Iranian here with another pro tip for anyone who's not from the Middle East.
00:00:03.900
If you're one of the people who's been messaging me or commenting,
00:00:07.180
asking me to talk about Iranian food, tonight's your lucky night.
00:00:10.960
Before we get started, I just want to say like I'm not a food blogger.
00:00:13.900
My area of expertise and what I'm comfortable talking about is of course
00:00:17.480
Iran, Middle Eastern politics, Islamic terrorism, you know, that sort of thing.
00:00:21.720
So let me tell you what happened first before I get into the food review.
00:00:24.880
A good friend of mine who I met through politics is an Iranian police officer.
00:00:28.680
And whenever he's in town, we like to catch up over dinner.
00:00:31.640
And because we're both Iranian, we of course prefer Iranian food.
00:00:35.080
And the reason I picked Tehran Toh is because I've heard amazing things about it.
00:00:38.720
My sister says the kabao kubideh is to die for, so of course I wanted to go try it out.
00:00:43.220
And one of the things I like to do before I eat is I like to take a picture of my food.
00:00:46.580
It doesn't matter if it's at home or outside, it's just a little habit I have.
00:00:50.300
I don't post it anywhere, but I have like tons and tons of food pictures.
00:00:54.160
So we're sitting at the table having a conversation.
00:00:56.060
I'm taking pictures of the appetizers and then the server comes to take the menus away and I'm like
00:01:00.340
oh no no can you hold on a second I want to take a photo and he was like oh is this for Instagram
00:01:03.900
and I didn't know how to answer so I was just like I'm thinking about it then he asked me how
00:01:09.020
many followers I have and because I'm just you know like starting out with my political advocacy
00:01:13.740
stuff I've only been really going at what I've been doing on Instagram for about a month and a
00:01:17.600
half I said oh like I'm just starting out I'm only at 120,000 followers and that was basically it I
00:01:26.480
Next thing I know, he brought out a few things,
00:01:40.640
I probably should have mentioned that my focus is politics
00:01:47.320
But then I remembered that many of you have asked me
00:01:52.600
some of the best dishes are and things like that so i figured i might as well use the opportunity to
00:01:57.000
talk about iranian food i also just want to put out there that whatever they did not charge me
00:02:02.280
um i added as a tip afterwards i'm not a professional food blogger by any means i'm
00:02:07.880
not comfortable getting free things like that i've also never felt more awkward in my life where i
00:02:13.000
was like the camera was there and i'm you know eating food in front of the camera i don't know
00:02:18.840
know how food bloggers do it like it was just very very awkward my friend who's you know the
00:02:23.280
police officer he's sitting opposite for me and he's like you know he's dying of laughter because
00:02:27.460
again like i'm i'm a former politician i'm not a food blogger like i talk politics you know i like
00:02:32.060
to keep it serious but the food was absolutely phenomenal the service was amazing so i am more
00:02:39.580
than happy to do this so the next video that i upload will be the actual food review i'm also
00:02:44.120
going to talk about some of my favorite Iranian foods. I'll also explain to you how we eat the
00:02:49.100
food and give you some suggestions for things you can try if you decide to go to an Iranian
00:02:53.540
restaurant. So here you go. Here's Iranian food 101.
