Greg Wycliffe - Ottawa wants us divided - Documentary Vlog

00:00:00.000 I'm just in Calgary here and we are on the final stretch really on getting all

00:00:07.480 the interviews we need for this documentary and I'm really feeling

00:00:11.280 pumped I'm feeling pumped up about it because I'm I was just reflecting a

00:00:17.040 moment ago I'm just in Calgary here beautiful view beautiful view out in

00:00:21.600 Calgary you can kind of see the mountains in the distance anyway this is just a

00:00:26.920 vlog okay this isn't supposed to be the quality part this is just to be that

00:00:30.320 the journaling documenting but I'm just reflecting on the caliber of people that

00:00:39.680 we have interviewed and and who we're bringing together to have this shared

00:00:46.540 story about how really Canada is not that free of a country and again maybe it's

00:00:54.460 the iced coffee maybe it's the caffeine talking but like I am super pumped that

00:00:59.920 we've been able to collect all of these voices because it really is sort of not

00:01:08.140 easy it's not easy because people are afraid to associate with this or

00:01:15.280 associate with that and what if the you know like and it's understandable to have

00:01:22.860 that fear unfortunately it's understandable to have that fear and you know I don't

00:01:29.760 want to sound I don't want to be all victim mean like you know I don't want to

00:01:32.620 blah blah blah but what a lot of the people in this documentary have been through

00:01:37.480 is traumatic you know I don't think it's an exaggeration to call it at the very

00:01:45.060 least like a small t trauma you know we're social beings human beings are social when

00:01:53.760 we get cut off from friends family colleagues and we think our own community or whoever think

00:02:01.260 we're these horrible people all of a sudden yeah that kind of has an impact on you that

00:02:07.140 kind of messes with your head that messes with everything it messes with your life it ruins

00:02:12.960 your life in some cases it's not just and it's not just in your head you know it it affects your

00:02:19.300 anyway you'll see it all in the documentary but like these like to call it a traumatic is not an

00:02:27.540 exaggeration and because of that not only do uh regular Canadian citizens not want to talk to each

00:02:35.480 other or they're afraid to speak up but even the people who have kind of gone through the ringer

00:02:39.160 they've had like the worst sort of consequences so because of that they're kind of you know

00:02:45.360 sometimes they'll get their backup I'm like you know I've been through enough I've been through 0.80

00:02:48.920 enough shit you know I don't want to have to uh risk put myself out there again and get burned or 0.73

00:02:55.280 whatever um so I really from the bottom of my heart thank you so much to everyone who has put their 0.97

00:03:04.260 faith in me and trusted me to sit down for an interview to bring this project together

00:03:09.340 because that's really that's really what is needed uh not just to make the documentary but like in the

00:03:17.040 country like being able to trust one another and also put aside our differences right because out of

00:03:24.620 all the people I've interviewed sure there's gonna be hey what's your opinion on foreign conflict a

00:03:30.760 foreign conflict b I don't agree with this you know maybe the solution is this I don't like this 0.86

00:03:36.960 party that party the solution's that you're all wrong I'm the only right one I'm kidding but it's like

00:03:44.680 it doesn't matter we're right we're wrong the fact is we have different opinions right and uh it's been

00:03:53.880 it's been very inspiring to overcome that um because it's like hey we have a common enemy here

00:04:02.560 okay we have a we have a lot in common we agree on all the major points about freedom of speech

00:04:08.860 and how people have been wronged and how that persecution is wrong so it really doesn't matter

00:04:15.060 you know like getting caught up and like oh well we agree on this but we don't agree on that you know

00:04:20.020 it's um it's great that we can overcome that because that's kind of that's kind of what the

00:04:29.720 people in parliament want right they want us fighting amongst ourselves bickering over what

00:04:34.680 geopolitical issues or whatever but it's like um all these people are paying a whole bunch of money

00:04:41.480 to lawyers dealing with court dates and nonsense over what exactly like this is the stuff we can agree

00:04:48.140 on of that's wrong that's messed up and calling us a free country if you're some of these individuals

00:04:54.480 is a total farce um and just the treatment of others is totally unacceptable and has flown under

00:05:02.920 the radar largely and really what the documentary is is is showing the trends showing the patterns and

00:05:10.000 being like this is very consistent and there's specific organizations that are pushing this stuff

00:05:15.200 and are kind of like the ticking heartbeat of like the cancel culture and the let's ruin their life 0.71

00:05:20.560 if they have the wrong political opinion and i'm very excited to tell the story and start to

00:05:26.820 obviously hold those uh responsible accountable and to you know can righteously condemn these people

00:05:35.520 and these groups and these organizations and these individuals but also to inspire canadians to

00:05:41.560 inspire the canadians who who think they have the wrong opinion or think that they're in the bad

00:05:46.420 camp or whatever and be like forget all of that forget those labels don't be intimidated by these labels

00:05:51.960 or being thrown into camps because you know if if we allow ourselves to believe the lies of the cbc 0.88

00:06:02.860 well i know i'm not that but the cbc is lying about me in this way and i'm just going to accept that

00:06:09.820 um no no uh that's no it needs to be we need to be fearless we need to be brave we need to not care

00:06:19.980 about these labels and realize that it's all done in bad faith it's all done in bad faith you know none of

00:06:27.280 this is anything other than a very specific political agenda playing out um because it only

00:06:34.900 happens to people with a very specific political opinion and it only happens to people who are

00:06:40.680 actually breaking through into a larger audience those are the only people who get targeted for the

00:06:46.940 most part people who are actually being effective and who are attractive and charming and and winning

00:06:52.880 the support of people that's only when you get targeted when you're being effective

00:06:55.940 anyway i'm rambling on i'm really excited to get all these people together in this documentary

00:07:01.320 um and we need to promote it we need to promote it we need to get this to as many

00:07:06.180 eyes and ears as possible in canada cbc watchers included and beyond and that's why i'm working with

00:07:13.720 this award-winning uh filmmaker because he's going to do just that he's going to craft the method

00:07:19.220 like the script has been in the works for over a year like we've been working on this for a long time

00:07:24.360 and it is designed to reach out of all the echo chambers into the mainstream anybody who wants

00:07:30.520 to oh canada's not as free as i thought you know well okay let's take a look and see what this

00:07:34.800 documentary has to say and it and it grabs their hand of the cbc watcher and says hey let's go on a

00:07:40.460 journey come with me come with me and uh

00:07:44.740 honestly a big reason of why i want to make this documentary is i have a lot of

00:07:50.600 friends and family who i grew up with who watch cbc and believe it all and when i try to tell them

00:07:59.000 the stories the true stories the real stories sometimes i feel crazy or i even think in the

00:08:06.440 back of my head they're gonna think i'm crazy because it is crazy but when there's nothing to

00:08:11.360 like point to nothing to show them that's easy to consume about what is happening in this country

00:08:18.160 i feel powerless i feel like i can't how do i explain this to people so once the documentary is

00:08:25.180 done i'll be away take a look here's all the examples that i'm talking about this is what i'm

00:08:31.500 talking about over here this is what i mean um give it a watch this is the country you live in

00:08:39.300 maybe you'd want to see why it's actually not as free if you disagree with like the ruling ideology

00:08:44.280 kind of an important thing kind of a little caveat free country if we can't disagree with the ruling

00:08:50.640 ideology really not that free actually anyway uh if you want to help support it and support the

00:08:57.540 marketing of it as well because a larger marketing budget means the guy i'm working with knows how to

00:09:03.900 market this properly he knows how to do all types of stuff of targeting and and getting it uh submitted

00:09:09.220 to film festivals and all of that the bigger the budget the more people that are going to see this

00:09:14.060 the more that people are going to realize that we're not crazy and start to agree with us and not

00:09:18.180 only that there's going to be more pressure on the people that we're holding accountable um in

00:09:23.140 this film so please go to give send go.com slash save free speech send a donation there anything helps

00:09:29.540 thank you so much and uh we'll talk to you soon and again thanks so much to everyone who was involved

00:09:38.120 and also agreed to being interviewed because your trust means a lot having faith in me means a lot

00:09:46.960 thank you very much and yes it will be worth it talk to you soon
