00:00:00.000 Why would he say that Meghan would still be in touch with her father and have a father
00:00:04.820 if he knew what kind of person her father was?
00:00:12.400 Hi and welcome to Flossom Talk.
00:00:14.120 I'm Cianci Flore, journalist, Hollywood truth teller,
00:00:16.840 and your voice of reason in a town built on delusion.
00:00:21.220 Okay, I'm sure you've seen the headlines as well,
00:00:23.700 the disturbing news about Meghan Markle's father.
00:00:27.020 They found hundreds of images on his laptop and on his phone.
00:00:33.020 And we're talking about girls that are around 10 or 11 years old.
00:00:38.460 When this broke through the sun in the UK, Meghan Markle came out and said that she was
00:00:45.300 made aware of his behavior already back in 2018.
00:00:50.980 She had then received a letter from the police in the UK informing her that Thomas
00:00:56.940 ex-wife had sent them a letter with these kind of accusations. The letter was forwarded to Meghan
00:01:04.540 and she was made assure from the police, according to Meghan, that they were going to investigate
00:01:12.000 this. Now it's been revealed that the UK police did nothing. They're basically saying that this
00:01:18.700 didn't happen on our territory and we kind of failed to inform other authorities of this. At
00:01:26.000 the time, Megan's father was living in the Philippines. He's also lived in Mexico, but he's
00:01:32.260 originally from California. So during this whole time, everyone thought that the reason Megan
00:01:38.940 wasn't in touch with her father was because, as she said publicly herself, that her father has
00:01:46.740 spoken to the press behind her back. He's also arranged for paparazzi photos, and then he lied
00:01:52.660 to her about it. People have judged her harshly for it especially because her father has been
00:01:59.080 sick several times. He's been seriously ill and people are like you're so cruel for cutting off
00:02:04.560 your dad when he really needs you. It's not such a big deal that he spoke to the press. First of all
00:02:10.540 I have to say I can't even begin to imagine what it must feel like when you learn something like
00:02:16.940 this about your own father? And then how do you explain to your own children that they can't be
00:02:24.260 in touch with their grandfather because he is a monster? How do you explain it to them when they're
00:02:30.460 old enough to actually understand? And how do you look back at your own childhood knowing what he's
00:02:37.760 capable of? How do you process the memories from your upbringing when you now know what kind of
00:02:45.420 man, your own father is. I can also imagine the shame you feel and the pain you feel and the anger
00:02:53.860 or the emotions you have to deal with when you learn something like this about your own family.
00:02:58.700 Then there's another side of all of this that some people are talking about now as well.
00:03:03.740 If Meghan Markle knew this about her father seven, eight years ago, why did she not ask for more
00:03:11.120 answers from the authorities? Why did she not push them for this investigation so that his behavior
00:03:18.360 could not continue? Could she have stopped this from happening to other children? Also another
00:03:24.960 question is did the palace know about this? Did Meghan and Harry keep this letter to themselves
00:03:31.300 or did they inform Charles? Did they inform the queen about this? Did they inform his brother
00:03:37.520 about it? And did they choose not to say or do anything about it too? Or were they just kept in
00:03:43.960 the dark this entire time? We don't know any of that yet. But there are some details that I'm
00:03:48.720 having difficulties understanding. So you might remember that Meghan and Harry had a documentary
00:03:54.240 airing on Netflix in 2022. And in that documentary, Harry sat down on camera and talked about
00:04:03.020 Megan's relationship to her father and he said of course it's incredibly sad what happened she had
00:04:09.540 a father before this and now she doesn't have a father and he said that if it wasn't for Megan
00:04:15.400 meeting him and marrying him Megan would still be in touch with her father he said then Megan would
00:04:23.100 still have a father so according to what they're saying now they already knew that Megan's father
00:04:31.680 did horrible horrible things back then they already knew that for four years when Harry did
00:04:38.500 this interview so why would he say that Meghan would still be in touch with her father and have
00:04:44.700 a father if he knew what kind of person her father was did he do it just to get sympathy
00:04:50.340 for his wife to get sympathy for himself and the things that they sacrificed for their love
00:04:57.760 I don't know, but I have to say, I find that a little weird.
00:05:01.320 Meghan also talked about her father in the famous Oprah Winfrey interview,
00:05:05.380 saying there as well that the reason why they were not in touch anymore
00:05:09.100 was because she could not trust him because he went to the press and all that.
00:05:14.480 So there's that side of the story as well.
00:05:17.020 But let's get into what just happened now.
00:05:19.380 So according to the son who broke this story,
00:05:22.800 it was Meghan Markle's half-brother, Thomas Jr.,
00:05:26.380 who found all these images on a laptop in Thomas' house in the Philippines.
00:05:33.940 He found some stuff on the phone as well,
00:05:36.900 and he contacted the authorities straight away.
00:05:40.380 The documentary is so far off on so many different levels.
00:05:45.760 So many, it's just, it really, it's really a little bit disturbing.
00:05:49.980 Saying that, you know, she doesn't have a family and she doesn't have a father.
00:05:53.540 and then Harry saying that, you know, she has no father now. 0.99
00:05:58.040 That's just ridiculous.
00:05:59.560 So according to The Sun, Thomas Jr. reported this to U.S. authorities
00:06:04.440 back in July of this year.
00:06:06.840 And then after that, he found even more evidence.
00:06:10.520 And then he wrote a sworn statement to the Philippines authorities earlier this month.
00:06:18.520 Then there's an interesting question here,
00:06:20.520 because according to Thomas Jr., he reported this on July 10th,
00:06:25.500 and he says that he received no follow-up inquiries from what he had told them.
00:06:31.500 But in the Philippines, they confirmed that they had a special task force working on this
00:06:37.720 after he reported on it earlier this month.
00:06:40.320 On October 25th, which was yesterday, authorities in the Philippines confirmed
00:06:45.540 that they collected suspected material and a laptop for forensic examination.
00:06:52.080 They said that they need verifications for all of this
00:06:55.700 and they expect to get more results within a week.
00:07:00.200 Meghan Markle's father denies all of these allegations.
00:07:03.160 I'll talk about his statement a bit later.
00:07:05.040 But let's first look into what happened when Meghan Markle was told
00:07:08.980 or was informed about this in 2019.
00:07:13.180 Meghan said that she received this letter in 2018,
00:07:16.400 but according to the UK police, she did receive it in 2019.
00:07:21.780 And now her people said that maybe she didn't remember that right,
00:07:25.040 that she did actually receive this letter in January of 2019.
00:07:29.720 This letter was sent by Thomas Markle, her father's ex-wife, Rosalind Loveless.
00:07:38.140 She passed away in 2024, so she's not here to tell her story at this point.
00:07:44.780 There is an interesting thing here, though, that I heard someone else talk about,
00:07:48.680 that when Rosalind sent this letter to the UK police,
00:07:52.920 she had been divorced from Thomas for 44 years.
00:07:58.560 So it's really interesting that she chose to wait that long.
00:08:02.780 Yeah, we don't know yet what triggered her to actually send this letter when she did
00:08:08.580 and why she waited that long.
00:08:11.820 If there's something that she just found out after 44 years after she divorced him
00:08:17.580 or if this was something that she realized while they were married.
00:08:22.040 This is the woman that Thomas was married to before he married Megan's mom.
00:08:29.200 Meghan has now confirmed that this letter exists and the son has physically seen the
00:08:37.640 letters, so there's no question about the existence of this letter.
00:08:41.740 Now the big discussion surrounding this letter is why no one took it seriously, why was nothing
00:08:48.140 more done, who failed to investigate this further.
00:08:51.540 Anyways, during this time, of course you know, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle married back
00:08:57.580 in 2018. Her father ended up not going to the wedding. There was a lot of controversies
00:09:03.820 surrounding their relationship. And then we jump to December of last year, December of 2025.
00:09:13.660 That's when Megan sends her father a letter. She sends him a letter in the hospital. And according
00:09:21.380 to Meghan herself, she said in the letter that she wanted nothing more to do with him
00:09:27.000 and he was never allowed to meet his grandchildren. No one else has seen this letter. But interestingly
00:09:35.480 enough, when this happened, when she sent him a letter, the Daily Mail was in the hospital
00:09:43.140 with Thomas Markle. He had just amputated parts of his leg and I don't know if they were there
00:09:50.100 for that specifically. But when they were there, two lawyers knocked on the door of the hospital
00:09:55.920 room of Thomas and said, hey, we have a letter from your daughter. You need to sign here that
00:10:01.760 you received this letter. And according to the journalist who was there, one of the attorneys
00:10:06.920 said that he had to film that he received this letter so he could show Megan proof that he had
00:10:14.700 received it. They did not see that he actually opened the letter. They left and then Thomas was
00:10:22.600 left with the reporter from the Daily Mail in the room and she says in this recent article that she
00:10:29.320 waited for him for a long time to open it and he was shaking because he didn't want to open it
00:10:35.360 and then he ended up opening it in front of her. He did not read it out loud but she said that he
00:10:42.000 shook his head several times and then he folded it and put it back in the envelope and he asked her
00:10:48.280 to put it in his wardrobe so she did. Then this journalist Carolyn Graham explains how she called
00:10:57.700 him now after these new allegations and Thomas said it's all a lie and she asked him about this
00:11:03.780 letter and he said that he could remember receiving it but he couldn't really remember what it said
00:11:10.300 and he says he has no idea where this letter is now and she also says in the article that Thomas
00:11:16.860 has early signs of Alzheimer's so his memory is really blurry. Anyways right now Thomas is in
00:11:26.060 Florida he's at a rehab center there trying to walk again with a prosthetic limb after he had
00:11:33.440 to amputate parts of his leg as I said and he's now about 82 years old. Now as you know there's
00:11:39.380 been a lot of attention surrounding Meghan and Harry's return to the UK. As you know Prince Harry
00:11:47.220 has no contact with his older brother William and he's spoken to the king his father once but
00:11:54.340 they've not been in touch according to sources since their return to the UK a couple of months
00:12:00.300 ago. There are so many reasons to this fallout as you probably know. First of all it was that
00:12:05.780 Oprah Winfrey interview that both of them did that didn't put the royal family in any good light
00:12:11.480 then of course it was a Netflix documentary and then on top of that it was Prince Harry's book
00:12:16.640 Spare where he said a lot of things about the royal family. Now with this news coming out
00:12:22.520 Meghan is receiving a lot of sympathy and now people are starting to speculate if this could
00:12:29.460 repair Harry's relationship with his brother and Meghan's relationship with his family if they are
00:12:36.700 going to reach out to them but then on the other hand if the royal family already knew about that
00:12:42.580 original letter all of this is kind of old news to them so why would this change anything in their
00:12:50.280 relationship there is of course a lot of people out there speculating about all these things right
00:12:55.880 now. Then of course Daily Mail interviewed Thomas Markle about what had happened and of course he's
00:13:02.460 denying everything and he's saying that he's willing to take a lie detector test to demonstrate
00:13:08.960 that he's innocent. He also says that he believes that his own son Thomas Jr who reported this to
00:13:16.560 the police is probably behind that letter that was sent to the police and Meghan in 2019. So he's
00:13:25.560 claiming that that letter probably didn't come from his ex-wife but it was Thomas his son who
00:13:31.960 wrote that letter pretending to be his ex-wife. It's still a big question I mean my father and I
00:13:37.460 we talk about it quite a bit it's like we were all actually like happy for her when all this happened
00:13:41.620 but the slow turn of events showed the true colors of this woman. One lie turns into 20 other lies
00:13:48.580 she didn't have a family so. He also says that images that are found on his computer must be
00:13:54.700 planted there to ruin his reputation before he dies. He also said that Megan never said a word
00:14:02.920 to me about this letter accusing me of such terrible things. If Megan or anyone else had
00:14:08.260 come to me in 2018 and told me about the letter, I would have had a chance to defend myself.
00:14:14.440 So he's saying that if she already knew back then, why did she wait all these years to write this
00:14:21.340 letter to him and he says that she has the power to send the police or the fbi why wait eight years
00:14:28.020 why cut me off for a letter which contains the lies and not let me defend myself then the daily
00:14:34.480 mail did an article today saying that they spoke to some friends of the royal family speculating
00:14:42.140 how they're going to deal with all of this and they're saying basically that the royal family
00:14:46.940 is in a tricky situation right now they're saying after speaking to friends of royal family this
00:14:51.760 weekend one argument i heard over and over again went like this if family members reach out to the
00:14:59.420 couple will it remain confidential will it like megan's extraordinary revelation that she had
00:15:06.560 been shown a letter containing claims about her father's alleged offending by scotland yard in
00:15:11.540 2019, become public knowledge. On the other hand, the friends continued, if the roles do nothing at
00:15:19.980 all, will that become a source of resentment and eventual public complaint? The cold Windsor's
00:15:27.120 failure to communicate with Meghan at a time of such deep personal anxiety could be weaponized
00:15:33.280 by being leaked through Harry and Meghan's favorite channels. Harry is not thought to have
00:15:39.480 seen his father since his return, it says here. For Prince William, however, the stakes are higher.
00:15:45.740 He, more than anyone, has little reason to offer a consoling hand. In his book, Harry presented
00:15:52.080 his relationship with a brother he called his arch-nemesis, as strained and difficult. He even
00:15:59.400 described a physical altercation the pair had, which ended up with William ripping Harry's
00:16:03.700 necklace and knocking him to the floor. Then, of course, we remember a few months ago, Prince Harry
00:16:09.920 lost a big lawsuit against the Daily Mail. Yeah, Oscar wasn't sure about that one.
00:16:19.140 Yes, so Prince Harry now has to pay the legal fees for losing that lawsuit, which is an extraordinary
00:16:26.860 amount of money. So when the news broke that they were moving back to the UK, people were speculating
00:16:32.720 if it was because he's lost all his money, he wanted to be closer to his family.
00:16:37.900 There's so many people who have extremely strong feelings about this family.
00:16:43.000 I haven't been that invested in all of this.
00:16:45.560 I mean, I come from Norway, where we also have a royal family,
00:16:49.480 and it's even messier than this.
00:16:51.680 The only experience I have with Meghan Markle
00:16:54.400 is when I watched that Netflix show that she had about cooking, whatever,
00:16:59.180 and I could barely make it through one episode.
00:17:01.700 i thought it was so boring and so like fake and of course what harry did to his brother there's just
00:17:08.660 no excuse for that but anyways it says in this article that nothing's going to change between
00:17:14.660 william and harry because of this because he still feels so betrayed by his brother this weekend
00:17:21.940 prince william went on the graham norton show for the first time people love prince william
00:17:27.860 He comes across as this really sympathetic person.
00:17:30.900 I did want to be a policeman when I was younger.
00:17:32.740 I thought I could make a good policeman.
00:17:34.500 Yeah being a policeman I thought was quite cool
00:17:36.100 and then I went through a phase where I wanted to be a DJ which didn't go very well.
00:17:39.300 And at the same time Prince Harry is out promoting his new project
00:17:44.980 which is a master class in grief.
00:17:48.100 He was just interviewed by GQ talking about grief and how he deals with grief
00:17:52.900 and also if he's griefing the loss of his brother the relationship he had with his brother and his
00:17:59.860 family yeah yes of course i think from a family perspective again another massively relatable
00:18:06.580 issue for so many people people you know there's sibling disagreements there's uh you know broken
00:18:14.740 relationships between you know kids and their parents kids and one parent like that's that
00:18:21.380 that is that continues to come up with me the whole time. So they're both out there right now
00:18:26.460 being very public but who knows how this or if this is going to change any of the dynamic in the
00:18:34.520 royal palace. I think there are a few things here that I find interesting and I'm looking forward
00:18:40.200 to get answers to. There's definitely a big question for me why Thomas Markle's ex-wife
00:18:47.640 waited 44 years after they got divorced before she sent that letter to the UK police? And did
00:18:56.980 she follow up anything with them? Why didn't Meghan and Prince Harry follow up anything
00:19:03.880 with the UK police? It's been so many years. So should Meghan and Prince Harry have pushed more
00:19:11.240 for this investigation? And do you think that the rest of the royal family knew about this?
00:19:16.660 Were they informed about this letter when they received it?
00:19:20.040 Yeah, let's hope we find out more.
00:19:21.620 In the meantime, I have to say that regarding this,
00:19:24.260 I feel a deep sympathy for Meghan Markle.
00:19:27.440 I can't even begin to imagine, as I said in the beginning here, 0.99
00:19:30.920 what it must feel like when you learn that your father is a monster like this.
00:19:37.700 What does that do to a person?
00:19:39.960 Anyways, thank you so much for watching
00:19:42.400 and thanks for all your beautiful comments
00:19:45.040 and all your support and all the tips you're sending me all the time.
00:19:48.860 I really, really appreciate it.
00:19:51.200 Also, before I go, a big thank you to the journalist Jean-Philippe D'Arcane
00:19:55.200 for doing an interview with me with my reactions
00:19:59.340 after that documentary dropped in Belgium and what they said about me.
00:20:04.120 I spoke about that last week.
00:20:05.600 If you missed that, please go and watch that.
00:20:08.000 You understand what I'm talking about here.
00:20:09.620 I had some opinions about the legitimacy of the sources
00:20:13.900 and what they claim, the misinformation that they spread on the website
00:20:17.620 promoting this documentary about the Blake Lively Justin Poldoni saga.
00:20:21.980 And I got to response here.
00:20:23.980 So thank you, Sean Philippe, for doing that.
00:20:26.520 You can show the love for him on Instagram here.
00:20:28.660 And I'll leave a link in the description if you're interested in reading the article.
00:20:32.100 You can just translate it to English if you want.
00:20:34.900 Also, a big thank you to my executive producer, Oscar,
00:20:38.860 who is super busy as usual meditating in the background thinking about tomorrow's episode.
00:20:46.020 He also wants to remind everyone to subscribe to my channel and hit the notification bell,
00:20:52.720 right Oscar? And we'll see you tomorrow.
