00:05:14.520 And more specifically, how Iranians reacted to the news of President Trump bombing some nuclear facilities in occupied Iran.

00:05:30.360 And the answer isn't necessarily what you would think.

00:05:34.840 but when you understand the context of Iran and where it is today then it makes a lot of sense

00:05:45.060 so what I'm going to do for you guys is I'm going to um go a little bit back because in order to

00:05:53.760 understand in order to properly understand um Iranians and their reactions to things

00:06:00.660 You need to understand what exactly it is that Iranians are going through. And so that's some of the nuances that a lot of the so-called Middle East experts or even the journalists or reporters, they don't really know about it or they don't really talk about it or they gloss over it.

00:06:22.980 And then that is what creates a lot of confusion, which then leads to people thinking or leads to Americans thinking that Iranians hate them when that is the farthest thing from the truth.

00:06:39.120 If you look at the picture here below, that is not AI. That is a real photo from the 1970s during the presidential visit of Richard Nixon to Iran.

00:07:05.860 So there you go. In the 1970s, the United States and Iran were very strong allies, okay?

00:07:27.980 American flag, and of course here is the Iranian flag. Now what you notice about this Iranian flag

00:08:44.260 So that's our baseline, guys. Our baseline is prior to the 1979 Islamic occupation of Iran,

00:08:53.840 Okay. Iran and the United States were very close allies, both diplomatically, militarily as well. Militarily, they were huge allies. The United States provided a lot of military grade weapons and fighter jets to Iran because of the very close relationship that Iran had with the United States.

00:09:23.840 so that's sort of the the starting point so having said that guys now I want to explain

00:09:33.280 something to you so the baseline is Iran and the United States are allies so then what happens in

00:09:40.320 1979 in 1979 the Islamic Republic takes over okay I actually did a live stream about this

00:09:52.580 last night. I'll talk about that a little bit more. But in 1979, the Islamic Republic

00:09:58.580 takes over and they occupy our country. So you can see on the left of the screen here, 1.00

00:10:09.700 that's Iran, the Lion and Sun flag. And then on the right, you see the Allahu Akbar flag

00:11:02.160 Okay. The people who had just overtaken the country took the Americans hostage. So it was only when the Islamic regime occupied Iran that this enmity towards the United States began. But that enmity never came from the Iranian people. It came from the jihadis, right? It came from the anti-imperialists. 0.97

00:11:38.500 So. Having said that, it is now important to realize that as of 1979, there are two, two groups within the boundary of Iran, let's say.

00:11:52.940 You have Iran and the Iranian people who are being held hostage. And then you have the Islamic Republic, which is holding the Iranian people hostage. And in fact, the Islamic Republic created something called the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which is tasked with not just murdering Iranians, but spreading terrorism and jihad around the world.

00:12:43.320 Okay, that's very important because there's Iran and then there's the Islamic Republic, two completely different things.

00:12:59.880 where the confusion comes in unfortunately a lot of people in the media a lot of politicians a lot

00:13:07.420 of pundits a lot of analysts when they are referring to the evil dictatorship that is

00:13:14.440 occupying iran they don't say the islamic republic they just say iran

00:13:24.200 when they're talking about the islamic regime attacking the united states they don't say the

00:13:30.760 islamic republic they say iran and so all of a sudden people assume like everyone is assuming

00:13:40.680 that you're referring to Iranians when that's not the case at all. Now, it's important to note as

00:13:46.120 well that the Islamic Republic themselves, when they are speaking in English, will refer to

00:13:52.620 themselves as Iran because they want people to think that Iranians are the enemy. They want 0.91

00:13:59.060 Americans, they want everyone else to think that Iranians hate you. Why? Because if you think that

00:14:06.740 Iranians don't like you, then you're not going to want to help them free themselves from the

00:14:12.340 occupation, right? Again, Iranians have been held hostage for 47 years. And before the internet,

00:14:19.440 before social media, before the ability to communicate from outside the country,

00:14:26.440 many people thought that Iranians hated Americans, right? Because that's what the Islamic regime 1.00

00:18:50.420 living in the United States and for Americans who have interacted, example yourself, with

00:18:55.460 Iranians, by now should know the difference between what actually Iranians believe or think 0.60

00:19:05.760 alien to us in terms of values, in terms of beliefs, in terms of principles.

00:19:16.180 I hope that provides a bit more context and explanation as to not just the difference between Iran and the Islamic Republic, but the importance of understanding that distinction.

00:19:32.920 Because once you understand that difference between Iran and the Islamic Republic, then the reaction of Iranians towards Americans and President Trump starts to make a lot more sense.

00:19:47.140 And then once you know that, like anyone who already appreciates the difference between Iran and the Islamic Republic is like so far ahead of all of the analysts and experts who lump in the Iranian people with the Islamic Republic and pretend that they are one and the same when it's, you know, the complete farthest thing from the truth.

00:20:25.880 grandmother um she's in America um I'm assuming an American citizen this is her reaction to

00:20:33.220 President Trump um getting elected or not not sorry not getting elected this is this is during

00:20:41.500 the um uh you know leading up to the american election um this is what iranian americans

00:20:48.900 thought about president trump like her reaction is is pretty typical

00:20:52.980 she's like you know god saved you god kept you for us you know um it wouldn't be fair if you

00:21:14.640 passed away like she's referring to him surviving the assassination attempt

00:21:22.980 oh there you go um and the reason the reason that iranians in america the vast majority support

00:21:38.820 president trump is because he has taken um a very strong stance against the islamic republic

00:21:48.580 right? In his first term, President Trump assassinated Qasem Soleimani. Qasem Soleimani

00:21:55.460 was the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps at the time. Again, the Islamic Revolutionary 0.94

00:22:02.260 Guard Corps was created by the Ayatollahs, by the Islamic Republic to keep the Islamic 0.59

00:22:09.460 Republic in power. How do they do that? They do that by murdering Iranians who want to rise up 0.99

00:24:41.040 so this was the reaction of Iranians in occupied Iran to the news of President Trump exterminating

00:24:49.040 the war criminal Soleimani so you can see all those students out there and then unfortunately

00:25:28.720 So I'm really grateful for Marco Rubio because Marco Rubio also makes that distinction

00:25:38.220 between Iranians and the Islamic regime. Unfortunately, I don't think the distinction

00:25:47.180 goes far enough because, you know, he still uses the word Iran when he's referring to the

00:25:54.360 Islamic Republic. We know what he means, but for many people who are not familiar with this dynamic

00:26:01.480 of Iranians versus the Islamic Republic, it can be confusing. And so that's why we're a little bit,

00:26:07.940 sticklers there. He does explain it, though. He does explain it. But again, this is where some

00:26:14.840 of the confusion comes in. This is why people think that Iranians hate Americans when Iranians

00:26:20.980 actually don't. But this is a very important clip from Marco Rubio. This is from June 22.

00:26:27.640 Are we now at war with Iran?

00:26:31.580 No, we're not. This is not a war against Iran. This is.

00:26:34.440 That is critical, guys. Okay, this is really important. So this is where all of the, you know,

00:26:41.620 no war with Iran people, they actually support the Islamic Republic, because the United States

00:26:48.940 and Israel were not at war with Iran or the Iranian people. They were at war with the Islamic 0.95

00:26:57.240 Republic, which is occupying the Iranian people. So there is a huge difference here, right?

00:27:03.780 So listen to this, and then I'm going to dig into this a little bit more as well. But that's really important. So there was never a war with Iran. It was a conflict with the Islamic Republic.

00:28:18.200 last 35 years and you know the president told them that we don't get a deal that

00:28:40.600 these countries putting out statements condemning us privately, they all agree with us that this

00:28:44.940 needed to be done. They got to do what they got to do for, you know, their own public relations

00:28:48.980 purposes. But the only people in the world that are unhappy about what happened in Iran last

00:28:53.900 night is the regime in Iran. Have you heard from anyone in Iran and are you expecting retaliation?

00:29:03.660 Well, if they retaliate, it'll be the worst mistake they've ever made. Look, we can fly in

00:29:08.840 and out of iran at will we went in last night the president sent our military forces from halfway

00:29:13.840 across the world went in conducted this operation left not a shot was fired against us they didn't

00:29:19.820 even know what had happened by the time we left the planes were out of their airspace before they

00:29:23.180 finally started realizing they'd been hit so it would be a terrible mistake of iran retaliate so

00:29:28.420 but that's not our goal this we are not declaring war on iran we're not looking for war on iran but

00:29:33.480 if they attack us then i think we have capabilities they haven't even seen yet it would be a terrible

00:29:37.700 mistake on their part. And frankly, it's not what we hope for or wish. What we want now is to ensure

00:29:42.420 that Iran never has nuclear weapons. What they want is a civil nuclear program where they have 0.96

00:29:51.360 that's been offered to them. They rejected it. They played us. They tried to play us, I should

00:29:55.220 say. They wouldn't respond to our offers. They disappeared for 10 days. And now, you know,

00:30:06.080 ambiguity can you walk us through the plan in terms of how it was deceptive not are we

00:30:13.200 so again like he keeps on referring to iran right but this is this like pay attention to this now

00:30:21.400 so this is what is always a little bit frustrating for me as an iranian because marco rubio okay he

00:30:28.840 understands the difference between iranians and the islamic republic okay he understands that

00:30:35.640 Iranians are occupied by the Islamic Republic. He understands that Iranians are trying to overthrow 0.97

00:30:42.260 the Islamic Republic and reclaim their country. And yet in that previous interview, he just keeps

00:30:49.140 on saying Iran, Iran, Iran. And then that's like that narrative is what confuses people.

00:30:54.580 But listen to what he says here. This clip did not get as much notice or attention as it should

00:31:03.500 have. But listen to what he says here and listen to how he acknowledges the difference between

00:31:10.320 Iranians and the Islamic Republic. So Iran today, let me, two points I want to make about Iran,

00:31:17.560 and it's really important. When we talk about Iran, I'm talking about the radical Shia clerics 0.74

00:31:21.260 and not the people. The people of Iran are people of an ancient civilization, an ancient culture

00:31:26.140 with tremendous pride and advances. And I don't know who take great pride in their Persian heritage

00:31:31.680 and identity. And I don't know of any nation on earth in which there is a bigger difference

00:31:35.880 between the people and those who govern them than what exists in Iran. And that's a fact that needs 1.00

00:31:40.300 to be made repeatedly. And no way is the clerics who run that country representative of the people

00:31:45.900 of that country and of its history and of contributions it's made to humanity. And it's

00:31:50.880 a point I wish we would continue to make. So again, that's very important, right? Like he

00:31:57.720 recognizes the difference between Iranians versus the Islamic Republic. And I also wanted to point

00:32:09.140 out, okay, where is it? Okay, so I want to show this as well. So this is a video that was made

00:32:17.560 by the Richard Nixon Foundation, okay? This video, once again, shows how strong of an ally,

00:32:28.740 like how strong the allyship was between Iran and the United States before the Islamic Republic

00:32:37.140 occupied Iran. So just let's watch this video together.

00:32:54.040 video was made because last year so i don't know if you guys heard but this year president trump
