually make it my business to correct the media.
00:08:23.440 If I did, I wouldn't have time for much else.
00:08:26.140 And I think when we watch him on social media now, and he's come out and defended himself
00:08:32.340 against all these accusers, especially one of them, you can just see that he's just like,
00:08:37.980 he's learned nothing from his mistakes.
00:08:39.960 Yeah.
00:08:40.280 Nothing.
00:08:40.720 Absolutely.
00:08:41.280 I find it so fascinating.
00:08:42.760 All these people in Hollywood that makes big mistakes, and then they come out and like,
00:08:46.940 hey, I'm a new person.
00:08:48.040 And then you're like, no, you're not.
00:08:49.640 You're exactly the same person.
00:08:51.220 You haven't changed at all.
00:08:52.420 And I think Kenny Spacey is one of those people.
00:08:54.440 He's never going to change.
00:08:55.920 It's funny because people think that someone is a great actor when they play a certain type.
00:09:01.980 But I would say most of the time, they're not really, it's not a stretch.
00:09:05.360 Let's say that.
00:09:05.960 They are basically playing themselves, a lot of them.
00:09:08.300 And for sure, it seems like he is every time.
00:09:11.660 Yeah, if you're really good at playing an asshole, and that's what you get cast as a lot.
00:09:18.760 American Beauty.
00:09:19.700 Yeah.
00:09:20.320 House of Cards.
00:09:21.740 I mean, the criticism here comes from being an arrogant prick, of course, but also not wanting
00:09:26.480 to share anything and being cocky and unpleasant.
00:09:30.280 But, you know, after the scandal broke, now we kind of know why, because he was living a
00:09:35.160 double life.
00:09:36.000 He didn't, you know, he hadn't come out, and he didn't want anyone to know, I guess,
00:09:39.240 he was gay.
00:09:40.060 I mean, at one point, didn't they try to set him up with, what's her name?
00:09:43.380 Helen Hunt or something, and pretend they were a couple, and...
00:09:47.840 Everyone's like, I don't think so.
00:09:52.000 Anyways, talking about dicks.
00:09:54.820 So, we've spoken about Blake Wively and our experience with Blake, but you haven't spoken
00:10:00.660 about your experiences with Ryan Reynolds.
00:10:03.200 And then this morning, I was asking you about Ryan, and you mentioned that movie he did with
00:10:08.500 Denzel Washington, which had a Swedish director.
00:10:11.660 Yes, Safe House.
00:10:12.640 They shot it down in South Africa.
00:10:14.700 And that was, you know, he wasn't that famous then.
00:10:18.000 There was his basically kind of breakout role as an action star.
00:10:21.940 You know, that shoot was extremely troubled, I've been told.
00:10:25.100 And they didn't get along at all.
00:10:28.780 There were even fights about who was going to win fights and stuff.
00:10:31.580 It was, you know, it was ridiculous.
00:10:33.420 And then, apparently, they didn't want to talk between takes.
00:10:37.600 Yeah.
00:10:38.360 They didn't want to talk to each other?
00:10:39.960 Nope.
00:10:41.000 Wow.
00:10:41.360 Did they do press together, or did they have like...
00:10:43.920 They did press, but, of course, separately.
00:10:46.240 Yeah.
00:10:46.580 Yeah.
00:10:47.320 Because now, recently, that's one of those stories came back to haunt Ryan Reynolds, because
00:10:53.580 there was...
00:10:54.200 He was making fun of this.
00:10:55.520 And I'm positive that Denzel Washington didn't find this funny.
00:10:58.520 So, Ryan told this story in like a talk show or something, where he said that his phone
00:11:03.260 went off in the middle of this very emotional scene.
00:11:07.220 Oh, you mean it rang, obviously.
00:11:08.560 Yeah.
00:11:09.240 And Denzel got furious and asked, whose phone was that?
00:11:14.240 He said that without swearing?
00:11:15.160 No, I think he swore.
00:11:17.220 Swore.
00:11:17.980 Swore.
00:11:20.400 Swore.
00:11:21.360 And then, Ryan blamed it on some stunt guys.
00:11:25.100 They were like, looking at them.
00:11:27.280 Oh, basically saying, oh, that was his phone, not mine.
00:11:29.740 Yeah.
00:11:30.380 Yeah.
00:11:31.140 That's, yeah.
00:11:32.100 Well, let's face it.
00:11:33.740 Denzel is not an easy guy either, is he?
00:11:35.320 No.
00:11:36.160 You have some really serious Denzel stories.
00:11:38.500 Yeah.
00:11:38.880 I cannot bring them up here.
00:11:41.420 It would be too costly.
00:11:42.340 Magnus went to a party with Denzel and he was not behaving himself.
00:11:47.440 What?
00:11:47.740 What?
00:11:48.520 Yeah, that story.
00:11:49.520 We'll save that for later because I think also, well, that was, he was fun at the party,
00:11:54.520 wasn't it?
00:11:55.080 Well, so Denzel, I've, I've met him a few times and he's been like, I can see what you mean
00:12:04.860 because he is a bit full of himself.
00:12:06.800 And in my interview that I did with Mark Wahlberg, with Mark Wahlberg was just having fun and flirting
00:12:11.920 and like made this like big scene about it, Denzel was kind of pissed off.
00:12:16.940 And I think he played pissed off, but then I think he actually was because he was like,
00:12:21.420 what about me?
00:12:22.660 I have two Oscars.
00:12:24.640 Oh, he does?
00:12:25.340 Yeah, he does.
00:12:26.040 Yeah, he's a good actor.
00:12:27.080 Anyways, who else is on your list, Magnus?
00:12:28.820 Any women?
00:12:29.420 No, I mostly have, have had good experiences with women, I have to say, but there is one
00:12:35.900 that stands out and that is Mariah Carey.
00:12:40.320 And you've seen it, so you know what I'm talking about.
00:12:42.260 And you find this more funny than I do because I was on the other end of that funny story.
00:12:48.540 Yeah.
00:12:48.920 Let's see what happened, Mark.
00:12:50.420 I think you waited for her too, for a while, right?
00:12:52.540 Oh my God.
00:12:53.180 I mean, she's known for it, isn't she?
00:12:54.580 I think it was a Friday night or maybe it was a Saturday.
00:12:58.320 It was a Friday night.
00:12:59.200 Yeah, and I was the last guy to interview her and it was basically set up by the, it
00:13:04.860 wasn't basically, it was set up by the record company because she was going to, she was
00:13:08.400 going to, she was touring in Europe and she was going to have a big show in Stockholm.
00:13:11.940 And so it was, it was supposed to be a special.
00:13:13.700 We got half an hour with her TV thing.
00:13:17.000 So yeah, it was kind of a big deal, but I was the last guy out in the, in supposed to
00:13:23.120 be Friday afternoon, I think around four.
00:13:24.980 And I got called, I went, well, it was a sort of Harrison Ford thing almost, but I waited
00:13:31.420 around.
00:13:31.800 I think I was inside the room where we, where we were supposed to interview her at quarter
00:13:37.680 after eight.
00:13:38.520 So four, four hours.
00:13:40.340 Four hours delayed.
00:13:41.740 Okay.
00:13:42.340 Yeah.
00:13:42.580 Well, that was where everyone was like, yeah, yeah.
00:13:44.340 I'd be glad if she shows up tonight.
00:13:46.480 So, you know, she was.
00:13:48.340 So you got in there.
00:13:49.520 Got in there.
00:13:50.120 And, um, yeah, and then this, this whole, this 30 minute slot started.
00:13:56.520 Right.
00:13:56.880 And I think after, you know, she wasn't, she didn't want to play ball at all.
00:14:00.900 She was just like super negative and didn't want to talk.
00:14:04.080 And I think after three, four questions, I sort of, cause I was, I was basically praising
00:14:09.760 her trying to, you know, ask her, what is your, what do you dream of right now?
00:14:13.680 Yeah, because she had, I was talking about all her, what she had accomplished in life
00:14:17.220 and blah, blah, blah.
00:14:18.460 What did she say when you asked her, what do you dream of right now?
00:14:21.140 To go home.
00:14:22.380 Leaving.
00:14:23.040 Leaving, she said.
00:14:24.480 So much left to accomplish and, um, I can't wait to get started.
00:14:28.440 What do you dream of right now?
00:14:29.940 Right now, I dream of leaving.
00:14:34.820 And that was the exact feeling, um, I had too.
00:14:38.540 Um, and you know, we cut it short.
00:14:40.280 How long did the end?
00:14:41.140 No, I cut it short and called my editor.
00:14:43.680 And said, this is how she behaved.
00:14:45.700 What do you guys think?
00:14:46.620 And they said, let's, you know, let's not do anything.
00:14:48.920 Let's just dump it.
00:14:50.500 So that was a four and a half, basically four and a half hour wait.
00:14:53.440 And then no one got anything out of it.
00:14:55.500 So she wasted my time and I probably wasted hers a little bit, but you know, to this day,
00:14:59.220 I cannot listen to that stupid Christmas song of hers.
00:15:02.280 I just, I go like, ah.
00:15:06.480 Well, I think a lot of other, that's the thing.
00:15:09.380 When we exchange experiences with people, they usually are the same.
00:15:13.040 We have the same experience.
00:15:14.680 I have never met Mariah Carey though.
00:15:16.560 Be glad.
00:15:17.320 So, yes.
00:15:18.880 And I don't think I want to.
00:15:20.300 I actually met her after that too.
00:15:21.960 But, uh, but that was when I was a part of the Golden Globes and, uh.
00:15:25.100 I think she was nice.
00:15:26.880 Um, she tried more.
00:15:29.140 Let's say she tried more and she came with her own lights and stuff.
00:15:31.720 She was very, you know, very cautious about the way she looked and because there were photos.
00:15:36.640 She brought her own lights.
00:15:37.860 Yeah.
00:15:38.160 Because, you know, we used to take pictures back then.
00:15:40.260 Yeah.
00:15:41.340 She had to have from a certain angle.
00:15:43.100 And you used to have these big press conferences and then all the Golden Globe voters were sitting
00:15:47.840 there.
00:15:48.220 It was like 90 people.
00:15:50.240 Usually.
00:15:50.880 Usually 50.
00:15:51.620 And 50 and everyone took a picture with the star after the interview.
00:15:55.980 And then you had, she brought extra lighting.
00:15:59.000 Who else brought extra lighting?
00:16:00.620 Like their special light.
00:16:02.300 Um, well, a lot of, well, Beyonce for sure.
00:16:05.460 Beyonce.
00:16:06.200 And she was, how was she?
00:16:08.060 How was Beyonce?
00:16:09.000 That's for another episode.
00:16:12.500 No, but she was nice, but it was such a, you know, it was such a big deal around her.
00:16:17.040 I remember we, we were setting up the room.
00:16:19.060 This was in London.
00:16:20.080 Um, and we were setting up the room at a hotel and then her people came in with ropes, you
00:16:25.780 know, red ropes, like you have outside nightclubs and stuff and sealed sort of sealed off the
00:16:30.440 sides of this room where, where the press conference was.
00:16:33.340 And we were like, what is going on?
00:16:35.320 Well, you know, we, we, we don't want people to get too close to her.
00:16:38.500 And, and then we, our, our president, uh, said, but you know, these are people that meet
00:16:43.620 celebrities on a daily basis, basically.
00:16:46.420 So, you know, take it easy.
00:16:47.560 And they go, Beyonce is just not a regular celebrity.
00:16:52.580 And she wasn't, she flew in on a helicopter and landed on the, on the roof of the hotel.
00:16:57.000 Do you know what's funny?
00:16:58.620 I, yeah.
00:16:59.100 I met Beyonce in a store in New York.
00:17:03.760 So random.
00:17:05.180 It was like this arts and crafts store.
00:17:07.720 And she was walking around.
00:17:09.320 This is a long time ago though.
00:17:10.740 It must be like 18 years ago or something like that.
00:17:13.240 But she was huge and people are outside being really stressed.
00:17:16.480 Like Beyonce is in there.
00:17:17.700 And I walked in and she was just like doing like these arts and crafts stuff and buying
00:17:21.740 things.
00:17:22.200 So I was like, Oh, she's just like us.
00:17:25.720 Except for the bodyguards and the helicopter.
00:17:27.300 Anyways, and then we have, um, your favorite, my favorite.
00:17:33.620 Well, Blake Lively, obviously.
00:17:35.580 And also, you know, I didn't have a great experience with Anne Hathaway.
00:17:38.820 Did you have a great experience with Anne Hathaway?
00:17:41.200 She has not been the easiest person to deal with.
00:17:44.660 She's been kind of successful at rebranding herself from all the negative press that she
00:17:51.040 received and backlash from fans too, that she received back in like 15, 20 years ago.
00:17:56.920 I think she, I think she has lived a lot, um, on the fact that she played the bullied person
00:18:02.380 in A Devil Wears Prada.
00:18:04.040 The underdog.
00:18:04.940 The underdog.
00:18:05.640 She was bullied by her boss basically.
00:18:07.540 Yeah.
00:18:07.780 When she's in fact, you know, she's been behaving like the, the boss herself.
00:18:13.660 Yeah.
00:18:13.920 And she's been, you know, she, that's how it feels.
00:18:16.340 Like she is that person.
00:18:18.160 Really?
00:18:18.980 Well, I'm going, maybe I'm going a little too far, but you know, she's not, she's not
00:18:22.480 been.
00:18:23.460 She, she, I, so I met her the first time I met her, she was awful to me.
00:18:27.660 And then she was nice the next two times.
00:18:29.820 And then, as you know, she apologized, she apologized to me after I published that interview
00:18:35.640 last year, she reached out.
00:18:37.800 And what was part of that apology?
00:18:39.840 No, she said that she was going to invite me to interview her for her next project.
00:18:44.500 But you know what, Magnus?
00:18:45.620 I never heard from her.
00:18:46.700 What a surprise.
00:18:48.120 Did you, did you really think that that would happen?
00:18:50.880 No, I don't think so.
00:18:52.620 But you have to, you have to give her the benefit of the doubt.
00:18:54.620 I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt.
00:18:56.500 And maybe she is a better person.
00:18:57.880 But as I said, I don't think people really change.
00:19:00.740 Maybe she forgot.
00:19:01.980 Maybe she forgot.
00:19:03.100 Yeah.
00:19:03.320 Let's give her the benefit of the doubt.
00:19:04.340 No, but people don't change, do they?
00:19:06.800 I don't think so.
00:19:07.860 No.
00:19:08.040 Do you feel that love was more passionate back then?
00:19:10.920 Or people would sacrifice more for love than we do today?
00:19:14.020 No.
00:19:16.060 No?
00:19:16.860 No.
00:19:17.480 Do you remember your first crush?
00:19:18.880 Um, no.
00:19:21.500 We don't?
00:19:22.240 Okay.
00:19:23.260 Thank you very much.
00:19:24.120 Thank you very much.
00:19:26.060 That's what we said about chemist space.
00:19:27.680 Yeah.
00:19:28.640 Well, yeah.
00:19:30.220 Well, that's the thing.
00:19:31.380 And I think it's harder for people that are famous to change.
00:19:34.080 Because they have such big egos.
00:19:36.020 That it's really hard for them to kind of fathom this idea that there's something about them that's unlikable.
00:19:44.580 Especially since people that have been famous from a young age.
00:19:48.420 Like, you know, she was fairly young and she broke through.
00:19:51.000 And then you're surrounded by people that tell you how great you are all the time.
00:19:55.620 You know, no one says no.
00:19:57.060 And, you know, you get a head as big as a...
00:19:59.800 I think it's almost like a disease, you know?
00:20:03.620 It's like you're an alcoholic.
00:20:05.680 It's the same thing.
00:20:06.460 You're just like so obsessed with being famous and being treated in a special way.
00:20:12.580 And you can't handle it if people are not like that.
00:20:15.580 Yeah.
00:20:16.920 Anyways.
00:20:17.660 Who else is on my list, Magnus?
00:20:19.020 Oh, we spoke about...
00:20:20.020 But hang on.
00:20:20.580 Yeah.
00:20:21.140 Doesn't she have another movie coming out then?
00:20:23.300 Devil Wears Prada, too.
00:20:24.460 There you go.
00:20:25.040 Yeah.
00:20:26.280 Let's see if she invites me to interview her.
00:20:27.780 You're still waiting for that invitation?
00:20:29.360 Yeah, yeah.
00:20:30.080 Just saying.
00:20:30.720 Let's see.
00:20:31.100 And also a Colleen Hoover movie.
00:20:33.400 Oh, it is?
00:20:33.920 Yeah.
00:20:34.240 No.
00:20:34.620 I mean, yeah, of course.
00:20:35.920 Yeah, she's coming out.
00:20:36.860 Now I don't remember the name.
00:20:37.860 She has plenty of opportunities to...
00:20:40.000 Reach out.
00:20:40.860 And fulfill her promise.
00:20:43.880 So true.
00:20:45.020 So who else is on this list?
00:20:46.760 Oh, we have another man, Magnus.
00:20:48.820 Richard Gere.
00:20:50.060 Richard Gere.
00:20:50.940 Yeah.
00:20:51.360 Well, we go...
00:20:51.960 Now we go way back, though.
00:20:53.080 Yeah, okay.
00:20:53.940 But he was, you know, of course, in the 90s, he was super famous.
00:20:56.900 And I was young and green and excited to meet him, of course.
00:21:02.640 So this is 1992, my first junket ever.
00:21:06.080 Wow.
00:21:06.660 Yeah.
00:21:07.860 And this is a movie that he did with Kim Basinger and Uma Thurman.
00:21:12.020 And I think it was Kim Basinger who played a psychiatrist, which might have been funny in itself.
00:21:17.620 But anyway, it was called Final Analysis.
00:21:19.460 So this is two years after Pretty Woman.
00:21:22.220 So you can imagine Richard Gere was a superstar.
00:21:25.380 He was, you know, as hot as they came.
00:21:28.940 Yeah, he was hot.
00:21:30.720 He was hot, wasn't he?
00:21:31.820 Yeah, he was.
00:21:32.420 He was great looking and pretty woman, that's for sure.
00:21:35.780 And so I go to this junket.
00:21:39.160 It's down in San Diego.
00:21:40.360 So I go into this room and we wait.
00:21:42.160 It's a round table.
00:21:43.420 Probably eight of us, seven or eight of us.
00:21:45.420 And we're waiting for him to come in.
00:21:47.020 And he finally shows and he stands there like, stands like this.
00:21:51.820 And he's just looking at us like, okay.
00:21:54.400 And I, you know, there was always a chair for the, for the talent.
00:21:59.020 So I said, please, you know, have a seat and we can start.
00:22:01.660 And he goes, no, I'm going to stay and I'm going to listen to the first question.
00:22:05.440 And if it's stupid, I'm going to leave.
00:22:10.020 So that wasn't a good start.
00:22:12.080 What was the first question?
00:22:13.620 No, I don't remember.
00:22:14.800 I wish I had that tape.
00:22:15.940 But thank God it was, it was, you know, it was nice enough that he stayed.
00:22:20.660 And, but yeah, he wasn't, he also, you know, you have that superstardom and a head that
00:22:27.660 is, you know, and then.
00:22:29.520 I think that back then, you know, actors could get away with that kind of behavior.
00:22:35.720 Oh, are you kidding?
00:22:36.280 They got away with murder.
00:22:37.680 Yeah, because we all thought, oh, he's a celebrity.
00:22:39.640 He can act like that.
00:22:40.760 It was kind of okay.
00:22:42.580 You know, and then people started realizing as the year went by, like, oh, maybe, maybe
00:22:49.980 they shouldn't act like assholes.
00:22:51.860 Maybe they don't deserve.
00:22:53.720 But that took a long time.
00:22:55.000 Now, we spoke to this guy from Reuters, I think the other day, and he said it best.
00:22:59.760 He said that, you know, for years we have, we have sort of propped them up.
00:23:03.320 We have, even though they've been, if they've been assholes in interviews, we never really
00:23:07.680 talked about it.
00:23:08.540 We always protected them and then did a bland story about the movie and what they said about
00:23:13.000 the movie or, you know, we, we pushed our products.
00:23:15.640 We protected them.
00:23:16.700 Yeah, we did.
00:23:17.380 Yeah.
00:23:17.800 For some reason.
00:23:18.400 The only reason we did that was, of course, that otherwise we would have been blacklisted.
00:23:21.640 Yeah.
00:23:22.000 Yeah.
00:23:22.340 Never invited back to interview them again.
00:23:24.500 So if you wonder why we're not doing interviews anymore.
00:23:28.280 That's why we can sit here and talk about it.
00:23:30.280 Yeah.
00:23:30.760 So, yeah, I met Richard Gere twice.
00:23:33.060 My first time was really awkward.
00:23:35.620 I was in, he was in this hotel room and I had a one-on-one sit down with him and there
00:23:40.960 was this suite, of course, I don't remember which hotel it was, and it was this long table
00:23:45.600 there and he was sitting at the end and they pointed me to sit at the other end of the table.
00:23:50.980 So it was like a board meeting with no board members, just me and Richard Gere.
00:23:54.300 And I had all these really ridiculous questions.
00:23:57.520 I was so green at the time as well.
00:23:59.660 And I only asked him like a Buddhism because he was a Buddhist, which doesn't go with the
00:24:04.140 personality.
00:24:04.980 I think he still is, by the way.
00:24:05.920 Yeah.
00:24:06.400 But anyways, that was really scary.
00:24:08.500 I don't remember exactly what happened, but I remember I was really scared of him.
00:24:12.460 And then I met him again for this movie called Norman.
00:24:17.380 And then I had a TV interview with him and the director at the Pretty Woman Hotel.
00:24:22.560 Ooh, nice.
00:24:24.320 And he was quite funny then.
00:24:26.060 He was actually nice.
00:24:27.380 And I said, you know, well, how was it like for you to be back here at the hotel?
00:24:31.100 And he's like, I've never been here before.
00:24:33.360 What does it make you feel?
00:24:34.380 Well, you know, I don't think I've ever stayed here before.
00:24:37.120 And I realized when I was checking in here, too, that I don't think I've ever been here.
00:24:40.620 Really?
00:24:41.220 No.
00:24:42.500 And I've had people over the years tell me, oh, yeah, we stayed in the Pretty Woman's
00:24:46.320 suite at the Beverly Wilshire.
00:24:48.500 And I said, we didn't shoot there.
00:24:50.380 So there is no suite?
00:24:51.760 There is no Pretty Woman's suite?
00:24:53.060 No.
00:24:53.400 That bathtub isn't upstairs?
00:24:54.740 No.
00:24:55.240 No.
00:24:55.600 That was a set.
00:24:56.600 It was a built set.
00:25:00.120 That we did that was like really hotel stuff was at an abandoned hotel.
00:25:03.580 I think it was the ambassador it was called.
00:25:05.600 Oh, yeah.
00:25:05.840 They didn't shoot there.
00:25:06.700 Of course.
00:25:07.260 They didn't shoot at that hotel.
00:25:08.540 So he'd never been in the Pretty Woman hotel.
00:25:10.420 And he was like, they're selling these hotel rooms as the Pretty Woman's suite.
00:25:14.720 And it never happened there.
00:25:16.520 They shot at another hotel.
00:25:18.260 So he was happy to talk about that.
00:25:19.940 But then he was, you know, you can feel a little bit when a person is about to kind
00:25:25.160 of get their claws out.
00:25:26.460 Oh, yeah.
00:25:26.820 So you just have to sit there and like, oh, you know, try to have a stronger accent so
00:25:31.900 you can have a better experience.
00:25:33.600 I am from Norway and I speak like this.
00:25:35.360 I am just from Norway.
00:25:37.020 I didn't understand.
00:25:37.960 I couldn't ask that question.
00:25:40.700 Oh, anyways.
00:25:41.840 All right, guys.
00:25:42.700 That's it for this time because we have so much to talk about.
00:25:45.720 So if there's any celebrities you want to hear about Magnus or my experiences with, leave
00:25:49.660 a comment below.
00:25:50.820 We might ruin the image you have of them, though.
00:25:53.100 So be careful.
00:25:53.820 If there's someone you're a big fan of, maybe don't ask.
00:25:57.480 Well, but I think today things are a bit more transparent and the true selves will come
00:26:03.320 out.
00:26:03.560 And I think it's because of social media that no one can really hide anymore.
00:26:07.920 Before we only read about the celebrities in the magazines, you know, they were all everything
00:26:12.720 was kind of calculated in a way.
00:26:14.920 There might be some paparazzi photos of people, but mostly we saw them on red carpets and the
00:26:20.260 interviews were controlled.
00:26:21.280 Now everyone has a camera and you put it online and it's everywhere.
00:26:25.340 And I think people don't like rude people anymore.
00:26:29.040 It's a good thing, isn't it?
00:26:30.220 Yeah.
00:26:30.640 You know, I think so.
00:26:32.520 Maybe we will treat each other a little bit better.
00:26:34.740 Yeah, I think so.
00:26:35.920 I'm a fan of not being rude, as you know.
00:26:39.720 Anyways, that's it from us.
