00:06:29.000I got a special guest in the studio, by the way.
00:06:31.000He's not going to come on camera, though, obviously.
00:06:34.000But it doesn't matter because you guys are going to get a bunch of, you know, wisdom.
00:06:39.000Today, we're going to be covering how to get into the federal government, how to get in law enforcement in general.
00:06:45.000This is going to focus mostly on joining from the federal perspective, but, you know, we will probably end up getting some questions and stuff like that about how to get in at the state level, which, you know, is similar in some regards, right?
00:06:57.000As far as like requirements, which you know, what things are automatic disqualifiers.
00:07:01.000You know, the process, panel interviews, polygraphs, all that other stuff.
00:07:04.000So, my goal today for you guys is to give you guys the most thorough breakdown and analysis of how to get hired as a federal law enforcement officer.
00:07:15.000And obviously, I brought someone in that's very good at this.
00:07:18.000He's going to be off camera for obvious reasons, but it's going to be a lot of great information for you guys.
00:07:24.000I know we got a lot of young people here that want to get into this profession.
00:07:35.000I mean, guys, like I told y'all before, if I wasn't doing the podcasting, I'd still be working for the government and I wouldn't be regretting it at all, you know?
00:07:42.000Despite making a fraction of what I, you know, despite literally like it'd be a fraction of what I'm making now, it was such a fun job, bro.
00:08:12.000You have to be able to be a problem solver and get things done because anyone that works in law enforcement, especially from the investigative perspective, we all know that nothing ever goes according to plan.
00:09:05.000Um, I guess some of the things that we're going to be talking about, we're going to be talking about getting in as a police general inspection, criminal investigator, and then CBP and border patrol.
00:09:14.000As you guys can see, bottom left there, there's different job series.
00:09:16.000Okay, so the federal government works where it goes off of job series when it comes to what your position is, and that job series pretty much, um, you know, entails what you'll be doing, whether it's like you know, uniform police, general type of inspections, criminal investigator, which is also known as special agent, um, or you know, CBP and border patrol.
00:09:34.000Um, and the easy way to remember, because I know some of you guys might be like, Well, Myra, what's the difference between CBP and then border patrol?
00:12:05.000And if you're coming from a military background as well as military police, that will get you in the doors.
00:12:09.000But 0083, you have all those positions NSA police, Secret Service police, U.S. Capitol Police, Pentagon, FBI, and you also have the VA police.
00:12:20.000And that one is a little bit different.
00:12:22.000It's for obviously veterans, they get preference on that, on those positions, but it's a great career to start.
00:12:28.000And it's, I believe, eight weeks academy.
00:13:18.000And then you have all these different positions police officer in depth, police officer title 32, and they got all different types U.S. Marine Corps, Department of the Navy, Department of the Air Force, U.S. Capitol Police, Legislative Branch, Lateral Transfer, Lead Police Officer, all these different positions here for all the different agencies.
00:13:35.000Because all these agencies typically need some type of Law enforcement protect their buildings, do, I guess, you know, exterior security, arrest people that are like trespassing, crap like that, right?
00:13:55.000Yeah, so if you guys can see USA Jobs, the main thing that you guys want to do here when you apply to these positions is you want to make sure that, one, it's open to the public.
00:14:02.000And the reason for that is obviously that anybody can apply.
00:14:04.000You don't have to be a federal employee.
00:14:07.000Or, two, if you are a federal employee and you want to go into these types of agencies, or if you're coming from like military background or anything like that, veteran preference only, they're all going to be on there, guys.
00:14:16.000So, like, blue would be open to the public.
00:14:18.000And I believe, like, the little Capitol, whatever that building is, competitive service, that's going to be for all your federal employees.
00:14:25.000Those are your laterals from any other agency, right?
00:14:27.0000083, guys, that's if you want to start your federal careers, that's the one that you go to to start as a federal police officer.
00:14:35.000If you specifically want to go over to like 1811, it's a little bit more respected than just going into like your normal federal agencies that are not law enforcement.
00:14:44.000Because here, guys, you have to go through uniform police training program, which is about three months, three and a half months, depending.
00:14:53.000Agencies, once you get that certificate.
00:14:55.000So it's kind of like having your 1811, which we're going to talk about later.
00:14:59.000But once you get that specific certificate, you're able to lateral to these agencies.
00:15:03.000And that gives you the ability to basically move to the more desirable states and cities.
00:15:10.000And the other thing, also for them, it's kind of like, you know how states have like police officer, like post, right?
00:15:15.000Police officer service training or something like that.
00:15:17.000That would be like at the federal government level where you go to like one academy, probably a FLETSI, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, and then you get this thing and then you can use it for other different police agencies within the government.
00:16:09.000Okay, and I know them and Secret Service have their own academies as well in Maryland somewhere.
00:16:12.000That's correct, but those are the main um federal police academies guys all across the country.
00:16:18.000Uh, I would say Fletzy is probably the biggest one by far.
00:16:20.000Um, the FBI Academy obviously is big as well, but Fletzy houses like all the different federal agencies.
00:16:26.000So when you go do your like 0083 job series, like to be a police officer for the federal government, you're gonna go to Flexi to get that certification.
00:16:34.000And once you get that certification, guys, you can use that to transition to different agencies that have a police officer position, a 0083.
00:16:39.000But this is a fantastic, like, entry level position for you guys in it.
00:16:44.000You've done some of that stuff as far as like being a police officer.
00:16:48.000Do you want to tell them a little bit about that?
00:16:52.000You don't have to say which specific agency.
00:16:54.000Yeah, I'm not going to say which agency specifically, but yeah, I went through 0083.
00:16:59.000I went through to that academy, and there was a multitude of agencies there, guys.
00:17:03.000So once you get there, that's the good thing about it.
00:17:05.000Once an agency picks you up, And you end up going to that uniformed police training program, you're gonna see all these other agencies that you can technically lateral to once you finish.
00:17:14.000So that's the benefit of going to this academy and getting chosen by a job.
00:17:17.000So don't always think that you're gonna get stuck in that same job.
00:17:59.000It made me a little bit more well rounded.
00:18:01.000As far as when I was in the Border Patrol, which is great training, I was missing a little bit, you know, of, I guess, a different type of training, and I got it from UPTB, believe it or not.
00:18:42.000I don't know how clearly you guys can see the screen or not, but all the ones on the left hand side, you got your deportation, which is your ICE ERO.1.00
00:18:51.000One thing about that agency is that previously, I think they stopped it now.
00:19:24.000You got your immigration services officer.
00:19:26.000Those are mostly just working on your fraud, your what's it called, when you're applying for citizenship and through the approval process of immigration.
00:19:36.000You got your Bureau of Indian Affairs, that's specifically, if you're a Native American, you have a great opportunity.
00:21:03.000That's pretty much what these guys are doing, making sure that the entry points and all that stuff, the security systems are up to date to make sure that obviously that federal facility is protected.
00:24:59.000Now, I think the important thing to realize is like, you know, are you going to be like a general 1811 that does like investigations on other people or are you going like that are outside of the government?
00:25:08.000Or are you going to be an 1811 that does internal investigations like an office of inspector general?
00:25:13.000And because you guys are going to notice that like all of these different agencies, right?
00:25:17.000Like everything, like, you know, HHS or whatever, Health and Human Services, like they're going to have special agents, but those guys are typically going to be an OIG, which means they do internal investigations.
00:25:45.000You know, an FBI special agent might not be the same as a diplomatic security service special agent, but they're also basically still like 1811s, even though I think DSS is like 2501 or something like that.
00:25:55.000But they still have the same, they're considered 1811s as well, or criminal investigators.
00:26:10.000So, these are all the different types of agencies, guys.
00:26:13.000Obviously, we know some of the more popular ones, you know, FBI, DEA, ATF, Secret Service, HSI, you know, Deputy U.S. Marshal, even though it doesn't say special agent, there's still 1811s, postal inspector, blah, blah.
00:26:24.000Now, every agency has different authorities and investigates different things.
00:26:27.000Are there agencies that have a lot of overlap?
00:26:56.000If there are immigration violations that are criminal, a lot of these other agencies don't have the ability to really investigate immigration violations like that because they don't have access to immigration databases and A files and stuff like that.
00:27:06.000So, you're going to have to bring HSI on.
00:27:08.000ATF are the experts when it comes to firearms.
00:27:10.000If you want to get a gun, If you want to charge someone like found in possession of a firearm, you need to establish what's called interstate nexus.
00:27:19.000You're going to need to go to an ATF special agent for him to establish interstate nexus with the firearm, how it affects interstate commerce by maybe the slide was built in one state versus the spring was built in another state.
00:27:29.000Bam, now they're able to establish interstate nexus and you could charge that person.
00:27:33.000It's a wide window that they can utilize to establish a venue that way.
00:27:37.000But the bottom line, guys, is every agency is different.
00:27:41.000And they investigate different crimes.
00:27:43.000Yes, there's some overlap in some of them.
00:27:44.000This is why a lot of these agencies work together in different strike forces or whatever.
00:27:59.000These guys, a lot of times, CGIS, Coast Guard Investigative Service, these agencies with the military tend to investigate crimes that happen on base.
00:28:07.000Think of them as the detectives for that military branch.
00:29:17.000To take with the agencies that you like.
00:29:20.000And at the end of the day, guys, and Mari could tell you this you get your CITP certificate, that opens the doors for all these federal agencies, guys.
00:29:28.000You don't have to repeat that agency again.
00:29:30.000What they may have you do is just a shortened academy version of that.
00:29:33.000And some of these agencies, like DEA, is three weeks.
00:29:37.000US Marshals, if you lateral, and if they're hiring, which they're only going to open twice a year moving forward, and they're going to try to make it expedited, that would be like six weeks for that.0.84
00:29:52.000Or other, like FBI, they are doing this, which have never done this before, where they're accepting other 1811s, and that's an eight week academy.0.92
00:31:42.000Either in the requirements or somewhere there.
00:31:46.000This is why you got to read this, all of it.
00:31:49.000You got to make sure you go like read it, read it, because it'll ask you for certain forms if you're already a federal employee or if you're new.
00:31:57.000And if you miss a step, that's where you're cooked.
00:32:55.000But typically, a lot of these agencies are going to want some type of professional experience or prior law enforcement or you having a professional job before getting in.
00:33:26.000Just to show you that even if your main goal is to be in 1811, if you're watching this right now and you have some experience, you can apply for these positions.
00:33:34.000Obviously, you have a higher chance, right?
00:33:37.000But if you do not have that experience, if you're young right now and you think that these jobs are like sexy, they're wow, like that's what I want to do, start in the federal government, guys.
00:33:47.000TSA, BOP, which just lowered their standards.
00:35:00.000And this person, Was able to go from USPS warehouse worker straight into ATF.
00:35:06.000Now, this guy is about to be a GS13 in ATF.
00:35:10.000So, I'm proud of that, but that's just to show you that it is possible, but you have to let go of that ego.
00:35:16.000If you let go of that ego, guys, you can get that opportunity.
00:35:19.000And if you are one of those people that have like a master's or a bachelor's and you're using that along with experience, you can also get in.
00:35:24.000So, there's different routes for everyone.
00:37:09.000Once you get to your GSS, you're already, I think it is 11, GS11, GS12.
00:37:12.000You're starting to get higher up in pay and seniority and all that stuff.
00:37:16.000But yeah, just back to what I was saying Border Patrol is a great career.
00:37:21.000Yeah, you just got to be careful, guys.
00:37:23.000If you guys choose Border Patrol and you take that polygraph, it is going to probably take you out from a lot of other DHS positions because they're going to use that polygraph against you.
00:37:54.000With polys, like I guess they needed a lot of people, and then they did something with the polygraphs, made them harder, and then like some ridiculous, like 70% of people fail, yeah, something crazy like that, yeah, like 70% between 70 and 75%.
00:38:05.000That's why we're warning you guys about this because they instituted some new polygraph procedures that has a majority of people failing, bro.
00:38:10.000Yeah, it's not good, and so you're basically screwing yourself over, yeah.
00:38:15.000But it is a good place to start, guys.
00:38:16.000When I started, I didn't have to take it, I was very fortunate.1.00
00:38:18.000But you know, if I were to go back right now and I tried it, I would more than likely fail that polygraph because it's polys are man.1.00
00:38:25.000Guys, and look, the thing you guys got to know when it comes to polygraphs is like agencies use it all the time to evaluate their candidates.0.99
00:38:32.000It's just a part of the game for almost every federal law enforcement agency.
00:38:36.000The problem with polygraphs is that they're not really, you know, seeing if you're telling the truth.
00:38:39.000It's more about reacting to like bodily reactions, right?
00:38:43.000So, like if you're just a nervous person or you didn't sleep or you're burping or you drank caffeine before, all of that is going to obviously negatively impact your polygraph results.
00:38:53.000So, like, make sure you get a good night's sleep.
00:38:55.000You don't drink caffeine before you go in.
00:39:01.000But we're warning you guys about this because we don't want you guys to go in and take the poly for, you know, OFO or for Border Patrol and then, you know, you fail or something like that and then that hurts you later on.
00:39:13.000Like, look, let's say you fail a polygraph for one agency.
00:39:14.000That doesn't mean that you're automatically barred from other agencies.
00:39:18.000You can still get a job, but it's something to keep in mind with, especially with the way the polys are now with OFO and BP because I guess there was a, what, wasn't there like a batch of people that they hired that there was like some corruption issue?
00:39:31.000Very strict polygraph standards, and then those standards became too strict, they couldn't fill the manpower they needed.
00:39:36.000And then now they're trying to kind of reassess it.
00:39:38.000But the poly is still, you know, screens a lot of people out and a lot of good people that like good candidates that like you know just got nervous or whatever who you know showed you know deception detected, or you know, or they maybe they got an inconclusive and they say, you know what, now we're just not going to proceed with your application.
00:40:12.000And then that's when you, you know, they may kind of blackball you a little bit because they'll try to wonder, like, Well, what did you, what portion did you fail?0.55
00:40:20.000And so that's what most polys are what drug use, foreign relations, and then what else?0.83
00:40:44.000Like I said, if you get in, man, a lot of people don't know actually what they're getting into, right?
00:40:49.000And these are the people that move from the northern states and then they come down to the south, South Texas, and they get a culture shock and they want to immediately leave.
00:41:03.000And because I was with HSA, he was with Border Patrol, and like we ended up, I forget, like I think I was like doing, it was like when I first got to Laredo, like they were like having me rotate between the different Border Patrol stations, and that's how I met Danny.
00:41:14.000And he took me, I was out with him, like doing like a ride along to see how Border Patrol does things.
00:41:18.000So, yeah, no, that's how I met back in 2014.0.85
00:41:21.000So, it was, damn, it's been a long time.
00:41:24.000But, yeah, no, that's, yeah, it was, it's a good experience, bro.0.97
00:41:29.000And, yo, they make a lot of money, bro, because they get night differential, they get overtime, they get all that stuff, which 1811 special agents typically don't get, guys.
00:43:09.000But OFO has more like opportunities because remember, you can work at a major airport somewhere in a major city, you know, so like that's or international airport because you're going to see CPP at all the major international airports.
00:43:19.000But like if you want to get your feet wet and really like, you know, hit the ground running, Border Patrol is way more exciting position.
00:44:29.000You're not going to get, you know, North Dakota or something like that.
00:44:32.000You're not going to get a land border up top.
00:44:34.000You're obviously going to get sent somewhere to the southwest border.
00:44:36.000Now, I do want to let you guys know that, like, with these ice raids that you guys have seen where border patrol agents are going into major cities and making arrests, that's unprecedented, okay?
00:44:43.000I've never seen that before, ever, with what Trump is doing.
00:44:47.000You know, once Trump leaves, it's going to go back to the status quo.
00:44:49.000You're going to be on the southwest border doing a majority of your interdictions somewhere in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, you know, whatever, California.
00:44:58.000That's where you're going to be with border patrol 99% of the times.
00:45:01.000You're not going to get a northern border location.
00:45:03.000With CBP, you know, it's a bit more flexibility if you want to live in certain places because.
00:45:08.000Because they have airports and everything else like that.
00:45:30.000Yeah, so I also was, well, I don't want to say too many details about my life, but VA police officer, GS5, GS6, GS7, obviously they're GLs, whatever.
00:45:41.000They're entry level, and those are great jobs, guys, especially for veterans.
00:45:45.000If you're a veteran and you're looking for a job, you got preference.
00:45:50.000These are also in every state and every major city.
00:45:53.000So you're able to start your career there as a federal law enforcement officer and then move your way and transition to something better if you want to.
00:45:59.000Or if you just like that job, then you can obviously stay there if you want.
00:46:20.000Yeah, so you see right there, Bureau of Prisons says GS5, GS6, 7, and 8.
00:46:25.000Well, these guys lowered their standards.
00:46:28.000I know that it probably sounds bad, but it's not as bad as you guys think.
00:46:31.000It's actually more beneficial for you guys that don't have experience as much because you get to start your federal law enforcement career and your 6C retirement, which is your federal law enforcement retirement.
00:50:36.000Like Border Patrol, CBP, I think they're like $50,000 and $60,000.0.83
00:50:39.000But I mean, $50,000 for BOP is ridiculous.
00:50:43.000Dude, Trump coming in has made all these agencies aggressively hire people, bro.
00:50:48.000Because Trump is very pro law enforcement.
00:50:50.000So all of these different agencies are like finally hiring guys.0.81
00:50:53.000Working like under, dude, I remember you'd have to wait years for them to even put out an announcement for any 1811.
00:50:59.000The fact that like ATF, FBI, HSI, all these agencies are hiring people and all these different law enforcement agencies are like hiring, mass hiring right now is insane.0.97
00:51:07.000I've never seen this, bro, in well over a decade.
00:51:11.000But a lot of people did retire as well.
00:51:14.000So this is why all these different agencies are looking for people and they're coming up with very attractive incentives to get people to come in.
00:51:21.000So, and I think it's still 37 years old.
00:51:25.000Is the age limit, but they get a waiver for that, probably, right?
00:51:27.000Yeah, if you're military or some or prior federal, so I think they push that to 40 okay and up.
00:52:32.000They have the top secret clearance SCI.
00:52:36.000Most of the times you have your top secret, like I know with the marshals, but it's not activated unless you're doing like some sort of criminal investigation, terrorism, counterintelligence, espionage.
00:52:47.000You get cleared for a top secret, but like you don't really deal with that type of stuff really all the time, but you get cleared for it.
00:53:16.000But that, yeah, that matters, guys, because that's what's going to determine your background investigation, how in depth they're going to go.
00:53:21.000I know with the VA, it was a tier two, which is pretty basic.
00:53:26.000That is your most basic background investigation.
00:53:29.000Like you have high chances, as long as you don't have any criminal history or anything like that, they're not going to go to them death.
00:53:34.000But you have a fast, you can get fast tracked as far as your background investigation.
00:53:39.000You won't have to wait as much, as long as these other agencies, like, That have 1811 TS clearances because, like, those are very expensive and they have to be very thorough.
00:54:33.000Anything to do with like Department of Energy, anything to do with nuclear stuff, like because they got obviously Department of Energy, like special agents, they get a Q clearance because you're investigating.
00:56:48.000Like, if you miss one little thing and you think that you've put everything on your application, you're My favorite word, you're cooked, like you're done.
00:56:57.000And then you're like, why didn't I get the job, man?
00:58:30.000TSA, guys, if you don't have experience, TSA, man.
00:58:35.000I know that we see these guys at the airport, we get annoyed by them, but these guys have a bright future ahead of them if they just, you know, Do the right necessary steps to get out of there or whatever if you want to stay there.
00:58:49.000But TSA is another good job to start so that you can look better than the candidate that does not have experience.
01:01:14.000And also, are you asking these questions to go back to the state or are you asking to, is it going to affect you as far as on the federal side?
01:02:06.000My friend who has a clean slate can't seem to pass the polygraph for Border Patrol despite being truthful, which is causing delays for his application.
01:02:18.000My friend has a clean slate and he can't seem to pass a biograph for the Border Patrol, despite being truthful, which is causing delays for his application.
01:02:27.000Yeah, sometimes you got to move on, man.
01:02:29.000And I don't mean that in a negative way.
01:02:30.000Don't waste your time applying for that same position or your friend.1.00
01:02:34.000And like I said, try these other jobs, the 0083s.1.00
01:02:39.000Just because you fell out on one job, it's not the end of the world, man.
01:02:42.000Just don't keep putting all your eggs in one basket.
01:02:44.000And then eventually, you know, if he decides to even go back or try back with the Border Patrol, At least he has a background now, like as far as a better job.
01:02:54.000So, Mr. Clap Cheek says, I brought this up on your stream when you tested your new mic about a week ago.
01:03:00.000I have passed everything for Border Patrol to include the poly, just waiting for final suitability.0.68
01:03:05.000My question is, how would I go about getting an 1811 job after doing my time with BP?0.96
01:03:22.000On the PowerPoint, guys, on the PowerPoint, if you took a screenshot of it, it's going to tell you right there college degree required or not.
01:03:45.000So, like, yeah, you can go in from BPS qualified experience, but like, I would say get that bachelor's to make yourself more attractive because, like, I know FBI, DEA, I think even HSI, they want a BA, even if you have former law enforcement experience.
01:04:13.000Cosmic says, if two applicants have equivalent skills and experience, however, one is 5'6 and the other one is 5'9, my assumption is the recruiters would discreetly give preference to the taller applicant.1.00
01:07:29.000So, are you saying that for him specifically, it might be better for him to get on as a TFO first, see if he likes the job in the first place before he applies?
01:07:44.000How Fugops works and everything, like go into detail and explain it to them, like A to Z. If you're with the U.S. Marshals Task Force, Task Force Officer, TFO, you're obviously at a State Department level, you're obviously in a local county, sheriff, police officer, SWAT team, and you're a part of the U.S. Marshals.0.80
01:07:58.000You get special, you get deputized as a U.S. Marshal, you have the authority that they have.
01:08:03.000And without creds, you get, yeah, you basically become a full fledged U.S. Marshal.
01:08:08.000You get, you carry your state creds, but then they also give you federal creds.
01:08:11.000You can fly armed now, you have federal authority.
01:08:15.000You basically become a marshal, and that's what a TFO is, guys.
01:08:17.000I've explained TFOs to you guys before with, like, you know, if you join the JTTF or if you join, you know, the DEA and you're a TFO or ATF or whatever, the marshal service also has task force officers, and these guys get deputized basically as like deputy U.S. Marshals, and they get the same authority.
01:08:33.000So now these guys have state authority and federal authority.
01:08:37.000That's actually a really good idea for this guy.
01:08:38.000Since you're already a cop, bro, apply and get a TFO position with your local U.S. Marshals office in your area and see if you like the job in the first place.
01:08:49.000If you're not able to get that, like I said, for the news, for you guys that don't know, U.S. Marshals is going to hire 700 deputies.
01:08:58.000That's their intention to hire 700 new deputies.
01:09:01.000I forgot the timeframe, but their process is now streamlined from anywhere between nine months to 18 months, as to where before it would be three to four years to just get on, which was horrible.
01:09:13.000But you do have high chances of getting on there.
01:09:16.000The fact that you're SWAT, that's going to make you look good and they'll take you.
01:09:20.000And so anytime that you see these openings twice throughout the whole year, look for that 1811 position with the U.S. Marshals.
01:09:27.000And you know, bro, for you, since you're already a cop, dude, try to get on as a TFO and see if you like it.
01:09:31.000Because here's the thing when you come on as a deputy U.S. Marshal, bro, you might not get few jobs.
01:09:37.000They might stick you in courtroom security.0.96
01:09:39.000They might, I mean, you want to tell them through what the different duties are that he can get stuffed, do some bullshit that he might not want to do.0.81
01:09:44.000You're going to be put in operations, man.
01:09:46.000Unless you're in a smaller district where there's less court, then you have a higher chance of going out there straight off the bat to doing enforcement operations, which is your bug ops or featured of operations.
01:09:57.000But you also have to do your due diligence on that.
01:10:00.000You have to ask around these deputies if they're willing to give you information about.
01:10:04.000These districts, these offices to see what they mainly, primarily do once you graduate.1.00
01:10:09.000Because if not, you'll be doing, I'll just say, you'll be doing bitch work in the office.
01:10:15.000So most of these guys, they like coming in as TFOs and they like staying with the state or with local PD because they don't have to go through the academy.
01:10:24.000They don't have to go through that tough, vigorous academy of the U.S. Marshals and docket the perks.
01:10:29.000And you get docked pay too because what will end up happening is like a lot of the times you might not get hired at a level of where you were making the money for your local agency.
01:10:38.000So, these are all things to measure, bro.
01:10:40.000I would say for you, dude, you said, What are the chances of US Marshals in Alaska?0.97
01:10:44.000So, this guy's out in fucking Alaska somewhere.0.92
01:10:46.000Yeah, dude, I would say try to get on as a TFO and see how you like it.0.98
01:10:52.000And then from there, you know, go ahead and become a US Marshal if you want.
01:11:11.000Note the granny recommendations to put in my resume.1.00
01:11:13.000Norm, my normie job is security guard, and I do have a TS from the army.1.00
01:11:18.000Well, your TS might not be valid, bro, if you're no longer serving, but, um, I mean, I would say start with one of those entry level positions we told you about.
01:11:27.000And they said, I was considering doing corrections for a couple of years to get my foot in the door.
01:11:30.000Also, you think that's a good route, also, my?
01:11:31.000And you're going to be saving this video currently at work, I won't be able to watch it fully.
01:11:35.000Yeah, it's gonna, there's a reason why I'm streaming this everywhere, guys.
01:11:37.000We're live on kick, YouTube, everything.
01:11:39.000I'm gonna keep this video up everywhere, don't worry, guys.
01:11:41.000And I'm gonna put timestamps in there for y'all as well.
01:11:46.000Tyler says, I'm under investigation at work by HR for workplace intimidation.
01:11:51.000Do I have a chance to get into my local police department?
01:11:54.000It depends how severe it is, but I'm assuming you work in the private sector.
01:12:02.000I'm a little confused here by this thing.
01:12:06.000If it comes up, because it probably will come up in your police department application, have you ever been fired or forced to resign under some type of internal investigation?
01:12:14.000Were you under investigation or you currently under investigation?
01:13:15.000Obviously, I've seen a lot of people get canned because they broke up with somebody, their ex, and then their ex will say information on them just to screw them over.
01:13:22.000So, you got to be very careful on that and who you put.
01:13:26.000That's what's going to get you either the job or get you immediately fired.
01:13:29.000If you are in the job and they find out later, so you just got to be very accurate with that, be very precise, uh, and just be truthful.
01:13:38.000Um, Ada says, How am I able to join these organizations?
01:13:42.000I'm 23 23 in the army, I have a current uh security clearance, and I'm also working on getting my cybersecurity certification at the moment.
01:13:48.000Anything worth studying for in college to help get a job once I ETS?
01:13:54.000You're a good candidate, you're a good candidate to put in for any of these positions.
01:14:30.000Because they're going to ask you that.
01:14:31.000Yeah, they're going to ask you that.0.99
01:14:32.000Because you should prepare for this shit and do some stuff you shouldn't be doing.0.99
01:14:35.000But every polygraph covers three different parameters drug use, foreign context, and like, you know, espionage type shit, national security type stuff.0.99
01:14:43.000Like, they want to make sure you're not a spy.0.66
01:14:45.000And then finally, is criminal activity that you've done.
01:15:58.000All of you guys that are on here right now, whatever you may think about these jobs, just start your career in the federal government, put your foot in the door, and then go from there.
01:16:10.000You have the ability to start young, to go through many agencies, and then you can decide if you want to stay there or not.
01:16:16.000As you get older in your law enforcement career, you may be one of those people that says, I don't want to be knocking down doors anymore or anything like that.
01:16:23.000And then you decide to move to the Treasury or Department of Commerce as a federal police officer, Pentagon police, Capitol police, whatever.
01:16:31.000And you're making already over six figures because they match your salary.
01:16:35.000So you can be a GS 12, GS 13 somewhere else, go to one of those positions where you're just coasting through as you retire.
01:16:42.000Making over six figures because you've held a GS12 before.
01:16:45.000So even if you go down to like a nine or TR level, which is treasury, they'll try to match your pay as much as they can.
01:16:53.000And then you can actually apply for a supervisor position and they'll take you because you got the experience.
01:17:02.000I know that a lot of people on this chat want to move real quick with HSI and all of that, but get your foot in the door first, guys, and then you'll make your decision if you want to even go with HSI or Secret Service or whatever.
01:17:17.000But HSI is great, it's a great agency.
01:17:33.000You guys better not ask me no fucking questions about USA jobs or getting on the job after this broadcast with my guy here, okay?0.94
01:17:39.000So, get your questions in now while you guys can.0.97
01:17:42.000This is literally the most thorough breakdown on this.
01:17:45.000You know what else we should do for them, bro?
01:17:47.000Explain to them what the process is going to be like for almost every law enforcement position, like probably a written, oral board, pause, a psych evaluation, all that.
01:17:56.000We should probably take them through, like, what a generic thing would be.
01:20:51.000You've got so many different components of them.
01:20:54.000You've got, obviously, Border Patrol green uniform, you've got OFO blue uniform, and then I forgot to tell you guys about AMO, Office of Air and Marine, and Office of Air and Marine.
01:21:08.000And then you can see right here, here's a Coast Guard guy right here.
01:21:10.000So, Coast Guard, DHS is huge, guys, when it comes to all the different agencies that are what I call like first line defense, like interdiction type agencies where they're catching people.
01:21:18.000So, you got Board of Shaw, OFO, Coast Guard, and then AMO as well, which tan uniforms.
01:21:26.000I worked with AMO a lot when I was HSI in Miami because obviously they would catch all these smugglers trying to bring drugs in or illegal aliens.
01:22:08.000Like, we'd be doing surveillance or whatever.
01:22:10.000These guys would be the ones up in the air helping us with the surveillance.
01:22:12.000The very purpose of the air, maritime, and land law enforcement mission area is to detect and successfully interdict individuals attempting to smuggle narcotics or traffic human beings across our borders and work with our law enforcement partners to safeguard our homeland nationwide.
01:22:30.000Domain awareness is the persistent surveilling and.
01:23:28.000Remember, green uniform, you're coming in the wrong way.0.98
01:23:31.000Tan uniform, you're also probably coming in the wrong way, but you're maybe utilizing water or, I don't know, fucking some other way.0.94
01:23:39.000And then you got OFO, which is like, you know, at the airports as a legitimate way.0.92
01:23:44.000And then you got Coast Guard as well, which is a bit more out there maritime wise, right?
01:23:47.000Cause they're doing, they're literally like out and, You know, hundreds of nautical miles outside, seizing drugs, whatever.
01:23:53.000So, but at the end of the day, all these interdiction agencies push their cases to HSI for investigation or other 1811 positions, whether it's DEA, FBI, whatever.
01:24:04.000But HSI is the main investigative agency for DHS.
01:24:08.000Secret Service is in DHS too, but they don't really do investigations, to be honest with you guys.
01:24:13.000Domain awareness is the persistent surveilling and monitoring of not only our nation's airspace, but also the borders and our maritime environment.
01:24:22.000It's the ability to detect, track, monitor, and coordinate interdiction operations against nefarious.
01:24:28.000Yeah, these guys control all the planes within DHS.
01:24:31.000Because OFO and BP don't have their own air at all, right?
01:24:38.000Actors attempting to smuggle illicit drugs and migrants operating in the non commercial air and maritime environment.
01:24:47.000Domain awareness is vital to knowing who or what is attempting to enter our country at all times and making sure all possible threats to our nation are identified before they cross the border.
01:25:55.000Do you want to be an agent or do you want to be support staff?
01:25:58.000If you're trying to be an agent, bro, it's a long process, dude.
01:26:01.000You got to do a written test, then you got to do a meet and greet, then you got to do an oral board, then you got to do a polygraph, then you got to do the background investigate.
01:26:09.000I guess let's take them through like most agencies, like for law enforcement, how it generally goes from beginning to end.
01:26:15.000Yeah, you apply, guys, and then obviously, if you get the BQ, which is the best qualified list, that's going to get you that opportunity to get referred to the hiring manager.
01:26:23.000Once you get referred to the hiring manager, they decide basically who they want and they'll set you up for the next step, which could be right off the bat, a tentative offer letter.
01:26:31.000And then you obviously say yes or no to that job, that pay, that salary, whatever.
01:26:36.000And then you move on to the next step, which could be obviously an interview.
01:26:39.000Sometimes these agencies are writing sample.
01:26:41.000Yeah, sometimes they do direct hire, though, and you don't have to go through all that.
01:26:44.000So, it depends very much on what kind of announcement you get.
01:26:47.000And if it's direct hire, they're basically fast tracking certain things that they would normally do.
01:26:51.000If you're sworn law enforcement or something like that, you might be able to do it.
01:26:53.000But let's assume like the person is like fresh out of college and they're going from the beginning.
01:26:57.000Most you apply, then a lot of times you got to do like a written or sit down type of test of some kind.
01:27:22.000And if not, then just cut the shit out.1.00
01:27:24.000So, apply some type of written assessment or some type of thing to kind of filter you out, then a fitness test.0.99
01:27:30.000Then, if you pass that, then that's when you could probably get into the oral board interview where you'll typically be interviewed by supervising level.
01:28:15.000We're telling you guys the general thing.
01:28:17.000Some agencies might move it where the written assessment comes later or the physical test might come later, but understand that for almost every agency, you're going to have to do More than likely, something here.
01:28:26.000And every single one of them is going to do a background check.
01:28:27.000That's, that's, they're obviously going to do a background check.
01:28:30.000They're going to check your contacts, your finances.
01:28:33.000This is why it's so important, guys, to have a good credit score, man.
01:28:35.000Like, you have a bad credit score, that might disqualify you from getting a federal job because they look at it like you're kind of a risk if you have a lot of debt.
01:28:43.000You're in a lot of debt to get corrupted.
01:28:56.000Specifically in these entry jobs, also like BOP, like right off the bat, there's a lot of inmates that are trying to get you corrupt and they'll offer you money and all that.
01:29:03.000Yeah, you got to take care of that first.
01:29:05.000Yeah, so, but that's the general idea, guys, of how most law enforcement positions are going to take you through the different things.
01:29:13.000So, you got a polygraph of some kind normally, or a background investigation, a psych eval.
01:29:18.000You're going to have to do a piss test.
01:29:20.000You're going to do a structured panel interview.
01:29:22.000Some agency might do one or two of them.
01:29:23.000You're going to probably do some type of written assessment.
01:29:25.000You're going to have to do a fitness test.
01:29:28.000So, every agency is different at different times, but just keep in mind that these are things you're all going to have to do.
01:29:33.000And then when you do your background investigation, depending on what type of clearance you're trying to go for, Remember, the higher level the clearance, the more invasive the background check is going to be.
01:29:41.000You know, you got to have your finances in order, guys.
01:31:20.000Just, you know, hopefully you don't have like, you know, oh, also, guys, you can't have a conviction for a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, by the way.
01:31:32.000So, that's something else to keep in mind.
01:31:33.000But yeah, get in shape, bro, because the FBI finish test is not a joke.
01:31:37.000Ralph says if you have family with questionable immigration status, but I was born a U.S. citizen, will that affect my application process?
01:31:44.000I remember when I was going through with HSI, They were asking me for all of my parents' immigration stuff.
01:31:49.000I had to give all my parents' naturalization stuff, their alien, you know, their naturalization certificates, their alien numbers, all that stuff.
01:31:59.000So that is going to come up in the process, especially if you're going for a TS.
01:32:03.000That dude, currently 16 years in the Army, Chief Warrant Officer in Intelligence.
01:32:06.000I have a current CI Poly and Lifestyle Poly on file with TSSCI.
01:33:01.000But If you want to make as much money possible within the US government as let's say 1811, who I'd say Secret Service probably because they get like overtime, they get a lot of overtime, yeah, yeah.
01:33:12.000It would, but it's a miserable gig though, yeah.
01:33:16.000They have a high attrition rate, but like if your goal is like is make as much money as possible and you want to be like still in the government as 1811, I would say Secret Service and DSS because they get so much overtime, unlike other 1811 positions.
01:33:29.000But bro, if your goal is money, leave the government, dude, go private sector, my friend.
01:33:35.000Mr. Clapp, is your friend familiar with the one time call for the hiring center for Border Patrol to try to get a certain location if there isn't a desirable location?
01:33:41.000I don't mind the South Border, just wondering.
01:33:44.000Are you talking about the drop of the hat?
01:33:47.000He said, Is your friend familiar with the one time call to the hiring center for Border Patrol to try and get a certain location if there isn't a desirable location?
01:34:28.000If you're BP, be prepared to go to New Mexico, California, Texas, Arizona, and be on the southwest border on some breaking bad shit with desert, bro.0.99
01:35:12.000Hold on, let me just not to offend the guys that are in the northern, but if you started there, yeah, bro, those guys suck, bro.0.96
01:35:18.000Like, bro, you're gonna be just so you guys understand this, dude.0.86
01:35:22.000Like, you guys are gonna be all around here, dude.
01:35:26.000Like, you're gonna be in, you know, anywhere from, you know, the Valley area, McAllen, Harlingen, known for drugs, those areas are known for high.
01:35:34.000Laredo, traffic support, you know, all these different like port cities, right?
01:36:00.000You know, what's the big, what's the most, I'm trying to think, not, I'm trying to think, what's the most popular, or what the, I think it's in California somewhere for BP.
01:37:44.000Apply because it's a misdemeanor, bro.
01:37:46.000So, and it was 10 years ago because what they're going to ask is, have you ever been arrested?
01:37:51.000Then you can say yes and they can say for what and then you can say that.
01:37:53.000But typically it's a felony conviction or a conviction of misdemeanor, crime, and violence that's like automatic disqualifier because then you can't carry a gun.
01:39:57.000So, yeah, man, here, I would say, look, I'll drop this for you here, bro, so you can look at it and read it closely, but see if you're good there.0.71
01:40:34.000I mean, you're basically living there and you'll take the shift, you'll do a 16 hour shift, and it's a lot, man.
01:40:40.000So if you're one of those guys that wants to make money, especially when you're starting off, especially because of your TSP, your Thrift Savings Plan, that you want to invest to, guys, when you guys come in the federal government, put at least 5% of that so that you can become a millionaire by the time that you retire or at least have that amount when you retire.
01:42:40.000I'm a county employee and I applied for my country, my county's deputy sheriff, passive fitness.
01:42:46.000They brought out everyone individually to ask follow up questions and I backtracked on some questions and received my letter stating I failed the background check, but they didn't give me my reason.
01:42:55.000No, I have dual citizenship with the U.S. and Panama as well.0.99
01:42:58.000So you fucked up because you probably lied.0.99
01:43:03.000Or you didn't, or you weren't completely truthful.0.99
01:43:04.000Guys, this is why we tell you, bro, you always have to be like straight up in the beginning because you don't want to have to give different answers later.
01:43:12.000So he said here, they brought up, they brought everyone individually to ask follow up questions and I backtracked and some questions.
01:45:42.000You need to really be on point with not being a scumbag, okay?0.99
01:45:46.000Smoking weed, doing drugs, drinking all the time, partying, it's not worth it, man.0.98
01:45:51.000You have to keep your background very clean when you try to apply for jobs like this, man, okay?
01:45:55.000You got to be a square a little bit, I'll be honest with y'all.
01:45:58.000So, all you guys that want to do this, maybe you're young and watching this and saying, I want to do this in the future, you need to take a hard look and realize, like, you know, you're going to have to give up certain things, okay?
01:46:08.000Booze and weed are going to be two of them.
01:46:10.000Now, some people say, oh, well, you can still drink, it's legal.
01:46:12.000Yeah, but like, How many dumb things have we done before while being drunk?0.63
01:46:30.000Okay, so they don't do OSEDF, it's done.
01:46:32.000They dismantled it, unfortunately, which is kind of weird.
01:46:34.000Now they have these human smuggling, or sorry, human, they got these Homeland Security Task Forces, is kind of what they've replaced OSEDF with.0.94
01:46:40.000And for those of you guys who are like, what the fuck is OSEDF?
01:46:44.000It stands for Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force, which used to be a big way that multi agency investigations would be done with this stuff.0.84
01:46:51.000But long story short, there's always going to be a lead agency on OSEDF.0.90
01:46:56.000You know, there's no such thing as a fucking, as much as they'll sit there and say it's joint, there's always a lead agency, bro.
01:47:00.000So it depends on who started the case first or who has more evidence or who has more stake in the game or who's funding the operation more typically.0.95
01:47:08.000What usually kills a good investigation?
01:47:49.000But also, guys, like these golden nuggets here, like the Treasury, you got your Mint and you got your BEP, Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
01:50:43.000T Blizz, bro, I passed my poly twice for one city department in the same cycle, passed CVSA for another department, went to another department a week later and failed the poly.
01:50:53.000Same information, nothing changed in a week.
01:52:27.000So, but yeah, dude, um, Just because you're not able to utilize your skill set at the first agency you work for doesn't mean you can't jump to another agency.
01:53:23.000But what you need to know in general is that you are going to be asked questions about three main parameters national security, espionage, right?0.96
01:53:29.000They want to make sure you're not a spy, drug use, and then general criminal activity in general.0.64
01:53:35.000Have you ever committed a crime, you know, uh, didn't get caught for it or some shit, you know, whatever?
01:53:39.000So that's what they're gonna, that's what the polygraph is kind of like.0.90
01:56:07.000Wait, so few jobs, quorum security, oh, prisoner transportation and dealing with prisoners in general before they go to BOP when they're in the process of fighting their case still.
01:57:09.000You're transporting them from jail, from one jail to the other, or bringing them into the custody of the U.S. Marshals when they're remanded.
01:57:17.000And so, and then you're also doing, I don't want to say too much, but you're also doing just, you're doing paperwork, paperwork, courtroom security, and then you're working with the inmates, transporting.
01:57:45.000That's what everyone wants to do, is few jobs, guys.
01:57:47.000So, like, you have to be liked, and this is the importance of being a hard worker and being reliable and not being a snake.
01:57:53.000Remember those traits I taught you guys about being loyal and being good to people?
01:57:56.000That serves you when you get into federal law enforcement when you want to get good gigs, because by far, you know, few jobs is what everyone wants to do.
01:58:05.000So, if you're a fan, a lot of the family guys, though, they like doing what the courtroom security stuff.
01:59:29.000Yo, hope you guys enjoyed the stream, bro.
01:59:31.000This is probably one of my more informative ones.
01:59:33.000I'm going to keep it up on all the different platforms because something like this obviously is very important.
01:59:37.000You guys, we're going to put timestamps on it for you guys so you can come back and always refer to this.
01:59:44.000And, guys, there's never been a better opportunity to apply for the feds than now.
01:59:48.000I've never seen so many different agencies hiring, I've never seen FBI, DEA, ATF, HSI, all these different agencies hiring at the same time on top of all the interdiction agencies like CBP, OFO, and then, you know, BOP, that's crazy coming at a GL4, you know, with like nothing.
02:00:06.000Like for a lot of you guys that want to get your feet wet, get into the government immediately, that's a fantastic way to get in.
02:00:10.000And then you can really run up the overtime.
02:00:11.000And then if you guys don't want to do that, you know, we also showed you guys like some fantastic agencies to get involved with as a 0083, where you're a uniformed police officer, but for the federal government, these are cushy gigs.
02:00:22.000You can work, You know, nine to fives, whatever it may be.
02:00:25.000You're not like going hands on and, you know, doing patrol and all this other crazy stuff.
02:00:29.000You can make quite a bit of money and, you know, unlimited overtime.
02:00:32.000So these are all really good rums to go, guys.
02:00:35.000Just keep your, you know, don't do drugs, avoid alcohol, you know, keep your credit score on point.
02:00:41.000Make sure you're in the selective service.
02:00:43.000Make sure that you don't default on any government loans and you're not a felony, you're not a convicted felon and you don't have a dishonorable discharge.
02:00:53.000The or a conviction for a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, these crimes will all or those any types of those are all automatic disqualifiers, guys.
02:01:01.000Okay, and then as far as drug use, most agencies about seven years, five to seven years.
02:01:05.000If you haven't used drugs, you'll be okay.
02:01:10.000Yeah, they're being a little bit more lenient with it because they know that everybody's doing smoking weed, marijuana, but so yeah, you'll get a little bit more lenient.1.00
02:01:17.000You can do it, don't do that shit.1.00
02:02:09.000I'm gonna end the broadcast, um, hang out with my guy real quick a little bit, and then if there's still time or whatever, maybe I'll come back on.
