00:00:00.000 Hello, everybody. Welcome back to the Gains for Girls podcast. Still on this election high. I
00:00:13.140 don't think it will end until 2025 Inauguration Day when it is sealed, done, and we know that
00:00:20.700 is what our nation's future holds. Very excited for today's guest. His name has been all over
00:00:27.460 the news, all over social media, with this buzzing surrounding it. We are talking today
00:00:34.340 to Senator Rick Scott. He's been in the news recently for his hopeful role as the new Senate
00:00:40.800 majority leader. They are to vote actually today, this week. So I'm hopeful. I think people
00:00:47.940 were tired. We're tired of leadership, weak leadership from those in the Senate like Mitch
00:00:53.220 McConnell. And so I wholeheartedly support Rick Scott for Senate majority leader. Very
00:00:59.200 excited for our conversation today. But before we get into it, got to tell you about XXXY
00:01:04.720 athletics. If you watch these episodes, if you follow me on social media, you know why
00:01:11.580 I love them. One, their clothing and their apparel is cute. It's quality clothing. But more
00:01:18.020 importantly, their clothing sends a message that I want to speak and wear very proudly. And that is
00:01:25.000 that biological reality exists. It is that your God-given sex is immutable. So I encourage everyone
00:01:33.880 to go to thetruthfits.com. Check out their apparel. They've got men's. They've got women's. Great. Right
00:01:41.100 around holiday time, too. These make great gifts. I've got a code for you to use. If you use code
00:01:46.740 RileyG20, you can get some percentage off at checkout. So again, RileyG20 at thetruthfits.com.
00:01:55.060 Check them out. And now we are going to get into our conversation with the hopeful new Senate
00:01:59.980 majority leader, now Senator Rick Scott. Well, Senator Scott, thank you so much for joining the
00:02:06.560 Gains for Girls podcast. Before we get into anything, this week was we had Veterans Day. And
00:02:12.400 so I wanted to thank you for your service. We are people like me. We are indebted to people like you
00:02:18.720 who fought for our freedoms. So thank you, number one. But I've got to ask you, we're coming off a big
00:02:26.660 election, both presidential and the Senate, the House. It was a blowout on all accounts. And so I've
00:02:32.560 got to ask you, how are you feeling? It's exciting. Election night was exciting. We know that Trump
00:02:39.080 hasn't had, you know, his agenda, he got a man, he clearly got a mandate, right? He, so it was,
00:02:45.760 it was exciting. It was an exciting night. So we won in my, in my state, we won Miami-Dade by 10 points.
00:02:52.100 We won Osceola County, which is primarily Puerto Rican, by two points. We won the county that Tampa's in,
00:02:58.780 the county that St. Pete's in, the county that Jacksonville's in. We won 61 to 67 counties. It was a
00:03:05.140 blowout. You know why we won? Because people want a different agenda than Democrats. I tell people,
00:03:11.760 my, what my, you know, why I'm doing this is I want every kid to have the same opportunity to live
00:03:17.440 the dream that I had. Born to a single mom, lived in public housing growing up, and my mom could
00:03:21.540 legitimately tell me there was no limitation if I worked my butt off. And so I've tried a lot of things in my
00:03:28.160 life. I've built companies, ran for governor, now ran for the Senate. So everything's doable. If
00:03:33.280 that's true for every little boy and girl in this country, what a hell of a country it is.
00:03:38.140 Yeah, it's interesting to see Florida's progression over the past 10, 12 years or so,
00:03:43.300 which I live in Tennessee, a very red state. But what I've noticed in my home state is we have an
00:03:48.640 influx of people who have moved in from places like California or New York or Michigan or Illinois.
00:03:55.000 And I know Florida is the same. And so I don't know if you've had the opportunity to talk with some of
00:04:00.300 these people who have moved to Florida. But I mean, again, my experience is it almost appears as if
00:04:06.880 they're refugees, right? And they acknowledge themselves as such. Yeah, I think it's positive
00:04:12.180 selection. People are coming to Tennessee because of their freedom, their rights, and because it's a
00:04:17.460 Republican state. They're coming to Florida because it's, you know, because of our freedom. We don't have,
00:04:22.080 we don't have big government mandates. You know, we understand your individual rights.
00:04:28.100 We believe in your individual rights. And so I think that's why people are moving to places like
00:04:31.920 Tennessee and to Florida. So it's exciting. Think about this. When I got elected in 2010 as governor,
00:04:38.120 there are 568,000 more registered Democrats. This election, there are over a million more registered
00:04:45.440 Republicans. So people have come in and they said the Republican way of life is better for their
00:04:51.040 families. It's better for their kids. It's better for their grandkids. Because I think here's what
00:04:55.980 people care about. They care about their job. They care about their kids' education. And they care
00:05:00.920 about public safety. Guess what? Tennessee is a great state for that. I actually lived in Tennessee a
00:05:05.820 lot. I lived in Nashville for a while. It's a great, great city. And Florida is like that. We're
00:05:11.040 number one in higher education, top five in K-12 education. When I left, we were a 47-year low on our
00:05:16.160 crime rate. So it's the things that people care about. And that's why they're moving to Tennessee.
00:05:19.860 They're moving to Florida and places like that. No doubt. No doubt. I think another key issue,
00:05:26.400 I believe it was a key issue in the elections, again, on all fronts, presidential, House seats,
00:05:32.720 and in the Senate, especially in the Senate, actually, was the common sense issue of keeping
00:05:37.360 men out of women's sports, which you have been key on. You've been key on the Protection of Women
00:05:42.340 and Girls in Sports Act. You signed on to the letter headed by Senator Blackburn to the NCAA,
00:05:47.540 urging them to update their policies. You voted in favor, of course, of the Protection of Women
00:05:52.660 and Girls in Olympic and Amateur Sports Act, but really all to no prevail, as the Senate voted
00:06:00.280 entirely on party lines, which I don't believe it would have mattered much anyways, considering
00:06:05.080 I think we both know the actions that President Biden would have taken if a common sense bill like
00:06:10.760 this reached his desk. But do you think now, with a majority in both the House and the Senate,
00:06:16.660 that this is something that can get to President Trump's desk come 2025?
00:06:21.820 Well, if the Democrats don't support it, they're pretty foolish. It's pretty common sense that we
00:06:27.100 shouldn't have men playing in women's sports. I mean, I raised two daughters. I have six grandsons and
00:06:33.380 a granddaughter, right? And look, think about how much time people put in, like my friend Donna DeVarona
00:06:42.460 put in to make sure there was women's sports in college, right? I mean, it was decades to get that
00:06:48.900 done. And now, all of a sudden, the Democrats say, oh, yeah, we'll still have that, but we'll let
00:06:54.520 boys win all the medals. So I think it's common sense. I hope the Democrats have figured this out.
00:07:00.380 It was a horrible issue for the Democrats. There's so many people, I think, voted over that one issue
00:07:06.260 that hopefully the Democrats will understand it. And we've got, it takes 60 votes to pass legislation
00:07:12.540 over here, but we're going to have 53 Republicans now, so it'll take seven Democrats to say, you know
00:07:18.440 what, this is pretty much common sense. Why don't we, we should pass this. Why is it so partisan? I mean,
00:07:23.820 again, I think for your everyday American, we see the harm, we see the trajectory of where this is
00:07:30.720 leading us. We see how this is unsafe. We see it's unfair, not to mention the privacy aspect in the
00:07:36.040 locker room. And, and similar, I agree with you in saying that I think there's got a lot of people
00:07:42.800 who would call themselves lifelong liberals to vote for the Republican nominees. So why? I mean,
00:07:48.800 is it fear? Do you think, do you think they actually believe this? Uh, I just can't wrap my
00:07:53.920 mind around it. I, I don't, right. They can't, they, they can't explain a lot of their policies.
00:07:59.640 They can't explain, you know, most of the stuff we do up here should not be partisan, you know,
00:08:03.900 having a secure border. Yeah. That's pretty good for Democrats too. Not just Republicans,
00:08:07.640 you know, have, you know, making sure women's sports are women's sports. That shouldn't be very
00:08:12.600 partisan, but it's somehow they've made it that way. It's like the radicals in the Democrat
00:08:17.180 party run the party now, but hopefully they saw they got trounced, uh, in this election.
00:08:23.260 So hopefully there's going to be common sense for Democrats that come and say, you know what,
00:08:27.380 that makes sense. We ought to pass that bill. Uh, I'm going to do everything I can, uh, to make
00:08:31.720 that happen. What, what, what my goal is, one of my goals of being a leader is let's figure out how
00:08:38.120 to do common sense things. When I was governor, what I did is I did common sense things that, you know,
00:08:43.900 they're not repealing them because they, they made all the sense of the world, even though I've been
00:08:47.920 gone for six years. And so that's what we should be doing up here. What are some common sense things
00:08:52.020 we can get done? Like we shouldn't, we shouldn't be sending federal dollars, uh, to, to schools that
00:08:58.180 don't protect women's sports. I mean, why did we pass the legislation to make sure we had women's
00:09:04.020 sports if we're not going to make them women's sports? You know what I would love to see is
00:09:07.900 legislation that codifies and defines words like woman in law words. Like, I mean, we've seen how
00:09:14.840 words you mentioned title nine, even how these words like sex and gender identity have become
00:09:19.960 conflated. And, and we have these unelected bureaucrats and officials who's who use these
00:09:24.760 words interchangeably words. We've never had to define because we never knew we, we needed to,
00:09:29.520 or that we would ever need to, but here we are. Uh, we've seen talks of it in the house. I believe it
00:09:34.360 was representative, uh, Lesko and Diana Harshbarger. Um, but I think this is something that could be
00:09:40.840 incredibly effective. I think nine States have done this now, and I think it would be huge if it
00:09:45.640 could be done, uh, federally. We've seen lots of buzz around your name on social media, um, and the
00:09:56.620 mainstream news recently, uh, for acquiring the Senate majority leader, uh, position, which I mean,
00:10:03.900 uh, I believe you are suited to do, you are fit to do, you are someone who, uh, has led, uh, incredibly
00:10:09.660 effectively and successfully. Um, and so I want you to be able to make the case, you know, why do you
00:10:16.720 think this is something that, uh, as a role that you could fill? Well, the election is tomorrow. Um,
00:10:22.800 they've rushed the election to one week after a little, you know, one week, one day after the general
00:10:27.540 election, uh, which is a mistake. We should take more time to do this, but the election is tomorrow.
00:10:32.880 Here's what I tell people we've got Trump. One, he got a mandate. We've got to elect a leader in the
00:10:38.940 Senate. That's going to help him get his mandate done. So one, I a hundred percent support what
00:10:44.180 Donald Trump is doing. That's number one. Number two, I'm a business guy. We get our stuff done
00:10:49.220 because we, we create processes and we bring people along to get it done. We build teams.
00:10:55.760 We have a plan. We have timelines, responsibility. We recalibrate if something's not working and we get it
00:11:02.560 done. And so that's what I'll do is as a majority leader, whether it's getting Trump's nominees done,
00:11:08.240 which we we've got to get done. Chuck Schumer is going to try to slow that down or the legislation
00:11:12.500 he needs to make sure we repair the damage that Democrats have, have done in this country.
00:11:17.560 I will do everything I can to get those things done as majority leader. So that's why I'm running.
00:11:22.320 Uh, I believe in this country. I believe in our constitution. I live the dream. I want every
00:11:26.780 child to have the chance to live the dream. Uh, I think it was the heritage heritage action score
00:11:31.360 card. Uh, you scored a 92%, uh, while the other two who are in the mix scored in the thirties. And so
00:11:38.480 it seems like the people have spoken. Uh, we want a Senate majority leader like you. Um, and so what,
00:11:46.460 I mean, what are some of the kind of the behind the scenes dynamic that go into this vote? I imagine
00:11:52.220 there's, there's lots of pressure, uh, internally amongst members of the Senate, uh, maybe swaying
00:11:59.460 their vote vote. Well, uh, you know, very few senators have come out and said who they're going
00:12:04.500 to support. Marco Rubio supported me and Tommy Tupperville and Bill Haggerty and Rand Paul and
00:12:09.440 Ron Johnson. I think there's others that said they're going to support me. We'll see. It's a secret
00:12:13.620 ballot. So you never know until, uh, until it happens, right? It shouldn't be secret. We should all
00:12:18.500 know. I, everybody knows how I vote on a judge, how I vote on a bill. They ought to know how
00:12:23.120 everybody votes on, uh, the majority leader, but, uh, it's probably going to be a secret
00:12:26.940 ballot again tomorrow, uh, when we vote on this. Uh, so we're going to have a meeting
00:12:31.140 tonight. I'm going to make my pitch to all my colleagues. We're going to have another
00:12:35.020 meeting tomorrow. I'll make my pitch to all my colleagues and we'll see. Um, I'm, I'm
00:12:39.880 making my pitch that this is who I am. I'm a business guy that believes in the Trump
00:12:43.680 agenda that will get his agenda accomplished. And we'll see if that prevails. I think it
00:12:47.880 will, uh, my colleagues have said they want somebody that wants an agenda, wants to treat
00:12:52.620 them as equals. Uh, and they know my background with Trump and with the speaker of the house,
00:12:56.960 uh, and with, uh, the Trump agenda. So I think I'm going to prevail, but we'll see tomorrow.
00:13:03.300 Uh, you mentioned Marco Rubio, uh, any suggestions as, as to who DeSantis should appoint to take
00:13:10.300 his seat? Well, there's a, there's a lot of great people. Laura Trump is one person that,
00:13:14.800 uh, people have brought up. We've got a lot of congressional members, whether it's, um,
00:13:19.220 Byron Donalds or Kat Kamek or Laura Lee or Vern Buchanan or Maria Salazar, that, you know,
00:13:25.960 Corey Mills. We've got so many great Republicans in Florida. We've got some statewide elected like
00:13:30.380 Ashley Moody and Jimmy Petronis and Wilton Simpson. We've got a lot of, we've got a lot of
00:13:34.500 people that we, we've watched their, we've watched them perform. Uh, so we'll see. It's the
00:13:39.700 governor's choice. Uh, so we'll see what happens. We are so grateful for you. Uh, thank you for
00:13:44.620 taking time out of your day to, to hop on, uh, to discuss your plans. Uh, just know we are cheering
00:13:50.540 for you, uh, supporting you every step of the way. So thank you. Thank you. Thank you, Senator Scott.
00:13:55.040 All right. Thanks. Have a great day. And thanks for your support.
00:13:58.500 Thank you guys for listening to the Gains for Girls podcast. Uh, I've gotten to know Senator Scott
00:14:02.820 over the past two ish years or so. Uh, he's amazing. He's been a fierce and fearless defender
00:14:10.680 of common sense values and legislation, things like keeping men out of women's sports. Uh, but
00:14:17.280 also the, the America first agenda, securing our border, protecting free speech, lowering
00:14:22.480 crime, uh, making our streets safe, uh, lower taxes. I mean, all, all things that I think
00:14:28.600 most Americans, uh, can appreciate and get behind. So we thank him for his, his service,
00:14:34.560 both as a veteran and both serving in the U S Senate. Uh, you can check out all things
