00:00:30.000just another episode of the riley gain show to remind you that the wmba the women's national
00:00:39.680basketball association is so unserious my entire brand has been built on protecting women's sports
00:00:47.620and that's not just like a slogan that i say uh for social media for clicks online like i really
00:00:53.560mean it i want women to have the opportunity to compete and to succeed in their sport whatever
00:00:58.700that sport may be. But the WNBA, they seem determined to sabotage itself at every single
00:01:07.100opportunity. I've said it before. I will say it again. I have never seen a league more dedicated
00:01:12.080to self-imploding than the WNBA. It feels like they just want to fold as an organization or a
00:01:18.980league or a business. They continue to support the wrong side of everything. And now they're
00:01:25.740attacking teenagers that they disagree with. It seems like every single week, it's another
00:01:31.600controversy. And not even because the basketball that's being played on the court, it's because of
00:01:36.340the league and the decisions that they're making administratively. I think this league is at a
00:01:41.260crossroads. They really, really need to decide what they want to be. They can either be a
00:01:46.340professional women's basketball league, or they can be an activist organization that occasionally
00:01:51.940plays basketball. And it seems as if they're hellbent on fulfilling the latter. The WNBA,
00:01:57.340as far as I see it, this is how outside looking in, I view the WNBA and their target audience,
00:02:03.200their base. I see two groups. On one hand, you have the disgruntled lesbians, right? Picture
00:02:08.940like the Rosie O'Donnells of the world, like that visual you have in your head. Yeah, that.
00:02:15.100And on the other hand, you have dads who enjoy taking their daughters to basketball games.
00:02:20.340Again, that's just talking about who actively tunes in to watch the games, who is showing up to be there in person watching a game.
00:02:27.860It really falls into, I think, those two categories.
00:02:31.280But the WNBA seems to forget about the dads and their young daughters and the families that want to show up because their little girls play basketball and they aspire to be just like Caitlin Clark.
00:02:41.520The WNBA forgets about them, and that's been made all the more evident after this past week when you had a co-owner of the Seattle Storm cursing out 16-year-old girls.
00:04:55.660Hearing that is sad and disappointing because it felt like they were just ignoring how we felt completely and didn't want to listen to our frustrations at all.
00:05:02.040And that's the crux of the gender ideology movement, right? It's constantly preaching of mental health. What about Annalie's mental health? Constantly preaching of inclusion. Well, what about the girl who placed ninth, who didn't get to stand on the podium? Because to me, it appears as if she was excluded, right? It's never about the girls, always about the boys.
00:05:22.680So you can imagine when the opportunity came to go watch Sophie Cunningham and Caitlin Clark play in her hometown, in her home state of Washington and Seattle, that would be pretty exciting, especially given recently where Sophie has come out and said, look, boys should not be in girls sports.
00:05:38.840someone like Anna Lee, that sort of courage that Sophie showed is contagious. Maybe that
00:05:44.040gave her the spark. It lit the fire under her to keep going. As you read in the article,
00:05:48.360it's easy to get down on yourself. Think about it as a 16 year old girl, when you're hearing
00:05:52.420insane, inaccurate slurs about you being called every sort of phobia, every sort of ism. And
00:05:58.500then you've got this professional female athlete who finally, a professional athlete finally takes
00:06:04.080a stand you want to go see that person play in real life with your own eyes you make a sign
00:06:09.280you're so excited you've got your shirt you expect to have a good time right yeah well until celeste
00:06:15.340keaton shows up the co-owner of seattle storm rather than explaining what happened let's just
00:06:21.520watch a video and hear it from anna lee and her friend's account tell me what happened when this
00:06:26.740woman approached you well we were just sitting there through signs that said like uh we love
00:06:31.720sophie like thank you so for speaking up and so we were holding on just watching the game again
00:06:35.920like we were being super great we hadn't said anything to anyone else we were being super
00:06:39.560respectful we were just holding our signs and cheering for both teams and this lady older lady
00:06:43.460comes up to us and she comes up to us and at first i think she's gonna be nice and she asked like
00:06:48.500what are you guys doing or something like that and then it was like jesus loves everyone that's
00:06:54.460what she told us and i was like oh i know like i'm really just like i know like i know yeah and
00:06:59.440She's like, oh, I hope Jesus can forgive you for what sin you've done and like something like that.
00:07:04.080And then she told us that we were effing insane.
00:07:06.180And she's like, and she went like, yeah, yeah, like you have to stop this and stop this.
00:07:11.520Yeah. And for you guys, I hope God can save you.
00:07:14.760Yeah. She said for you to come here and pull this.
00:07:17.480Yeah. She said the word. Yeah. Did she say effing insane or?
00:16:58.500I think the most loving, compassionate thing you can do is to tell the truth.
00:17:02.360And I think someone should tell Stephanie Dolson that.
00:17:06.940And I guess my last comment, I want to direct to her and to this co-owner of the Seattle Storm and to anyone in the WNBA who wants to listen.
00:17:17.220If you really support men and women's sports, let men play.
00:17:22.640I mean, let LeBron James on the court with your girl.
00:17:27.040Stephanie, if you have no problem with men on the court, with you all as women, then allow each team that you play against for the rest of the season to have just one man on their team for the rest of the season.
00:17:38.620See how that would go. Maybe they would change their mind. I can tell you what the outcome would be.
00:17:43.380Anyone with like a fifth grade understanding of biology would tell you what the outcome would be.
00:17:48.500If even you let one boy, one man who maybe didn't quite, let's take a college player, college basketball player, men's college basketball player who didn't quite make the league, let him play on the rest of the teams that you play for the rest of the season.
00:18:15.020Of course, the team with the boy would win.
00:18:17.620And again, just to hit the point, it's not to say that women are inferior or less than, we just have different physical ceilings. We have different capabilities. There's nothing wrong with that. It's why women's sports were created to showcase that, to highlight that, to celebrate it, to honor it, and to protect it.
00:18:33.620And when we allow men into those spaces, there's no point for women's sports at all.
00:18:41.180So what happened on the back end of this following this interaction that we saw from Celeste Keaton?
00:18:47.200Namely, the WNBA offered a pretty weak apology.
00:18:58.840Everyone who attends a Storm game deserves to feel welcome, and we remain committed to creating an inclusive, there it is, an inclusive environment where every fan is treated with respect.
00:19:09.120Yeah, so that was like a, we love everyone, but terms and conditions may apply.
00:19:16.760It feels like there's a clause in there, but nonetheless, WNBA did ultimately decide to suspend Celeste Keaton from the next five home games and has been fired.
00:19:28.280You've been looking forward to this all week.
00:19:32.280And with Cutwater's Cocktails, this took only seconds.
00:19:37.720Because tonight's about catching up, not catching the server.
00:19:41.080Whether it's our Cutwater Lime Margherita, Lemon Drop Martini,
00:19:44.880or Rum Mai Tai, they're expertly mixed
00:19:47.400and ready before the snacks hit the table.
00:23:18.140I guess I can kind of tease something. Keep your TV screens on this weekend. Maybe click on an
00:23:24.360Indiana Fever game that's happening in Minneapolis on Sunday around one o'clock. I figure I might
00:23:33.660need to make an appearance at a WNBA game. I've never been to one before, and I want to go. Those
00:23:38.780young girls, those two girls, they inspired me. The saying of courage is contagious. Yes, it's
00:23:45.000cliche, but it's true. And those young girls, their courage has inspired me. So I might have
00:23:51.540to just sit courtside with my girl, Caitlin and Sophie. Stay tuned. The WNBA posted a video of
00:23:58.720Angel Reese and Paige Buchers betting $400 on which women's team would win. Games that they
00:24:06.580were involved in, by the way. Let's play the video really quick. At All-Star Weekend, you and Angel
00:24:13.100made a bet with each other on this game is that this is how the rich say rich you gotta say you
00:24:19.420gotta say this money i'm gonna see you next week on wednesday yeah at night no at practice oh at

00:25:15.280concerned about your gambling or that someone close to you call 1-866-531-2600 or visit
00:25:17.800connexontario.ca betting this is illegal uh the league deleted it really quickly after they
00:25:24.300realized that this violates league rules so the league is so dumb moronic idiotic stupid
00:25:31.680for posting this, but the players, what are y'all doing? You had to, you had to, everyone knows
00:25:39.460that it's legal for fixed betting. And that's what this is. How stupid are you to be on video
00:25:47.380placing these bets with cash being shown? And then for Angel Reese to afterwards say,
00:25:53.760I'll accept my Apple pay and the presser when she's asked about this. Players in the NFL,
00:25:59.500in the MLB and the NBA have missed entire seasons, if not been banned from their sport
00:26:04.740for life for doing this. But there's been virtually nothing, nothing, radio silence
00:26:10.980from liberal media, liberal sports media specifically. Imagine, first, if you don't
00:26:18.820watch basketball, if you don't know who these players are, Angel Reese, who if you're watching
00:26:22.740at youtube.com, you saw she's a black woman. She played at LSU. Ghetto, quite frankly,
00:26:29.500she's not ghetto because she's black. She's ghetto because she's ghetto and how she talks
00:26:32.500and how she dresses. Uh, there are some things actually that I like about Angel Reese. Um,
00:26:36.680I think she paid off her mom's house, which that's super cool and admirable. Um, so I'm
00:26:41.580not on like an Angel Reese hate train. I'm really not, but, um, she is ghetto, I think
00:26:46.480is a, an accurate word to describe her and not because of the color of her skin. I can
00:26:50.740already picture it. This getting clipped Riley Gaines calls black girl ghetto. She's not ghetto
00:26:55.000because she's black. She's ghetto because she's ghetto. Okay. And then you have Paige Buechers,
00:26:59.300who I think is lesbian or queer or a part of that community. Imagine if this story involved
00:27:07.460Caitlin Clark. I feel bad for Caitlin Clark because so much kind of gets flipped back on her.
00:27:13.240Actually, what I'm doing right now, I feel bad because Caitlin didn't necessarily,
00:27:17.260I mean, she didn't, she never explicitly asked for this, but I do think it's worth making,
00:27:21.000you know, highlighting the dichotomy that exists. If this story involved Caitlin Clark,
00:27:26.400or better yet, Sophie Cunningham, it would be nonstop ESPN coverage. It would be national
00:27:32.700outrage. It would be wall-to-wall debate. It would be demands for punishment and suspension and fines,
00:27:38.460but we're not seeing that. It's radio silence. I will say, regardless of who is involved,
00:27:45.720I hope we see a full investigation on this. I think the findings should be made public. I think discipline should be had if it's warranted. And I think there should be no special treatment because it's two of the left wing crazy WNBA's stars who are who are involved in the contention.
00:28:07.160We need consistent enforcement of league rules.
00:28:11.440We've called for that with Caitlin Clark and the violence that she has faced, that she has been a direct target of, and we're calling for it here.
00:28:19.640And if league leadership fails to protect competitive integrity, we need to see leadership change, quite frankly, including the WNBA commissioner.
00:28:30.960And I think even more broader, the NBA commissioner, discipline there should be on the table.
00:28:37.300It really should, because, again, at the end of the day, the NBA pours $20 million into that dumpster fire of a league every single year.
00:28:47.180If the NBA pulls their support, then maybe they will change.
00:28:52.040But the WNBA, I mean, they're comfortable.
00:28:58.600But I guess last thing here, I really, I'll finish just how I started it.
00:29:03.900I want women to succeed in sports, or at least to have the opportunity to succeed in sports.
00:29:11.660The WNBA, they're like hanging on to this choice by a thread, but they have a choice.
00:29:16.920It can become the premier women's basketball league in the world.
00:29:21.600I think it would take leaning into Caitlin Clark, protecting her.
00:29:24.400I mean, at bare minimum, leaning into the Sophie Cunninghams of the world, or, which this is more likely, unfortunately, the WNBA can continue to alienate fans until people stop paying attention altogether.
00:29:40.780I really, really hope it chooses wisely because women's sports and female athletes deserve a whole lot better than what the WNBA is giving them.
00:29:49.920Thank you guys for watching The Riley Gaines Show. You can subscribe right here.
