00:21:31.000 And we are live on the After Hours Podcast with my guest Mateo from Boxar Gym.
00:21:36.000 I go it all the time, folks.
00:21:37.000 The best gym in Miami.
00:21:38.000 Let's go!
00:21:40.000 Bust, Sexy.
00:22:06.000 We'll be right back.
00:22:44.000 That was quite an intro, brother.
00:22:45.000 Thank you, brother.
00:22:45.000 So, listen, I know you are, they may not.
00:22:48.000 Welcome back to the show once again.
00:22:49.000 It's a new format.
00:22:49.000 Thank you, brother.
00:22:50.000 Please tell them who you are.
00:22:51.000 My name is Mateo Otala, originally from Sydney, Australia, owner and founder of Boxer Gym, the world's number one facility.
00:22:58.000 And the thing about Boxer, guys, is community there, energy is there as well.
00:23:01.000 That's where I go to train myself every day.
00:23:04.000 I lost 30 pounds myself being at this gym, so shout out to you, and I feel great.
00:23:08.000 But first off, gym ownership in itself, everyone wants to own a gym.
00:23:11.000 Yeah.
00:23:12.000 But let's be honest here.
00:23:13.000 Looking back at your career when you started, how easy is it to start a gym?
00:23:16.000 And what was the first step you took to open up your gym?
00:23:19.000 Man, that's a great question.
00:23:20.000 Owning a gym is probably one of the hardest businesses to actually get into and actually take it to a level of where we're at today, just because it takes a lot of sacrifice, takes a lot of time, takes a lot of energy out of you.
00:23:33.000 Especially if you don't understand the concept of the gym business, it gets really hard, especially for coaches or trainers that are trying to get into that.
00:23:43.000 You've got to understand and cross your I's and dot your T's, especially when it comes to like.
00:23:48.000 Getting leases and understanding how much capital you got to get, you know, the layouts, the footprint to what type of square footage you need, all that type of stuff.
00:23:57.000 It's just like, it's very challenging and it can become very, very scary.
00:24:01.000 For me, at the beginning, I didn't think I was going to own a gym at this size.
00:24:05.000 It just sort of fell into my lap.
00:24:07.000 Yeah.
00:24:07.000 Just because I come from a background of, you know, the boxing.
00:24:10.000 I come from a boxing background where I've had multiple amounts of amateur fights over a long period of time.
00:24:15.000 And then I ended up becoming a coach.
00:24:17.000 And then from a coach to becoming a gym owner to now, Having the biggest brand, you know?
00:24:22.000 100%.
00:24:23.000 But being realistic here, right?
00:24:25.000 What's like an average ballpark I would need to start a gym?
00:24:28.000 100K, 200K, just depending.
00:24:30.000 Look, it just depends.
00:24:31.000 It depends on what type of gym you're trying to set up.
00:24:34.000 It comes down to are you going to go into a small box gym?
00:24:37.000 Are you going to go into a medium box gym?
00:24:40.000 Are you going to go into a big box gym?
00:24:42.000 How big do you want to go?
00:24:43.000 And what are you actually offering to the people to what you know, what you can give to them?
00:24:49.000 It's all about like what lane do you want to go down?
00:24:51.000 Do you want to go down the bodybuilding road?
00:24:52.000 Do you want to go down into the franchise model where you got like an F45?
00:24:56.000 Do you want to have a boxing gym?
00:24:57.000 Do you want to have a hybrid like what I have?
00:25:00.000 You know, it just depends on first and foremost, it's understanding what type of gym do you want to do and then setting the standard at the beginning where it's like, all right, well, let's start a little small and then let's turn it into something that could become really big.
00:25:15.000 And because most gyms feel in the first, I want to say six months, how do you survive to where you are today?
00:25:21.000 Man.
00:25:22.000 I did hours on hours.
00:25:24.000 At the very beginning, when I started, I was actually out of my apartment, right?
00:25:28.000 So I turned my apartment into a boxing facility.
00:25:31.000 The living room had a boxing ring in it.
00:25:33.000 The upstairs area had the bags.
00:25:35.000 The balcony had cold plungers.
00:25:36.000 That's crazy.
00:25:37.000 Yeah, I had a podcast room similar to this.
00:25:39.000 Where'd you sleep?
00:25:40.000 Bro, I actually, all the money that I had left over in my bank account, I used that to build that out.
00:25:46.000 And I had another lease that I was living in another apartment one level below.
00:25:51.000 And so, bro, at that time, there was no money.
00:25:54.000 It all went into that.
00:25:55.000 And so I just believed, I believed in me and I believed in my ability because at that time I realized that if I don't get out of the hole that I'm in, I'm going to be fucked.
00:26:05.000 Literally.
00:26:06.000 Yeah.
00:26:07.000 I'm going to be fucked.
00:26:07.000 So, not going back.
00:26:08.000 No, my back was against the wall.
00:26:10.000 I had to figure it out.
00:26:11.000 I had to try and like come up with something that nobody else was doing.
00:26:14.000 And so, in COVID time, when gyms were shut down, I took that as an opportunity to turn the condo into a boxing facility.
00:26:21.000 And then I ended up getting clients.
00:26:23.000 Clients, people started coming up to me and they were watching me outside in the parking lot and I was training myself.
00:26:28.000 And they were like, man, you know how to throw some hands, you know?
00:26:31.000 Like, you got hands on you.
00:26:32.000 Can you teach me?
00:26:33.000 And that's how it rolled.
00:26:34.000 Some of those clients that I had, I didn't even realize who they were at the time because I just came to the US, COVID hit, and one of my first clients was actually Steve Stout.
00:26:45.000 Oh, that guy has some bread, man.
00:26:48.000 Yeah, man.
00:26:48.000 Can you tell him who Steve Stout is?
00:26:49.000 That's my guy.
00:26:50.000 That's the owner of United Masters.
00:26:52.000 This is one of the top guys.
00:26:55.000 He's one of the top dogs.
00:26:56.000 Is he almost like a billionaire or close to that?
00:26:58.000 Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:26:59.000 Steve Stout's crazy.
00:27:00.000 That's my guy.
00:27:01.000 So he was one of my first clients.
00:27:03.000 I didn't realize who he was until I spoke to a few people.
00:27:06.000 And today, like from having that relationship from a coach to a client, it went from now I was being like very close friends.
00:27:16.000 Like I pick up a call, I ask him for advice.
00:27:19.000 And where I am today is not because of just the hard work I put in, but it's got to do with the clients and the network that I created.
00:27:26.000 100%.
00:27:27.000 And so through that time, I started building up a clientele base that most boxing coaches would never get.
00:27:36.000 Football stars from the 49ers, DJ Swearinger, another big football player.
00:27:41.000 I had race car drivers.
00:27:43.000 So I actually started getting into all the different types of industries from race car driving or football to music.
00:27:49.000 I realized, damn, I got something on my hands here.
00:27:51.000 So would you attribute your network to your success as well?
00:27:54.000 Yes.
00:27:55.000 Beforehand?
00:27:56.000 Okay.
00:27:56.000 Yes.
00:27:57.000 1000%.
00:27:58.000 The thing was, before I even, like I said, I wanted to train people, I wanted to get into that industry.
00:28:04.000 But I also, as a man, I had to cut all the bullshit out that I was on.
00:28:08.000 I thought to myself that, you know, people would come to me or People owed me something.
00:28:12.000 It was an ego problem I had.
00:28:13.000 And I didn't want to talk to people.
00:28:15.000 By me being on this podcast today, like, honestly, I wouldn't have been able to do this like six, seven years ago.
00:28:21.000 Yeah, you're very to yourself.
00:28:22.000 You just work hard and grind.
00:28:23.000 Yes.
00:28:24.000 I'm an introvert, but, you know, that's how I am.
00:28:26.000 I don't like big crowds or anything like that.
00:28:28.000 But I had to cut bad habits out in order to open the doors of opportunity that came my way.
00:28:34.000 So it just came down to like just cutting out bad habits that I was doing.
00:28:37.000 Can you give us like your top three bad habits that you cut off for the audience?
00:28:41.000 Yeah, top one of my top ones is you know, not being so rude to people when they come past and they say hi.
00:28:48.000 You're rude, yeah, I couldn't tell, bro.
00:28:51.000 And you know what?
00:28:52.000 I still feel like I do it still to today because people in the gym they'd be like, Yo, why you mean, mugging me?
00:28:57.000 Why doesn't he say hello to me?
00:28:58.000 All this type of shit.
00:28:59.000 And I'm like, Man, I'm not, I'm not like that.
00:29:01.000 It's just I'm locked in and I'm focusing on what I gotta get.
00:29:04.000 You know what I say?
00:29:04.000 I say, Okay, his mind is locked in something, he's focused right now.
00:29:07.000 I don't want to bother him.
00:29:08.000 That's what it really is.
00:29:09.000 But then I realized, like, I gotta cut that shit out and I gotta be a little bit more like.
00:29:13.000 Friendlier and say, Hey, what's up?
00:29:15.000 You good?
00:29:15.000 You know, and just come off on that level.
00:29:17.000 The other thing was, I got to stop feeling as though that people own me something or people got to like do something for me or they got to come to me.
00:29:25.000 Yeah.
00:29:26.000 Like that's not going to work like that.
00:29:27.000 You know what I mean?
00:29:28.000 Doesn't matter how you look, doesn't matter what you portray.
00:29:31.000 You always got to keep your feet on the floor and you got to cut the ego shit out.
00:29:36.000 Yes, we all have a little bit of ego.
00:29:38.000 We're men.
00:29:39.000 But yeah.
00:29:40.000 But don't get confused with ego and confidence too.
00:29:44.000 You know what I mean?
00:29:44.000 And that's where it's like there's a difference there.
00:29:47.000 And that's what I was able to do over this time frame.
00:29:49.000 It's good to have good confidence in who you are and what you're doing because that helps.
00:29:56.000 But having a bad ego all the time and just you're up yourself and all that, it's like, nah, bro.
00:30:01.000 Something we say in Australia, we're like, bro, you a dumb cunt.
00:30:05.000 Yeah, literally.
00:30:06.000 That's what you guys say for real.
00:30:08.000 Yeah.
00:30:09.000 So I guess, could you break down between Australia and Miami?
00:30:13.000 The difference is because Gold Coast is similar to Miami, right?
00:30:13.000 Yeah.
00:30:15.000 Is that correct?
00:30:16.000 Bro, Gold Coast is fake, man.
00:30:17.000 It's a replica of Miami, but they just tried to copy it and just paste it over there.
00:30:21.000 Really?
00:30:22.000 Yeah, yeah.
00:30:22.000 Okay, but I heard the baddies are there, though.
00:30:24.000 I heard the baddies are over there.
00:30:25.000 They work out.
00:30:25.000 The girls are hot.
00:30:26.000 Come on, bro.
00:30:28.000 Am I wrong?
00:30:29.000 No, not my type of thing, bro.
00:30:31.000 Like, living in Australia is just one thing.
00:30:32.000 Like, yeah, it's where I grew up.
00:30:34.000 I love it.
00:30:35.000 Like, there's some good people there and stuff.
00:30:37.000 It's just the way the economy operates there, it limits you, you know?
00:30:42.000 And talking about the Gold Coast, it's beautiful.
00:30:44.000 It's a beautiful place to go to.
00:30:46.000 It's just, it doesn't have the energy.
00:30:48.000 It doesn't have the go getters.
00:30:48.000 It doesn't have the vibe.
00:30:49.000 It doesn't have, you know, that opportunity for you to be able to be who you want to be and grow the way you want to grow.
00:30:55.000 Okay.
00:30:56.000 It limits you.
00:30:57.000 So, being here in Miami for us is like, it's the biggest opportunity.
00:31:01.000 It's the best.
00:31:02.000 So, someone's watching the stream right now, right?
00:31:02.000 It is.
00:31:04.000 Let's say they want to travel to Australia.
00:31:05.000 Where should they go?
00:31:06.000 You gotta go to Sydney, Australia.
00:31:06.000 And why?
00:31:08.000 You gotta go to Darling Harbor.
00:31:08.000 Okay.
00:31:10.000 You gotta go to Bondi.
00:31:11.000 You gotta go to the Great Barrier Reef.
00:31:13.000 Make sure you don't get eaten by sharks.
00:31:15.000 Where's the guy, Young Philly, that got arrested?
00:31:18.000 You know, back in the UK?
00:31:19.000 Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:31:20.000 Where'd he go?
00:31:21.000 Was it Brisbane or something like that?
00:31:22.000 I think it was Brisbane.
00:31:23.000 Okay.
00:31:24.000 But they don't play out there.
00:31:25.000 So it's like you come from another country, you go out there and stuff, like they're on you like that.
00:31:29.000 Especially when it comes to animals and stuff.
00:31:31.000 You start fucking around with the animals in Australia, bro.
00:31:34.000 Sorry, Clav.
00:31:35.000 You can't come, Clav.
00:31:36.000 Cloud can't come.
00:31:37.000 You got serious?
00:31:38.000 Because I was with Tarzan yesterday and we were working in the world.
00:31:40.000 Oh, yeah.
00:31:41.000 Yeah.
00:31:41.000 Yeah.
00:31:41.000 We were putting in that work and I was talking to him and I was like, You've been to Australia?
00:31:45.000 And he's like, Yeah, I've been there like six times.
00:31:47.000 And he's like, Bro, I love it out there.
00:31:48.000 He goes, But, bro, there's snakes out there and the animals.
00:31:52.000 He goes, Bro, like, there were some crocodiles and they were dealing with some stuff with the crocodiles.
00:31:57.000 As soon as they seen him playing around with the crocodiles, they're like, Bro, we're going to come after you.
00:32:01.000 Like, Yeah, on some shit like that.
00:32:03.000 They don't fuck around like that out there.
00:32:04.000 They don't play.
00:32:05.000 They don't play.
00:32:06.000 I hit a kangaroo out there in my car.
00:32:08.000 And bro, I totaled the car and the kangaroo just kept going.
00:32:12.000 That's how strong kangaroos are.
00:32:14.000 What?
00:32:14.000 Really?
00:32:15.000 Kangaroos are crazy, bro.
00:32:15.000 It's crazy.
00:32:17.000 Imagine fighting one, bro, hands to hands.
00:32:19.000 Bro, they do.
00:32:20.000 They got hands.
00:32:21.000 They don't, bro, they don't play.
00:32:23.000 Wait, wait, hold on.
00:32:24.000 Who has more power, Adrian Broner or a kangaroo?
00:32:24.000 They don't play.
00:32:28.000 Come on, bro.
00:32:29.000 Kangaroo all day, every day.
00:32:30.000 Okay, there you go.
00:32:32.000 No, but Adrian Broner, you already know.
00:32:34.000 Legend, legend, legend.
00:32:35.000 Legend, bro.
00:32:36.000 He's a legend.
00:32:37.000 So, how do you ensure the vibe of the gym?
00:32:40.000 Because obviously, box art gym, I go to all the time.
00:32:42.000 The energy there is different.
00:32:44.000 Everyone is there to work out, have fun, network and connections.
00:32:46.000 There's no like ego really or animosity between the other people.
00:32:50.000 How'd you create that vibe for Boxer, Jim?
00:32:52.000 Look, bro, you know, with Boxer, people ask, you know, what's the hardest thing that you think it took to be able to get to where it is today?
00:33:00.000 It's keeping the consistency of the positive energy and the vibe.
00:33:04.000 And how do you create that?
00:33:05.000 It all comes from the top.
00:33:06.000 Everything from the top stems down.
00:33:08.000 It doesn't come from the middle, it doesn't come from down below, it comes all the way from the top.
00:33:12.000 I always come in with a positive attitude from day one.
00:33:16.000 And because I'm always presently there and I'm with my team and my members and always providing a lot of value to them, especially on the customer service side, because as soon as you walk in, you want to be treated a certain way, right?
00:33:28.000 So the moment you step in and the moment you walk out, and in between all that is everything.
00:33:33.000 It's not just about going to a gym and lifting some weights, it's about the communication you have inside the gym, the people that you relate to, the type of music that's playing.
00:33:43.000 Um, the owner, you know, making sure you feel comfortable in the gym and everyone's having a great time.
00:33:47.000 Also, you walk into the gym, you might meet a celebrity just chilling, yeah, boxing, doing the weights.
00:33:52.000 And you know what?
00:33:53.000 No one, no one trying to around with the celebrity or trying to, you know, hey, let's get a foot, yeah, nothing like that.
00:33:58.000 Like, a lot of the high end celebrities and athletes that come there, they feel so comfortable being in there.
00:34:03.000 That's just because the energy and the way the environment is set out, you know, and streamers too, and streamers too.
00:34:08.000 I feel great in there, yeah.
00:34:09.000 Now, like the relationships that have been created, like, it's their home now, you know, in Miami, any streamer or any big name that comes down to Miami.
00:34:16.000 Their inbox just because the energy is good, the lighting is good, you know, it's camera friendly.
00:34:22.000 It's just.
00:34:23.000 The lighting is fire.
00:34:24.000 Fire, right?
00:34:25.000 Wild.
00:34:26.000 Wild, right?
00:34:27.000 It's a movie.
00:34:28.000 Yeah.
00:34:28.000 It's a movie.
00:34:30.000 Every day.
00:34:30.000 Every day.
00:34:31.000 How important is fitness to entrepreneur success?
00:34:35.000 Because recently for me, I obviously, you know, I was in and out of the gym.
00:34:39.000 I would come some days, not come.
00:34:41.000 I was not consistent.
00:34:42.000 I locked in for two months.
00:34:43.000 I lost 30 pounds.
00:34:44.000 I feel amazing.
00:34:45.000 Now you look great, bro.
00:34:46.000 Thank you, bro.
00:34:47.000 How would you say, how important you say fitness is to someone's success in entrepreneurship?
00:34:52.000 Man, it's everything.
00:34:52.000 You know, like without having the right health, you're not able to function on a high level in business.
00:34:58.000 It really just comes to making sure that your health is priority.
00:35:02.000 Taking care of your health is number one before anything, even before making money.
00:35:05.000 Because, look, in the end of the day, your health is your wealth.
00:35:07.000 You don't take care of it on a consistent basis.
00:35:10.000 How are you supposed to make money and grow and elevate?
00:35:12.000 You can't.
00:35:13.000 Yeah.
00:35:13.000 So, and it's not about just the physical side, it's the mental aspect too.
00:35:16.000 Because part of training and going to the gym and taking care of your health is the mental.
00:35:21.000 Like, when I get an opportunity to train in the gym and it's really hard for me, I find that the time to be my, you know, my sacred space to be able to be my peace.
00:35:31.000 And that allows me to, like, just be like, damn.
00:35:33.000 It's resetting me.
00:35:34.000 It's resetting me.
00:35:35.000 And then I'll go back into work and man, I'm feeling amazing straight after.
00:35:38.000 So, you know, there's more to it than just fitness and training.
00:35:43.000 There's the mental side.
00:35:44.000 There's the spiritual side.
00:35:46.000 There's the side of like making sure that that's because to most people, Boxer is their second home.
00:35:50.000 Yeah.
00:35:51.000 You know, it is.
00:35:52.000 I do all my events there.
00:35:53.000 All my CEO Network guys, all the events I do there, amazing.
00:35:56.000 So, they were great.
00:35:57.000 100%.
00:35:58.000 We had what, 50 guys in there doing the body training?
00:36:01.000 Yeah, 60 guys between the two gyms going back and forth.
00:36:04.000 Motion, man.
00:36:05.000 Yeah, man.
00:36:05.000 So, I guess.
00:36:07.000 Just to bring it home as well.
00:36:08.000 Yeah.
00:36:08.000 If you could put into, I guess, one example, what's the biggest fitness myth that guys get wrong in the gym or girls?
00:36:16.000 For example, maybe you should lift like four times in a day.
00:36:20.000 Like, what's the biggest myth that people always say in the gym you should do or you should never do?
00:36:24.000 Man.
00:36:24.000 And I'll put you on the spot there.
00:36:28.000 To be honest, I think when it comes to the fitness myth, I would have to say like, People talk about, you know, going to the gym maybe like three, four times a day, right?
00:36:44.000 You really don't need to go three, four times a day.
00:36:46.000 You really just have to like lock in and have a good program for 30, 45 to an hour max.
00:36:52.000 But then there's people that come to the gym and they're like, they spend all day there.
00:36:55.000 That's just because they're either making their money, then sorry.
00:37:01.000 No, that's my shit, man.
00:37:02.000 No worries.
00:37:05.000 You know, they make their money in the gym because, in the end of the day, the gym that I've set up and created.
00:37:10.000 Isn't a gym for people to go to and just train and leave?
00:37:14.000 It's a place to go and network, work, get your recovery, get your food, get your juices, smoothies.
00:37:21.000 Yo, guys, so networking here, right?
00:37:24.000 My guys at Juice Fountain, they were trying to broker a deal with Box R Gym.
00:37:30.000 And obviously, I'm cool with the owner, Mateo.
00:37:32.000 And those are my guys over there.
00:37:33.000 They make amazing shakes.
00:37:34.000 So after my gym workout, I get a protein shake, 58 grams of protein, I get almond butter, almond milk.
00:37:41.000 And a little bit of cinnamon, right?
00:37:42.000 That's my shake after the gym.
00:37:44.000 But I literally leave box art gym, drive to a different gym just to get the shake.
00:37:49.000 So, you know what?
00:37:49.000 I'm putting my head together.
00:37:51.000 I call Mateo, I call the owner of Juice Fountain, and from there they made a connection.
00:37:56.000 You were prepping me, bro.
00:37:57.000 Yo, I mean, I said, bro, this shit happened today, bro.
00:37:59.000 That's just killing me.
00:38:00.000 This guy interrupted me while I was boxing in the ring.
00:38:02.000 I'm like, bro, yeah, I was going in.
00:38:05.000 I was like, what you mean, nigga?
00:38:07.000 What you mean?
00:38:08.000 No, but you know what?
00:38:09.000 It's guys like networking is very important.
00:38:11.000 And look, you need to have some value, of course, up front.
00:38:14.000 You can't just do this like willy nilly, but the value was there.
00:38:16.000 They make amazing shakes.
00:38:17.000 It's an amazing gym.
00:38:18.000 It just makes sense.
00:38:19.000 So now the actual smoothie spot is in the gym.
00:38:22.000 So I'm going to be even happier because I just work out, gym bar right there.
00:38:25.000 Sorry, smoothie bar right there.
00:38:26.000 Back to work.
00:38:27.000 Juice fountain.
00:38:27.000 It's because it's fresh right here.
00:38:29.000 Yep.
00:38:29.000 I have people.
00:38:30.000 Wow.
00:38:31.000 I have people pitching me all the time, like, can we please put this in?
00:38:35.000 Can we please put that?
00:38:36.000 Bro, 99%, I'm like, no, no, no, no.
00:38:39.000 But because I know how real he is and I know how true he's about it, I'm like, damn, you know what?
00:38:43.000 Let's give these guys an opportunity.
00:38:45.000 I'm telling y'all guys, I made shit happen.
00:38:47.000 Trust me, I made shit happen.
00:38:48.000 He does, he does.
00:38:49.000 So let's say someone wants to open up a brand because you made Boxstar, you made yourself a brand, right?
00:38:54.000 Yeah.
00:38:55.000 And it's huge.
00:38:56.000 Everyone knows about the gym, come to Miami, you're going there.
00:38:58.000 What's the first lesson you can tell the chat right now?
00:39:01.000 To start a brand, what should they focus on?
00:39:03.000 Should it focus on maybe personal, like health and wealth?
00:39:06.000 Should it focus on marketing?
00:39:08.000 What will you focus on first, you would say?
00:39:09.000 At the beginning, bro, like I just, I was just being myself, you know?
00:39:12.000 So with the boxer name, you know, that comes all the way back from Australia, that was my nickname back in school and when I was boxing and fighting.
00:39:19.000 So I just ran with it.
00:39:21.000 But your name was a boxer?
00:39:22.000 No, it was just boxer.
00:39:23.000 Like, oh, just boxer?
00:39:24.000 Bro, my MSN was Matt the Boxer.
00:39:27.000 Like, that's crazy.
00:39:28.000 Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:39:29.000 MSN is crazy.
00:39:29.000 Remember that shit back then?
00:39:31.000 That's crazy.
00:39:31.000 MSN is so old, bro.
00:39:33.000 So, I just ran with that for years.
00:39:34.000 It just came to my head, and I'm like, you know what?
00:39:37.000 I'm going to just run with this.
00:39:38.000 And so, yeah, after I started to realize, like through my look, through the people that I was training, I go, damn, you know what?
00:39:47.000 I got something rare here.
00:39:48.000 I'm going to turn this into a brand rather than just having it a gym because the difference between having a gym and a brand.
00:39:53.000 Yeah.
00:39:54.000 A gym is a gym, you know, that people go to and they relate themselves to go and train.
00:39:58.000 And then a brand is something where people worldwide will go, damn, this guy, they relate it to a person rather than.
00:40:06.000 An entity, or I like this guy, I like this guy, I want to follow him, I want to follow him, and so I worked a lot on that side to be able to push that as far as possible so people could relate to me and they could relate to what I was building.
00:40:18.000 I'm a guy that comes from nothing, and I turned something into something in such a small period of time.
00:40:23.000 I was up against the biggest players in the game, you know.
00:40:27.000 No, guys, there's a reason why I brought Mateo to this podcast, right?
00:40:30.000 Uh, Mateo has blended the gym culture with social media culture perfectly.
00:40:37.000 Because he's pretty much built a layer of foundation of the gym itself and then add on the marketing, which is impeccable.
00:40:43.000 He's bringing A list celebrities, he's bringing streamers, he's bringing creators and YouTubers all to one place for content and to work out.
00:40:51.000 Now, what does that give you?
00:40:53.000 Insane marketing because think about it, right?
00:40:54.000 If I'm a company, I could pay somebody, I don't know, $5 million per billboard for a couple months, right?
00:41:01.000 Goes on a billboard, just sits there.
00:41:02.000 Or I could bring in my own people, create an environment where they can come and film content.
00:41:08.000 Post reels, post the gym.
00:41:10.000 It's infinite marketing for low cost.
00:41:13.000 And I'm just thinking of myself like, moving forward, this is like the new meta.
00:41:17.000 Having a business is great, but it's old school.
00:41:19.000 Having marketing with social media now, you need this.
00:41:22.000 It's everything.
00:41:23.000 And the thing is, you need to give people an experience.
00:41:26.000 It's not just about selling a membership, it's not just about selling a product.
00:41:30.000 It's about giving the person an ultimate experience that they cannot get anywhere else.
00:41:35.000 And then making them feel as though that they're a part of that story.
00:41:38.000 That's the biggest part that a lot of business owners don't realize.
00:41:42.000 Make your people feel like they're a part of your story.
00:41:44.000 Make them feel like they're one of the Avengers inside of it, you know?
00:41:49.000 And when you put it like that, now you're creating a community and you're creating a culture.
00:41:54.000 When you create a community and a culture, man, that can last forever, you know?
00:41:59.000 And if you stay consistent with it, it becomes bigger than something that you even thought of, you know?
00:42:04.000 So it's like you really got to put a lot of thought and energy into the fact that how can I bring people together to believe in what I'm building?
00:42:12.000 And if I could do it, then man, sky's the limit.
00:42:15.000 Just like in Gladiator, you know, he goes out there, the king says, hey, kill him.
00:42:19.000 And then he looks at the crowd and he lets the crowd decide, you know, because he got the people on side.
00:42:24.000 You take care of the people, people take care of you.
00:42:26.000 That's just how it works.
00:42:27.000 That's straight facts.
00:42:28.000 Just a freshman fit, man, telling you.
00:42:29.000 All right.
00:42:29.000 Yeah.
00:42:31.000 What's the most rewarding thing about having access and also having a gym?
00:42:35.000 Because obviously speaking, it's a lot of hard work.
00:42:37.000 You're working like what?
00:42:38.000 14 hour days, 16 hour days?
00:42:40.000 16 hour days.
00:42:41.000 Yeah, easy.
00:42:41.000 Easily?
00:42:42.000 And then back to sleep all over again.
00:42:45.000 What have you gained, I guess?
00:42:46.000 What have you purchased after having a gym?
00:42:48.000 Was it cars, retire your mom?
00:42:50.000 What'd you do after the gym?
00:42:51.000 Man, I've been able to send money back home to my mom.
00:42:55.000 I've been able to take care of her.
00:42:56.000 I've been able to, you know, take care of people in this community.
00:43:00.000 I always try to, like, you know, one of my biggest things is that I preach once you reach a certain level in life, you need to give back.
00:43:08.000 And it's really important to do so just because the tenfold that you get back, whether you believe in God or not, you know, it's important to believe in something just because it does come back to you.
00:43:20.000 Yeah.
00:43:21.000 Good come always comes back.
00:43:22.000 You do the right thing, it tenfolds.
00:43:23.000 It really does.
00:43:24.000 Because for me to be sitting here today, I would never dream and think of that, me being here today.
00:43:30.000 But because of the What I've done for people and the opportunities I've been able to give to coaches, to members, to the city, to the police, to jobs.
00:43:39.000 Bro, everyone.
00:43:40.000 Like, I've given opportunity to a lot of people.
00:43:42.000 The gym has tapped into so many thousands and thousands of people's lives.
00:43:47.000 It's incredible.
00:43:48.000 But then it comes a point where it's like, look, I'm going to take care of the POW kids.
00:43:52.000 I'm going to give back to them.
00:43:54.000 I'm going to make sure that I can help them out and facilitate them and take the kids off the streets.
00:43:59.000 I can send money and give money to people that need it that are less fortunate than me.
00:44:04.000 I believe in that heavily.
00:44:05.000 And so that's been one of the biggest things as part of my bucket list.
00:44:09.000 When I was going to reach something in my life on this level, I would give back.
00:44:13.000 Now, we're in Miami.
00:44:15.000 Competition is very fierce here.
00:44:16.000 It's a lot of haters, of course.
00:44:16.000 Yeah, yeah.
00:44:18.000 You know, the gyms opening up every other quarter.
00:44:21.000 Yeah.
00:44:21.000 I think they're going to open up a Gymshark gym pretty soon.
00:44:23.000 From what I heard.
00:44:23.000 Yeah, yeah.
00:44:25.000 How do you deal with haters?
00:44:26.000 Because obviously they may say, hey, Mateo, face tats.
00:44:29.000 You're not very nice.
00:44:30.000 How do you overcome haters in your business?
00:44:32.000 Man, for me.
00:44:33.000 No, I'm telling you, bro.
00:44:34.000 They can be hated.
00:44:35.000 No, no, they do.
00:44:36.000 On everything.
00:44:37.000 What do that mean, bro?
00:44:39.000 Yeah, I'm telling you.
00:44:39.000 No, no, he be me, mugging.
00:44:41.000 He be like focusing the gym.
00:44:42.000 I'm like, I feel him, bro.
00:44:43.000 He's working.
00:44:44.000 He's working.
00:44:44.000 Nah, bro.
00:44:44.000 He's working, Jack.
00:44:45.000 Bro, I'm fucking locked in.
00:44:47.000 I'm locked in.
00:44:48.000 I'll tell you why.
00:44:49.000 Because the mentality that I have as an ex fighter, it don't matter who's next to me, bro.
00:44:54.000 I'm locked into the fight.
00:44:56.000 I'm locked into the fight and I'm going to win.
00:44:58.000 No matter who's coming in my way.
00:44:59.000 I like that.
00:45:00.000 You know what I mean?
00:45:01.000 And the same thing happened with Tyson.
00:45:03.000 Everyone was scared of Tyson.
00:45:04.000 They hated on him.
00:45:05.000 Why do they hate on him?
00:45:07.000 Because he's the baddest motherfucker on the planet.
00:45:09.000 He's a man.
00:45:10.000 He's a man.
00:45:11.000 So, for me, it's like I said, don't get confused with ego and my confidence.
00:45:18.000 I'm just a confident guy in knowing what I'm good at, and I'm great at this.
00:45:22.000 I'm not great at a lot of other things, but when it comes to this, I'm great at it because I did things that other gyms weren't doing four or five years ago.
00:45:30.000 Now you see gyms popping up and they're hybriding it, and they're putting rings and they're doing certain things and they're adding stuff, which is cool because I feel flattered in that sense because I'm like, yeah, all right, these guys are actually learning and they're putting in and implementing it.
00:45:43.000 There's enough food for everybody to eat in the city.
00:45:45.000 Yeah, so for me, I'm not worried about anyone else.
00:45:49.000 Okay, I'm always three steps ahead.
00:45:51.000 I used to play chess, I'm three moves ahead.
00:45:54.000 Yeah, I gotta see you and Tate play, bro.
00:45:56.000 Okay, I'm not inside a boxer in the ring.
00:45:59.000 Okay, you gotta do it.
00:45:59.000 That'd be fire.
00:46:00.000 Yeah, but with the haters, bro, like they fuel it, but for me, it's like I don't even give that any attention because my people are the main focus.
00:46:09.000 Yeah, the future is my main focus.
00:46:12.000 We're all in different lanes, we're in the same industry, but we're all in different lanes.
00:46:17.000 That's really what it comes down to.
00:46:18.000 Stay in your lane.
00:46:19.000 I like that you said that you just stay in your lane, you focus, you don't let the haters bother you.
00:46:23.000 I mean, we all have haters, right?
00:46:24.000 It's going to happen.
00:46:25.000 But I feel like if you let it define you and never make a change, then it's all on you.
00:46:30.000 So that's a good point.
00:46:31.000 Okay, so what about, like, okay, what's coming next for the gym?
00:46:34.000 Because right now I can see already Miami's evolving.
00:46:37.000 All the billionaires are moving over here.
00:46:39.000 All the LA people, front set companies are moving here.
00:46:42.000 It's kind of like this is the new Mecca or the new LA, you could say.
00:46:44.000 How are you preparing for that right now?
00:46:46.000 Man, right now I've been prepared just because I pay attention to a lot of the movements that's happening in Miami.
00:46:53.000 That's why I, you know, with me being in downtown and with me having a lot of the.
00:46:58.000 The right individuals that I attract, I attract these billionaires.
00:47:01.000 The people you're talking about, they come, and so when I know that they're coming to my gym, I get all the inside scoop of what's happening.
00:47:07.000 Whoa, yo, see that right there?
00:47:09.000 Power play, yo, where's the button?
00:47:10.000 Don DeMarco, come on.
00:47:11.000 See, because he's positioning himself in a way where if people have access that he doesn't have, he's cool with them, he gets to know what's happening before it happens.
00:47:19.000 That's what you call smart intuition.
00:47:21.000 I'm telling y'all, man, that's how you win.
00:47:23.000 That's how you win.
00:47:24.000 So you win.
00:47:25.000 That's how you win.
00:47:25.000 And at the end of the day, like, they look at me and they go, damn, the tats, the look, the boxing.
00:47:31.000 But in the end of the day, bro, like.
00:47:33.000 These guys are not stupid either.
00:47:34.000 They'll sit down with me at the Ritz or they'll sit down with me at the Four Seasons and we'll talk about some future opportunities.
00:47:40.000 And they'll want to know how to involve me in it because they go and they go, Damn, your community is great.
00:47:44.000 The health and wellness industry is blowing up.
00:47:46.000 I'm right in the midst of it.
00:47:47.000 And I've targeted different industries, not just bodybuilding, not just fitness.
00:47:51.000 I target boxing, which is huge.
00:47:54.000 The UFC, which my brother, right here, I have the first Ilya Topouria camp shirt.
00:48:00.000 He doesn't even.
00:48:01.000 Wow.
00:48:01.000 I hope he doesn't see this, but.
00:48:03.000 On stream already.
00:48:03.000 There you go.
00:48:04.000 Right here.
00:48:05.000 Put it here.
00:48:06.000 It's Tapori's Donies camp at the facility.
00:48:09.000 Let's go.
00:48:09.000 Getting ready for the White House fight.
00:48:12.000 First camp shirt.
00:48:13.000 This is for you, bro.
00:48:14.000 Oh, thanks, man.
00:48:15.000 Appreciate it, bro.
00:48:16.000 You already know.
00:48:17.000 W, man.
00:48:17.000 And I'll get a sign for you.
00:48:18.000 Three boxer, man.
00:48:19.000 That's cool.
00:48:20.000 I get a sign for you.
00:48:21.000 Hey, man.
00:48:22.000 I need white, bro.
00:48:24.000 Yeah.
00:48:25.000 What about the White House?
00:48:26.000 He's fighting at the White House.
00:48:26.000 He's the main event.
00:48:27.000 Are you going?
00:48:29.000 Okay, so I'm going then.
00:48:30.000 There you go.
00:48:31.000 That's not how it works, man.
00:48:32.000 That's not how it works.
00:48:33.000 I might need a background check, though.
00:48:34.000 But yeah, no, no.
00:48:35.000 That's dope because I feel like that's going to be a huge event, bro.
00:48:37.000 Hands down.
00:48:37.000 No, it's going to be huge.
00:48:38.000 And that's where it goes back to.
00:48:40.000 Like, I positioned myself in such a good area space, not just like the gym, but the boxing, the MMA, the UFC, CrossFit, High Rocks, the bro, everything.
00:48:50.000 So I've put myself in a very good position where I know a lot of the big guys that come from these industries.
00:48:58.000 And so when it comes to combat sports, you already know who I've worked with in combat sports.
00:49:03.000 The positioning of where you're going to put yourself is everything.
00:49:07.000 It's not just about making as much money as possible.
00:49:09.000 Yes, we all want to make money, but if you position yourself, Correctly, you're going to be able to open up doors that you thought you would never want to.
00:49:17.000 Possible guys, streaming itself also is another uh gateway.
00:49:21.000 This is the beginning of the biggest booms for streaming.
00:49:24.000 Uh, we were at the front of it, question fit, yeah, Aiden Ross, Kai, Speed.
00:49:29.000 And the funny part is that like people think it's just like, oh, one and done, it was over.
00:49:33.000 No, this is just the beginning.
00:49:34.000 No, this is and this this podcast itself is a testament to that.
00:49:37.000 We got bills here, got my new guest here.
00:49:39.000 This is gonna be one of the best shows in Miami, hands down.
00:49:41.000 They don't know what's happening, but it's coming very soon.
00:49:45.000 Um, okay, so Mateo.
00:49:47.000 Break this down for me as well.
00:49:48.000 If I am actually a regular person trying to go to a gym, how do I get the best deals?
00:49:54.000 Because, bro, I'm telling you, gyms are expensive, right?
00:49:56.000 Some of them are.
00:49:57.000 Equinox, I want to price it out right now.
00:50:00.000 Other gyms, how do you get the best price at the gym?
00:50:02.000 What's like a cheat code for the chat?
00:50:03.000 Look, man, the best way to get the best price to the gym, you got to negotiate.
00:50:08.000 You got to negotiate.
00:50:10.000 Everything just comes back to negotiation, you know?
00:50:13.000 And then at the same time, it's like you also pay for what you get.
00:50:16.000 So, if you go to a gym and they just automatically at the front desk, and this is for you guys that doesn't matter where you're at in the world or in the country, make sure that it's not about the price at the beginning because most people at the front desk are going to be like, yeah, this is our membership.
00:50:31.000 Which one do you like?
00:50:32.000 Right?
00:50:33.000 Straight up.
00:50:33.000 Straight up.
00:50:34.000 Oh, we offer this, we offer that.
00:50:36.000 You got to let them take you through and give you an experience and show you the value of what you're paying.
00:50:41.000 So then you understand exactly what you're paying and what you're getting.
00:50:45.000 Okay.
00:50:45.000 Rather than going, all right, I'm going to pay for a membership and this is what it is.
00:50:48.000 Because, look, we've got a Planet Fitness.
00:50:50.000 Are you going to get value at Planet Fitness by paying $39?
00:50:55.000 Are you going to meet the right people for you to grow and network?
00:50:57.000 Probably not.
00:50:58.000 Okay.
00:50:59.000 Please tell them, for example, why you should pay for a more expensive gym versus a cheap gym.
00:51:04.000 Because what's the value proposition there?
00:51:06.000 Well, look, you got a Planet Fitness or you got a Lifetime.
00:51:09.000 Lifetime is going to charge you an arm and a leg.
00:51:12.000 But at Lifetime, are you going to be motivated?
00:51:15.000 Yeah.
00:51:15.000 Are you going to get that same motivation to be around the right people?
00:51:18.000 No, because you've been a lifetime.
00:51:20.000 Bro, it's cool, but it's cool.
00:51:22.000 It's nice.
00:51:23.000 It gives you a nice feeling because it's like very luxury.
00:51:26.000 Feel like you're in a nice resort, hotel, leisure center.
00:51:29.000 All right, yo, chat.
00:51:30.000 When I go to his gym, you know why I'm motivated?
00:51:34.000 There's some big booty hoes doing some squats.
00:51:36.000 I'm like, God damn, nigga, I got to get it.
00:51:38.000 No, no, but keep it real, guys.
00:51:40.000 Honestly, man, the gym has a lot of people that are buff, creators as well.
00:51:45.000 Motivates me, and obviously, you know, girls are big, big bundles, but the point is that I'm motivated to work out.
00:51:50.000 If I go to the gym downstairs, bro, I'm bored, I don't want to work out.
00:51:53.000 I'm like, damn, like, why am I here?
00:51:55.000 Your gym, I don't work out for sure.
00:51:56.000 I'm saying so, and then you got your guys that are self motivated too.
00:52:00.000 Like, I like to train on the field outside by myself, like, just because that's just how I'm programmed.
00:52:05.000 So, if you can self motivate yourself and do it at home and set yourself up a gym, then why not?
00:52:10.000 You do it, but then if you want to be in an environment space that's going to level you up and it's going to take you beyond that and open up some.
00:52:17.000 Different ideas and opportunities to be like, yo, maybe I'll incorporate boxing or maybe I'll do this.
00:52:21.000 Yeah, I like these people.
00:52:22.000 Oh, wow.
00:52:23.000 You know what I mean?
00:52:23.000 Like, yeah.
00:52:25.000 Then it's worth doing.
00:52:27.000 So for me, it's kind of like I saw where you were allowing people access because the biggest thing with gyms here in Miami, guys, is that sometimes you're very corporate and very like stuck up.
00:52:35.000 So you're like, oh, you can't do this, you can't do that.
00:52:37.000 Obviously, there's a rules to a gym, of course, you got to follow rules.
00:52:39.000 But it's kind of like you've allowed people to post in your gym whenever, wherever.
00:52:44.000 I'll give you an example, right?
00:52:45.000 One of your big members now.
00:52:48.000 Saw my story post one day.
00:52:49.000 I was in a gym working out with some friends.
00:52:51.000 Post a story.
00:52:51.000 Yo, where is that?
00:52:53.000 Oh, it's an Edgewater?
00:52:54.000 Cool.
00:52:54.000 I'm going to hit it up.
00:52:56.000 He came.
00:52:57.000 You know, I don't think you noticed, but when he came, everyone else came.
00:53:01.000 Now, I never said anything because I was like, okay, cool.
00:53:03.000 But like, you're my boy.
00:53:03.000 Yeah, yeah.
00:53:04.000 So one story post from me led to one, two, three, four.
00:53:08.000 But imagine he was like, oh, no recording in the gym.
00:53:11.000 Oh, you can't.
00:53:12.000 They'll be like, yo, I'm out of here.
00:53:13.000 And the funny part is, let's say I bring a celebrity guest.
00:53:17.000 You welcome them with open arms.
00:53:18.000 Oh, yeah.
00:53:19.000 The gym was amazing.
00:53:20.000 It was great quality.
00:53:21.000 I'll come back.
00:53:22.000 And then they come back again, again, again.
00:53:23.000 Yeah, we offer the services.
00:53:25.000 We go, bro, come in, have a workout.
00:53:26.000 Yo, you want to get a training session with one of the coaches?
00:53:29.000 Here's a t shirt.
00:53:30.000 You know, you want to shake, take a shake.
00:53:31.000 We make them feel at home because, at the end of the day, it's an experience for them.
00:53:34.000 And then, by you know, after that, they're going to come back for sure.
00:53:38.000 So it's like, take care of people at the beginning.
00:53:40.000 Yeah.
00:53:41.000 And then they'll take care of you.
00:53:42.000 Can you tell them some of the names that were in your gym as well?
00:53:44.000 Because that's a very good way you said it.
00:53:45.000 It was just funny.
00:53:46.000 I just bumped into one of Tori Lane's guys outside.
00:53:49.000 Tori.
00:53:50.000 Shout out to him, man.
00:53:51.000 Free Tori, bro.
00:53:52.000 Free Tori, man.
00:53:53.000 Free Tori was one of my members at the gym.
00:53:56.000 His brother still comes to the gym.
00:53:58.000 Yeah, yeah.
00:53:58.000 Wait, I don't know what's his name, but yeah.
00:54:00.000 Yeah.
00:54:00.000 Tattoos, yeah.
00:54:02.000 Bro, he's been a solid loyal member from the very beginning.
00:54:04.000 Yeah.
00:54:06.000 And, bro, like Tory Lanez, you got David Benavides, who just won.
00:54:11.000 Big shout out to my brother, Jay.
00:54:12.000 Shelton Him, man.
00:54:13.000 I met him for the first time at your gym, actually.
00:54:14.000 We did a car rally.
00:54:15.000 I didn't even know he was the Mexican monster.
00:54:17.000 Beast.
00:54:18.000 Beast.
00:54:18.000 That boy's strong.
00:54:20.000 Bro, Mayweather.
00:54:21.000 Mayweather, another good friend of mine.
00:54:25.000 Ryan Garcia, all the streamers.
00:54:27.000 Dean, Dean, Adrian, bro.
00:54:28.000 They all come through.
00:54:29.000 So the list just keeps going.
00:54:31.000 It's their home.
00:54:31.000 So whenever anyone comes in from California or any parts of the world, they come straight to boxers.
00:54:36.000 Become like a Disneyland right here in Miami.
00:54:39.000 Hey, guys, when you see this, this man in the gym, CEO Fresh sent me.
00:54:41.000 Give me that discount.
00:54:44.000 I'm kidding.
00:54:45.000 I love it.
00:54:46.000 I love it.
00:54:46.000 But the point is, the culture is there.
00:54:48.000 You made a culture.
00:54:50.000 So I guess more of a transition now.
00:54:52.000 What would you say was your biggest setback making this gym?
00:54:55.000 Was it like people say you can't do it?
00:54:58.000 Was it maybe your funds were low?
00:55:00.000 What was your biggest setback?
00:55:00.000 Say, you know what?
00:55:01.000 Damn, I just want to quit right now.
00:55:02.000 I don't know what to do.
00:55:04.000 Biggest setback.
00:55:05.000 I think, you know what, bro?
00:55:07.000 I didn't think there was a setback.
00:55:09.000 No?
00:55:10.000 I don't regret nothing.
00:55:11.000 Really?
00:55:12.000 Nah.
00:55:13.000 I don't regret nothing because I wouldn't be the person I am today.
00:55:16.000 And I wouldn't have boxed where it is today if it wasn't for all the shit that I went through.
00:55:21.000 And I still cop it today.
00:55:22.000 But you know what?
00:55:23.000 That's part of being great.
00:55:24.000 That's part of being a world champ.
00:55:26.000 You know, like you got to take the hits, you got to be able to learn to keep coming back every single time.
00:55:31.000 Otherwise, what's the point?
00:55:32.000 Every single world champion or every great fighter in the world, and I always relate it back to boxing and to fighting because that's what we do in business.
00:55:40.000 You know, and it's all about learning that and making sure that once you get hit, you got to come back even stronger.
00:55:46.000 As soon as you get hit and you put your head down, it's over.
00:55:50.000 I'm still here, right?
00:55:51.000 No, you're still here for sure.
00:55:52.000 Okay, so we keep going.
00:55:54.000 Have you seen Aiden Ross's Brand Wrist fight?
00:55:56.000 Yes, yes.
00:55:57.000 Okay.
00:55:58.000 Be honest, bro.
00:55:59.000 You won't, okay.
00:56:00.000 The fight with Michael Beasley and Lance.
00:56:07.000 Did you see that fight?
00:56:07.000 I didn't see it, but I saw highlights.
00:56:10.000 Okay, what about Ray J?
00:56:12.000 I want the Ray J highlight.
00:56:13.000 Okay, they're questioning if it was rigged or not, right?
00:56:18.000 Now, I saw a fight, I was there live.
00:56:20.000 And uh, I get I may be wrong, but I guarantee Aiden Ross and that had nothing to do with that fight being ever in question, it would have to be between super hot fire and um fight and then obviously Ray J.
00:56:33.000 But my thought was at the very beginning of that fight, Ray J was like going hard, he just stood there, super hot fire.
00:56:41.000 Second fight is in reverse, super fire is punching, he gives it a one two and knocks kind of knocks him to the ground.
00:56:48.000 But like, how would you know when the fight is rigged or not?
00:56:51.000 The thing is, it's like.
00:56:54.000 I've been in the sport of boxing for quite some time.
00:56:56.000 This is for entertainment purposes.
00:56:58.000 You know, in the end of the day, like these guys have never jumped in the ring and fought before.
00:57:01.000 So, but Aiden's doing a great job on like putting on these promotions and giving everybody the entertainment that they want to see because they want to see all these guys that have got names to go at each other, never fought each other.
00:57:12.000 So the thing is, you can't really compare real boxing to that type of boxing.
00:57:18.000 Yeah.
00:57:19.000 Because real boxing is like, you understand, they've been in the game for a while.
00:57:23.000 You could tell if it's rigged or not in boxing, boxing.
00:57:27.000 In this type of sport, you can, but you can't.
00:57:30.000 You can't tell.
00:57:31.000 It's hard.
00:57:31.000 I don't think Aiden would do that on the.
00:57:33.000 No, he wouldn't.
00:57:33.000 He wouldn't.
00:57:34.000 No, no.
00:57:34.000 That makes no sense.
00:57:35.000 I don't think so.
00:57:36.000 There's no benefit for him to gain from it because, at the end of the day, he wants to keep doing this.
00:57:41.000 You know what I mean?
00:57:42.000 And it's working for him.
00:57:43.000 And this is the evolution to what's happening right now in combat sports.
00:57:46.000 But here's where I'm upset because Ray just said that on camera that the fight was rigged, basically, right?
00:57:52.000 But it puts him in jeopardy because if it's rigged, that's legal.
00:57:56.000 But come to find out.
00:57:57.000 Didn't Blueface say something like that?
00:57:58.000 100%.
00:57:59.000 Yeah.
00:57:59.000 But that's not what Aiden does.
00:58:01.000 But the funny part is that, like, Ray J probably knew it was Ray because he said, I lost a bunch of money because I got knocked out.
00:58:08.000 Yeah, and also because maybe he doesn't want to look like the bum that, like, got, you know, you're going to come up with some sort of excuse when you get fucked up, especially in front of people.
00:58:17.000 Because, at the end of the day, like, you're jumping in the ring, right?
00:58:20.000 Then you got the world watching you.
00:58:22.000 You're not just getting people inside of an auditorium watching, the whole world is watching you, and you get your ass beat.
00:58:28.000 And you're an artist, you're a music artist.
00:58:31.000 It's a blow to the world.
00:58:32.000 So, you could imagine the sensitivity as a music artist getting beat.
00:58:37.000 It's a heavy blow.
00:58:38.000 Look, man, hopping in the ring is a brave endeavor.
00:58:42.000 I promise you, it's not easy, but I'm not going to hold you.
00:58:45.000 That fight with Spotify and Ray J, I was like, bro, this shit does not look good, bro.
00:58:49.000 It doesn't look good at all.
00:58:51.000 But yeah, it was cool, though.
00:58:53.000 Okay, question for you.
00:58:54.000 And also, you're more into boxing than I am.
00:58:57.000 Who do you want to see fight next?
00:58:59.000 And what's your plan for UFC White House?
00:59:02.000 To be honest, bro, boxing isn't the way it used to be.
00:59:07.000 Boxing back then, like five, 10 years ago, 15 years ago, was completely different.
00:59:12.000 This is where guys would go in and you see the big fights.
00:59:14.000 Right now, You know, I'd like to see, you know, Ryan with someone like Tio.
00:59:22.000 Okay.
00:59:22.000 Tio's a good friend of mine.
00:59:23.000 Ryan's a good friend of mine.
00:59:24.000 You got Devin as well, Devin Haney.
00:59:26.000 Are we getting that rematch between Devin and Ryan, you think?
00:59:29.000 I don't know, man.
00:59:29.000 I don't know.
00:59:31.000 I think it should happen.
00:59:32.000 Yeah.
00:59:32.000 I think it should.
00:59:35.000 But you never know in boxing, you know, because the thing is, there's not so much competition as what it used to be back in the day.
00:59:40.000 Yeah.
00:59:41.000 Right now, we're always looking at the names that are happening right now.
00:59:44.000 So you got Ryan, you got Tio, you got Shakur, you got all these other guys on the table.
00:59:49.000 Obviously, everybody wants to see all these guys fight each other, but boxing is not the same as what it used to be.
00:59:54.000 Give me your top three boxers of all time.
00:59:56.000 Top three.
00:59:57.000 I would have to say Roy Jones Jr., Mike Tyson, and Sugar Ray Leonard.
01:00:01.000 Okay.
01:00:02.000 Wait, Floyd isn't in there?
01:00:04.000 I threw Floyd in there.
01:00:04.000 No, no, no, no.
01:00:05.000 Floyd is.
01:00:06.000 Bro, I got a bunch, but those are the three that came to my mind.
01:00:09.000 Okay, so this is kind of left field a little bit, right?
01:00:12.000 This has been going on for quite some time, but this recently came out in the news.
01:00:15.000 They said that Floyd is going broke.
01:00:18.000 Maybe from.
01:00:20.000 Issues with finances, maybe from like you know, lawyers and you know, cop managers messing him up, but that's the sentiment out there right now, right?
01:00:27.000 I don't think he's going broke because he has enough money to survive, probably.
01:00:30.000 But in your opinion, how important is it to save money when you box?
01:00:34.000 Because obviously, fights come in, fights come out, you lose, you win some, bro.
01:00:39.000 I've seen the fighters in this sport and they've taken big hits and dives, they make a lot of money, but they're not good with their money at all, like they mismanage it, they blow it on a lot of stuff, just like artists, same thing in the industry, right?
01:00:50.000 So, they they Tyson, he made a lot of money, lost a lot of money.
01:00:54.000 It comes part of the game, but it's very important for athletes to be able to manage their money correctly.
01:00:59.000 One of the guys that I know, and David Benavides, one of my close boys in boxing, he's actually pretty good with his money.
01:01:06.000 He doesn't look like he is, but he is.
01:01:08.000 He puts his money into the right places.
01:01:10.000 He invests into houses, he invests into different properties around the country.
01:01:14.000 You know, he's smart, and I'm very proud of him for what he's accomplished up to today.
01:01:18.000 But yeah, the problem is in sports, especially in boxing, is.
01:01:21.000 As much as they get it, as much as they lose it.
01:01:24.000 And because Adrian Broner lost $60 million or $30 million, something like that.
01:01:36.000 Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:01:46.000 I mean, how do you blow that much, bro?
01:01:52.000 Bro, bro So it's like, yeah, these guys need help with their money, man.
01:01:55.000 Like, they get paid, but then they lose it.
01:01:58.000 You know, Ryan makes money.
01:02:00.000 He's lost money, but he makes money.
01:02:01.000 And, you know, people think by just making the money from the purse is what they make.
01:02:06.000 No, there's money to be made on the sponsorships, the brand deals.
01:02:09.000 That's where the real money is.
01:02:11.000 That's how the fighters make their real money.
01:02:13.000 Guys, by the way, new sponsor on the show, man.
01:02:15.000 Locking in June 1st.
01:02:17.000 We're set and loaded.
01:02:19.000 W sponsors.
01:02:19.000 You're right.
01:02:20.000 Yeah, 100%.
01:02:22.000 Okay.
01:02:23.000 So, Mateo, this was a great interview, bro.
01:02:24.000 Thank you.
01:02:25.000 I appreciate you.
01:02:25.000 Some gems for the chat, for the audience.
01:02:27.000 Always.
01:02:28.000 How can they find you and what's up next?
01:02:30.000 Yeah, man.
01:02:30.000 You can find me at Mateo Boxer, Boxer Gym in Miami.
01:02:36.000 You can come down 1310 Northeast First Avenue anytime.
01:02:40.000 Come and get a workout.
01:02:41.000 Come and get the experience.
01:02:42.000 And for Boxer, we're scaling.
01:02:44.000 We're getting bigger.
01:02:46.000 We're just working on some different things right now within the gym.
01:02:49.000 Sometimes, if you are getting into the gym business, don't try to rush the process too fast when it comes to opening too many gyms because you're going to water yourself down.
01:02:58.000 Focus on branding, focus on the marketing aspect, focus on the legitimacy of your business so it's authentic, and add things that are going to generate more revenue streams within the business.
01:03:09.000 For example, I put shows on.
01:03:11.000 I put the fights on.
01:03:12.000 That's one revenue stream.
01:03:13.000 That's true.
01:03:13.000 Then you got the health, the recovery.
01:03:15.000 That's another one.
01:03:16.000 Then you got merch, which is another crazy one, which, you know, like it just can keep.
01:03:21.000 Yeah, you have a room just for like recovery.
01:03:23.000 Yeah.
01:03:24.000 What is that?
01:03:24.000 The ice chamber?
01:03:25.000 Bro, we got the ice chamber.
01:03:28.000 It's like Dragon Ball Z. You're going to the hyperbolic time chamber.
01:03:31.000 It's crazy.
01:03:32.000 Bro, it's legit.
01:03:33.000 It's legit.
01:03:34.000 Then you got the red light therapy beds.
01:03:35.000 Then you got the hyperbaric chambers.
01:03:37.000 You know, all those ones right there is going to help you with, you know, your health and making sure that you stay young.
01:03:43.000 Look, end of the day, we can look good, but you got to take care of your inside.
01:03:47.000 So, look, man, I appreciate you for having me on here.
01:03:51.000 But also, real quick before we wrap this up, you were given the key of the city in Miami.
01:03:57.000 Yo, guys, there's not many people that ever say they've been given the key of Miami.
01:04:01.000 And to have that with Trump as the second person that got it is insane, by the way.
01:04:06.000 Tell them about that, bro.
01:04:07.000 We got photos as well of him with the key to the city.
01:04:10.000 Yeah, man.
01:04:10.000 Like, when I got the key to the city, you know, I had my.
01:04:15.000 There's a lot of people that were involved in that to make sure that, you know, I got the support that was needed to get that.
01:04:20.000 That was a goal that I wanted for a very, very long time.
01:04:24.000 You know, getting the honor of the key to the city from the mayor for the accomplishment of having, like, you know, a business like mine.
01:04:32.000 No gym in the city has ever got the key to the city.
01:04:34.000 None.
01:04:35.000 I think there's only one gym in the whole country that got the key to the city.
01:04:38.000 And then two weeks later, you had, you know, you had Trump, the president, he got the key to the city.
01:04:43.000 And then you had, what's his name?
01:04:45.000 Messi.
01:04:46.000 Messi.
01:04:46.000 He got the key to the city.
01:04:47.000 So only really important people actually got it.
01:04:50.000 This has just been, you know, something I've been working hard for.
01:04:52.000 It's like when you're getting a championship belt, I ended up getting it.
01:04:56.000 So it's like, that's one of my bucket lists, and we just keep going, you know?
01:04:59.000 So it's an absolute honor.
01:05:00.000 I had a lot of people support that from the community and the people to vouch for me that I should get the key to the city.
01:05:05.000 Proud of you, bro.
01:05:06.000 Especially my lady, man.
01:05:07.000 My lady, she was, she's a cop, city of Miami.
01:05:10.000 So she was the one that, like, put me on.
01:05:12.000 I'm telling you, man.
01:05:13.000 Yeah.
01:05:14.000 The cops here in Miami, they're definitely.
01:05:18.000 Funny people, they're cool as well.
01:05:19.000 And if you work with them in the right way, they can benefit you a lot.
01:05:21.000 So, yeah, you, you, bro, you need to create yourself and a strong, powerful network system from all avenues, right?
01:05:28.000 So, look, as much as you know, there's certain people that you may not want to get along with, you're gonna have to try and figure out how to get along with them.
01:05:35.000 But it's important for what you're creating for yourself and what you're building because at any given time, those people are gonna come in hand and one hand washes the other.
01:05:44.000 You never know, that's how the business works.
01:05:46.000 One hand washes the other, and you know, okay, Mateo, where can I find you, bro?
01:05:50.000 Man, find me.

01:06:08.000 You never know.
