Question period is a time where members of the Legislative Assembly have the right to ask questions of the Executive Council. They might not be government backbenchers, they might be opposition members, but it's not to take potshots back and forth across the floor against other members.

00:00:00.000 The next question, the member for Don Valley West.
00:00:02.020 Thank you very much, Mr. Speaker.
00:00:03.220 And my question is for the Minister of Education.
00:00:05.640 I'm asking this question, of course, in my capacity as a politician,
00:00:08.600 but I'm also asking it as a mother and a grandmother.
00:00:11.100 I ask the Minister to explain to the children of Ontario
00:00:14.040 why they are not worth that investment.
00:00:17.260 Thank you. The next question, the member for Carleton.
00:00:19.340 Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
00:00:20.300 Mr. Speaker, my question is for the Associate Minister of Energy,
00:00:23.220 but before I ask my question, I can't help but comment.
00:00:26.960 You know, there's a reason that the Liberal Party is in the corner and in the penalty box because they talk about our government investing in children.
00:00:35.520 Well, where was the member for Don Valley West when they shut down Munster Elementary School?
00:00:44.600 I'm going to ask you to stop the clock.
00:00:46.460 The purpose of question period is for members of the Legislative Assembly to ask questions
00:00:59.360 of the Executive Council and hold the Executive Council to account.
00:01:03.000 They might be government backbenchers asking the question, they might be opposition members.
00:01:06.580 But it's not to take potshots back and forth across the floor against other members.
00:01:16.280 So I am now going to start the clock and allow the member for Carleton to place her question
00:01:20.360 to the Minister.
00:01:21.360 Thank you Mr. Speaker.
