00:03:21.440 top issues that he campaigned on actually it was a top priority in the new house in the house rules

00:03:26.360 package so tell us very briefly what the protection of women and girls in sports act does

00:03:31.620 yeah it protects girls and women's sports and protects title nine back to the way it was supposed

00:03:36.640 to be um you know title nine was created by congress in the 50s over 50 years ago um to to specifically

00:03:44.300 protect uh women's sports and create a an avenue for women to compete with other women and obviously 0.64

00:03:50.260 the current biden administration has attacked that allowed biological men to compete in women's

00:03:55.860 sports which i think is absolutely atrocious and um we've worked on this bill for years when the

00:04:01.440 democrats were in control of the house they tried to pass what was called the equality act it

00:04:06.140 actually redefined women women didn't have a definition so that they could do this progressive 1.00

00:04:11.140 liberal ideology all across the country and i filed an amendment to that bill in the judiciary

00:04:16.980 committee and every single democrat voted against it and i said you know what this would be a good

00:04:21.360 standalone bill to stand with women to stand with women athletes and say look we don't believe that

00:04:26.460 biological men should be competing in women's sports and uh it's time that we take a stand on 0.99

00:04:31.580 this and you're right this was a huge election issue not just for trump but republicans and across the

00:04:37.340 country because even democrats and independent women don't think that men should be in their daughter's

00:04:43.020 locker rooms so it is an 80 percent issue across party lines and because the democrats and joe biden

00:04:51.120 and kamala harris were so left on this issue um it really turned people off and became a mainstream 0.69

00:04:57.120 issue for the for the campaign for just about any race in the country and so i'm very happy to see

00:05:02.680 that we're taking it up very early in the congress i mean this is really the first uh real week of votes

00:05:09.160 under a new rule and uh it's one of the first bills that are going to get an opportunity uh this first

00:05:14.700 bill that's going to pass you're right uh the american people spoke on november 5th and uh they

00:05:21.660 want trump they want uh his cabinet picks they want the america first agenda and i've said this many

00:05:27.380 times i certainly believe that people turned up to the polls to embrace donald trump but more so and

00:05:32.920 to your point i think people turned up to the polls to reject absurdity and that is clearly what the

00:05:39.520 democratic party has become entirely and thoroughly absurd they want men and women's sports they believe 0.94

00:05:45.480 that men can get pregnant they believe that men can breastfeed they believe that tampons belong in 1.00

00:05:50.420 in boys bathrooms so i mean what are you expecting the 119th congress are you expecting more democrats to

00:05:59.180 to essentially double down on their position uh the stance they have made very clear over the past four

00:06:04.900 years or are you starting to see and hopefully you will see more of these democrats beginning to to

00:06:11.000 slowly distance themselves from their previous voting record oh yeah they democrats are distancing

00:06:17.620 themselves from these type of issues because they know it's so toxic for them at home you've seen

00:06:22.540 democrats talk about this issue favorably now and say hey maybe it's not a good idea to have biological

00:06:28.440 men and women's sports so you're seeing them peel this back because they saw how bad the issue was for

00:06:33.640 them in this past election cycle even in florida you're seeing democrats change parties to republicans

00:06:40.340 you're seeing the democratic party itself really analyze the where they were on these very progressive

00:06:46.500 left issues because they saw that they were completely out of touch with the american people

00:06:56.000 sports this bill does that uh since it's passed the house i'm hoping that it'll get a quick uh judicious

00:07:02.260 hearing in the senate and we'll move its way to the to the president when trump gets inaugurated he can

00:07:22.280 uh which was kind of surprising to me given he was a sponsor of the equality act like you said but he

00:07:28.020 came out and said look i'm a dad you know i have daughters i don't want a man on the court or on

00:07:32.340 the field with them uh so how are you feeling now after this vote seeing bipartisan support it's a big

00:07:38.560 step from from last year where uh which i know you remember i remember it fell entirely on party lines

00:07:44.960 with 219 republicans voted in favor of protecting women and girls in sports and last year all 203 every

00:07:51.640 last one of them every last democrat who voted you know mothers and fathers of their own daughters

00:07:55.960 they voted in opposition but now you've seen bipartisan support it's a big step yeah it was

00:08:01.500 actually shocking to me last congress that not a single democrat voted for this bill uh so it's nice

00:08:07.500 that there's some democrats that have some common sense are actually seeing uh the movement of this

00:08:12.600 issue and how the mainstream america and americans all across party lines want to protect women's 1.00

00:08:18.840 sports uh so it's great that it got bipartisan support that'll help it as the bill moves through the

00:08:24.200 process into the senate hopefully there'll be some democratic senators that you'll see support the

00:08:29.020 bill when it gets into the senate and moves the process over there because if it's not part of

00:08:33.840 reconciliation you need 60 votes over there we only have 53 republican senators that means seven

00:08:38.460 democrats are going to have to break party lines but the best part of this is regardless of the votes

00:08:44.280 there is actually going to be a vote in the senate which chuck schumer prevented from happening this

00:08:48.460 whole last congress so let's put these democrats on the board in the senate and see where they're at

00:08:52.800 see if they they want to protect women's sports or not and it'll put all of those democratic senators 1.00

00:09:05.980 this week we saw in the senate a vote to to move to proceed with uh the consideration of the lake and

00:09:12.660 riley act uh and there were several democrats who hopped on board so hopefully it's there's some more

00:09:17.860 partisanship there uh and again to your point last fall uh ahead of the election in partnership with

00:09:24.580 independent women's voice uh something that was important to me and i hadn't seen done before

00:09:44.380 not we're allowing people to masquerade behind the the the phrases the catchphrases and and words

00:09:50.700 they use you know saying they defend women's rights when in reality uh that's been made very clear that

00:09:55.660 they have not and so this scorecard had pivotal impact uh it delivered a 90 win rate for those who

00:10:01.660 were riley gains approved uh and so i was i was honored to put my name uh you know behind such a

00:10:07.800 significant effort why do you think it's important for americans american voters to have access to this

00:10:15.200 information and why has it been so hard to know which leaders up until this point do stand with

00:10:21.600 women and which ones do not yeah it's great for voters to get that information because a lot of 1.00

00:10:26.740 voters are working two jobs they're working every day they're a firefighter or a policeman or a teacher

00:10:32.120 or whatever the case may be and they don't have time necessarily to do the research on the

00:10:36.700 candidate so when uh you're putting out that type of information on an issue that is very important

00:10:41.420 to them that issue is important to them but they may not have the time to research it so if they're

00:10:46.060 finding out uh in a quick manner where their their candidate sits on this issue and that's going to be

00:10:53.200 a determining factor for them as to how they're going to vote it's very helpful for them i i have

00:10:58.200 constituents all across my district that use all sorts of different types of voter guides to help make

00:11:03.120 their determinations on how they're going to vote so this obviously is a very important issue uh moving

00:11:08.860 forward into the country it's very helpful to them absolutely all of this momentum uh this bill of

00:11:14.560 course passing in the house going on to the senate uh you mentioned the the federal judge uh vacating

00:11:20.380 joe biden's radical rewrite of title nine nationwide all of this momentum it makes a lot of people

00:11:27.380 maybe like you said you're you're you're common sense everyday american who's working jobs who's

00:11:33.860 busy with their family you know they have a lot going on and understandably so they might think that

00:11:38.320 we've we've won the war the fight is over but you and i both know uh that's not the case of course with

00:11:44.220 the new administration there's a lot to be hopeful for but really we're just getting started

00:11:48.140 uh and so with this new administration coming on board what are some of the things that you are most

00:11:53.860 optimistic about well one they're going to protect they're going to protect title nine they're not

00:11:59.580 going to use the rulemaking process to redefine what a woman is like the biden administration did 1.00

00:12:03.800 uh so they're actually going to protect title nine they're going to keep men out of women's sports and 1.00

00:12:08.340 there's things that they can do from an executive perspective to protect that i hope also they

00:12:12.300 encourage the ncaa to take up the same position that we're advocating for uh and so there's other

00:12:18.420 things that they can also do from the administration side that if you're a college or university

00:12:23.200 and you're going to allow trans or biological men and women's sports we can take away their federal 1.00

00:12:29.400 funding so there's a lot of tools in the toolbox of the administration to be able to advocate for

00:12:34.480 these type of issues by using uh the money that these universities get uh so that's one way that

00:12:40.000 they can do it and also trying to get this i i think it's very important that this thing get a vote

00:12:44.120 in the senate and that uh we have an opportunity if that thing can get if this bill can get through the

00:12:48.980 senate and the president sign it it is now in law and nothing future administrations would be able

00:12:54.340 to do would be able to thwart uh the true intentions of title nine it would protect women's sports 1.00

00:12:59.100 indefinitely that's right yeah and you mentioned the ncaa uh we have seen charlie baker the president

00:13:04.740 of the ncaa testify many times before the senate uh basically saying he's not beholden to federal law

00:13:29.240 the 119th congress well for me personally it's all the things that trump trump ran on it's the border

00:13:49.200 there's all these things that trump ran on that i ran on that the republicans are going to put forward
