00:00:00.000 I want to take this opportunity to talk a little more about the budget that our Government

00:00:10.560 for the People unveiled on April 11.

00:00:13.180 The people of Ontario can sleep a little easier these days knowing that our province is on

00:00:18.000 the path towards balancing the budget so that we can protect what matters most—our vital

00:00:22.960 services such as health care and education.

00:00:25.720 Mr. Speaker, I was especially encouraged by what this budget does for the City of Ottawa.

00:00:32.120 Adding on to the $1.2 billion investment our government is making in the LRT, which was

00:00:38.520 incredible news for residents in Riverside South, Finlay Creek, Manitik-Stitzville and,

00:00:44.000 in fact, everywhere across the riding of Carleton, our budget included the word Ottawa 13 times.

00:00:51.360 It included $2 million in funding for the Ottawa Police Services to help combat the gang- and

00:00:57.780 gun-related crime.

00:00:59.580 This budget will also mean great things, not just for the residents of Carleton, but for

00:01:03.740 everyone in the City of Ottawa and across Ontario as well.

00:01:07.800 Not only that, Mr. Speaker, the province has also promised to contribute funding towards

00:01:12.340 the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario's Children's Treatment Centre, and it's

00:01:17.340 committed to help the Ottawa Hospital with the expansion of the Civic Campus expanded

00:01:21.020 to open by 2026. With that, I want to thank the Minister of Finance and its Parliamentary

00:01:27.900 Secretary for their dedicated work, as well as the Premier of Ontario.
