00:00:00.000 Hello, my name is Greg Wycliffe. I'm the People's Party of Canada candidate for Parkdale High Park.
00:00:05.860 If you're receiving this video, then you are a PPC member in that riding. I want to make this
00:00:11.500 video to let you know my background, why I'm running, and most importantly, I want to hear
00:00:15.940 from you. I would love to start a conversation. So let's start with my background. I was born and
00:00:21.100 raised in Kingston, Ontario with two loving parents. I visited this riding a lot because
00:00:27.180 my aunt and uncle lived near the Baby Point area and I'd spend a lot of time exploring around Humber
00:00:32.160 River and such. My dad was a metallurgist working for Alcan Aluminum Canada. My mom was a school
00:00:37.800 teacher. They're both now happily retired. I have two older sisters. One was a world-class
00:00:43.820 athlete, NC2A school, full scholarship for swimming. She represented Canada in the Junior Olympics.
00:00:51.120 The other one is a very successful businesswoman living in downtown Toronto for a tech company.
00:00:56.540 And myself. Myself, I currently work in business development for a media company here in Toronto.
00:01:01.500 Before that, I was a part-time announcer and account manager for a radio conglomerate that
00:01:07.640 owns radio stations across Canada, but primarily focused in the largest market here in Toronto.
00:01:13.700 Before that, I had a media studies degree that I got from University of Western Ontario and
00:01:19.080 also a postgraduate diploma in radio broadcasting from Banshot College, all of which happened in
00:01:25.080 London. So why am I running? Right now, the news media industry in our country is being artificially
00:01:32.320 supported by the Liberal government to the tune of over half a billion dollars. Plain and simple,
00:01:38.160 this compromises the integrity of our democracy. It cripples our media's ability to be non-partisan
00:01:44.780 and do its job, which is facilitate healthy conversations where we hear different viewpoints
00:01:50.440 from different ends of the political spectrum. If we can't have robust conversations, there's no way
00:01:55.840 we're going to find robust solutions to these 21st century problems. Problems we've never faced
00:02:01.080 before. On top of that, I want to make sure we create a media landscape that serves Canadians
00:02:05.380 and does not serve one political party over another. As your MP, I will ensure Canada remains a free
00:02:13.260 country. Freedom of thought, freedom of expression, and freedom of the press so we can go back to that
00:02:18.800 time when we had open discussions, open debates to find the best solutions. I love the PPC because
00:02:26.300 it's made up of people that love their country. Obviously, it was inspired by Maxime Bernier, but that
00:02:31.560 momentum comes from the proud Canadians who volunteer their time and resources. Now, you're just getting
00:02:37.980 to know me, so I totally understand if you're not comfortable donating just yet. However, what is
00:02:42.480 most important to me right now and more valuable is your time and your voice. I would love to hear
00:02:47.660 your ideas. I would love to hear your thoughts. If you have any resources from, you know, printing
00:02:52.200 services or sign services or office space or event venues, anything like that, please start a
00:02:58.440 conversation. I'm very open to ideas about resources. If you have connections with community
00:03:04.080 groups, if you have connections with business owners, then definitely reach out. Respond to
00:03:08.400 this email, book a time to chat with me on the phone, and keep your eyes peeled because we will
00:03:13.700 be sending another email about our meet and greet soon happening in the riding. Thank you so much
00:03:18.820 for watching this video and giving me the chance to be of service, and I look forward to chatting
00:03:23.200 with you very soon.
00:03:28.440 Thank you.
