00:00:00.000 we are here at the war memorial and i'm here with anita anita and we both got the capes or we both
00:00:07.680 got the flags on our back accessories for today yeah how long you've been at the convoy uh so
00:00:12.620 this is my second visit i was here the first day on the 29th yeah yeah it's been amazing it's been
00:00:18.840 so much fun and you finally see people living life and having a good time not living in fear
00:00:24.500 and just open to love and and unity and when you're in ontario it's like one of the only
00:00:29.460 fun things to do you you kind of have to find secret ways to gather right and just to be allowed
00:00:36.600 to see family and friends it's it's incredibly different yeah and to be human uh someone told
00:00:41.620 me that you are a paramedic that's right yeah yeah i was yeah i was with toronto and what happened
00:00:47.340 uh they basically they terminated me uh because of the mandates and i'm a single mom i'm trying to
00:00:55.080 figure out what to do with my life and i don't really have that much support and you know because
00:01:00.060 this issue has dividing families and friends even further it's like you have limited resources to
00:01:06.020 reach out to so i think it is a way of like phasing people out and and kind of cancelling people
00:01:12.300 all together right if you don't go along uh you seem very calm cool and collected uh i just feel like
00:01:19.040 like you're controlling your emotions very well i would be i would be livid if i were you but so
00:01:25.460 on different days you feel different things um i do remain um grateful for everything i do have
00:01:32.580 you know that's kind of helped me get through some rough days but you know over here you see people so
00:01:38.260 full of love and just welcoming of anyone that's willing to listen you know there's so many sad stories
00:01:44.540 you know i would say mine's a little bit of a sad story but at the same time you know people are
00:01:49.060 supporting each other free food helping clear ice you know really uh doing things with integrity which
00:01:56.520 is that's beautiful that's canadian yeah and you know we're seeing we're seeing paramedics we're
00:02:01.540 seeing truckers we're seeing doctors all sorts of people workers librarians teachers bell canada you
00:02:07.660 know it's it's the discrimination is incredible and they've been extremely cunning the way that they've
00:02:14.040 gradually implemented things and kind of twisted the uh story so you feel like you're the last
00:02:20.760 one holding out when in fact there are a lot of people that got medically assaulted they got
00:02:26.440 assaulted because they weren't taking it because they were concerned about a virus uh they were doing
00:02:31.160 these things to keep paying their mortgage because they have to feed their kids they have to
00:02:35.280 they want to be able to go attend a funeral or a wedding you know like it's that's not a reason you
00:02:41.280 make a medical decision it's very irritating as well when people say well it's your choice
00:02:46.320 and you know it doesn't really feel like a choice it's not a reasonable set of options for choices
00:02:53.760 right i think um you know whether you want to get vaccinated or not that's your you know your decision
00:02:59.940 right um but at the same time some people have done a little bit more research into it and
00:03:05.060 thought it was not the right choice for them especially you know especially if they're healthy
00:03:10.280 and or they've had covid and they've recovered and that's that's another thing is natural immunity was
00:03:17.700 so rarely discussed and we've known this to be a concept that's generally accepted as the science
00:03:26.580 pre-2020 yeah absolutely what is what is this protest about for you what does it what does it mean to
00:03:34.000 you so i joined the convoy from vaughn um vaughn in uh toronto vaughn and it was um you saw the hope
00:03:43.260 people were loading up my trunk with food some people gave me money chocolate water socks everything
00:03:51.300 it was kind of an effort in um hopes that this will do something and that's why i think everyone's still
00:03:58.820 here i think that's why everyone's still showing up it's cold it's not pleasant to be walking
00:04:03.940 around for hours but the the vibe the love the uh freedom and unity everyone that's here has
00:04:12.780 elevated people's lives like you know people are living their lives and enjoying it again
00:04:19.140 and it warms you up too in the middle yes were you born in canada i was yeah and a lot of people are
00:04:25.460 saying that they're feeling this canadian pride for the first time in a long time being here can you
00:04:30.280 relate to that or absolutely yeah so i born canadian um i think that we generally are a peaceful kind of
00:04:38.560 go along nice group of people but obviously it's become a thing where it's it's gone way beyond our
00:04:45.480 boundaries of acceptable and that's why kind of it's gotten to this point um and this is where it's
00:04:52.200 like a solid line of no means no consent used to mean a thing but in this case if it's uh government
00:04:59.640 officials or whatnot then you're not allowed to say no like that doesn't sound like the canada i want
00:05:05.980 this government has gone back on a lot of what they said they would do this they would do that
00:05:10.820 when will you personally be satisfied what would you like to see
00:05:13.660 uh unfortunately i think there's a lot of damage to repair it's going to be it's probably going to
00:05:21.600 be generations of work um well the the debt the the trauma like collective trauma um and beyond that
00:05:31.220 it's um i think i've been guilty in my past of not thinking about where things are sourced where you
00:05:39.120 know what are the consequences of my spending or my activities so so that's kind of put me in a bit
00:05:45.480 of a mindset of like little changes at a time we can't it's hard to change all of it at once but
00:05:51.660 incremental changes at a time reasonable sustainable um and also the de-skilling of people like people
00:06:00.500 we need to keep canadians skilled capable of self-sustaining so that we are not under
00:06:07.760 the control if somebody doesn't want to negotiate with us we're we're good we got it you know wow
00:06:14.400 that was such a comprehensive answer thank you for that thank you because yeah you're right it's uh
00:06:19.120 it's not all just going to go away tomorrow it's going to be an ongoing fight to keep holding this
00:06:25.520 line for as long as we can and then in in beyond that correcting it for the future for future generations
00:06:32.040 and in many ways this this freedom convoy is to be just the beginning of something
00:06:36.600 yes and it's i always thought it was kind of hilarious not that truckers aren't essential for
00:06:42.000 so many things but you know the trucker party of canada or whatever you want to you know it's just
00:06:48.580 like yes everyone blue collar hard working you know doing doing things for their family with a
00:06:54.400 value and integrity so yeah i'll get behind that you know you had the courage to first of all make a
00:07:00.820 decision that's going to make you lose your job any words of encouragement for people to stand up and to
00:07:05.520 let them know like you know this is the issue to get behind well i think a lot of people they do have
00:07:11.400 a gut instinct that something might not be right and i i say explore that i'm not going to pull you
00:07:17.760 over to a decision that you don't want but explore that that that inner voice is there for a reason
00:07:23.560 there is no way that you could be here see the joy and happiness and love and think that it's some
00:07:30.140 sort of hateful group that is just uh follow follow up with that i think underneath it all a lot of
00:07:36.720 people have been cornered into a spot where they feel like they have to take this hateful stance
00:07:41.980 when on the contrary they're welcome to be joining people that want unity that want love that are
00:07:50.700 willing to look beyond small differences for just some fundamental rights and freedoms
00:07:56.380 awesome thank you so much for your time thank you for your time so nice to meet you
