00:00:00.000 all right we're live we're on young street and who do i run into but i run into the one
00:00:06.060 the only the chris guy actually lifted weights with him this morning at la fitness over there
00:00:11.720 uh well first of all sir thank you for the amazing chest workout but um i mean how you
00:00:17.420 feeling today you're going to uh good life's next week for working out what we're doing uh we're
00:00:22.220 going to be talking with good luck this weekend to see if we can do the next seven days at good
00:00:25.320 life obviously we had an amazing workout we went over and had an amazing breakfast at lavazzo cafe
00:00:30.460 we were walking into people just on the street supporting us letting us know that they're going
00:00:34.600 to be voting for me for mayor and now we got to run over to scarbo because we're doing the grand
00:00:38.420 opening of our office at 14 30 berchmont i gotta go home and shower and get changed 4 p.m we have
00:00:44.300 an award-winning food truck coming he actually even serves halal chicken uh and he's coming we
00:00:49.380 got free food free ice cream free drinks and we're going to be getting all our volunteers together
00:00:54.020 all our supporters together all our donors together and this is just going to be a good
00:00:57.240 fun time bring the family bring your friends and let's go support chris sky from here guys
00:01:01.480 absolutely i'm going to be there uh later tonight it's four to seven right out in scarborough i'll
00:01:06.080 be there um i'm going to speak with peace act strikers uh oh yeah we saw them over there yeah
00:01:11.920 yeah what do you think i should uh be asking them or like what do you think about this strike going
00:01:15.520 on you should be asking them if they uh they approved of all the restrictions last year we
00:01:19.300 should be asking them if they approved the emergency act to quell protests and then if
00:01:23.460 If they say yes, you should say, so when should we be using the Emergency Act to quell your protest?
00:01:27.920 Because they're protesting.
00:01:28.800 They're already getting paid way more than virtually everybody else in the private sector
00:01:32.720 who are doing more, either equivalent or even more work.
00:01:36.140 And they're getting paid significantly less.
00:01:37.660 They have less benefits, harsher working conditions.
00:01:40.040 So the fact that they're out there protesting for even more money
00:01:42.380 when we were out there protesting for our basic human rights and getting shit on,
00:01:46.820 it's kind of ridiculous to me.
00:01:48.060 Sorry.
00:01:48.540 I know you've got places to go, so we'll talk to you later, bro.
00:01:51.020 Cheers, man.
00:01:51.640 All the best.
00:01:52.180 yeah i hope you come work out with up again i will i will see you guys peace all right
00:01:58.980 so that's chris sky uh can you guys hear me okay because i got my new microphone
00:02:06.020 it might be picking up more sound i'm gonna try to read the chat just to see if it let me
00:02:10.900 know if it sounds okay okay let me know if it sounds all right i want to know if it sounds good
00:02:16.260 it's loud sounds good all right perfect so we're up here on young street young and uh this is
00:02:27.880 north of the 401 young and elmhurst on the other side of this intersection here we got
00:02:35.080 the strikers the strikers is the wind really bad guys just kind of curious if the sound's okay
00:02:42.700 the wind's kind of bad but it's a different microphone
00:02:46.660 I'm dealing with a different microphone today
00:02:48.400 different microphone, we got the PSAC people over here
00:02:52.180 outside of this Government of Canada building
00:02:55.760 and here we go
00:03:04.760 we're going to go talk to them
00:03:07.260 I'm going to ask them the same kind of questions I typically ask
00:03:11.860 what brings you out here today how's it going sir did you want to comment on the
00:03:15.700 no no he's good he's good all right here we go hi there sorry I'm not live on
00:03:27.940 YouTube did you guys want to talk about the strike going on okay okay cool cool
00:03:36.500 here we go here we are long round of people how's it going hi how's it going sir i'm live
00:03:46.040 on youtube did you want to chat for a minute okay cool all good hey there no problem no problem
00:03:56.120 hey there i'm live on youtube did you want to chat real quick or no hey guys i'm live
00:04:03.660 on youtube right now did you want to uh chat okay great hey there i'm uh live on youtube right now
00:04:12.780 did you want to chat about uh the strike going on amazing so uh what brings you out to the strike
00:04:20.460 The strike, so basically there's the wages, like we're asking for a $13.5 increase.
00:04:33.240 So they're offering a 9% increase over the next three years.
00:04:40.480 So we're saying with inflation that it's very difficult to keep up.
00:04:48.940 workers are frustrated
00:04:51.080 so they
00:04:51.960 were saying enough is enough
00:04:54.700 basically. So does it
00:04:56.820 have anything to do with work conditions
00:04:58.920 or is it simply just that you
00:05:00.840 asked for a 13% pay raise and they're
00:05:02.860 only offering 9%?
00:05:05.380 There's that
00:05:06.440 aspect but then there's also
00:05:08.800 remote work. I think what
00:05:10.840 the Treasury Board is saying
00:05:12.860 is that regardless
00:05:14.660 of operational
00:05:16.480 increases
00:05:17.920 or operational conditions.
00:05:22.240 It's got to be two days per week in the office for everyone.
00:05:27.400 So basically the union is saying that we want it to be more flexible
00:05:33.520 around remote work
00:05:36.700 and that we can do our jobs just as good with remote work.
00:05:42.500 Yeah, yeah.
00:05:44.380 Did you hear that the Peace Act was strategically shutting down the Port of Montreal and that sort of thing?
00:05:51.180 Did you hear about that?
00:05:52.200 Yes.
00:05:53.820 And do you support those actions?
00:05:56.760 Do you hope that that gets you what you're looking for?
00:06:03.000 Basically, we're escalating tactics legally all within the bounds of the law.
00:06:11.200 So, like, it's really designed to put pressure on government.
00:06:17.740 Yeah, yeah.
00:06:18.800 And so did you follow the trucker convoy that happened last year?
00:06:23.720 Yes.
00:06:24.760 And do you think that when they used the Emergencies Act,
00:06:27.540 do you think that was justified against the trucker convoy protest?
00:06:31.140 I think that for that situation, there was a lot of different message there.
00:06:38.580 Namely that there was some elements, like it was not about working conditions, it was more about basically there was also certain elements of extreme, elements like far right elements.
00:07:08.580 So, because I think it's interesting that, you know, do you think the emergencies, you
00:07:18.040 do think the Emergencies Act was justified in that instance, because it's very similar
00:07:23.080 in terms of the trucker convoy was shutting down, you know, strategically shutting down
00:07:28.260 parts of Ottawa, and then you guys are shutting down strategic places across the country.
00:07:34.160 So, you know, should the Emergencies Act be used on you guys, or do you think that's
00:07:37.520 so in terms of the emergencies
00:07:41.860 act it should only ever be
00:07:43.900 used as a last resort
00:07:45.720 in the most
00:07:49.540 extreme of circumstances
00:07:51.700 where people are
00:07:53.600 actually where there's a safety
00:07:55.980 issue
00:07:56.800 that's how I would say it
00:07:59.600 right right cool
00:08:01.540 alright awesome well thanks for your time bro
00:08:05.780 you're welcome cheers
00:08:06.820 awesome
00:08:08.540 I'm not even going to say anything
00:08:13.640 let's talk to somebody over here
00:08:16.840 how's it going sir
00:08:18.640 how's it going
00:08:19.840 I'm just live on YouTube
00:08:23.860 do you want to chat
00:08:24.440 no it's ok
00:08:25.060 you can talk to our captain
00:08:29.120 yes you can talk to our representative
00:08:31.140 why are you shooing me away
00:08:32.520 you're a random guy on YouTube
00:08:34.620 I'm a random guy on YouTube. Okay. Hey, ma'am. How's it going?
00:08:40.260 I'm just, hey, what? Can I talk to people? Why can't I talk to people?
00:08:50.920 Oh, how do I identify them?
00:08:57.340 The captain is what?
00:09:00.120 A captain badge.
00:09:03.320 Okay. Are you a captain?
00:09:04.620 hi hello hi i'm just live on youtube i was hoping to chat with some of the strikers
00:09:13.660 okay uh can i connect with some of those captains
00:09:24.540 okay uh well i'm just trying to youtube channel uh it's just myself just greg wycliffe i'm just
00:09:32.040 trying to document what's going on. I'm just asking people about the strike and
00:09:37.560 you know about what they're fighting for, right?
00:09:50.720 You're not getting any interviews or media at this time? I mean well these
00:09:55.580 people are free citizens are they not who are who are striking?
00:10:02.040 I'm just asking them questions all right it's the camera's still looking at me
00:10:20.160 it's all like if you do see a captain
00:10:32.000 then please send them my way that would be great you won't be doing that why don't you want to like
00:10:38.480 spread the message of of you guys you guys have something to hide why can't i talk to the people
00:10:57.060 why why does this have to be so complicated like it's
00:11:09.360 yeah but like we're alive there's no skewing it it's just straight up talking to people
00:11:24.600 yeah okay all right well i guess you're not going to help me find a captain to talk to
00:11:32.540 so thanks thanks for nothing but uh thanks anyway um cool wow hi how's it going
00:11:41.060 a lot of a lot of snubs man i'm getting a lot of snubs here
00:11:46.180 um but we're gonna keep going this guy's got a little banner on here
00:11:51.540 i'm sorry i'm not giving too many good visuals right now did you guys hear any of that i don't
00:11:56.480 know how's it going i'm good i'm just live on youtube right now did you want to chat to the
00:12:02.420 people at home did you want to chat with the people at home oh no i'm okay thank you very
00:12:06.760 much oh okay uh could we chat and like i don't have your face on camera and i just hear your
00:12:12.740 voice or yeah yeah you can do that okay awesome yeah i'll just have like your feet here sorry
00:12:17.500 Yeah, we're not really giving interviews to anyone right here.
00:12:23.500 We're not giving interviews to anyone right here.
00:12:25.500 Perfect, yes, perfect.
00:12:26.500 What kind of...
00:12:27.500 Yes, here you go.
00:12:28.500 You heard the video.
00:12:29.500 We'll not be able to action until we have someone from PSAC.
00:12:33.500 And now it's the lady you were talking to.
00:12:36.500 Thank you.
00:12:37.500 Oh, okay.
00:12:38.500 So you guys can't speak for yourselves, basically?
00:12:40.500 Well, it's not necessarily that, but I think we have...
00:12:43.500 That's what it sounds like.
00:12:44.500 You need someone here to speak for you.
00:12:46.500 okay thanks anyway thanks anyway wow i mean i knew i knew i was gonna expect something when i
00:12:59.620 was here but like jesus jesus apparently i'm harass i'm harassing people for asking their
00:13:07.620 thoughts this is harassment hey why are you striking today that's harassment to ask somebody
00:13:13.140 why they're striking. It's crazy.
00:13:22.100 All right, we're gonna walk down this way a bit. We're gonna walk down this way a
00:13:29.520 bit. Maybe I should change my outfit. What YouTube channel? What YouTube
00:13:33.900 channel are you from? Well, we need to like back check you before you can talk
00:13:36.880 to people that's that's cool
00:13:42.420 how's it going I'm good hi there okay thanks anyway hey there I'm just live on
00:13:57.560 YouTube did you want to chat to the people about no okay hey guys I'm just
00:14:04.480 I'm just live on YouTube right now.
00:14:06.120 I'm hoping to talk to some of the strikers.
00:14:08.480 I'm good, thank you.
00:14:09.480 You good? Okay.
00:14:10.960 Hey, did you want to...
00:14:12.220 Hey, guys, I'm just live on YouTube.
00:14:15.640 Did you want to talk about why you're striking today?
00:14:21.680 Hey, I'm just live on YouTube.
00:14:23.120 Did you want to talk about why you're striking today?
00:14:26.100 You can talk to one of the people in the orange bag.
00:14:29.060 Okay.
00:14:32.160 Hey there, I'm just live on YouTube.
00:14:33.580 did you want to talk about uh why you're striking today hi there i'm just i'm live on youtube uh
00:14:39.500 would you like to chat to the people at home of why you're striking today what the strike is about
00:14:43.980 sure awesome and i'm here with uh bruno bruno so tell me what brings you out here today
00:14:50.780 uh i'm on strike man okay i'm striking for a contract we haven't had a contract in two years
00:14:58.060 so we're working without a contract before that we didn't we didn't have a
00:15:02.860 contract for five years and and then we got one and it's okay we got one we'll
00:15:10.000 get another one soon no two years down we still don't have another contract so
00:15:15.220 we're here to get a contract that's one of the big things and we also want a
00:15:20.200 wage increase because as you know the price of everything has gone out like you know that
00:15:30.600 did you want to come with me off to the side for a second sure sure awesome so um and this contract
00:15:37.800 does that include like the wage increase is that like what the whole that's the whole point of the
00:15:41.480 contract well no that's not the whole point unfortunately because there's a whole bunch
00:15:46.360 of different aspects to this they're trying to put in the contract new laws
00:15:55.460 about working remotely I I started working back at the office a few months
00:16:06.520 back and I like it actually I like working at the office but for a lot of
00:16:13.000 of people it's not convenient and it's it's way better at home for so many
00:16:20.620 reasons and the office I'm working at now it's closing it's closing at the end
00:16:28.240 of June and there's no other office after until September so I said where am
00:16:36.000 I supposed to go until the next office opens no answer so anyways that's not
00:16:41.920 the contract that's just it's just there the the different issues uh but tell you and we're trying
00:16:51.040 not to get people uh being contracted out hey my team sorry um i'm based from out of london
00:17:03.600 and i never met these people i just saw them remotely so i get to meet them here
00:17:09.760 and talk and uh yeah so and part of the protest is to uh or sort of the strike rather is to try and
00:17:18.080 uh have more lenience in terms of working from home is that right yes more lenience about working
00:17:23.800 from home and uh not hire uh contract workers because that's that's a disaster so you so you
00:17:32.920 want higher pay also more working from home more working from home more job
00:17:39.240 security there's there's so anyways I don't want to get into the job security
00:17:45.820 thing I've been there for 14 years so like you know I'm secure but these new
00:17:51.260 people and not so much and there's been so many changes over the years that I
00:17:58.100 I've I've seen I won't get into that there's tons you know um did you hear
00:18:03.680 about the PSAC is using a tactics of shutting down strategic ports across
00:18:09.800 across the country at the airport too yeah did you hear about that I I didn't
00:18:14.420 hear with the airport no yesterday a lot of these people I didn't make it I was
00:18:19.100 too late went to Pearson International Airport to protest yeah yeah and what
00:18:27.560 happened is the RCMP uh intercepted us and put us in a little little secluded area so we didn't
00:18:36.100 do anything we didn't interfere with anything but um yeah so there that was we had an attempt
00:18:44.260 to uh maybe picket at Pearson International that didn't well we did pick it but it's like
00:18:51.700 a non-event were you there no I wasn't there I just heard from my colleague that just said hello
00:18:57.160 because she was there with my other colleagues they all made it nice so you're picketing at
00:19:02.360 the airport for you know more working from home and and higher wages always the same thing it's
00:19:07.180 the same strike everything but well one thing that's interesting here is one of the first
00:19:13.480 thing i ask people is where do you work because people work in all sorts of places oh i work
00:19:21.180 passport uh i work cra i work all they're everywhere like and um yeah so it's nice to
00:19:32.380 see other people in the union because usually we don't and i guess in a way by striking you guys
00:19:37.840 are kind of like not only picketing the airport you know shutting down ports but you're also kind
00:19:43.600 of shutting down uh services for people who need to get their their passports right we're not
00:19:47.720 shutting them down the the services are we're not there to work them right so
00:19:54.040 it's kind of it's kind of shut down though well yeah in a way but it's it's
00:19:59.180 just that's the thing with a strike is we put a little pressure so that the
00:20:06.540 negotiations can move forward two years come on that's a long time to wait for
00:20:12.400 contract anyways yeah anyways I want to start walking and okay I had a couple
00:20:18.940 more questions but okay so um the the trucker convoy happened last year which
00:20:24.160 also yeah that's a totally different issue that's not a union issue those are
00:20:31.360 scary people yeah those those people also shut down pieces you know streets
00:20:37.800 and this sort of thing they were my family's in ottawa so no that's not the same thing it's not
00:20:43.980 the same animal it's uh it's they're not a union they're anyways well there were people at the
00:20:52.300 convoy because i did interview people who were there and some of them were nurses who got let
00:20:56.460 go for not getting vaccinated for example so not only were they not asking for more wages they were
00:21:01.180 just asking to get their jobs back because of mandates some of them um and you know they were
00:21:05.680 using aggressive tactics to protest uh as well uh and then the emergencies act not called on them
00:21:10.860 so uh do you think that was justified in that case i have no idea i i didn't follow that um
00:21:17.140 yeah no i don't know if that was justified or not there's an inquiry into that yeah thank you so
00:21:23.480 much for your time you're welcome cheers yeah yeah absolutely i appreciate it thank you thank you
00:21:27.800 i respect the fact that he gave me the time of day i really i really appreciate that
00:21:34.140 hey guys how's it going how are you I'm just live on YouTube right now did you
00:21:42.320 want to talk about the strike and raise awareness about why you guys are out
00:21:45.300 here okay cool if there are any PSAC captains around who do you want to speak
00:21:52.800 to media then let them know amazing thank you I don't know how long this
00:22:00.260 stream is gonna last cuz I don't have my battery pack with me so if it cuts out

00:23:04.480 Yeah, that's great.
00:23:08.020 What's that?
00:23:12.400 What's that?
00:23:13.140 If we told the truth, we'd be fired.
00:23:16.600 Do you want to chat on...
00:23:18.620 No, that.
00:23:19.740 This guy just said to me, ominously,
00:23:24.020 if we told the truth, we'd be fired.
00:23:28.600 That's a pretty interesting quote.
00:23:30.660 Hi there, I'm live on YouTube right now.
00:23:32.280 did you want to chat chat about why you're striking here today let me just
00:23:48.420 get your sign here quick Canadians think we get 125 K reality under 50 K I I
00:23:55.920 heard that that's some misinformation
00:23:59.880 No, that's great. That's great. Absolutely. Absolutely. So let's just start with that.
00:24:04.920 Um, the bells are probably going to ruin the audio.
00:24:10.100 She can do what she likes. That's okay.
00:24:11.260 Okay, sure. Well, it's not going to help amplify the message.
00:24:14.480 Anyway, so what brings you out to the strike here today?
00:24:17.520 What brings me out? I feel like as most Canadians are feeling,
00:24:21.660 groceries are going up, rent is going up, gas is through the roof,
00:24:25.620 well, groceries are through the roof as well.
00:24:27.040 And I feel like there's not much happening.
00:24:28.960 There's not much being done.
00:24:30.460 I think as Canadians, we're sitting down and we're taking it.
00:24:32.540 We're thinking that this is it, you know.
00:24:34.640 We're just going to be, you know, underpaid for the rest of our lives.
00:24:38.340 And if not us, who else will?
00:24:41.340 You know, and I think that the issue is that Canadians don't realize that we're fighting for ourselves,
00:24:47.320 but we're also fighting for the rest of the country.
00:24:49.280 You know, once our wages go up, we pull everybody else up with us.
00:24:53.220 So I think that's the most important part for me.
00:24:56.580 Yeah.
00:24:56.740 Yeah.
00:24:57.140 and so when it comes to the major it's about getting a new contract it's about if i'm not
00:25:03.380 mistaken getting the rate you asked for uh 13 but they're only offering nine and there's also
00:25:09.400 something about working from home as well could you could you clarify is that about it or is that
00:25:13.480 for me i can't speak for you know the president but we've come off of the 13.5 twice i think that
00:25:21.600 we're coming in at like 10 now they don't want to budge on nine percent and what that shows is they
00:25:25.940 don't care they don't care about us they don't care about the rest of the country so that's
00:25:31.080 really unfortunate we've come down twice they need to know how to negotiate because that's not
00:25:35.600 negotiating good faith and so PSAC is being very aggressive in terms of wanting to get their
00:25:41.800 demands met they've shut down strategic ports across the country I heard I talked to someone
00:25:47.040 today they said there was something at Pearson Airport do you agree with these tactics do you
00:25:52.240 hope this is going to get you guys what you're what you're looking for i think it's like it's
00:25:55.960 little disturbances for sure but if you've been waiting over two years for a fair contract i
00:26:01.260 think this is nothing this is peanuts we're not harming anybody we are delaying processes for
00:26:07.320 sure but if you've been waiting two years for a fair contract and they don't even want to come
00:26:11.520 to the table and have proper negotiations i think that's a bigger problem here and you said something
00:26:18.140 earlier how you are hoping that a strike like this will help other it definitely will help
00:26:24.800 other people yeah i i would i would love to hear could you explain that how is uh because like if
00:26:29.520 people are like non-government workers like you're hoping there's gonna be a ripple effect or
00:26:33.260 there has been there anytime that we get a higher pay it brings the rest of canada up
00:26:38.120 maybe not till like 125 000 that people think we get but people will also get raises they're gonna
00:26:44.460 to be like okay they're getting this much that means that they deserve that much why am i only
00:26:48.680 getting paid 35k a year you know they're going to go to their employers and look to our our benchmark
00:26:54.160 and what we said and this is other unions other unions other people who aren't in unions you know
00:26:59.100 they're going to look and be like they're getting closer to what they should be getting paid because
00:27:02.980 let's be realistic we're still not getting the rate of inflation right we're asking for less
00:27:07.040 than that so we're not even asking to to be on par with with inflation we're just asking for a fair
00:27:12.500 wage so that's not i think for everybody else in the country that's a good benchmark for what they
00:27:17.540 can ask for from their employer yeah yeah and so the the average is the 50k 125k like like let's
00:27:26.260 be fair here are some people out here protesting do they get like 125k and it's just like a small
00:27:31.300 percentage of them or like where does that all our earnings are actually on camera
00:27:37.060 uh no okay i'll just get your vote thanks uh all our earnings is actually published it on the
00:27:43.780 government website for everyone to look at so it is very transparent um everyone can find out how
00:27:51.060 much we actually are earning right right so but if i were to look look it up would there be at least
00:27:57.680 some government workers who are getting 125k a year there's definitely people who get paid
00:28:01.920 that amount but they are very very high up people they're not the people that you see here are
00:28:06.320 getting paid i think the cap is 65k to 40k and a lot of people here like especially cra are getting
00:28:12.440 paid 40k i'm not from the cra but i can only imagine what they deal with especially on the
00:28:17.200 phone and 40k to be honest is not a lot after taxes that's that's peanuts if we're being real
00:28:22.340 and a lot of people are upset and of course want to get paid want to be able to afford things and
00:28:27.580 they should be able if they're working a government job you would assume that they can afford things
00:28:31.680 and a lot of canada thinks that we are getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars which is
00:28:36.280 not the truth even my what I told my mom like this is all I get paid she's like
00:28:39.780 and you what what jobs do you do like you work in the government like yes like
00:28:43.660 it's it's that serious that's the point that we're at that even government
00:28:47.380 workers can't afford anything and there's this misconception that we can
00:28:50.260 get paid hundreds of thousands dollars we have this cushy job we have all those
00:28:54.380 things it's like we still have the same problems that everyday Canadians have as
00:28:58.460 well like we can't afford things government doesn't take us seriously they
00:29:02.300 don't want to pay us a fair wage and that's unfortunate and it sucks and
00:29:05.140 That's why we're out here.
00:29:06.420 So you guys are asking for higher wages and also work from home language.
00:29:11.820 Would you be willing to compromise if they just offered the raise and not the work from home?
00:29:16.420 I can't speak on, like, I have no bargaining tool.
00:29:19.960 Like me, I'm a lonely worker.
00:29:21.160 I'll let them know.
00:29:21.980 Yeah, I'm just a lonely worker.
00:29:24.060 I'm just at the bottom.
00:29:25.040 I don't have any powers in that.
00:29:27.320 But I'm sure that I know that our bargaining team is making good progress.
00:29:31.920 And I know that they are bargaining good faith.
00:29:33.660 Because, again, they've come down twice from what was offered originally.
00:29:38.840 So they're making the little changes to what we're being asked,
00:29:44.040 but there's no movement from Mona.
00:29:47.100 And I want to talk about the shutdowns again,
00:29:49.620 because some people are saying, oh, they're shutting stuff down,
00:29:52.360 and they're relating it to the trucker convoy, believe it or not,
00:29:54.840 because the trucker convoy was very disruptive in their approach,
00:29:58.080 and they got the Emergencies Act called on them, which is very unprecedented.
00:30:01.880 Do you think the Emergencies Act was justified in that instance?
00:30:06.560 Did you follow the convoy?
00:30:08.200 Honestly, I don't think I can comment on that.
00:30:10.560 All I can say is one's unionized, one's not.
00:30:13.320 I can't make a comment on that because I don't know much about them, to be honest.
00:30:17.640 Okay.
00:30:18.000 Yeah.
00:30:19.680 Amazing.
00:30:20.400 Well, thanks for your time.
00:30:21.420 Is there anything else you wanted to say for people at home who say that you guys were being greedy or something like that?
00:30:27.680 Hi.
00:30:27.960 Hi.
00:30:28.340 How are you?
00:30:28.940 I'm good.
00:30:29.260 How are you?
00:30:29.700 I'm doing very well.
00:30:30.660 I wanted to know if I could just speak with you for a brief moment, if that's okay.
00:30:34.540 Thank you so much.
00:30:36.180 So, so, so, solidarity.
00:30:40.680 Amazing.
00:30:41.840 Amazing.
00:30:43.060 Hi there.

00:33:27.380 Am I a leper?
00:33:28.820 Am I invisible?
00:33:30.080 Hi there.
00:33:31.760 Hi.
00:33:34.060 Hi, how's it going?
00:33:37.500 I guess that's everybody who wants to talk.
00:33:39.640 I guess we're spent.
00:33:41.060 I guess that's it.
00:33:43.720 How are you doing, sir?
00:33:44.680 okay all good cool
00:33:49.260 i may have found everyone who wants to talk all all five of them
00:33:55.040 hi how's it going i'm good i'm live on youtube right now and i'm trying to find strikers who
00:34:03.480 want to talk about why they're out here to raise awareness about what they're doing
00:34:07.180 okay cool yeah if you meet anybody that does want to talk then uh then send them my way
00:34:14.680 Awesome, thank you.
00:34:24.600 I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I, I'm not, I'm having fun, but I'm like, the vibes are creeping
00:34:30.460 me out, guys, a little bit.
00:34:36.020 It's been a while since I've been snubbed like this.
00:34:38.180 I'm having like flashbacks.
00:34:39.300 Oh, this is it.
00:34:40.080 Yeah, I remember why.
00:34:42.180 Certain campaign that I did back in the day.
00:34:44.680 hi there hi sorry to interrupt I'm just live on YouTube right now I'm talking to
00:34:52.000 some of the strikers okay great no comment hi there I'm just live on the
00:35:01.300 YouTube right now did you guys want to make any comments while you're striking
00:35:04.300 today okay apparently I might have five heads people are looking at me like I
00:35:09.340 have five heads or something good crowd people though how are you how are you two
00:35:22.240 doing I'm just live on YouTube right now and I'm talking to some people who are
00:35:27.340 out striking asking them why they're out here would you be interested in chatting
00:35:31.360 Oh, amazing. Can I take a seat next to you? Awesome. Great, so I am here with?
00:35:38.360 Jia. J-I-A. Jia. And so what brings you out to the strike today?
00:35:44.360 Well, we have been no contract for two years. So, you know, the living cost in Toronto is rocked up to
00:35:54.360 we can't afford any food you know usually I eat a chicken during my meal
00:36:01.140 right now I have to keep meals I so yeah that's right I'm out for a straight game
00:36:07.440 so I mean I don't want to ask about your specific salary it's a little invasive
00:36:13.080 but you know some people are saying oh like some some government workers have
00:36:18.360 like really high salaries do you have any idea like how vast the the salaries
00:36:22.560 are for different workers well personally I just started my career so my salary is not the higher
00:36:30.240 level right so it's around 50k a year so so it's based on the 2020 salary level yep so so I'm
00:36:41.040 expecting a higher increase for the three years for sure yeah yeah and you know living in Toronto
00:36:47.680 that's got to be that's got to be rough right that's got to be rough so uh everyone's gone
00:36:52.000 silent here uh at 11 because uh i think it's the injury worker day today so we have it's what's
00:37:04.080 right uh injury worker day injury worker day yeah it's like the day that we memorize the uh
00:37:10.560 the workers they got injured that got injured yeah vaccine injured i'm not too sure but i just heard
00:37:19.680 about that so yeah so it's done so we have to remain silent for a minute uh at 11. okay yeah
00:37:29.040 so um so so you're a new worker for uh for the government and uh it's about getting that raise
00:37:35.440 you guys asked for 13 they're only saying nine and then you guys also want more options for
00:37:39.600 working from home is that right yeah because uh right now i'm working uh for uh auto department
00:37:45.760 so uh i have to work remotely otherwise i have to move to our so uh actually a remote working
00:37:51.600 option is pretty important for me yeah yeah okay yeah so um you know the peace act is doing some
00:37:58.560 very very aggressive things that they're shutting down uh specific pieces of infrastructure you
00:38:02.800 heard about that i'm guessing yeah yeah um do you agree with those actions do you think it's
00:38:07.200 going to help you guys get what you want uh yes i do uh because uh we have to let the government
00:38:13.360 knows that what we need and we have to let them know that how important we are like we are striking
00:38:21.200 uh our service will be impacted for sure so so absolutely i think we're doing the right thing
00:38:28.720 awesome awesome um so this is this is kind of controversial but um there was a protest last
00:38:34.560 year called the trucker convoy and they were shutting down things as well and
00:38:39.060 the government actually not only did they not negotiate with any of the
00:38:43.380 protesters but they also called the emergencies act on these protesters did
00:38:48.540 you follow the trucker convoy did you think that was justified when they
00:38:52.080 called the emergencies act on those protesters well I don't think that's
00:38:57.360 right because I think what workers should have the right to striking they
00:39:02.440 should have their co-workers basic, right?
00:39:05.940 So I don't think it's right to call an emergency act on the weekend.
00:39:11.940 Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
00:39:13.940 So if they came back and said,
00:39:17.440 we'll give you your raise to 13%,
00:39:19.440 but we're not going to let you work from home,
00:39:21.940 what would you think about that?
00:39:24.940 Well, so if the union accepts that,
00:39:29.940 So, personally, I won't be happy about that, but unfortunately, I have no choice, I will accept that.
00:39:38.680 So, if my manager asks me to move to Ottawa, I probably will do.
00:39:46.520 And so, although you guys are out here striking right now, are you guys still getting paid?
00:39:52.220 Yeah.
00:39:52.700 So I received, well, I'm not sure how long we all get paid, but at least I still get my payments for the last two weeks.
00:40:03.080 Yeah, and we're getting our striking pay as well.
00:40:06.640 So although you're out striking, you are still getting paid?
00:40:08.900 Yeah.
00:40:09.440 Okay.
00:40:12.680 Is there anything else you wanted to say for people at home to raise awareness about the strike?
00:40:17.660 Yeah, don't worry too much.
00:40:19.340 like we're just hoping we get a deal really soon so it's the government that they're not moving
00:40:25.820 you know we already moved twice from 13.5 so we're getting lower but they're just sticking at nine
00:40:31.500 percent they're not like giving us any options so that's not how bargaining works so so we're just
00:40:37.420 hoping that government is doing the work um did you see that uh you know this is apparently one
00:40:42.940 of the biggest strikes of public workers in history and uh justin trudeau left the country
00:40:49.020 to go to New York. Did you hear about that? How do you feel about that?
00:40:52.200 I feel really uncomfortable, I will say, because we're asking Tudor to get involved
00:41:00.580 into this action, and we are looking for help. Absolutely, we're not happy about Tudor not
00:41:09.040 doing anything. He's going on vacation, so yeah, I'm happy about that.
00:41:15.120 and i apologize to be blunt but uh what is your background are you like korean or chinese
00:41:21.680 i came in uh so uh my background is chinese i came from canada when i was 11. so yeah
00:41:31.040 so i'm i'm not sure if you heard this news item but it's it's a very interesting news item
00:41:35.360 where essentially uh there was a whole bunch of election interviews with any media
00:41:39.840 The employer has a serious problem without talking to any media. Only authorized union representatives can talk to the media.
00:41:49.700 Do you know if there's any authorized union representatives around?
00:41:53.320 Sure, I can get one for you.
00:41:54.980 That would be great. That would be great.
00:41:57.740 Do you know how long it's going to be?
00:41:59.240 What's your name?
00:42:00.080 It's Greg.
00:42:01.000 Greg?
00:42:01.580 Yeah.
00:42:02.040 Okay.
00:42:03.020 Okay, give me one second.
00:42:06.800 Sure, sure.
00:42:08.300 Amazing.
00:42:09.840 I was just going to ask about the Chinese election interference.
00:42:13.380 Did you hear about that?
00:42:14.740 Not really.
00:42:15.740 I'm not really following the Chinese.
00:42:17.840 So, yeah.
00:42:18.420 So, essentially, there was this whole thing that there was evidence of money coming from Chinese nationals into Canadian politics.
00:42:27.380 I'm guessing you didn't hear about it.
00:42:28.300 No, I heard about that, but I don't have any personal opinion about the Chinese government movement.
00:42:33.160 Thanks a lot for your time, bro.
00:42:34.100 I appreciate it.
00:42:35.220 Thank you.
00:42:36.040 Cheers.
00:42:36.740 Thanks.
00:42:39.840 can I ask you a question okay awesome I'm just an independent citizen journalist
